I don't really use to the term of "changing". I use the same cell phone number since high school, I don't have enough guts to change my field of career, I ate the same menu on the restaurant on every visit, my playlist doesn't really grow, etc etc.

It won't be a problem if I feel myself fit in that routines, the fact is: I'm not. I get excited on new things, but too afraid to leave my comfort zone. What a shame, I know.

But lately I've just through a major changes, at least for me, it's major. Remember about I never change my cell phone number? I love my old cell phone number, but the provider I use have super super poor signal in my office, and it's kinda frustrating, so I decided to have two cell phone numbers. At first, I intended to keep both number, and be happy. But then, another problem strikes.

I bought a new cell phone, and because of some silly misunderstanding, turned out I have to use new cell phone number on that new device. So, I finally left with the only choice: stop using my old cell phone number and replace it with the new one.

For most people it might be easy peasy, but for me it's a sad and hard thing to do. But the good thing is, it's somehow feel like a baby step for me, to get use to changes.

Anyway, this baby step also lead me to this announcement: I'll stop writing in this blog, and move to another blog. I have the thought like months (or years) ago, but never had the guts (and time) to do it. I think it'll be a fresh start for me. :)

Will update you with the new address once it's ready. And in the mean time, I'll probably still post some ~~non~~sense posts here.

So, I've told my friend that I once rejected a very kind-hearted guy just because he listened to bad music (like really bad, trust me). My friend told me that I was so overreacted and too picky. But today I received this text: "I know how you feel about the guy with the bad music taste now. My partner have a super bad fashion sense. I feel like holding hands with ondel-ondel*." I laugh hard.

I found this post on Jessica Kraus's blog's House of Habit; and suddenly feel like re-blogging the post in my own version.

Flood:
I woke up at dawn today, realizing there's something wrong, it's still raining and I heard this weird sounds like a car's been driving on a river, I didn't think much, I ran to my room's window, and took a peek. And yes baby, flood is in the neighborhood. By the time I woke up, the water height already reach my house's terrace, and whenever anything pass by my house, there'll be this small wave that push the water inside my sitting room (the entrance area). And as I walked inside, tried to reach my Dad's room, I passed the bathroom, and, oh gosh, the water already flowing out of the bathroom. All I can think was "shit, I can't pee." So up till now, I only drank about a glass of water. And yes, the electricity went off all morning till afternoon. It's still raining outside anyway, I really hope it'll stop very soon so the water won't reach my room. :'(

Planing:

Okay, it'll be a long list, I've been downloaded a lot of movie files. Like really a lot. Not to mention some TV series. I've been watching halfway of Crazy, Stupid Love but got a bit bore, now planning on watching A Glimpse Inside the Mind of Charlie Swan III.

Rejoicing:
Being able to sit on the carpet in my room, safe and dry. With the thought of "there's this possibility that the flood will reach my room," this simple thing needed to be cherish.

Re-reading The Bartimeus Trilogy: The Amulet of Samarkand.

Preparing:
For the worst to come.
Means: I've just received a message that a dam on Ciliwung river was being opened at 6 pm (5 mins ago), because the water level were too high, this means the water will be spreading everywhere. My Dad told me that it won't affect us, because the main reason my neighborhood caught the flood was because the bad reservoir system. So, the flood in my neighborhood would get worse if there's rain around Depok and Bintaro area. And yes, the flood in Pesanggrahan river might be the cause too, but it's not the major cause.
But anyway, I kinda hate water, that's why I don't do trip on a boat, even if it was a luxury cruiser. So, the possibility of water come inside my room and interfere my territory is frightened me to death, and now I'm putting all of my things into a plastic container box and try to place it on a higher place, on the table, on the dining chair, etc. I reaaaalllllly pray the rain would stop very very soon and the flood will be receded very very very soon too.

The Impossible [2012]

I knew the movie from Maya, we watched it among the traffic when I was hitchhiking in her car, unfortunately I only watched it for like 10-15 minutes of it. Then today, I finally managed to watched the full version of it via streaming video on movie2k.to if you didn't know about this site, you should give it a look, you can watched any movies and even downloaded it. Cool stuff that I also knew from Maya. Oh, Maya is an intern in my office anyway.

So, back about the movie. As I live in Indonesia, one of some countries attacked by tsunami, the story feels so close to me, it feels so real. Plus the factor that it's actually a true story, successfully brought my feelings upside down, on some scene, I feel like I almost crying.

It's about a family of five, a husband - Henry, wife - Maria, and three kids, Lucas - 10yo, Thomas - 7.5yo, and Simon - 5yo. They travelled to Thailand for Christmas holiday, it started as a very happy and nice holiday, till suddenly the tsunami came. Maria and Lucas got dragged by the water, but thank God they managed to reach a saver place, it was a swamp, where they met a lil' boy named Daniel. Maria got two serious injuries on her chest and leg, thank God the villagers found them and took them to the hospital. The story is still a long way to go. You've gotta watch it yourselves, I won't be a spoiler here. :p

And as usual, I like to open the IMDB pages after (or sometimes while) I watched a movie, and read about the actor/actress, and as this movie based on a true story, I also Googled about the real family behind the movie. They were Maria, Quique, Lucas, Tomas, and Simon Alvarez from Spain. It must feel magical for them to make it this far. You can read the article here.

At last, this is a good movie, you've gotta watched it. And don't forget to learn how to swim (and dive), just in case.

I started the day very early, around 4 am. Working on a project, then get ready to the office just to take a Restoration Hardware very thick and heavy catalog. I arrived at the office around 7:30 am, I’ve never been there that early, what an achievement. Oh yah, I didn’t bring my smart phone, because suddenly it refused to be turned on.

Packed the catalog along with some other catalogs, plotted some CAD data, called my ojek, asked him to pick me up. Rushed to Snapy, printed bunches of working drawings, rushed to the west, BLD – Px Pavilion to be exact. Had a four hours long meeting and consume only a glass of iced chocolate.

Then went to the south by taxi, met Cikas, Putro, and Maya at Colonial – Kemang Village, then Ootoya – still in Kemang Village, then went along the traffic to Gandaria City with Cikas.

My plan was to take ojek from Gandaria City then went home by bus, but it’s raining hard, and the traffic was unbearable, so taxi won’t be a wise choice.

So I’ve gotta be happy just hung around the mall, and ended up stranded in one hell of a place, wrong choice.

Ordered a slice of cake, turned out to be dry and unappetizing, the wi fi didn’t work too. Sigh~

Now I randomly typing some words, while trying to survive with the low speed internet connection provided by the mall.

I really miss home, my room, my bed, the super fast internet connection. Downloading movies and series, watching TLC, and maybe read some books.

Happy Christmas everyone!! I happily celebrate Xmas eve with my family, the whole gang went to church at 8pm (it actually started at 9, but we have to came very early so we get to sit indoor with AC), then had late night (second) dinner at 11:30. I know it sounds so simple for most of you, but for me, having the whole family around was really something. ;) I feel blessed, thank God.

And though a friend of mine claimed Ron Sexsmith's Maybe This Christmas as "lagu galau", but this song still listed as one of my favorite Christmas song, next to Gembala Pergilah Cepat, Hendaklah Langit Bersukacita, Transeamus, etc etc. So, enjoy!! ;)

I have my new favorite TV series now!!

GIRLS

I first know about it from Synta's blog, then Lalataya told me that I might like it, so I gave it a try, and …

one of my fav. scene, when Hannah can convince Adam to do the play anyway.

Well, the first five episodes set me off the mood, I mean it was too honest, too realistic, feels like watching our own (sad and ironic) life, plus there's no cute guy (sorry Adam, but somehow you look kinda … gross?), but maybe the realistic part was also the reason I still keep watching it, till I reached the last five episodes, they were so sweet, it was like having told that "there's hope anyway, don't worry." Oh and not to mention the great different songs they always played at the end of each episode, looove it.

All in all, I like this series, and I really can't wait for the next season, it'll start on Jan 13th, 2013 anyway. Sooo excited!!

I read about the shooting tragedy that happened last Friday, December 14, 2012 in Sandy Hook Elementary School, Newtown, Connecticut; I really can’t gather any words, I mean, asking “why” is just simply rhetorical, all I know is, it really breaks my heart.

most of 'em were only 6-7 years old. :'(

But it’s a good remembrance for myself, to always think twice before do something that might breaks someone else’s heart, and it’s also a huge slap for me, that later on, when I become a parent, I should really take a good care of my kids – no excuse. Because an irritated person with huge grudge in his heart, sometimes can loose his mind and do a horrible things we never thought before.

I don't know why, but lately I always caught a serious flu around the holiday season. Last Eid Mubarak holiday, I caught a heavy flu that made me practically dying all along the holiday, even after the holiday ended, I still have to spend two extra days on bed.

Now, as Christmas is near, and this week is my last week at the office before Christmas holiday, I caught another flu + sore throat, that made me spent last weekend on bed, and today I woke up with the entire body aching, made me skip office. I really really really wish I'll be completely recovered by tomorrow, so I could enjoy Christmas. *sigh*

Giants Corndog [Bandung]

Pertama kali nyicip Giants Corndog pas Keuken #2 di GOR Saparua. Sampe pas kunjungan ke Bandung berikutnya, saya bela-belain muter-muterin Diponegoro - Ciliwung - dan sekitarnya buat hunting si Giants Corndog bareng Litya, gara-gara berdasarkan Google, booth doi ada di situ, eh ternayta setelah cross check sama Radit, salah satu dedengkot Keuken yang kenal sama owner Giants Corndog, ternyata booth yang di daerah Diponegoro itu udah tutup. Sampe bela-belain nanya "kalo kita dateng ke rumahnya, bisa minta tolong dimasakkin gak, Dit?" Yep, segitu ngidamnyaaa..

Pas Keuken #3 saya gabisa dateng karena lagi di Bali, dan Litya dengan kejamnya ngirim foto si Giants Corndog yang beneran GIANT, 30 cm booooook… Sluuuurp!!

Tiap ke Bandung saya nggak bosen-bosen nanya ke Radit "Dit, tanyain dong ke yang punya Giants Corndog, kapan buka toko?" dan tiap dijawab 'belom', saya selalu reply, "bilangin Dit, gue doain sukses, biar cepet buka toko," sampe di bales 'kalo ke Bandung bilang aja Yu, nanti dimasakkin,' udah bosen kali ya doi ditanyain mulu, ya Radit, ya yang punya-nya, haha..

Dan akhirnya, kemarin pas main ke Bandung, dalam rangka main sama Litya n Andra, saya sms Radit "Dit, jadi Giants Corndog udah buka toko belom," dan ternyata sodara-sodara, dijawablah, "udah Yu, di Ciwalk ground floor."

Saya, Litya, n Andra yang tadinya masih muka bantal bangun tidur, gak mikir, langsung mandi, siap-siap, daaaaan… ke Ciwalk. Sepanjang jalan udah ribut pingin pesen yang 30cm panjangnya, sampe sana, ternyata doi cuman punya wajan kecil, gak pake deep fryer gede, jadi gak muat buat ngegoreng yang 30cm, jadilah kita pesen yang regular, masing-masing org dua corndog, hahaha… Ini namanya balas dendam sih.

Terus berhubung ga ada tmp duduk, kita duduk di bench di tengah broadwalk-nya Ciwalk yang ga ada atepnya di tengah gerimis, ga enak banget ya kalo dipikir-pikir, 3 cewek masing-masing megang 2 corndog, duduk di tengah ujan, diem, sibuk makan, haha..

Intinya, berhubung saya belom pernah lagi nemuin org jualan corndog di sini, menurut saya, Giants Corndog ini beneran the best deh, batter-nya enyak, ringan, gurih, tekstur-nya pas. Paling enak dimakan pake mustard agak banyak sama mayonaisse sedikit, nyum..

Saya doain makin sukses secepatnya ya, Giants Corndog, biar bisa buka cabang di Jakarta secepatnya, amiiiin!!
