The soundtrack to the forthcoming feature film Morris: A Life With Bells On will be available through Dreamboat Records from 28 September. It is 32 tracks of original folk, orchestral and morris music written by Richard Lumsden, who also stars in the film. John Dipper, Saul Rose and Laurel Swift also feature on the record.

The film is a mockumentary that follows the fortunes of one of the leading Morris teams in the country, Milsham Morris, and in particular those of its avant garde leader Derecq Twist. It stars Derek Jacobi, Naomie Harris, Ian Hart and Greg Wise, among others.

We’re delighted to announce that Kate Stables and Rachel Dadd, aka Whalebone Polly, have joined forces with Dreamboat to release their long awaited E.P. Taproot and Sill on limited edition 10″ brown vinyl.

Following a two year break in which they worked on other projects (Kate with This is the Kit, Rachel on here solo work and with The Hand), they are now ready to release the follow up to their 2007 album Recordings with the Window Open.

Here’s a quick Dreamboat summer update before we announce an exciting new addition to the Dreamboat Records roster later in August:

Robin Allender is as busy as ever playing guitar for Yann Tiersen on their world tour. The Gala Band have just played Glastonbury and will be playing the show at Colston Hall’s grand re-opening night in Bristol as a two piece Saturday 15th September. And finally, The Rollercoaster Project will release his fantastic new album “Revenge” next month with our friends at Absolutely Kosher Records.

Hot on the heels of his star turn in How To Be, The Rollercoaster Project will be performing his music on May 27 in Hay-on-Wye at How The Light Gets In — the UK’s first ever philosophy and music festival. The festival is running from May 22-31 at the same time as the Hay Literary Festival and has a great line up of bands, comedy and speakers, including music from Michael Nyman, Stephen Fretwell and Jeremy Warmsley, debates and speeches with Zygmunt Bauman, AC Grayling, Simon Blackburn, Will Hutton, Phillip Blond and more, and comedy sketches from Ed Aczel and Robin Ince, among others. How To Be is the new comedy feature directed by Oliver Irving. It stars Robert Pattinson and Dreamboat Records’ own Johnny White (The Rollercoaster Project).

The How To Be soundtrack will be released by Dreamboat Records on April 28. It features three songs performed by Robert Pattinson, the original score by Joe Hastings, and tracks by The Rollercoaster Project, Love, Captain Beefheart and The Roches. Dreamboat Records is pleased to announce we will releasing the CD soundtrack for the upcoming feature film How To Be, starring Robert Pattinson (Twilight, Harry Potter). The soundtrack will be available to pre-order from Dreamboat Records soon. We will have some exclusive surprises for fans of the film and Pattinson, so keep your eyes peeled over the the coming weeks for details of how to get hold of them.

How To Be also stars Johnny White, who fans of Dreamboat Records will know as The Rollercoaster Project. His music will, of course, feature on the soundtrack alongside music performed by Robert Pattinson and an original score composed by Joe Hastings and produced by Gary Moore.

How To Be is the debut feature from writer-director Oliver Irving. At first fancying himself an “enigmatic poet,” twentysomething Art (Pattinson) gradually realizes that he must take action if he’s going to escape his depressed life as a struggling musician in London. A solution comes in the shape of a book titled “It’s Not Your Fault.” Not content to just draw inspiration from its pages, however, Art invites the elderly author of the book to come live with him and his parents, which quickly becomes a painfully funny journey about dysfunction and growing up.

March 2 Update: We are pleased to announce that the How To Be soundtrack is getting a wider worldwide release than we had originally planned. Unfortunately this means that we’ve had to move the release back a little, but the good news is that you wont have to wait very long. Following on from the success of the In the Grip of Light EP, The Allender Band release their debut album Outer Dark on 16 March, 2009.

Outer Dark continues in a similar vein to In the Grip of Light. The album perfects The Allender Band’s trademark sound of intricate guitar work, spacious arrangements and country-tinged melodic rock.

The deceptively simple, classic sound of ‘Riverrun’ has already enjoyed airplay on Gideon Coe’s BBC 6 Music show, and we’ve made an MP3 of this track available for free download.

The album is available to pre-order from the Dreamboat Records website shop. Orders will ship before the end of February. It will also shortly be available to download from iTunes.

Robin Allender will be performing a solo show at the Electroacoustic Club, London on 10th February with The Gala Band and the Olympic Symphonium.

Robin Allender’s debut release with a full band, In the Grip of Light, will be released by Dreamboat Records on 26th May.

The Allender Band is made up of Alex Wilkins on guitar, Sam Tarbuck on bass and Dave Collingwood on drums.

The E.P. moves away from the acoustic-based folk of Allender’s solo album The Bird and the Word towards a more expansive sound. While still featuring Allender’s hushed vocal delivery and unusual, poetic lyrics, In the Grip of Light also contains elements of rock, gothic country and experimental indie. The EP’s lush, spacious melodicism recalls Red House Painters, while its subtle, dynamic arrangements show the influence of post-rock figureheads Talk Talk and The For Carnation.

The EP costs £4 and is available to buy from the Dreamboat Records website, and will shortly be available to download from iTunes and Bleep.

The band will be performing, and selling copies of the EP, at Bristol’s Folk House on Saturday 24th May.
