FAMILY REUNIONS - THE PERFECT FAMILY PHOTO OP!

2011-06-24T23:10:00.000-04:00

In this day and age, we all lead such busy lives. It becomes increasingly difficult to connect with those we love. We might live in different states, or lead conflicting schedules, there are many reasons why we can't often get all of our beloved family members together in one place. When we can accomplish this, what better opportunity to hire a professional photographer to capture some special, rare family portraits?

That's exactly what the Weiner family did last month. Every 5 years or so they manage to take a few days out of their busy lives to spend time with their extended family at the beautiful Club Med Sandpiper in Port Saint Lucie.
We got many great shots, the whole family, the grandparents with their grandchildren, some individual family groupings, even an engagement portrait!

Needless to say, the whole family is more than happy that they took the time to take these special portraits!

Why not schedule your family's family sitting now? The location session fee is only $75 and packages start at only $68. Call and reserve YOUR portrait day NOW!! You'll be so glad you did!

FINE ART PHOTOGRAPHY

2011-05-18T00:47:00.000-04:00

Photography in its purest sense is surely one of the most eclectic artforms out there. When looking for pieces with which to decorate your own living space, freshen up your business and offices, or as a gift, consider a few framed photographs. One of the most affordable ways to decorate, a photograph can inject new life into an otherwise mundane work or living space. When you find that perfect piece, one that reflects your interests and personality, it can make the whole room feel rejeuvenated. A piece that reflects the recipient's interest will make a wonderfully personal, one-of-a-kind gift and show that you put a great amount of thought and time into your selection.

My fine art photography is available in a variety of choices, including matted and framed prints, greeting cards, posters, t-shirts, etc. Click on the link and have a look!

Who Took The Photos on a Photographer's Website?

2010-10-05T23:19:00.003-04:00

A recent trend being used by some new, inexperienced wedding and portrait photographers may shock you. It did me! I learned of it from a photographer who actually did this. He told me he had finally booked his first wedding. I asked how that could be as I had visited his site and had viewed quite a few wedding photos there. What he told me left me speechless. Let me explain.

Let's say that you are in need of a photographer to shoot your wedding. Like so many of today's modern wedding couples you might begin your search online. You do a Google search for wedding photographers in your area. Then you visit each of these sites and carefully examine the photographs you find there. You look at each gallery, trying to find a photographer who shoots their photographs in the styles that you two like and want for your own once-in-a-lifetime photographs. Of course, you shop for the best price available. If all goes well, you hire the photographer who took the beautiful portraits that you saw on his or her site.

Or do you??

What shocked me is learning that many of these photographs that you viewed on certain sites were not taken by that photographer at all. They are "stock photos", shots taken by professional photographers who then sell them to one or more of the many stock photo sites on the web. These photos, or the right to use them, are in turn sold to anyone who can pay for them, and then posted on the photographer's site and falsely portrayed as their own work! Unbelieveable, right? And while this practice is perfectly legal, it is, in my opinion, unethical and misleading. It misrepresents what work the photographer is able to do, as well as how much experience this photographer has or doesn't have shooting weddings.

So how do you protect yourself from this misrepresentation?

First and foremost, as in most everything else, you get what you pay for! When a photographer quotes you an unbelieveably low price, far lower than anything else you've seen, be cautious. This might be one of their first weddings, and they don't have the confidence and the experience that you need in a wedding photographer. Secondly, when you have your face-to-face with the photographer, make sure that they can produce for you the same photos that you saw on their site. This is the litmus test. If they are proud enough of them that they made their way to their site, they will more than likely have them in print or in an album to show you.

Thankfully, most photographers are talented, honest, and hardworking people that are more than qualified to shoot a wedding. With a little caution on your part, you will find the perfect one for you!

Welcome to Dreamcatcher's Blog!

2010-10-05T19:32:00.001-04:00

Hello Everyone!

Today is my first blog day. Photography is my most loved passion, something I just can't live without! As a professional wedding and portrait photographer, there are many subjects that I can offer very valuable advice on, from how to choose the photographer that is right for you, to tips on making sure that what you see on their site is what you get from your choice of professional. I am also a nature and commercial photographer and might just have a few pointers to share in those areas as well.

I will be posting many helpful topics for wedding planners, brides, and people looking for answers to many questions. I welcome any comments, suggestions for threads, and questions that you might have.

I am also planning to start providing a little preview "tease" here for anyone that I photograph, and I am encouraging anyone who would like to post a review of the work I have done for them here as well. There is no tool more valuable when you are searching for a photographer than to hear what previous clients have to say.

Once again, welcome! May this be just the first step on an exciting journey!
