DreamHorse Changes and Bug Watch!

Hi All,
We have been working really hard this winter on some enhancements to DreamHorse.com. It has been a long, cold winter and we have taken this opportunity to make some changes that we have had on our To-Do list for quite some time. Here's a partial list:

New Image Uploader that is Not Picky about Image Size. It resizes them!!!
New Change Thumbnail Screen so you can swap between thumbnails on ads with multiple photos
Simplified, more flexible Order Options for Photo Ads
New Send Video button to make it easier to send us your video link
New Manage Pedigree Screen with proper tab order between fields
New Manage Skill and Skill-Level Screen
Upgraded Saved Searches to match Advanced Search More Closely
Covering Sire field for Bred Mares
A place to enter what you might TRADE for if you have May Trade set to Yes
Overall clean-up of Fonts and Styles on the pages
Upgraded Advanced Search to handle all the new fields

We've been busy upgrading DreamHorse this winter. The latest is to help streamline the add-entry process by creating a separate Manage Pedigree screen. When creating and editing ads, watch for the new Manage Pedigree button for a much simpler one-screen pedigree. Pressing the tab button will move you down the list, generation by generation, making it much easier to enter your pedigrees.

We also have a brand new Image Uploader and simplified Order Options! As always, DreamHorse offers unlimited, free text ads, so if you have a horse to sell or stallion to market, why not give it a try?!

New Feature: Change Thumbnail!

If you have a photo ad on our site with multiple photos, such as our Gallery Ad, Video Ad or Stallion Ad, you can now change your small, thumbnail image. You can decide which thumbnail you would like to appear in the Search Results List. (Our Spotlight ads will display your Spotlight Artwork once it is complete.)

To change your thumbnail, login to My DreamHorse and click the EDIT HORSE button on any photo ad. Your current thumbnail will appear in the Special Options at the top of the Edit screen for the horse. The CHANGE THUMBNAIL button will appear directly beneath the current thumbnail. When you click it, a list of available thumbnails will appear and you may select which one you prefer to use. Click the UPDATE THUMBNAIL button, and the change will be immediate. This will give your ad a fresh, new look!

Fancy New Image Uploader is Running Now!

The new Image Uploader is running now in BETA test mode! I think you will love it because it lets you upload all of the photos for a particular horse at once, plus gives you the capability to rotate and crop the photos. Also, best of all, it is not picky about your original file size! If you would like to try it, first place your order for a photo ad and then use the New Image Uploader to upload your photos. There is a link in My DreamHorse as well as on the Old Original Uploader to get you to the New BETA Image Uploader! Thanks!

New Image Uploader Coming Soon!

I have been working hard on a new image uploader for our photo ad orders. It is very close to release and is being tested now. This new software will allow our customers to quickly upload up to 4 photos at a time. Each upload set will be for ONE HORSE. It even has options for rotating and cropping the images! The best thing about it is that the customer does not have to worry about the size of the original image. The program is able to resize the images during the upload process which will make it very easy for our customers to get the photos to our photos department as quickly as possible. Watch for this coming very soon!

Chrome Problem Fixed on Add/Edit Horse

We believe we have resolved the problems with the Google Chrome browser not working on our add and edit horse screens. An entirely new validation routine has been written. If you continue to have problems with Google Chrome on our site, please be sure to contact our Help Desk and let us know.

Issues with Google Chrome

The Google Chrome browser is not working properly within My DreamHorse to create and edit ads. Chrome will not let you get past the validation routines that make sure the required fields are entered. We are working on rewriting these screens so that they will work properly with Google Chrome. These validation routines have been working successfully with all other browsers for many years without issue. Please use ANY browser other than Google Chrome for creating and editing ads until we are able to get this issue resolved. Thank you for your patience.

New Like/Dislike Button

We have always listened to requests from our users for improvements to our site. Our latest enhancement is an improvement over our Save Favorite Horse button. Although the button has been on the site for several years, we had a suggestion from a user who wanted to have more capability on the button such as a place to write a note about the horse and the option to Dislike or possibly even Hide a horse from further consideration.

We are still working on some of the screens associated with the new "Like/Dislike" button, but the button itself is working well and quite a few users are already taking advantage of being able to write notes to themselves about a horse they like or dislike.

Keep in mind that it works best if you have logged into My DreamHorse before using any of the tool buttons on the horse ads. We don't require Login to shop on our site because we feel that this would limit the number of visitors who view and respond to our ads, but as a serious shopper and/or seller on DreamHorse, it will always work best if you do go ahead and Login to My DreamHorse to take advantage of being able to run saved searches, like/dislike horses, email friends, etc.

Community Flagging

We do our best to keep non-horse ads and fake, scammer ads off the site. Some examples of ads that should be flagged on DreamHorse:

Fake ads
Dog ads
Boarding ads
Slanderous warning ads
Horses with ownership in dispute

Please help us remove these unwanted ads promptly so your searches can be clear of unwanted listings that don't belong on DreamHorse. If you see an ad such as those listed above on our site, please click the FLAG AD button found on the full-page ad. After a certain number of flags are placed on an ad, it will be automatically FLAGGED DOWN by our community so that it can no longer been seen in our search results listings. This is a quick and easy way to alert our staff to problem ads.

Video Ads Available

DreamHorse now offers a video ad package available on both DreamHorse and TackTrader.

DreamHorse was one of the first sites to offer video ads several years ago, but due to lack of interest from customers and standardization at the time, we discontinued that feature. However, with the changes in technology and with more people able to create digital video and upload it to the internet, we have reinstated video ads on the site.

We have noticed that many of our customers already have video on YouTube (search) . The benefit of this affiliation is that YouTube will allow a 100MB video file to be uploaded to their site that is up to 10 Minutes Long! So, if you can go ahead and start getting your videos uploaded to YouTube, it can be connected to your DreamHorse photo ad!

YouTube Sharing Options: On the YouTube.com site, you will need to have the SHARING OPTIONS for your VIDEO set to YES for "EMBEDDING" so that your video can be "embedded and played on external sites."

We have also set up a community "Group" for DreamHorse users on YouTube located at:
http://www.youtube.com/group/dreamhorse

We can attach a video from many different video sharing sites such as Google Video, Vimeo, etc. We just need to have access to the "embed code" for the video.

With this solution, we will simply be linking to an EXISTING video -- not transferring, saving, or modifying the video in any way -- so a good way to get started is to learn how to upload your digital video to YouTube.com. You will see a new option in our order options screen for a Video Package ad which will include some combination of photos and video. Before ordering, your digital video should already be on the YouTube site.
