This was a photo I took some months ago while taking a scroll in Braga. I love what it says. “Olha para a tua vida e diz que futuro vês” means “Look at your life and tell me what kind of future you see”.
I truly believe that if you want something in your life you’ve to fight for it. There are no given things in life. That sucks I know that (too well actually). So if we don’t like something in your life we are the ones that need to change that. Right now what do you see in your future? Do you like it? No? So change it.
That’s my message for the new year. Let’s give your best!

It’s been a while right? I moved to a new place: my own place, my own apartment. I’m super happy to be honest! But I only got internet here this week! I don’t have many news besides living by myself (which by the way is great).
Just wanted to say hi and I’m not planning on abandoning this blog. I’ve a couple of things I’ve been doing that I want to show you but I don’t have any photos at the moment.

An apartment to decorate!

I waited until all the papers were signed to say something but it’s now official: I’m renting my own apartment! It’s something that I’ve been wanting to do for ages and while it’s more expensive than renting a room I’m ready for this adventure! More news to come

Bye bye Lisbon!

This is so sudden but I’m leaving Lisbon in two weeks! I wasn’t expecting to leave so early and I haven’t visited as much as I wanted to but I’m glad I was here more than two months! I never really liked Lisbon that much and this city has a small place in my heart now. Porto is going to be an all new adventure but I’ll keep you updated!
Thank you Lisbon for receiving me in such a hard time for me, for receiving my tears and showing me that things can be better than we think.

Mosteiro dos Jerónimos and CCB

Yesterday it was a great day! I woke up around 7am fully charged (it was like 9:30pm when I went to bed) and ready to visit Lisbon! I left early so I could have time for everything. I started by going to Feira da Ladra, which is an amazing fair, full of cheap stuff and antiques! Just my kind of fair to be honest. I spent around 4hours there! And you know one thing? I bought 8 books for you know how much? 5 euros! 5 of them from Agatha Christie. Maybe one day I’ll have all her books just by buying used ones Seriously I love going to the fair, it’s a world out there! My kind of fun! I called my mom asking if she wanted a jacket and after she said no she said to me: I see that you’re in your element. Have fun! I’m glad to have parents that know me so well.
After going to the fair I decided to go to a small comics and poetry fair where I bought a comics zine. I’m not a huge fan of poetry so I only went there for the comics. Check out their blog if you’re interested.

After spending quite a while finding the right bus I decided to go to Torre de Belém. It’s one of those things everyone must visit. But let me say: I didn’t make it there yesterday. Why? First I made a stop at Mosteiro dos Jerónimos. I stayed a while admiring the architecture that I studied when I was younger in school. I just entered the church because I didn’t feel like paying the entrance fee. Still there was a lot of inspiration there. All those nautical elements, I remember loving to study the construction of this monument.

After leaving I was going to Torre de Belém when I saw the sign saying “Centro Cultural de Belém”. I always heard about it so I was super curious. I stayed a long time visiting the museum. It was great to see many works of art but after walking through the museum for a long time I was tiiiired! So I forgot about Torre de Belém, definitely next time!

Happy Birthday

Today is my birthday. I never do something very special on this day but I think today is going to suck. I’ll have to work and I won’t be with any of my friends or family. This sucks. I’m all alone here in Lisbon but today, more than any other day, I wasn’t.

First Time Making Onigiri

Let me first say that I’m a little bit addicted to manga and anime. I think the whole origin was the anime and manga “Ouran High School Host Club”. If you never read the manga please read it, you’ll love it.
I’m also interested in different kinds of food (when I think of travelling somewhere I also think about all the food I’d eat). Reading so much manga made me even more curious to the japanese culture. I’m curious about all diferent kinds of beverages they have there, snacks completely different from ours here, all those vending machines, all the kawaii stuff and the japanese culture in general. I really wish someday I can visit Japan. For now I’ll continue dreaming.
All this story just to say that I made onigiri. One of the advantages of living in the capital is that I came across a japanese supermarket where I bought sushi rice and nori! Onigiri is something that requires some time (I did mine in about 3 hours) but it was super fun! You should have seen my joy when I tasted them! I ate some for dinner (one filled with tuna, YUM!) and had some left for lunch. You know one more thing I love too? Bentos! I really admire how some people can make so many beautiful bentos. I made mine super simple but I loved the result.
I’ll definately make this again.

Lisbon can be beautiful

After spending a weekend visiting Lisbon I’m starting to like to live in this city. I don’t know why but Lisbon never seemed appealing to me.
After walking by the river yesterday I realized Lisbon is actually a beautiful city.

Waiting in the airport

I had 5 rolls of film waiting to be developed…they were waiting for some money to appear. When money is tight every little dime counts. But since I started working I was able to develop all the 5 rolls at once so I’ve lots of photographs now It’s great to see photographs from two years ago, even just photos from July made me happy! That’s the magic of analog photography. You don’t see the results right away and end up forgetting what you did to take the photo.
