Qualche giorno fa ho visitato una nuova zona della Toscana che ancora non conoscevo; inizio parlandovi di Borgo a Mozzano, piccolo paese a mezzora da Lucca. L'attrattiva più interessante di questo posto è sicuramente il ponte della Maddalena, meglio conosciuto come "Ponte del Diavolo". La leggenda narra che il costruttore del ponte chiese aiuto al diavolo per terminare l'opera dato che aveva difficoltà a realizzare l'arco maggiore; il diavolo accosentì ma in cambio pretese l'anima del primo essere vivente che passava da lì; il costruttore quindi raggirò il diavolo attraverso uno stratagemma: fece attraversare il ponte ad un cane. Il diavolo puntualmente prese l'anima del povero cane e se ne andò.

A few days ago I visited a new area of Tuscany that I ddidn't known, I start by telling you about Borgo a Mozzano, a small town a half hour from Lucca. The most interesting attraction of this place is the bridge of the Maddalena, better known as "Devil's Bridge". Legend told that the builder of the bridge asked for the devil's help to finish the work as he had difficulty in building the major arc, but the devil agreed but in exchange he claims the soul of the first living being that passed from there, then the manufacturer make forced a dog to cross the bridge. The devil took the soul of his dog and he went away.

Tra l'altro voglio confermare che... si, c'è lo zampino del diavolo in quel ponte! La forma sicuramente è originale e bellissima ed è un'opera piuttosto bella ed imponente da vedere dal vivo. Ed inoltre, quel giorno c'era una strana signora, diciamola così, che attraversava di continuo il ponte con la testa e la schiena chine, inginocchiandosi di tanto in tanto e blaterando qualcosa da sola, forse per rendere grazie a qualche divinità satanica. In tutto questo, ignorava completamente le mie domande su come stesse e continuava il suo percorso della pazzia sul ponte. Inutile dire che questo evento ha soddisfatto il mio solito desiderio di vedere qualcosa fuori dal normale e potete ammirarlo nella prima foto.

I want to confirm that ... yes, there is the hand of the devil in that bridge! The shape is original and beautiful and the bridge is nice and impressive to see live. And besides, that day there was a strange lady, so let it be said, continually crossing the bridge with her head and her back bowed, kneeling and muttering something to herself, maybe to give thanks to some satanic deity. In all this, she completely ignored my question :"how are you?do you feel good?" and she continued her path of madness on the bridge. Needless to say that this event satisfied my desire to see something out of the ordinary and you can admire it in the 1st photo.

Dopodichè, mi sono fermata qualche minuto in un paese chiamato Fornoli, per fotografare il "Ponte delle catene" , costruito a metà del 1800.

Then, I stopped a few minutes in a town called Fornoli, to photograph the "Chain Bridge", built in 1800.

Poco dopo troviamo un altro paese: Ghivizzano, dominato da un bel castello che potete vedere nel primo panorama.

Altra tappa: Coreglia Antelminelli, uno dei borghi più belli d'Italia, situato in Provincia di Lucca e raggiungibile facilmente attraverso una strada che sale sempre di più e da cui si può ammirare un bellissimo panorama.

Another stage: Coreglia Antelminelli, defined as one of the most beautiful villages in Italy, located in the Province of Lucca and easily accessible through a road that goes up and up and from which you can admire a beautiful view.

Ed infine, ho visitato Barga, un altro piccolo paese che fa parte della lista dei borghi più belli d'Italia. Se vi trovate da queste parti fate un salto in questo bel posticino. Il paese è dominato dal duomo dedicato a San Cristoforo e raggiungibile a piedi attraverso varie affascinanti viuzze. C'era davvero pochissima gente, anzi praticamente nessuno e questo mi è piaciuto, dato che non amo i posti troppo sfruttati turisticamente. Ho preso un caffè in un bar situato nella piazzetta centrale, sembrava di essere fermi agli anni sessanta, una figata per me che amo le atmosfere vintage! Inoltre, c'erano dei bei palazzi d'epoca e come vedete da ciò che ho fotografato, mi sono dilettata a cercare scritte curiose. La prima si commenta da sola, mentre nella seconda mi piaceva il disegno riguardante il divieto di deiezione per i cani (eh si..ho imparato anche una nuova parola). In più, chicca finale, poco lontano da Barga, si trova la cappella dove è sepolto Giovanni Pascoli, proprio lui!! Bene, la mia gita finisce qua. Tutti questi posti si trovano molto vicini tra loro e sono visitabili tranquillamente in una giornata.

And finally, I visited Barga, another small village that is part of the list of the most beautiful villages in Italy. If you are near this zone make a trip in this beautiful spot. The village is dominated by the cathedral dedicated to Saint Christopher and reachable on foot through several charming streets. There was very few people, indeed anyone and I liked that, because I do not like the overgrazed places. I drank a coffee in a bar located in the central square, seemed to be firm to the sixties, a blast for me who I love the atmosphere of vintage! Se c'è una cosa che vorrei tentare di fare nel miglior modo possibile è quella di raccontare le storie che quotidianamente mi scorrono sotto gli occhi. Questo blog è un tentativo di farlo attraverso le parole ma anche le immagini, perchè anche le fotografie rappresentano una vera e propria narrazione. Mi sono sempre chiesta quale fosse il modo più concreto per lasciare tracce di noi lungo il percorso che scegliamo di intraprendere.. ovviamente la domanda è ancora aperta (perlomeno finchè non mi auto-trasformerò in guru della situazione, colui che dall'alto della sua sapienza guida il mondo e conosce ogni risposta, ma non credo di essere destinata a questo ruolo..auahauh); ma forse, pensandoci bene, uno dei tanti modi è scrivere o imprimere negli scatti fotografici ciò che avviene attorno a noi. Non vi capita mai di leggere un articolo, un racconto, un libro o anche semplicemente un blog e restarne colpiti al punto di trarne ispirazione? Io si; a volte leggo storie che mi rimangono impresse e mi fanno capire dove sto andando o dove magari vorrei andare. Mi capita lo stesso con le fotografie; certi immagini mi fanno sognare, sia che si tratti di paesaggi, o ritratti, di fotografie a sfondo sociale o di viaggio, mi lascio sorprendere dai colori, dai particolari e dalla bellezza della composizione. Ecco...io credo che questi siano due modi attraverso cui si può lasciare un segno del proprio vissuto. Non è necessario fare chissà cosa, le azioni quotidiane hanno un grande peso e nel nostro piccolo ognuno di noi può fare qualcosa per mostrare qualcosa di se o trasmettere le proprie idee. Ecco perchè anche questo spazio ha un suo valore, perchè qualcuno potrebbe passare di qua e trovare l'ispirazione giusta per fare qualcosa, per intraprendere una nuova avventura o per trovare la sua strada, semplicemente attraverso la lettura delle nostre storie e la visione delle nostre immagini.

If there's one thing I want to make in a best way is to tell the stories that run every day under my eyes. This blog is an attempt to make it through words but also images, because the photographs represent a true narrative. I've always wondered what was the most tangible way to leave traces of us along the path we choose to take .. obviously the question is still open (at least until I turn into the guru of the situation, who from his wisdom guides the world and knows every answer, but I think this is not my role .. auahauh), but perhaps, to think of it, one way is to write or take photos about what happens around us. Do you ever read an article, a novel, a book or even just a blog that inspired you? This often happens to me; sometimes I read stories which are a source of inspiration and they helo me to understand where I'm going or where I might go. It happens the same with the photographs, some pictures make me dream: landscapes or portraits, social or travel photographs; I am surprised by colors, details and the beauty of the composition. Here ... I think these are two ways through which you canleave a mark of your own life. Everyday actions have great power in our small and each of us can do something to show our real essence or communicate our ideas. That's why this space has its value, because someone could go here and find the inspiration to do something, or to undertake a new adventure to find his way, simply by reading our stories and vision our images.

Restringere le distanze e veder emergere i particolari, osservare da lontano per poi scoprire ogni singola piccola cosa che faceva parte di quel colore lontano, avvicinarsi a qualcosa che non si conosceva e scoprirne i dettagli o a qualcosa che già si conosceva per conoscerlo ancora meglio; nelle fotografia così come nella vita.

Ciao a tutti! Qua si lavora a più non posso, ma oggi mi sono concessa un bel giro in città e nei dintorni! Il tempo era leggermente nuvoloso, ma c'era una bellissima luce! Uscire di mattina ad Alghero è bellissimo perchè si respira una pace e serenità che scompare subito dopo pranzo, quando le strade diventano più frenetiche e quell' atmosfera particolare che piace tanto a me inizia a perdersi!

Hello everyone! Here, I'm working like crazy, but today I go for a walk in the town and around! The weather was slightly overcast, but there was a beautiful light! Walk in the morning in Alghero is beautiful because you can breathe a peace and serenity that disappears right after lunch, when the roads become more noisy and the special atmosphere that I like so much, starts to get lost!

La zona più bella del circondario è la strada che da Alghero va verso la panoramica di Capo Caccia, una strada lunga circa 30 km che costeggia il mare e da cui si può godere di uno spettacolo fantastico, come potete vedere dalle foto! Si tratta di una zona naturale bellissima caratterizzata da spiagge ma anche scogliere e strapiombi meravigliosi. Qui nei dintorni si trova anche un Parco Naturale detto Arca di Noè, da cui si può ammirare un isolotto che si chiama Isola Piana. Invece l'isola che vedete qua sopra si chiama Foradada e si può ammirare dal belvedere nei pressi di Capo Caccia!

The most beautiful part of the area is the road that goes from Alghero to the overview of Cape Caccia, a 30 km long road that runs along the sea and from where you can enjoy a fantastic view, as you can see from the photos! It is a beautiful natural area characterized by overhanging cliffs and wonderful beaches. Here is also located the Natural Park called Noah's Ark, where you can see a small island called Isola Piana. Instead the island you can see up here is called Foradada and you can admire it from the lookout near Cape Caccia!

Ed infine lei è Chiara, detta Claire, una delle mie migliori amiche! Senza neanche volerlo, è uscito un super servizio fotografico. Le foto spontanee sono le migliori e la location era bellissima! Un pontile deserto in una piccola spiaggia nei pressi di Capo Caccia! E pensare che d'estate quel posto è super caotico..mentre oggi era un paradiso! I love Sardinia!

And finally she is Claire, one of my best friends! Without the intention, we realized super photos. The spontaneous shots are the best and the location was beautiful! A jetty desert in a small beach near Cape Caccia! In summer this place is super chaotic .. but today was a paradise! I love Sardinia!

"Nel pomeriggio in uno dei villaggi in cui siamo andate hanno preparato uno spettacolo di danza per noi! Appena siamo arrivate si sono privati delle loro panche colorate per farci sedere, mentre tutti loro stavano in piedi o per terra. Incredibille il senso di ospitalità che hanno queste persone, non hanno quasi nulla ma per farti sentire a tuo agio si privano di quel poco che hanno! Lo spettacolo è iniziato con alcuni bambini che si sono scatenati su musiche indiane ma anche occidentali! Poi le donne si sono esibite in una danza tipica con delle particolari nacchere! Durante lo spettacolo ho fatto amicizia con dei bambini del villaggio; ci esprimevano un po' a gesti, un po' con le poche parole della loro lingua che conoscevo (il dialetto telegu), un po' in inglese! Hanno cercato di insegnarmi a fischiare in un modo strano che usavano loro e io gli ho insegnato a schioccare le dita! Se non ci riuscivano gli facevo sfregare le mani con forza sui pantaloni, come se fosse una magia, e poi li invitavo a riprovare! La forza della suggestione faceva si che ci riuscissero! Era divertente! Stavano ridendo come matti e ad un tratto il maestro li ha allontanati da me con la bacchetta credendo che mi stessero disturbando!Nonostante tutto non si sono arresi, da lontano cercavano di farsi notare da me schioccando le dita di continuo e non si sentiva altro sche schiocchi e risate! Prima di andare via sono venuti a dirmi in inglese che ero "Wonderful and beautiful" e una "special friend"; sono bastate poche ore per diventare speciale ai loro occhi! Il bello è stato quando stavamo lasciando il villaggio, poiché si sono messi a rincorrere la jeep, schioccando le dita come gli avevo insegnato e urlando il mio nome con tutta la forza di cui erano capaci! Il fatto è che parti per un'avventura che pensavi non fosse fatta per te..e poi improvvisamente scopri che in realtà il tuo destino era proprio quello: partire e accorgersi che non potevi essere in un posto migliore!"

India 03/08/2007

"In that afternoon we went to the villages where people prepared a dance show for us! As soon as we arrive they offered us their colored benches to sit down while they were all standing or on the ground! It's incredible the sense of hospitality that these people have: they have almost nothing but they try to offer us their little things! The show began with some children who danced on Indian music! Then the women have performed in a dance with typical castanets! During the show I made friends with the children of the village, we spoke with gestures, with a few words of their language I knew (the Telugu dialect) and finally in English! They tried to teach me to whistle in a strange way they used and I taught him to snap his fingers! If they could not, I made him rub his hands firmly on his pants, as if it were a magic, and then inviting them to try again! The power of suggestion made that we will succeed! It was fun! They were laughing like mad and suddenly the teacher turned them away from me with his wand, believing that they were disturbing me! Despite this they did not give up, trying to get noticed from a distance, they continued snapping his fingers and we could hear only snaps and laughter! Before leaving they came to me and they told me in English that I was "Wonderful and beautiful" and a "special friend"! I need only a few hours to become special! Amazing! The great thing was when we were leaving the village, since they started chasing the jeep, snapping his fingers as I had taught and yelling my name with all the force they were capable of! The fact is that you start an adventure that you thought it was not made for you .. and then suddenly you discover that your destiny was just that: go and see that you could not be in a better place! "

Ho passato tutta la settimana a tradurre con le cuffie nelle orecchie. La scadenza del lavoro si avvicina e il tempo è poco. Ieri ho fatto una pausa passeggiando sul mare ed è inutile ripetere quanto sia bello questo panorama che si gode dalla mia città. Ho creato una pagina in Facebook dedicata al blog e se volete saperne di più cliccate qua.

I spent the whole week translating with music in my ears. The deadline is approaching and the working time is short. Rullo di tamburi ... domani questo piccolo blog diventa grande e compie il suo primo anno di vita! Era il 12 Gennaio 2011 quando una giovane ed inesperta Melrose entrava a far parte di questo mondo virtuale a piccoli passi, imparando a poco a poco a destreggiarsi tra le varie funzioni di Blogger. A quel tempo ero in procinto di partire per l'Estonia e decidevo di creare questa pagina per descrivere la mia avventura tra i ghiacci baltici. Nel corso di quest'anno ho raccontato poi tante altre avventure tra Africa, India, Spagna e qua e la in Italia. Ho deciso di usare questo spazio come se fosse un diario personale, una pagina in cui annotare pensieri sparsi, pubblicare fotografie di viaggio e descrivere come scorre la mia vita. Rileggendo il blog sono stata felice di ritrovare pezzi di me sparsi qua e la e rivivere le mie vecchie avventure in giro per il mondo. Questo spazio mi descrive alla perfezione, un amico che passa di qua mi riconoscerebbe senz'altro nei miei racconti e direbbe come si dice in Sardegna "Milla mi". Quindi non posso che continuare questa avventura virtuale ed augurarmi di trovare sempre nuovi spunti per questo piccolo mondo che è il mio blog.

Drum roll ... tomorrow this little blog will grow up and will be one year! It was January 12, 2011 when a young and inexperienced Melrose became part of this virtual world steps by step, gradually learning to juggle the various features of Blogger. At that time I was about to leave for Estonia, and I decided to create this page to describe my adventure through the icy Baltic. During this year I told you many other adventures in Africa, India, Spain and here and there in Italy. I decided to use this space as if it were a personal diary, a page where I write down random thoughts, I post travel photos and I describe how my life flows. Re-reading the blog I was happy to find pieces of me scattered here and there and relive my old adventures around the world. This space describes me perfectly, a friend who passed this way surely recognize me in my stories and say as we say in Sardinia "Milla mi." (english readers: this is a Sardinian expression to say "here,she is!"). So I can continue this virtual adventure and wish me to always find new ideas for this little world that is my blog.

Per il prossimo anno auguro a tutti i miei followers di poter godere delle piccole cose che quotidianamente la vita ci offre. Non occorre necessariamente aspettare i grandi eventi per gioire, anche perché rischiamo di perdere i bei momenti che ogni giorno ci scorrono davanti. Bisogna sfruttare il tempo, ogni singolo giorno è importante per fare le cose che amiamo fare e non solo per attendere la prossima grande avventura o sfida della nostra vita.

For the next year I wish all my followers to be able to enjoy the little things that life offers us every day. You do not necessarily wait for the big events to rejoice, because we risk losing the good times that flow before us every day. Vi auguro di nutrire quotidianamente la vostra immaginazione. Quando siamo tristi la cosa che rende le nostre giornate migliori è la capacità di immaginare alternative felici, di creare nuove strade laddove ancora non esistono e di credere che i brutti momenti siano solo passeggeri perché nuove felicità ci attendono. Se non fossimo capaci di creare opere d'arte della nostra mente, la nostra vita sarebbe grigia. Invece ci è stata data l'opportunità di colorare il mondo con la nostra immaginazione, di vedere qualcosa di ridicolo anche dove non c'è, di ridere per stupidaggini perché ci va di farci una risata, di pensare a situazioni che non avverrano mai ma esserne comunque felici, di captare qualcosa di magico anche nella cruda realtà. Sinceramente, questa è la mia dote e spero di non perderla mai.

I wish to nourish your imagination. When we are sad the thing that makes our day better is the ability to imagine happy alternatives, to create new roads where none exist and to believe that bad times are just momentary because happiness await us. If we were not able to create works of art in our minds, our lives would be gray. Instead, we were given the opportunity to color the world with our imagination, to see something ridiculous even where there isn't, laughing at stupid things because we like to make us laugh, to think of situations that will never happen but still be happy, to pick up something magical even in the harsh reality. Honestly, this is my gift and I hope not to lose it.

Siate curiosi. Si..proprio curiosi, nei confronti della vita, delle persone e di ciò che vi circonda. Non esitate a interessarvi di più agli argomenti che vi piacciono, non esitate a conoscere il mondo che pulsa attorno a voi, a interessarvi alle persone con una cultura diversa dalla vostra. Siate ricettivi verso ciò che può insegnarvi qualcosa di nuovo, non ponete barriere, ma cercate di conoscere tutto ciò che è diverso. Non fatevi spaventare da una nazionalità diversa, dall'età, da una malattia, da una religione, ogni persona non desidera che farsi conoscere, ma bisogna rispettarne i tempi e i modi e sopratutto ciascuno può lasciarci un tesoro immenso con la sua amicizia.

Be curious. Yes. Just curious about life, and people around you. Do not hesitate to care for the topics you like, know the world that pulses around you, be interested in people with a culture different from yours. Be receptive to what people can teach you, do not place barriers but try to know all of what is different. Do not be afraid of a different nationality, different age, illness, different religion, any person desires to be known, but you have to respect the time and manner, and above all, rember that everyone can donate us an immense treasure of friendship.

Siate sempre informati sui fatti che avvengono del mondo e nella società, in modo tale da sviluppare le vostre personali idee. Le cose materiali non ci appartengono, ma le idee si; ci rendono persone uniche e originale e per questo è importante avere una propria opinione e un proprio modo di vedere. Le idee sono il mezzo attraverso cui leggiamo il mondo.

Always be informed on the events that take place in the world and in the society, in order to develop your personal ideas. Material things do not belong to us, but the ideas make us unique and original and for this reason is important to have an opinion and a way of seeing. Ideas are the means by which we read the world.

Ed infine: infrangete le regole. Non sempre, ma ogni tanto è bello spezzare la monotonia della quotidianità provando esperienze nuove: che sia un viaggio, o sia un cambiamento qualsiasi nella nostra vita, ogni tanto fate qualcosa che non avete mai fatto prima. La vita non è fatta per ripetere sempre le solite azioni come automi, ma anche per sviluppare nuovi interessi ed iniziare nuove attività.

And finally: break the rules. Not always, but sometimes it's nice to break the monotony of everyday trying a new experience: a journey or any change in our lives; every now and then, do something you've never done before. Life is not made for repeating the usual actions like automatons, but also to develop new interests and start new activities.

Ringrazio i miei 175 followers più tutti gli altri che passano da qua, chi tutti i giorni, chi per caso. E' bello sapere che tante persone approdano in questo spazio e passano qualche minuto con me (virtualmente). In questo anno ho ricevuto un numero gigantesco di visite: ben 53,000, un po' da tutto il mondo. Quindi non posso che esserne felice. Vorrei che questa strada con voi continuasse ancora per molto e sopratutto desidero festeggiare questo compleanno del blog in un modo speciale. Il mio posto sotto un sole diverso, anche se paradossalmente il sole l'ho visto davvero poco, è stato l' Estonia. A gennaio sono partita per questo lontano paese dell' est per svolgere il mio stage in Ambasciata. Quest'avventura è iniziata con una vera e propria bufera di neve che mi ha accolto al mio arrivo in aereoporto e con il mio stupore nel vedere attorno a me metri e metri di neve e tutto il paesaggio bianco e silenzioso! Non posso certo dimenticarmi il momento in cui sono scesa dall'aereo, mi sono guardata attorno e ho pensato "Ma chi me l'ha fatto fare? Dove diavolo sono finita?". Ma siccome la mia gioia di vivere deriva sopratutto da esperienze diverse che non ho mai affrontato ho deciso che mi sarei impegnata a conoscere quel paese nel profondo, nonostante la sua apparente freddezza e la sua cultura diversa. Gennaio quindi, è stato il mese in cui ho iniziato questo mio percorso, difficile ma anche stimolante, in questa realtà così diversa dalla nostra.

Into the wild

My place under a different sun, though paradoxically I've seen the sun a very few times, was Estonia. In January I went to this far country of the east to start my internship at the Embassy. This adventure began with a blizzard of snow that greeted me upon my arrival at the airport and start with my amazement to see around me many meters of snow and all the landscape white and silent! I can not forget the moment I got off the plane, I looked around and thought, "Who made me do? Where the hell am I?". However, since my joy in life comes mainly from different experiences that I have ever faced, I decided that I would like to know that country, despite his apparent coldness and its different culture. January is the month when I started my path, difficult but also challenging, in this reality so different from ours.

Quando arrivi in un paese nuovo e molto diverso come questo, l'inizio non è facile. Nei primi tempi ti si presentano davanti tutte le barriere possibili: una lingua davvero troppo difficile per comunicare, persone molto introverse e silenziose, un clima rigido e grigio, orari di vita differenti, come i pasti che non si sa mai a che ora avvengano o la vita sociale che sembra meno viva della nostra. I primi cinque giorni il mio pensiero è stato "Ho scelto il posto sbagliato". Poi piano piano questa idea è cambiata; non è stato amore a prima vista con questo paese, è stato un amore cresciuto piano piano nei mesi, quando iniziavo a conoscere le persone e capivo che si stavano impegnando fortemente a conoscermi e facevano di tutto per aprirsi, nonostante il loro carattere più chiuso; quando facevo lezione di italiano e il silenzio pian piano ha iniziato a rompersi con le persone che si univano alla mia risata, o quando il paesaggio che inizialmente mi sembrava ostile iniziava a piacermi e sentivo che giorno dopo giorno entrava a far parte della mia vita e della mia routine. Non ho mai pensato un solo giorno di andarmene via, perché probabilmente percepivo le potenzialità nascoste di quelle persone e di quella terra così fredda. E' stata un'esperienza diversa, a tratti dura a tratti emozionante, ma affrontata sempre con felicità.

When you arrive in a place like this new and very different country, the beginning is not easy. In the early days all the possible barriers are in front of you: a language too difficult to communicate, people who are very introverted and quiet, a harsh and gray climate, different times of life, as the meals that you never know what timeyou have to eat or social life that seems less vivid than ours. The first five days, my thought was "I chose the wrong place." Then, slowly this idea has changed, and it was not love at first sight with this country, it was a love grew slowly in the months when I began to know the people and I realized that they were fully committed to know me and they try to open up despite their shy character; when I was at my Italian lessons and silence slowly began to break up with people who joined in my laughter, or when the landscape that initially seemed hostile began to like me and I felt that day after day became part of my life and my routine. I never thought to go away, because I probably felt the hidden potentialities of these people and this cold land. It 'was a different experience, harsh and exciting, but always faced with happiness.

La bellezza si trova nel momento in cui pensi che un posto non sia giusto per te, ma poi ti si presentano davanti delle meraviglie che non avevi pensato e allora capisci che forse quel luogo era più vicino a te di quanto pensassi e quelle stesse meraviglie erano proprio per te. A volte basta avere gli occhi giusti per osservare e la pazienza di scovare i tesori in posti in cui sembra non essercene.

The beauty is when you think that a place is not right for you, but then you discover wonders that you had not thought of and you realize that maybe, this place was closer to you than you thought and those wonderful things were just for you. Sometimes you just have the eyes to look right and patience to find the treasures in places where it seems there's nothing good.

I miei quattro mesi in Estonia sono volati e ho avuto la possibilità di visitare anche alcuni bellissimi posti nel circondario.

My four months in Estonia have flown by and I had the opportunity to visit some beautiful places in the neighborhood.

Sono andata in Finlandia a trovare il mio amico Dans in Erasmus a Turku. Mi sono cimentata egregiamente nel pattinaggio su ghiaccio (e qua scoppia una sonora risata) e ho fatto la sauna seguita da tuffo nel lago esterno. I finlandesi saranno pure matti, ma noi l'abbiamo superati. Temperatura del giorno: -16! Un'esperienza da ricordare!!

I went to Finland to visit my friend Dans in Erasmus in Turku. I have grappled admirably in ice skating (and here bursts out laughing) and I took a sauna followed by a dip in the lake outside. The Finns are crazy, but we have overcome them. Daytime temperature: -16! An experience to remember!

In primavera ho fatto un tour dei paesi Baltici. La Lituania è molto bella, ricca di parchi e aree naturali molto belle. Ma ciò che mi ha colpito di più è stata la collina delle croci, luogo coperto da migliaia di croci e meta di pellegrinaggi da tutto il mondo. Incredibile!

Ho visitato inoltre, la Lettonia e vi proibisco di chiedermi se sia il posto dove si fabbricano i letti! Qua ho vissuto la magnifica esperienza in cui un poliziotto mi ha fermato per strada, assieme a tanta altra gente, perché ho attraversato sulle strisce col rosso! Ha fatto finta di fare il duro della situazione attraverso una ramanzina stile uomo vissuto e ha preso i miei dati (rigorosamente falsi), il tutto condito da risate. Divertente!

I also visited, Latvia! Here I experienced the wonderful time in which a cop stopped me on the street, along with many other people, because I went through a red light on the strips! He pretended to appear as a man of the world and give us a lecture; then, he took my personal datas (always false), all seasoned with laughter. Fun!

A Maggio ho lasciato la piccola Estonia per tornare a casa; è bello lasciare un posto e sapere che in realtà non lo stai lasciando davvero perché li hai creato delle amicizie e hai imparato a conscerne i dettagli, i tempi e le abitudini e tutto ciò continuerà a vivere nella memoria nella speranza in un ricongiungimento futuro. In particolare voglio ricordami di tutti i miei studenti di italiano con il quale ho stretto un bel rapporto, i miei conquilini e il mio collega romanaccio Davide, tutti loro parte integrante del mio bel percorso in quel posto sperduto.

In May I left Estonia and I came back home; it's nice to leave a place and to know that in reality you're not leaving that country because you've created friendships and you have learned to know details, times and customs of that place and everything will continue to live in the memory in the hope of a future reunion. In particular, I want to remember all my students of Italian with whom I created a good relationship, my flatmates and my colleague from Rome Davide, all of them part of my beautiful route in that remote place.

Summer was spent in Sardinia between leisure and work thoroughly enjoying the beautiful sea that it gives us, of its nature and its heat. I do not think I need to say more: I love my island so much.

Ad Agosto è venuta a trovarmi la fantastica Gerda, direttamente dall' Estonia e ha avuto il suo primo contatto con la cultura sarda!

Ho avuto la possibilità per me preziosissima di stare più tempo nella mia terra d'origine, come non potevo fare da tanto tempo e in più ho visitato nuovi posti che ancora non conoscevo.

At the end of September I left my island to seek my fortune and meanwhile I enjoyed the autumn months spending my time between Tuscany and Liguria. Ed infine c'è stata la mia favolosa esperienza in Trentino con Vitanova Trentino Wellness e ho avuto l'onore di trascorrere quattro fantastici giorni sui monti assieme ad altre otto bloggers (Federica, Federchicca, Michela, Francesca, Sara, Sandra, Elena e Ramona) e gli organizzatori Alessio, Cecilia, Marzia, Margherita e il barbuto (ma con classe) Mario. Tutti simpatici e gentili. Un'esperienza unica; non avrei mai creduto che in soli quattro giorni potessero nascere delle belle amicizie, sopratutto perché la mia natura riservata ci mette un po' a farsi conoscere, ma è sempre e comunque propensa alla socialità e alle risate! Grazie a voi per questo tempo passato assieme!

And finally, there was my wonderful experience in Trentino with Vitanova Trentino Wellness and I had the honor to spend four wonderful days in the mountains along with eight other bloggers (Federica, Federchicca, Michela, Francesca, Sara, Sandra, Elena and Ramona) and the organizers Alessio, Cecilia, Marzia, Margherita and the bearded (but with class) Mario. All nice and kind. A unique experience, I never thought that in just four days good friendships could born, especially because my confidential nature takes a little to be known, but it is always prone to socializing and laughter! Thank you for this time spent together!

Ora sono di nuovo in Sardegna felice di poter trascorrere il tempo con la famiglia e gli amici! Sono stata assunta per un progetto del tribunale di Cagliari e per un mese sarò impegnata nella traduzione in inglese di una sentenza! Quest'anno è stato ricco di viaggi, soddisfazioni e nuove amicizie. Ho vissuto tante nuove esperienze e sono entrata in contatto con un gran numero di persone. Sinceramente non cambierei nulla perché per un certo verso anche le difficoltà segnano il cammino e a volte ti conducono paradossalmente in luoghi migliori! L'importante è non smettere di camminare, affrontare i cambiamenti e le sfide quotidiane e non perdere mai quella luce interiore che ti fa godere delle piccole cose e ti invita a cercare sempre la giusta via o a crearne di nuove. Per il 2012 mi auguro di continuare questo viaggio e di non perdere mai il senso dell'avventura, di dedicare il mio tempo migliore alle persone che ho attorno, di accogliere le nuove amicizie (anche aliene dato che verso dicembre prossimo dovremmo avere i primi contatti), di trovare nuove sfide, di continuare a fare le cose con la mia testa costantemente sulle nuvole che è ciò che amo di più! Escursione Zen / Zen hike

Durante il viaggio in Trentino abbiamo avuto la possibilità di fare una ciaspolata, ovvero un'escursione con le racchette da neve. Un'esperienza unica e una vera e propria immersione nella natura, scandita dai rumori ovattati tipici dei paesaggi innevati. A guidarci lungo il nostro cammino fisico ma anche spirituale, è stato Renzo, guida alpina ma anche guru Zen e amante della natura e dei monti. Questa straordinaria guida ci ha introdotto a poco a poco nel suo mondo, tra una sosta e l'altra, allietandoci con la sua condivisibile filosofia di vita. Mostrandoci le tracce di alcuni animali, ci ha parlato dell'importanza dei nostri passi nel mondo; ognuno di noi, lungo la propria strada, lascia delle tracce che rappresentano l'eredità dei nostri figli e dei futuri abitanti. Per questo motivo è necessario dare importanza al peso che i nostri passi possono avere nella nostra vita e in quella delle persone attorno a noi. Ci ha parlato inoltre dell'importanza dei legami, mostrandoci i licheni, ovvero la simbiosi tra alghe e funghi, e il modo in cui interagiscono per sopravvivere. Ci ha offerto del succo di mela caldo a metà strada per cercare di riprendere le forze; infatti ciaspolare è davvero faticoso sopratutto se in salita. Ma il discorso più profondo è avvenuto sulla vetta del monte, una volta raggiunto il fortino austro-ungarico di Barbadifior. Davanti ai nostri occhi si estendevano i monti e si poteva osservare l'intera vallata. Qual miglior scenario per parlare del rapporto tra gli uomini? Di come la guerra mondiale e le attuali guerre abbiano causato morti e distruzione e di come l'odio sia un sentimento che lascia dietro di sé solo ed esclusivamente desolazione e devastazione nelle architetture di luoghi ma sopratutto nel cuore degli uomini. Tuttavia, il pensiero che più mi ha colpito è stato questo: mentre osservavano i bellissimi alberi sempreverdi centenari, Renzo ci ha fatto notare come la natura esista imperturbabile da secoli, testimone degli eventi del mondo e di come noi uomini al contrario, abbiamo un tempo limitato per agire e per dare un senso alle nostre vite. Non dobbiamo restare fermi e sprecare le nostre giornate, non siamo sempreverdi con una vita infinita davanti, siamo creature fragili e con un breve percorso da vivere e per questo dobbiamo considerare prezioso tutto il nostro tempo ed amare ogni singolo minuto e ora che ci è concessa. Come dargli torto? Amo la natura, le escursioni e questa filosofia di vita e adoro ufficialmente quest'uomo! Ciao Renzo, se leggerai :)

What better place to discuss the relationship between men? How the World War and the current wars have caused death and destruction and how hatred is a feeling that leaves behind itself only desolation and devastation in the architecture of places but especially in the hearts of men. But above all, the thought that struck me most was this: while watching the beautiful evergreen trees, Renzo pointed out to us how nature exists undisturbed for centuries and how we men on the contrary, we have a limited time to act and to give meaning to our lives. Antiche tradizioni / Ancient traditions

Durante il viaggio in Trentino abbiamo avuto la preziosa occasione di visitare casa Grazioli, antico edificio su tre piani situato a Strombiano nella Val di Pejo. Questa valle è stata riconosciuta come Ecomuseo per l'impegno profuso dai suoi abitanti nel tenere vive le antiche tradizioni. Noi ne abbiamo avuto un bellissimo esempio: infatti abbiamo potuto assistere alla filatura della lana da parte di alcune signore della zona. Questa zona per lungo tempo è stata famosa per le coltivazioni di lino e il suo meticoloso processo d lavorazione. A casa Grazioli vi sono ancora molti attrezzi agricoli e domestici di una volta, testimoni del tempo passato e di storie vissute dagli abitanti di questa abitazione, tra cui Domenica Grazioli che vi abitò per ben 80 anni. In un depliant dell' Ecomuseo ho letto questa frase "Prendersi cura di qualcuno, di qualcosa, di un luogo, presuppone conoscenza e affetto." La comunità della zona infatti, è impegnata in un processo di salvaguardia delle proprie radici e di tutte quelle peculiarità che rendono originale ed unico il proprio territorio. A tal proposito è importante conservare gli antichi mestieri e preservare quell'inestimabile legame che vi è tra il territorio e le persone che lo abitano. Sono d'accordissimo con questa frase perché ciò che rende speciale un luogo è il bagaglio di usi e costumi che lo contraddistinguono e quel fitto intreccio di storie che lo popolano; per questo ammiro molto il lavoro portato avanti dalla comunità per dar voce al proprio territorio. Dopo la visita è stato allestito per noi un ricco e buonissimo buffet ed inoltre ho potuto vedere le immagini girate circa cinquanta anni fa da un maestro di vent'anni che si traferì per un periodo in questa valle. La cosa carina è che a breve, questo mini-film, sarà presentato alla presenza dell'autore, dopo tanti anni. Ci è stato donato inoltre, un pacchetto regalo che conteneva alcuni libricini sulla zona ed era decorato con fiocchi di lana cardata. Non ho parole per esprimere quanto mi sia piaciuto questo pensiero! Se volete sapere qualcosa in più sul progetto della comunità leggete qua.

Premetto che Cogolo di Pejo è un posto che esprime già in sè tanta tenerezza. Provate a pronunciare la parolo Cogolo, scandendo bene le varie sillabe: Co-go-lo. Ecco, non da l'idea di qualcosa di molto tenero e coccoloso? Secondo me si e vorrei che fosse introdotta questa nuova parola nel dizionario Italiano. Se poi osservate in queste foto gli animali altamente teneri che abitano i dintorni di questa paese, non potete fare a meno di pensare che vorreste accarezzare i loro simpatici musetti. Allora ve li presento: nella prima foto c'è il padrone Pino con Becco, giovane capretta nata a metà novembre! Ma quanto è carina? Pensare che quando ho tentato di coccolarla, lei ha iniziato a succhiare la parte finale della mia treccia credendo che fosse un biberon! Invece, le altre che vedete sono mucche Highlander; hanno il naso morbido e sono delle mangione. Pino, il loro padrone, da il nome a ciascuna di loro come Beethoven e Cindy! Vi piacciono? Io ero felicissima di visitare questa fattoria perchè adoro gli animali e poi non avevo mai avuto l'occasione di poter dare da mangiare a delle mucche Highlander! E' stato divertente perché hanno la lingua grossa e tozza e quando ho allungato la mano per dar loro il pane, me l'hanno praticamente avvolta con la loro super lingua e l'hanno risucchiata! Probabilmente si sono mangiate anche i miei guanti dati che non li trovo più!!

I state that Cogolo Pejo is a place that already expresses itself so tenderly. Try to pronounce the word Cogolo, beating well the different syllables: Co-go-lo. Not the idea of something very soft and cuddly? (English readers i want your opinion: has this word a good sound for you?). I wish it will be introduced in the dictionary. If you look in these photos at the very cute animals that inhabit the surrounding areas of this village, I'm sure that you desire to fondle their cute noses. Then, I want to introduce them to you: in the first picture there is the master Pino with Beak, a young goat born in mid-November! She's so pretty! When I tried to cuddle her, she started to suck the end of my braid thinking it was a bottle! Instead, you can see the Highlander cows: their noses are very soft. Pino, their master, give them a name as Beethoven and Cindy! Do you like them? I was delighted to visit this farm because I love animals and then I had never had the opportunity to feed the cows Highlander! It was fun because they have a large tongue and when I reached out to give them the bread, I have pretty much wrapped up with their super tongue and they sucked my hands! Probably they also eat my gloves because I don't find them!

Eccomi qua..in diretta da Cogolo di Pejo, delizioso paesino montano del Trentino!

Oggi vi racconto il mio primo giorno in questo magnifico posto. Il blog trip organizzato da Vitanova Trentino Wellness inizia a Trento, dove noi bloggers (chi di cucina, chi di viaggio, chi non classificabile come me) veniamo accolte nel Gran Hotel di Trento. Come inizio non c'è male; qua si respira aria natalizia e un gran bel buffet ci da il benvenuto nel migliore dei modi. Inoltre, viene presentato il programma del viaggio, mentre noi bloggers ci strafogavamo allegramente e io uscivo in tutte le foto con la bocca piena (ma questi sono particolari).

Here I am .. Live from Cogolo Pejo, lovely mountain village of Trentino! Today I will tell you my first day in this magnificent place. The trip, organized by Vitanova Trentino Wellness begins at Trento, where the bloggers (who of cooking, those who travel, those who are not classified as I) are received in the Grand Hotel Trento. Here there is air of Christmas and a great buffet welcomes us in the best way. Continua il percorso e tra alti e bassi del mio stomaco arriviamo a Cogolo di Pejo. Non è successo nulla di estremo..diciamo che però mi sono dovuta concentrare per non stare male. Evviva l'arte zen. Ed eccoci all' Hotel Kristiania; che dire? Bellissimo. Le camere sono straordinarie; la mia è un mini-appartamento composto da ingresso, bagno, salotto con divano e camera con tv piatta. Mi sento quasi una vip..o forse grazie a Vitanova, lo sono diventata. Anzi..se tu ..Vitanova mi leggi in questo momento, grazie!!!Sarà un'esperienza che racconterò ai nipotini tra 50 anni!!

We continue the trip and we arrive in Cogolo of Pejo. And here we are at the Hotel Kristiania, that mean? Beautiful. The rooms are amazing, mine is a mini-apartment with entrance, bathroom, living room with sofa and bedroom with Tv. I feel like a VIP .. or perhaps because of Vitanova, I've become. In fact .. if you read me .. Vitanova at this time, thanks! This is a kind of xperience that I will tell my grandchildren in 50 years!

Eccomi qua! Appena tornata dalla Liguria, mi preparo per il mio viaggio in Trentino con Vita Nova Wellness. Non vedo l'ora! Il mio prossimo aggiornamento del blog avverrà quindi in alta quota! In questi giorni ho ritrovato un cd di foto africane e mi sono persa per l'ennesima volta nella bellezza dei paesaggi del Malawi e dello Zambia.

These days I found a CD of photos of African and once again I lost in the beauty of the landscapes of Malawi and Zambia.

Ho ripensato a quella giornata in cui abbiamo visitato una scuola all'aperto con decine di bambini seduti a terra che seguivano la le lezione. E pensare che per noi l' istruzione è qualcosa di scontato. Laggiù devono spesso percorrere chilometri e chilometri per poter andare a scuola: una scuola senza banchi né sedie. Eppure ascoltavano tutti con piacere! E' strano come le cose che noi diamo per scontate perché le abbiamo sempre avute, per altri rappresentano un dono da prezioso da cogliere al volo e sfruttare per potersi migliorare.

I thought back to that day when we visited a school with dozens of children sitting outdoors on the ground who followed the lesson. And we think that the education is a matter of course. There they must often travel miles and miles to go to school: a school without desks or chairs. Yet they all listened with pleasure! It 'funny how the things we take for granted because we have always had, for other people they are a precious gift to be seized in order to improve and exploit themselves.

Era bello incontrare piccoli mercati in mezzo al nulla con la frutta esposta in maniera ordinatissima. Era così invitante. E poi in questi luoghi sbucavano persone e bambini che chissà da dove arrivavano e dove vivevano.

It was nice to see small markets in the middle of nowhere with the fruit in a tidy display. It was so inviting. In these places there were people and children who emerged from nowhere. Who knows where they came from where they lived.

Era emozionante imbattersi nella fauna selvaggia africana e poter ammirare scene di affetto tra una mamma elefantessa e il suo piccolo oppure scorgere in lontananza un ippopotamo ferito, probabilmente da un leone, che lava le proprie ferite in un fiume.

It was exciting to come across the African wildlife and admire scenes of affection between a mother and her little elephant or a hippo see in the distance, wounded, probably by a lion, who washed their wounds in a river.

E poi che bellezza passeggiare nel bel mezzo delle piantagioni del te e incontrare una marea di persone che passavano da li dirette verso la propria meta. Ma questa è un' altra storia e la racconterò un'altra volta!

And then that beautiful walk in the midst of plantations of tea and meet a lot of people who passed by them directed to theirdestination. But this is a different story and I tell you another time!

In giornate come queste vorrei essere laggiù o in qualsiasi altro posto fuori dal mondo a respirare odori nuovi, a parlare con persone appartenenti ad una cultura differente dalla mia, a scoprire le tradizioni di popoli lontani, ad osservare paesaggi ricchi di colori, a scovare particolari speciali da cogliere e a condividere la mia vita con la loro. Ecco, in questo momento vorrei essere laggiù e sentirmi di nuovo viva. E queste immagini mi hanno dato una piacevole sensazione di libertà.. quella libertà che solo il viaggio sa darti, l'emozione di arrivare in un posto nuovo e sapere che tutto ciò che incontrerai durante il tuo cammino sarà un dono incredibile per la tua anima.

During days like these I want to be there or anywhere else outside the world to breathe new smells, talking with people from a culture different from mine, to discover the traditions of distant tribes, to observe landscapes full of colors, spot details special to capture and share my life with them. Here, at this moment I would be there and feel alive again. And these pictures have given me a feeling of freedom .. freedom that can give you just the journey, the excitement of arriving in a new place and know that everything you encounter on your path will be an incredible gift for your soul.

I nostri percorsi di vita dicono tanto di noi.

Quando ripensiamo al passato non possiamo fare a meno di pensare alle nostre varie fasi dell'esistenza. Io ripenso a quando ero una bambina e amavo la natura e tutti i giochi all'aria aperta. Ripenso alle varie marachelle che facevo per divertirmi e alle puntuali sgridate di mia madre.

Our life paths talk about us.

When I think about my past I remind the different stages of my existence. I back to the time when I was child and I loved nature and all the open air games. I think back about the rogueries that I did and the punctual scoldings of my mother.

Se penso a quando ero adolescente invece mi viene in mente il mio impegno nell' attività agonistica e tutte le ore passate in piscina ad allenarmi, i rumori ovattati che sentivo mentre nuotavo e quella striscia nera sul fondo da seguire di continuo, l'adrenalina da competizione, le vittorie e le sconfitte, l'emozione delle gare regionali e quella più grande delle gare nazionali. Mi vengono in mente i mille metodi per saltare le interrogazioni o non studiare per i compiti in classe; ripensandoci bene si sprecava più tempo ad imbrogliare che a studiare.

On the contrary, if I think about the time of my adolescence I remind my devotion to the agonistic activity and all the hours spent in the swimming pool for the coachings, the softened sound of the water when I was swimming and that black line on the floor that I had to follow ever, the rushes of adrenalin given by the competitions, the wins and the defeats, the emotion of the regional championships and the bigger emotion of the national ones. I think back about the thousands methods to skip the oral tests or not to study for the written ones and as an afterthought I waste more time cheating than studying.

Mi ricordo i temi di italiano che mi esaltavano, il mio amore per le lingue straniere, il mio odio per la matematica e la chimica, il mio abbigliamento vintage esagerato, le risate con gli amici, i colloqui con i professori sempre temutissimi e scanditi dalla puntuale domanda di mia mamma "C'è qualcosa che devo sapere prima di andare?", gli scioperi e la mattinata passata al bar, soffocarsi dal ridere durante la lezione, i commenti sui personaggi della scuola, le bidelle che mi permettevano di usare il loro bagno perché c'era uno specchio migliore, la spensieratezza.

I think about the Italian essays that I loved, my predilection for foreign languages, my total hate for mathematic and chemistry, my excessive vintage clothing, the fun with my friends, the dreaded meetings with the teachers, marked by the punctual answer by mother “Is there something that I have to know before the meeting?”, the strikes and the mornings spent around, kill us laughing during classes, our comments to weird character of the schools and me using the janitors’ bathroom because It had the best mirror ever.

Se penso all'università mi viene in mente lo studio senza sosta i giorni prima degli esami, l'esaltazione per i buoni voti, l'ansia di dare tutti gli esami in tempo, le migliaia di ore buche passate ai giardini davanti alla facoltà, le risate perenni, la mensa e le ragazze che ci andavano vestite come ad un matrimonio, la scoperta di una nuova città diversa dalla propria, le nuove amicizie, una maggiore indipendenza, le borse di studio tanto attese, le cretinate con gli amici, le uscite del fine settimana con i colleghi, la mia passione per la fotografia e per i viaggi, le delusioni e le gioie, le nuove esperienze in giro per il mondo, la voglia di vivere il futuro.

If I think back about università, I remind the study tirelessly the days before the exams, the celebration for good grades, the anxiety to give all the exams on time, the hole hours past spent in the university’s gardens , the best laughters, the girls who were dressed like a wedding to go to the canteen, the discovery of a new city, new friendships, a greater independence, the long-awaited scholarships, the nonsenses with friends, the weekends spent with my colleagues, my passion for photography and travel, the disappointments and the joys, the new experiences around the world, the desire to live the future.

E poi ci sono io ora, in una nuova città, alla ricerca del mio posto nel mondo, che cerco di conservare la spensieratezza e la vivacità attraverso le insidie della società moderna e tento di mantenere un equilibrio laddove non esiste. Per questo mi auguro di capire dove sto andando: spero di non perdere nulla di ciò che ho guadagnato lungo il mio cammino, che le mie fatiche siano riconosciute e mi aiutino a realizzarmi; spero di riuscire ad affrontare tutti gli imprevisti e difficoltà che la vita sempre ci propone, ma allo stesso tempo, di mantenere sempre vivo il mio ottimismo e la mia parte navigante sulle nuvole. Non posso credere di non sbagliare mai perché sarebbe impossibile, ma posso augurarmi di saper correggere i miei errori quando sbaglierò e di cambiare il mio giudizio se sarà necessario. Vorrei saper apprezzare tutto ciò che ho e non pensar a cos' altro vorrei avere, gioire delle piccole cose, sentirmi soddisfatta di me anziché sentirmi sempre nella mediocrità; spero di conservare sempre il mio lato generoso e quello ironico e di non perdere mai quella parte di me diversa e estraniata dal mondo che amo e odio a fasi alterne.

And then there's me now, in a new city, looking for my place in the world, trying to retain the lightheartedness and vibrancy through the pitfalls of modern society and trying to maintain a balance where none exists. For this reason, I hope to understand where I'm going: I hope not to lose anything of what I have gained along my path, I hope that my efforts are recognized and help me to fulfill myself, I hope to address all hazards and difficulties that life constantly suggests to us but at the same time, I hope to keep alive my optimism and my sailing on the clouds. I can’t believe it would be impossible to ever get it right, but I can wish me to know how to correct mistakes when they may be wrong and to change my opinion if need be. Exploring Tallinn

La piccola e fredda Estonia, entrata da poco nell’Eurozona, è un paese di cui si sa davvero poco. Spesso e volentieri si tende a considerare questo stato un territorio della Russia, scatenando le ire di quegli abitanti che ci tengono parecchio alla propria identità storica e culturale. Dal 1991 l’Estonia è un paese indipendente, in piena fase di crescita e con una gran voglia di mettersi in mostra. Inoltre, questo stato è la patria di Skype e punta le sue carte migliori proprio nel campo dell’informatica. I suoi abitanti amano il computer e la tecnologia e per questo motivo trovare una rete wireless gratuita è possibile praticamente ovunque. Per chi non lo sapesse da aprile 2011, l’Estonia è diventata magicamente più vicina; infatti, la capitale Tallinn si può raggiungere con il volo diretto Ryanair da Bergamo (Orio al Serio) e il volo dura circa tre ore. L’aeroporto si trova a quindici minuti dal centro e potete raggiungerlo col taxi o se volete risparmiare, con l’autobus numero 2 (la fermata si trova nei pressi del famoso Hotel Viru) al prezzo di una normale corsa urbana.Per quanto riguarda il fuso orario, l’Estonia è avanti di un’ora rispetto all’ Italia.

La capitale Tallinn è un vero e proprio gioiello storico e le sue antiche mura sono tra le meglio conservate in Europa. Passeggiare nelle vie del centro storico è come essere catapultati nel Medioevo grazie al perfetto stato di conservazione degli edifici e non solo; per tutto l’anno giovani estoni in abiti storici (anche nei momenti più freddi dell’inverno) v’inviteranno a entrare nei locali a tema per i quali lavorano decantandone le doti o proponendovi assaggi di cibi tipici. Tra i ristoranti più suggestivi troviamo l’Olde Hansa e il Peppersack (proprio dietro la Piazza principale del centro storico, ovvero la Piazza del Municipio) in cui potrete godere degli antichi sapori estoni in un ambiente storico affascinante: luci soffuse, mobilio antico, candele e camerieri in costumi d’epoca. Tra i cibi tipici troviamo il pane di segale, le zuppe di carne o pesce, le patate, il maiale arrosto e le salsicce, nonché vari intrugli ricavati dai latticini (impossibile sapere quale sia la traduzione di certi cibi). Per chi vuole risparmiare sui pasti, c’è un’ampia scelta; la città è ricca di fast-food, pizzerie (come il famoso ristorante economico “Vapiano”) e il self-service “Lido” situato all’interno del centro commerciale Solaris. Qua a pochi euro potrete consumare un ottimo pasto completo. Non preoccupatevi se vedete gli estoni mangiare a orari improbabili perché loro non sono tradizionalisti come noi e mangiano solo quando hanno fame, senza rispettare il nostro rito del pranzo tutti assieme alla stessa ora. Se volete scaldarvi non vi resta che bere un liquore tipico come il Vana Tallinn o se preferite la birra, potete scegliere tra la Saku e Le Coq.

I locali per divertirsi non mancano e sono localizzati quasi tutti nel centro storico, come la Beer House, il Molly’s Malone, il Nimeta (frequentato sopratutto da studenti) e tanti altri. Tra le discoteche più quotate troviamo la centrale Hollywood, il Caffè Amigo e la Cat’s House (entrambi all’interno dell’Hotel Viru) o il Club Privè. Se invece preferite le atmosfere rock, potete godervi i concerti del Rock Caffé, mentre per gli amanti del jazz e della musica dal vivo dal sapore anni ’50 c’è il pub/ristorante Chicago. Non mancano nemmeno le atmosfere che ricordano gli antichi tempi sovietici e se volete riviverle, non vi resta che entrare al Valley Bar. Per un tè pomeridiano e un dolcetto tipico (ottimi sono i dolci al marzapane) potete scegliere tra i vari Caffé della catena Reval (antico nome della città) disseminati per la città. A Tallinn non mancano i cinema e i teatri e inoltre gli estoni sono dei grandi appassionati d’arte, quindi potrete visitare mostre di ogni tipo o assistere a concerti di musica internazionale. Se invece cercate il relax, c’è un’ampia scelta di spa in cui potrete fare una salutare sauna Per quanto riguarda i luoghi da non perdere, consiglio l’intera Old Town con i suoi palazzi, chiese, mura e i vari belvedere, la cattedrale ortodossa Alexander Nevsky e il periferico parco di Kadriorg (in fondo alla quale vi è il bellissimo museo d’arte moderna Kumu). Non fatevi spaventare dalle temperature rigide e dall’ apparente freddezza degli abitanti; gli estoni, seppur timidi e introversi, sono persone gentili e molte curiose nei confronti degli stranieri e dopo un iniziale momento di imbarazzo non vedranno l’ora di conoscere tutto su di voi. Non vi resta che fare il biglietto e scoprire questo piccolo paese affacciato sul Mar Baltico (e da cui potrete raggiungere Helsinki in pochissimo tempo grazie alla nave diretta).

Eccomi qua! Ieri sono andata ad un mercatino fantastico organizzato nel Bed and Breakfast Valdirose in quel di Lastra a Signa (vicino a Firenze). Ringrazio la mia amica Sara -salutate tutti Sara: "Ciao Sara!!"- che mi ha invitato in questo bel posto! Se volete saperne in più sul luogo e sulle autrici delle opere qua sotto andate qua. Here I am! Yesterday I went to a fantastic open air market organized in the Bed and Breakfast Valdirose in Lastra a Signa (near Firenze).
