Is the sugar in the stool? I would think that all sugar consumed would be taken into the blood and used for energy or stored in the liver hence leaving none in the stool. If the candida is fed by sugar in the blood then i think that would mean that carbohydrates of any kind whether it be from a lollie or whole grain bread would feed candida. Read more...

<!--[if gte mso 9]><xml> The fungus settles in one spot on the skin, and after the infection starts, a red dot may be seen but is often missed because it is quite small. This dot slowly enlarges as the fungus spreads away from its central base. After a few days, the centre of the red patch becomes pale again and similar to normal skin, because the infection is no longer active at this point. Meanwhile the infection continues to spread and forms an Read more...

Ayurtox for Body Detoxification

candida tomato??

Q : Is it ok to eat tomato when fighting candida?? Also what part of the digestive system is it most likely to live??

When candida eats it produces alcohol....but when it is dying does it produce alcohol then also??

Thanks

Many candida diets do allow for tomatoes to be eaten. Keep in mind, however, that tomato paste can be somewhat sweet and that ketchup is sugar-laden. Candida typically begins in the lower portion of the digestive tract, the large intestine. It can grow up into the small intestine and further up the digestive tract if there is an overgrowth. Read more...

Diet, Exercise Better Than Vitamins in Promoting Health

Harvard men's health watch is telling everyone how dangerous vitamin supplements are. Unfortunately they are not kidding!

Please know that although we have our references to try to refute these statements, your patient's families will be hearing this stuff.

While it was once hoped that supplements of folic acid could help reduce colon cancer, new research has shown that taking more than the minimum daily requirement would be harmful. Simon says other studies underscore the downside to dietary supplements, which are unregulated in the United States. "The most striking example is beta carotene, which we used to be very hopeful about, but actually increases the risk of lung cancer in smokers. Vitamin E increases the risk of second head-neck cancers in people who have been successfully treated for a first malignancy."

The truth is that the folic acid most get in supplements is not the natural form that is called 5'MTHFR (Metafolin by Merck of Germany) and since it is over $12,000 a Kilogram it is not in most supplements. Read more...

Ready for Raw Foods?

Q: I've been considering a raw foods diet. Can you discuss the pros and cons? -- Meredith

A: The raw foods diet is exactly what it appears to be - a diet in which you eat only foods that can be consumed raw or after minimal heating. On the plus side is the fact that it provides plenty of fruits, vegetables, seeds and nuts, all of which should be part of any healthy diet. You also get plenty of fiber and no processed food. And, because you don't eat animal foods - meat, fish, or poultry - you avoid the contaminants they may contain. Another advantage: there's little danger that you'll consume too much protein or fat or the wrong kind of fat.
However, I'm not a proponent of the raw foods diet. First of all, when you eat everything raw, you lose much of the best flavor, texture and appearance of food. More importantly, however, is the fact that many of the vitamins and minerals found in vegetables are less bioavailable when you eat these foods raw than when they're cooked. For example, you can get lycopene, the carotenoid pigment that protects against prostate cancer, only from cooked tomatoes, not from raw ones. The carotenoids in carrots are more bioavailable from cooked carrots than they are from raw ones. Read more...

Colon Cleansing - Prevention is Better Than Cure

Sometimes it helps to have your colon cleansed on a regular basis.
As a personal trainer, I like to keep the out side of my body in shape, as well as the inside.
I personally have my colon cleansed every 6 - 8 weeks.

Another option is Oxygen Based Cleansers.
Oxygen-based colon cleansers are arguably the only way to properly melt away that compacted matter is through an oxidation reduction reaction. They typically use specialized ozonated magnesium oxides to reduce the solid toxic mass into a liquid or gas form. It works in the whole system, not just the large intestine as the other forms of constipation treatments. It cleans the entire intestinal tract and delivers much needed oxygen along the way--all without the side effects of laxatives and discomfort of enemas and hydrotherapy. Read more...

Health Tip: Help Prevent Yeast Infections

While yeast infections usually can be treated easily with medication, there are steps you can take to prevent them altogether. Read more

How to Treat Yeast Infections Naturally

Infection of the vaginal tract (vaginitis) is one of the most common reasons for women seeking medical attention. There are many types of vaginal infections, but one of the most common is the yeast infection, Candida albicans, which is demonstrated by a thick, curdy white, itchy discharge and reddened, raw vaginal tissue. When the ecology of the vagina is disturbed, the beneficial bacteria in the vagina are destroyed, and Candida is allowed to proliferate, leading to a yeast infection. Therefore, if you are a woman and you have a yeast infection, you must always ask yourself what may have caused this imbalance. <a The condition is known as "cradle cap" in infants.
Here are suggestions from the U.S. National Library of Medicine on how to help clear up cradle cap:

Use a brush with very soft bristles or your fingers to gently rub your baby's scalp each day. This will boost circulation and help scaly patches of skin fall off.

Make sure you wash the scalp thoroughly to remove all soap.

Wash baby's head each day with a gentle soap until cradle cap subsides. Then shampoo about twice weekly.

Before shampooing, rub a bit of mineral oil into baby's scalp and cover it with a moist, warm washcloth to encourage scaly patches to fall off. Leave it on for up to an hour, making sure the cloth stays warm.

If cradle cap doesn't improve or baby continues to react to scalp itchiness, see your pediatrician about a topical lotion or cream.

Onychomycosis treatment??

What is the name of that medication for onychomycosis that Dr. Gordon referred to on the posting of May 5, 2006? (See copy of that section below). My husband has been diagnosed by a dermatologist (who did a scraping) as having a fungal infection of both feet, both palms, and most toenails and fingernails (which are quite dystrophic). He wants him to take Lamisil daily for 3 months. Was the medication you were referring to Lamisil or another one, and, if so, what?
