At Drink The Bottles, we are more than just a site to find the best drinks in the world. We also celebrate the complete lifestyle brand and products that are complimentary to your wines and spirits. When we find such an amazing product, we have to taste it, experiment with it, and of course - share it with you!

For some, it might be difficult to get too excited about tonic water. Most drink enthusiasts concentrate on the spirit, but give little thought to the accoutrement that brings everything into a nice, delicious little package. Dappled Authentic Craft Tonic Water is so delicious that it doesn't (dare we say it?) even need a spirit to guide it. These flavors are so welcoming that they can be enjoyed by themselves and each one has unique and refreshing flavors.

After tasting all three varieties - Floral, Citrus and Aromatic - we thought it best if we tasted one of these in a gin and tonic. But which to choose? All three offerings present flavors that would pair well. In fact, the Dappled Tonic Water team will tell you that their products are also great partners with vodka, tequila,brandy, rum, whiskey and sweet vermouth. Who knew?

The Dappled website has a ton of options for pairings for each expression, including non-alcoholic options.

For the Aromatic flavor, Dappled suggests garnish options of orange, fresh herbs, cinnamon stick, lemon or pear.

Citrus garnish suggestions include fresh herbs, edible flowers, black pepper and apple.

The Floral option likes to be paired with fresh berries, edible flowers, citrus and thyme.

So which did we choose? We created our Gin & Tonic with Vim & Petal Gin from Middle West Spirits and the Dappled Aromatic Tonic Water. Our garnish (did we fail here?) was a Tipsy Cherry.

Recipe:

Fill a rocks glass about 1/3 with crushed ice
Add 2 ounces of gin

This refreshing and classic cocktail was invented by British East India Company officers in the 19th-century, by combining medicinal quinine tonic with gin, sugar, and lime. The drink evolved from a medicinal prophylactic to the popular and iconic cocktail that we love today. Chicken Cock Whiskey has been around for about 170 years, celebrated as one of America's oldest brands with a storied history. When a company like this introduces a new product to their core portfolio, you really need to pay attention. This is the Chicken Cock Wheated Bourbon Whiskey, which replaces their Small Batch offering from their familiar and popular line. This is produced in a partnership with Bardstown Bourbon Company.

If you're not familiar with Chicken Cock, you've wanted to try something new or you just love Wheated Bourbon, then now is the time to take a leap of faith. The company barreled this is Level 4 charred American White Oak barrels for at least five years, resulting is something that is super approachable and really plaeasing to the palate. The mash bill is Corn (68%), Wheat (20%), and Malted Barley (12%). The absence of rye is noticeable immediately and throughout the tasting.

Bronze color in a bottle that is reminiscent of something from the 1800's, you're immediately met by a soft and welcoming sweetness with apricot, butterscotch candy, baking spices and a touch of minerality on the nose. The mouth is covered in the same baking spices, homemade biscuits, black forest cake and carmelized sugar. The lower proof offers a very easy and welcoming finish. This is beautifully crafted!

We love deliciously unusual collaborations and unique products. This collaboration is a marriage of Bourbon Whiskey and Armagnac from Raj Peter Bhakta. Why do you know that name? Bhakta revolutionized rye whiskey with the WhistlePig brand before discovering a literal treasure trove of Armagnac. The Armagnac lead to the popular BHAKTA Spirits brand, which eventually lead to this union that is now Hogsworth.

This non-distilling producer is expertly crafting really tasty and fun-to-drink bottles and this is the Hogsworth Blend #9 Bourbon Whiskey & Armagnac. This bottle has an average age of 9.3 years and is made up of the following impressively aged spirits:

2009 Bourbon (42%) - Aged 4 years, 9 months - Tennessee
2009 Bourbon (18%) - Aged 5 years, 4 months - Minnesota
2013 Armagnac (17%) - Aged 11 Years - France

The result? Burnt orange and butterscotch colors in the glass. Complex and fruity nose with sweet dried citrus fruits, honey roasted nuts, and vanilla. Old Hillside Harlem Hellfighters Whiskey

Old Hillside Bourbon Company might be one of our favorite new brands (to us) for 2026. In just six short years, this young company with huge ideas has carved a path not only for their brand, but to honor the legacy of incredible African American jockeys and war heroes. North Carolina natives and friends founded Old Hillside Bourbon Company and they haven't looked back. In fact, they're always looking to the future.

One thing that likely makes this company so successful in its early stages is the approach they have towards the business. Courtney Tucker, co-founder and COO, says, "This business is not about us. We're just playing a part. This is higher than us." And that is evident by every bottle that pays homage to what would have been a long-forgotten great American and their stories that need to be preserved. The company even created a limited release Straight Bourbon Whiskey for Hillside High School (hence the name, Old Hillside) and proceeds from the sale of that bottle benefitted the historic school.

The bottle we are tasting today is the Harlem Hellfighters Whiskey - Benjamin O. Davis Sr. Commemorative Bottle. There are actually three different bottles in the Harlem Hellfighters series so far, and each one has a story that honors a military hero. Benjamin Davis was born in 1877 and began his military service during the Spanish-American War. Serving over fifty years, he was promoted to Colonel in 1930 and assigned to the 369th Harlem Hellfighters. In 1940, he was promoted to Brigadier General, becoming the first African American general in the United States Army! Davis was a champion for racial equality and he paved the way for the future of Black military leaders.

The Harlem Hellfighters was an Afican American military unit in World War 1. Although they faced discrimination and racial segregation, they served with honor, pride and distinction on the front lines for 191 days. This unit served longer than any other regiment on the front lines in WW1. To taste this whiskey appropriately, we feel like you need to be at least remotely aware of the story behind the label.

Dark copper and chestnut color. This is a seven year blended whiskey consisting of 60% Kentucky Bourbon and 40% Indiana Rye with undisclosed mash bills. On the nose is a fruity and semi-sweet expression of honey, vanilla bean and dusty leather-bound book. This is incredibly smooth on the palate with ripe red fruits, molasses, toasted rye bread and baking spices. The finish feels pure and incredibly soft. This is absolutely gorgeous!

Sagamore Spirit 10-Year-Old Straight Rye Whiskey

Go ahead. Chase the usual suspects. Make yourself crazy trying to find the overhyped allocated bottles that are "show-off" toys for your shelves. And leave the bottles like this Sagamore Spirit 10-Year-Old Straight Rye Whiskey for us... all - day - long.

We've tasted dozens of rye whiskey offerings over the years, but seldom do we have the opportunity to taste one with a ten year age statement. This whiskey first hit the scene in the fall of 2025 in a very limited capacity. We missed out on that but were thrilled to snag the re-release of this bottle that is available nationwide. While it is still considered a limited bottling and part of the Reserve Series, you can find this online at Sagamore's website.

We're actually going to start with the packaging on this. It's gorgeous and frankly, captivating. This might be the heaviest whiskey bottle on the market and we've come to expect nothing less than top tier packaging from Sagamore. This is the oldest release from Sagamore to date and it is well worth both celebrating and it is worth your hard earned dollars!

Antique bronze and orange in the bottle and to the edge of the Glencairn. Tasted neat. Aromas of maple candy, orange marmalade, stone fruits, sugar cookie and fire-roasted pecan compete for dominance of the nose. Sweet and welcoming flavors of rye bread, thread of campfire smoke, sorghum, vanilla creme, red fruits and a dash of pepper make us a sweet and savory tasting profile. This is really scrumptious and provides you with a noticeable, but not too hot, hug at the not-so lingering finish.

The bottle states that this was distilled in Indiana so it's likely MGP distillate (we are HUGE fans) and this whiskey rested patiently for 10 years in new charred oak barrels before bottling by the Sagamore team. We honestly don't know how this could be improved much. Packaging? Check. Price? Check. Overall experience? It's a no brainer.

2023 Peju Winery Limited Release Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley

The history behind PEJU Winery is absolutely mesmerizing and one that you will never tire of hearing. It's a man with a dream, a vision and determination. Tony Peju moved his family from Los Angeles to Rutherford and began selling his young wines out of a garage. Throughout the years, a formal tasting room is added, additional vineyards, the iconic tower is built and the adult children join the winery full time. While Tony passed away in 2023, he leaves a legacy and his footprint on Napa Valley wine. Tony is often regarded as the father of Direct to Consumer (DTC) Wine Marketing.

The 2023 Peju Winery Limited Release Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley is another stunning example of organically farmed fruit from winemaker Sara Fowler. Fowler is celebrating her 20th vintage with PEJU this year and you can feel the love and terroir in every bottle.

Dark purple-black in color with swelling aromas of blackberry jam, blackcurrant, wisps of campfire smoke and cocoa powder. The palate also introduces those blackberry flavors, joined with damp bedrock, pencil shavings, flint and oak. This is a very juicy wine and focuses on the dark fruits on the finish with a hint of earth. It's exquisite. There's a pureness in this wine that resonates and this bottles really shows how lovely the 2023 vintage was overall. Could this improve in the next few years? We think so!

2020 Conn Creek Rutherford Napa Valley Cabneret Sauvignon

Bill and Kathy Collins were among the early pioneers of Napa Valley, determined to tell the world that Napa Valley was a fine wine growing region. Conn Creek Winery was born about fifty years ago, and they have consistently produced delicious and high quality Cabernet Sauvignon and Bordeaux-styled wines. Winemaker Jean Hoefliger's colorful past and experience helps him shape the future of the winery with expertise while paying homage to the famous Rutherford American Viticultural Area.

2020 was an exceptionally difficult year for Napa Valley and California wines. A domino effect of a global pandemic, two major wildfires, smoke taint and overall low yields left scars (literally and figuratively) in the most famous wine growing regions of the United States. Cabernet offerings plummetted by as much as 35% compared to the previous year and several producers simply did not release a 2020 vintage.

Luckily, the 2020 Conn Creek Rutherford Napa Valley Cabneret Sauvignon was spared the major ill effects of the wildfires and became a shining example of what really small, specific vineyards could produce despite the odds. This is a 100% Cabernet Sauvignon blended from varying batches. When you open and decant this, picture a box of chocolates that have been eaten, but you still smell the wonderful, sweet aromas accompanied by fresh fruit and damp earth. Medium red in color, the soft tannins are amplified by the flavors of plum, juicy blueberries, black cherry, barn wood and a hint of that famous Rutherford dust. The finish is short and pleasant and this wine is drinking at peak now and the next couple of years. Quite lovely!

With over 150 years of adventures under their care, this winery actually placed fourth in the "Judgement of Paris" international wine competition in 1976. We should start by stating that Spring Mountain Vineyard has one of the most extensive wine libraries not only in Saint Helena, but all of Napa Valley. They have several tasting experiences available including wines from the last three decades. This is a unique and once-in-a-lifetime experience for the oenophile who has "done it all".

The 2013 Spring Mountain Vineyard Elivette Napa Valley Red Wine features estate fruit and is comprised of Cabernet Sauvignon (57%), Cabernet Franc (17%), Merlot (10%), Petit Verdot (8%), and Malbec (8%). This was double decanted and it really opened up beautifully after about 40 minutes. Loads of dark fruits and cedar plank on the nose with a bright red color with hues of eggplant througout. On the palate is a medium to full bodied dark fruit pleaser with wisps of minerality and polished tannin that ends with dark chocolate and dried earth. For a wine of this age, it shows a ton of potential for at least another 10+ years if cellared properly.

To say we were excited to try the elusive Cabneret Sauvignon from Meteor Vineyard would be a serious understatement. We have heard about this small but mighty producer for many years, but to be quite frank, it's hard to find this wine! Barry and Tracy Schuler purchased the Coombville property in 1998, recognizing that the lush volcanic soil and elevation was absolutely perfect to grow 100% Cabernet Sauvignon. Of course, 100% Cab always has a big place in our hearts!

The 2019 Meteor Vineyard Preseid Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley is a big, bold, expressive wine and everything you want and need from a Napa Valley Cab. Juicy ripe blackberries, cassis and black plum on the nose against a gorgeous deep garnet color. Blackberry cobbler, graphite, mocha and vanilla on the palate with a pleasant and lingering oaky finish. This is wine is (insert bad word here) incredible! This will age easily for the next decade and beyond.

The 2022 Etude Carneros Chardonnay Grace Benoist Ranch celebrates forty years of Etude Wines. Since 1982, the winery has been producing lovely, approachable and memorasble wines. The Grace Benoist Ranch was developed in 2000 and inludes seven Chardonnay clones, which make up this wine.

Pale golden in the glass with rising apple crisp and honeycomb aromas up front. Wet stone, lemon zest and a creamy, full mouth feel create a tasting experience that is not only solid, but quite pleasant. There's almost an iced lemon loaf familiarity with this on the back end. This is a very solid bottle and one that could be enjoyed now or easily for 3-5 more years.

Hold on to your hats because we have a lot to unbox here! We received these bottles just a couple of days ago and we pushed them to the top of the list because we were so &$%#ing excited to taste them! Today we're going to discuss all things Silverthorn Reserve, including tasting and sharing our thoughts on these two bottles. But before we share that, we want to introduce you to the brand and the man behind the label!

If the name Drew Thorn resonates with you, it's because Drew was a driving force behind the immensely popular and wildly successful Sagamore Spirit brand for many years. Drew learned so much about the business, operations, transparency, quality and what customers want during his tenure at Sagamore. But how will that carry over into this new project?

DTB: What was the moment you knew you wanted to build Silverthorn Reserve after leaving Sagamore Spirit?

DT: I had conceived of Silverthorn Reserve many yearsago, but it had always been this obscure concept that I would some day start inretirement because I am incapable of ever retiring. I very much love Sagamore –they are great people making great whiskey and I am still very close with them. However, there did come a point where my obscure retirement business startedto become much more defined in my mind, and I got so excited about it that I didn’t want to wait until retirement to get started.

DTB: On your website, you describe this as "uniquely small" and focused on projects that do not make sense at scale. What does that mean and what does that allow you to do that you were not able to do in a larger business model?

DT: When you are a large model, your focus is scalable consistency. This is in direct conflict with the pursuit of excellence. Some brands can overcome this conflict (and I think Sagamore is a good example of that), but the conflict will always exist.

You also become dependent on distribution models that value quantity over quality.

Scale is also not achievable without outside financial interests – which are inclined to value quantity over quality. You become exposed to all these forces that challenge the pursuit of excellence.

I wanted to flip this on its head. Silverthorn Reserve is independently owned, it can take on projects in the pursuit of excellence knowing they would be completely unscalable even if they were well received. We self-distribute and are very selective about how many accounts we work with, so we can stay connected with our customers and quite nimble.

If I find 3 barrels that make an amazing blend – I am going to do it. A larger company wouldn’t be looking at 3 barrels in the first place, and if they happened to stumble across them by accident all they would do is blend them into a large batch to not mess with consistency.

DTB: What's in the name Silverthorn Reseve? How did you choose the name and what do you want to tell people from the brand name?

DT: Silverthorn Reserve is a family name. My wife’s family is the Silvermans and my family is the Thorns and together we are the Silverthorns. I hope for the brand to become known for timeless excellent whiskies, not trends or hype. I am a product person – I have been crafting alcoholic beverages for 30 years – so I am going to spend my money and time on products and not marketing. It remains to be seen how that will play out, but at the very least it is where I will find joy in this pursuit.

DTB: You emphasize complete transparencey and composition statements on every bottle. What details do you consider non-negotiable to disclose, and why?

DT: In our labeling we always share barrel origin state, mash bills, blend percentages, and barrel ages. I would share specific distilleries if I could, but that is generally considered an IP infringement, and while some suppliers are cool about it, others will send cease and desists trying to get you to pull your bottlesoff shelves. I do find that our customers are quite sophisticated though, and if they see a 2016 75/13/0/12 - KY on the label they have a good idea where that came from.

DTB: You've described yourself as essentially a one-man show. What part of the production process is done by you and your small team versus partner facilities?

DT: All parts of the production process are done by us – but made possible through two great partnerships. I have a barrel storage agreement with Sagamore Spirit which allows me to directly manage my barrels. They also give me access to their blending and processing equipment and help from their team as needed for blending projects where I am dumping barrels, blending those barrels and then

returning that blend back to those barrels for slow marrying back in the barns.

My DSP itself operates as an Alternating Proprietorship through a sub-lease agreement with OLD LINE SPIRITS in Baltimore. This is also where I blend, dump, bottle, warehouse finished goods, and ship from. Their amazing team will assist me as needed for dumping, bottling, and receiving materials. So, I guess the short answer is no part of the processes is outsourced to a third party, but my model of being hands-on for every step is only possible through the amazing partnerships I have with Sagamore and Old Line – because you can’t do it all alone.

DTB: When people hear "sourcing" or "non-distilling producer (NDP)" they (the uneducated types) assume this means "simple" or "lazy". What do you say to that?

DT: I can see why that might be the perception – though I think some of the excellent NDPs that have emerged have made progress changing that perception. With that said I am sure there are cases where that perception is true – if for example you source one mashbill from a very consistent supplier and send it to a third-party bottler to package it in large enough batches that the law of averages delivers a consistent product, then it is relatively simple. However, with that said, doing your own distillation is not what makes a whiskey company complex. If you are in the industry or have run distilleries before, you know that running a still is one of the simplest parts of the process. In my experience sensory and blending are much more complex. Thinking an NDP is simple is kind of like thinking being a chef is simple if you don’t also grow all your ingredients.

DTB: We are going to taste a single barrel bourbon today and a blended port finish rye. How do you decide when a whiskey should stay a true single barrel versus becoming part of a blend?

DT: This is more subjective, as in I don’t have a defined framework. To be a single barrel I look for solid overall structure as well as something memorable and delicious. I have to really like drinking it on its own, and also not need it for a specific role in a blend.

We're are starting off BIG here with the Silverthorn Single Barrel Bourbon. This has an eye-opening 13-year age statement. The bottle we are tasting is #59 from batch 12A18 (sold out). The current batch 12B15 is available on their website. The non-chill filtered bourbon features a mash bill of Corn (80%), Rye (10%), Wheat (5%) and Malted Barley (5%). The nose reminds you of walking into an antique bookshop that has leatherbound classics and a sweet aroma of baked pastries and coffee brewing. This immediately wakes the senses in anticipation what is next. Very nice viscosity in the glass and in the mouth. Sweet and savory up front with homemade maple candy and caramel ribbon. A mixture of ripe fruits such as blackcurrants and plum are joined with mild spices. Layers of flavor develop, leading to the leather re-appearing next to cherry pipe tobacco for a lasting and satisfying finish.

Currently, Silverthorn Reserve has three releases and we are honored to taste two of them. Of the three expressions currently available, they range from 10 to 13 year age statements. It seems that Drew Thorn knows and appreciates a sweet spot, and he has found it in his Port Finish Rye Whiskey. This 10-year old selection is a blend of two mash bills:

57%: 10 Year Old Straight Rye - Rye (95%), Malted Barley (5%)
43%: 10 Year Old Straight Rye - Corn (44%), Rye (51%), Malted Barley (5%)

This is a non-chill filtered bottle that was finished in 10-year-old Tawny Port barrels. You don't have to be Tawny Port fans like us to appreciate the delciousness in this bottle. Great gingerbread color with orange blossom, island fruits, sandalwood and cinnamon stick on the nose. Lovely sweet backbone with Fig Newton cookie, caramel syrup and grandma's spice cabinet that coats the tongue. Sweet pepper bite at the end, but in check and not over powering. This is a really fun and intriguing bottle that is batch 1 for Silverthorn.

Bardstown, Kentucky-based Lux Row Distillers is introducing Lux Row Estate Bourbon – a 5-year-old Kentucky straight bourbon whiskey made with #2 yellow corn that was grown onsite at Lux Row. Offered at 107 proof (53.5% ABV), Lux Row Estate Bourbon is now available exclusively at Lux Row Distillers at a minimum suggested retail price of $99.99 per 750mL bottle.

The idea for a homegrown bourbon came from Lux Row Distillers Master Distiller John Rempe, who worked with his team to identify and plant the perfect variant of corn in an 11-acre field where rickhouses 6, 7, 8 and 9 now stand. After harvest, Rempe carefully crafted the Estate recipe using a mash bill of 78% homegrown corn, 12% malted barley and 10% rye.

“Estate has been a true labor of love – from field to bottle – and the result exceeds all my expectations,” said Rempe. “Before the rickhouses were built, I remember looking out across the land we were farming for hay and thinking we could put these fields to use to do something really special – and we did. Forthwest Whisky

The Pacific Northwest is one of the most highly producing agriculture regions in the United States. The cool evening climate from the Pacific ocean along with the unique multi-layered terroir creates a farmer's dream. Back in 1934, however, locals noticed that there was an over abundance of pears and apples from the area that were going to waste, and they decided to take matters into their own hands.

Hood River Distillers has been a staple in Oregon for over 90 years, first creating fruit wines and brandies, and eventually branching out into bourbon, whiskey, tequila, gin, vodka and more. The company distributes across the US and produces nearly 1,000,000 cases annually. The Forthwest Whisky label currently offers four distinct expressions and three of those are flavored. The bottle we are tasting today is Forthwest Whisky, an 80 proof blended Canadian whisky.

First of all, lets talk about the packaging and specifically the bottle. The old-fashioned style of blue-green glass and shape of the bottle are two things you can't dismiss. Packaging is always important. We will preach this from our soapbox until we have written about the last bottle. Packaging, packaging, packaging! Get it?

Medium golden brown color in the glass. You are immediatley greeted with sweet aromas of toffee, vanilla and molasses. On the palate is an extremely welcoming and mild spirit with flavors of maple syrup, vanilla, brown sugar and hints of red berries. The finish is short but memorable and if you're looking for a solid Canadian whisky, you won't find a better value. This is a 5 year age stated whisky and it is a 700mL bottle. Very nice!

If you haven't heard of Shortbarrel Bourbon yet, you're either living under a rock or it isn't currently distributed where you live. We first tasted one of their Bees Knees bottles from a friend who bought it on a trip to Kentucky, and that first sip made us sit up and take notice. While it isn't available in our state (yet), we've been lucky enough to find their bottles while on trips and we always look for new releases.

Three friends - Patrick Lemmond, Clinton Dugan, and Adam Dorfman - had a dream like so many whiskey enthusiasts do. But they turned their vision into a reality and they are the founders of Shortbarrel, one of the most exciting, consistent and fast-growing brands in the past couple of years. No detail is overlooked from the quality of the blending and/or distilling and down to the eye-catching packaging.

While the company operates a distillery in the Atlanta, Georgia suburb of Norcross, their flagship Shortbarrel Four Grain Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey is actually sourced from Kentucky distilleries Wilderness Trail and Green River. The whiskey also sees some secondary aging at the former Old Fourth Distillery, which the Shortbarrel team purchased in 2023.

This 4-year-aged whiskey is non-chill filtered and the mash bill recipe is Corn (65%), Wheat (20%), Malted Barley (12%) and Rye (3%). Gingerbread color in the bottle and glass, one might mistake this (blindly) as a wheated bourbon. It's incredibly soft and welcoming from first sip to the finish with aromas that include warm buttered bread, chocolate bits, molasses and island fruits. The tasting experience includes vanilla custard, toasty oak, sweet corn and mild grilling spices wrapped up in a neat and delicious package. We can't stress enough how velvety-smooth this bourbon is and this could definitely be your new everyday drinker. Tasted neat in a Glencairn.

Coxs Creek Distlling Company is a non-distilling producer that is without a doubt leading the way for distinctive expressions of whiskeys.

Good Old Times Japanese Cherry Tree Cask Finish checks off some great boxes before you even taste it. It's a single barrel release, barrel strength proof point and has a super-impressive 10-year age statement! The packaging is quentissential Good Times Bourbon and this release is tough to find, at least for the suggested retail price.

Mahogany in color with classic bourbon notes of vanilla, toasty oak, and tons of vanilla predominantly, but some airtime gives us some floral notes with orange marmelade. On the palate, a subtly sweet assortment of flavors that include ripe strawberries, cherry, vanilla custard, and caramel candy. This tasting experience is very mellow but leaves you with a gripping hug and an immediate desire to re-visit this bourbon. Tasted neat in a Glencairn. This would be fun in some experimental cocktails, but truthfully, it's incredibly tasty on its own merit!

Bardstown, Ky. — (February 26, 2026) Heaven Hill Distillery announces the release of Heaven Hill Deatsville 13-Year-Old Bourbon Whiskey, a limited-edition expression drawn from one of the most distinctive aging sites in the distillery’s 90-year history. Bottled from just 17 barrels aged on the third floor of Rickhouse AA, this release represents one of the final few opportunities to experience Bourbon fully matured entirely at the Deatsville campus before the site transitions out of active aging.

The Deatsville campus, originally home to the shuttered T.W. Samuels Distillery, has been an enduring part of Heaven Hill’s heritage since the early 1980s, when the company first assumed stewardship of the rickhouses. Today, the site encompasses nine Heaven Hill owned rickhouses with capacity for aging a total of 167,000 barrels. It is the only Heaven Hill barrel aging campus constructed with tiered roof architecture, a distinctive design that promotes a natural stack effect, allowing warm air to rise and escape while drawing cooler air inward through lower openings. This airflow dynamic creates subtle differences in maturation, contributing to Deatsville’s signature influence within Heaven Hill’s aging inventory. Heaven Hill ages whiskey across six distinct warehouse sites in Kentucky, each imparting its own character based on structure, airflow, and environment.

Crafted from a traditional mashbill of 78% corn, 10% rye, and 12% malted barley, Heaven Hill Deatsville 13-Year-Old Bourbon Whiskey reflects thirteen years of maturation within this unique structure. The MSRP for this limited release will be $199.99.

“For nearly a century, Heaven Hill has believed that great Bourbon is made by giving barrels the time, space and natural airflow they need to become themselves,” said Susan Wahl, Vice President, American Whiskey. “This release pays tribute to the barrels, brands, and people who brought those rickhouses to life.”

Over the decades, Deatsville barrels contributed to multiple Heaven Hill expressions and played a meaningful role in a large portion of the Parker’s Heritage Collection lineage. The acclaimed 7th Edition ‘Promise of Hope’ and the widely celebrated 11th Edition Single Barrel release both drew from Parker Beam’s favorite rickhouse site. As part of Heaven Hill’s long-term stewardship of its aging assets, all nine Deatsville rickhouses will transition to regauge-only status over the next 12–24 months, marking the gradual aging out of the campus from active maturation. The buildings will remain standing and secure. Heaven Hill continues to invest in new rickhouses across the Commonwealth which will impart their own unique characteristics to our aging barrels. Most barrels currently aging at Deatsville will be relocated to other Heaven Hill sites and may be referenced in future releases as having spent a portion of their maturation at Deatsville. This 13-Year-Old release is the first chapter in a multi-year tribute to the Deatsville site, with additional releases and commemorative moments planned through 2027.

In a rare opportunity, guests will be able to access the private Deatsville rickhouse campus through a Deatsville Tour & Tasting experience. The tour includes visits to two rickhouse sites, allowing guests to see firsthand how structural differences—including Deatsville’s tiered roof design—impact maturation and flavor development. (February 24, 2026) – Jack Daniel’s Master Distiller Chris Fletcher was named Master Distiller/Master Blender of the Year at Whisky Magazine’s 2026 Icons of Whisky and World Whiskies Awards America, held February 12 in Louisville, Ky. Jack Daniel’s 14-Year-Old Tennessee Whiskey Batch 1, which Fletcher crafted in his role overseeing production and innovation at the Jack Daniel Distillery, was also awarded World’s Best Tennessee Whiskey at the ceremony.

The annual awards celebrate the people and places responsible for exceptional whiskey-makingin the U.S., alongside the best in American whiskeys. Winners of World Whiskies Awards Americas will go on to compete next month against global competitors at the World Whiskies Awards.

In his role as Vice President, Master Distiller and Director of Distillery Operations at the Jack Daniel Distillery, Chris Fletcher is responsible for strengthening the brand through product innovation while honoring the time-tested processes that have guided the Jack Daniel Distillery for nearly 160 years. Fletcher, a native of Lynchburg, Tenn. who grew up learning about production from his grandfather and late Master Distiller Frank Bobo, is one of only a handful of individuals to have held the title of “Master Distiller” in the distillery’s history. In his five years as Master Distiller, Fletcher has been the driving force behind award-winning, premium releases including the Bonded Series, the Aged Series, widely-celebrated expressions from the Special Release Series, and the Distillery Series line of experimental whiskeys.

Jack Daniel’s 14-Year-Old Batch 1 was released in February 2025 as part of the fourth annual release of the Aged Series, marking the first time since the early- to mid-1900s that Jack Daniel’s had offered an expression at this age. The expression, offered at 126.3 proof (63.15% abv), begins with Jack Daniel’s classic Tennessee Whiskey mash bill that is then mellowed drop by drop through 10 feet of sugar maple charcoal. The additional years of aging bring forward notes of sweet bakery spices with layers of oak and a palate of creamy butterscotch, rich leather and tobacco.

The 2021 Clif Family Winery Kit's Killer Cab is 100% Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon is a delicious and welcome bottle from a vintage that, quite frankly, the valley needed! The 2020 vintage saw severe devastation from wildfires and 2021 was quite literally, for the most part, a gift from the heavens. Gorgeous, dark violet in the glass with lifting aromas of ripe blueberry, blackberry preserves, and chocolate covered espresso beans. Swirling introduces additional aromas of barn wood and soy sauce.

Flavors are layered and bring forward dark, rich red fruits, tobacco leaf, ripe plum and a finish that hints of damp earth. Is at least FIVE years old and has a Mash bill of 75% corn, 15% soft red winter wheat, 10% malted barley. Pale chestnut in color with fresh caramel corn on the nose with vanilla bean and toasted ciabatta bread. This bourbon immediately coats the mouth and feels luscious throughout the tasting experience. With flavors of Homemade caramel candy, roasted sweet corn and island fruits intermingle to bring a solid and memorable marriage of flavors. Red fruits find their way in here and they are the precursor to and a controlled, spicy finish.

Whiskey Acres Bottled in Bond Rye Whiskey

Is like no other Rye whiskey we have tasted in the past year or so. It’s aged is at least FOUR years old, and the mash bill is 75% rye and 25% corn. Similar in color to its cousin, the Bottled in Bond Bourbon, but a much has a much sweeter nose and it’s nearly a butterscotch bomb! We’ve only ever noticed this much butterscotch on one whiskey in our life, and that was a double oaked bourbon. This was a HUGE surprise for us. Brown sugar, creamy nougat, vanilla pudding on the palate. This one is and it is incredibly smooth and it ends with cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice and just a whisper of fennel seeds. If you’re looking for peppery rye, this isn’t it. But this bottle is absolutely stunning and unique in its own way.

Guinigi Prosecco Treviso and Prosecco Rosé

Prosecco isn't Champagne's little cousin any longer. Wineries in Northern Italy take Prosecco very seriously and it has become increasingly popular worldwide over the past decade. Today we are looking at two fabulous examples of Prosecco from Guinigi Wines.

The Prosecco D.O.C. Treviso is pale golden with micro bubbles and aromas of spring boquet, citrus fruits and sweet peach mid palate. The finish has an extremely unique star anise flavor that was unexpected but very welcoming.

The Guinigi Prosecco Rosé D.O.C. is less sweet than the previously mentioned wine, but is more aromatic and is more fruit forward on both the nose and the palate. It is beautifully balanced with ripe peach, spring flowers and oodles of strawberries througout the tasting. Each sip feels like a brand new wine and is very welcoming against tons of tiny and consistent bubbles. This beauty is created from a blend of Glera and Pinot Noir grapes.

Both of these wines are considered extreme bargains because of the quality and very attractive pricepoint of $17 each. After the tasting, we paired this with a salty pasta dish as well as some crispy bacon and the marriage was spot on! We can't say enough about these wines and if you're a fan of Prosecco, you really need to try these out. Both wines are available through Gehricke Wines of Sonoma, California.
