Whatever you think you know about foreign cultures I'm going to bet there are only a handful of people in the world (at least seven: five athletes, a coach and photographer - and maybe the guy that waxed the floor) that can adequately explain this photo.

P.S. I'm particularly disturbed that one of the girls has a broken arm - is that related to the giant pastry or simply coincidence?

As an iTouch owner I'm confused what exactly the iPad is supposed to be. No flash, no multi-tasking, no USB port or useful port at all, apps centric, a weak processor, and who wants to hold that thing while watching a movie? It's terrible. The only good from it's release is this comedic review from Hitler.

Google is infiltrating the entire market. Very soon an Operating System and a mobile phone, but most recently an internet browser. I've been using Google Chrome for a while now without complaint. If you haven't heard of it here's a creative low-tech video.

Using sand Keseniya Simonova tells stories. The medium works well because it forces the audience to sit in silence (aside from some well chosen accompanying music) and focus mesmerized on her hands.

The first video, which won her the Ukraine's Got Talent competition, depicts how the Ukraine was affected by WWII - where approximately a quarter of her population died (approximately 8-10 million people). Even on video the emotion of the audience is palpable.

Unable to switch to a different camera angle or shift scenes with a simple editing room cut, Simonova impresses me with her ability at minimally altering her images to progress the storyline. Which is powerfully demonstrated with the 'birth --> ageing' sequence at the beginning of this next video.

A brilliant website, The American Mustache Institute, was referenced by Stephen Colbert on his October 26th show.

The AMI will be announcing the winner of the Robert Goulet 'Mustached American of the Year' award on Friday, I'm taking a mental health day so that I can watch the announcement live. Until then I'll be reading about the plight of mustached men, which is briefly detailed in the 'history' page.

Upon learning that Fidel Castro's communist Cuba was growing and exporting mustaches at an alarming rate into the U.S., Latin America and other Latin-speaking countries in an attempt to fund its missile program, the Kennedy administration...[u]nder auspices of fighting communism...attempt[ed] to slow the Cuban-American mustache trade [with] the Bay of Pigs Invasion.

Yes, you read that mustaches were used to fund a missile program.

There were further obstacles to mustached men. In 1965 the National Voting Rights Act was passed (which "outlawed discriminatory voting practices that had been responsible for the widespread disenfranchisement of black Americans"), but was it worth it? A sinister 'rider' was also attached to that bill - "the Federal Mustache Tax Amendment (FMTA), which levied a 3 percent annual income tax against men with mustaches, and if a man's spouse had a mustache, an additional 2 percent levy."

It's all true. It has to be. Otherwise why would Dr. Schnurrbart Snor (who received the first mustacheology certification from the Newark City College) found the AMI. To fight the Beard Congress of course! They were the lobby group behind the FMTA, and avowed enemies of mustaches.
