Really enjoyed painting this one. Its quite impressionistic; I didn’t get too detailed so it leaves a bit for the viewers imagination.

I particularly like the strong dark areas that bring out the reds.

Its 16 x 12 inches on stretched canvas and can be hung as is.

Apple Juice

New oil painting entitled “Apple Juice” on 16 x 12 inch stretched canvas with sides painted.

Can be hung as-is or framed in a floater frame for good effect.

The glass was fun to paint but care had to be taken not to over-do it. Its more a case of what you leave out rather than what you put in.

The shadow part of the apple was tricky to get the colour right and was eventually made using a combination of yellow ochre, sap green, light green, ultramarine blue and burnt sienna.

Evening Field

A landscape oil painting for a change – entitled Evening Field.

I had to use a different palette than normal for this one, introducing sap green, cerulean blue and Indian Yellow into the usual, Ultramarine, Burnt Sienna, Alizarin and Lemon Yellow.

This one is on a 12 x 16 inch canvas stretched over a wooden frame with the sides painted so it can be hung as is, or a suitable floater frame added if required.

Late Night Shopping

This oil painting is on a 50 x 40 cm box canvas with the sides painted.

This is my attempt at an “impressionist” painting which is something I dont usually do.

I used plenty of medium to get the paint flowing and needed plenty of discipline to keep the brush stokes loose and to not add too much detail.

Tricky but well worth the effort.

RNLI Rescue

This is a recent commission I did just before the Christmas hols.

I used a limited palette consisting of : Titanium White, cadmium yellow pale, cadmium orange, alizarin crimson, burnt sienna, ultramarine blue.
