It’s not really very different to back when I had a job.I cook, I do the washing up, I keep tabs on groceries, I pay the bills, I make important business phone calls, I organise the paperwork, I research matters on the internet. The difference now is that I don’t have a job to work around so I’ve hot more time to do it. Pretty easy really.

The one thing I am struggling with is the cleaning. That used to be a lark. I’d go to work every second Tuesday like normal and when I got home the cleaners had come and it was all done. Now it’s not so simple. The cleaners have just turned up and I have had to move out of the lounge room. I actually had to move by myself and my computer out onto the veranda and now I can’t go back inside until the floors dry. Would you believe that there is sunlight out here? It’s not direct, of course, but this is a serious concession to make and I’m not sure if I’m happy about it.

At least the wireless internet works out here. I might do some research into how much value I’m adding to the household.

http://www.drnumbers.net/blog_display.asp?BID=997

The Diary of a House Husband

I am thoroughly enjoying my first full day as a house husband. I had half a day yesterday after I left work for the last time and I spent most of that drinking beer in my underwear on the front veranda. Today I'm into it full swing and so far my duties have included escorting my wife to her Christmas Party, dropping her off at the shops so she can avoid the Christmas traffic, firing off the dishwasher, researching important matters on the internet and cleaning up after last night's seafood eating and Veuve Clicquot swilling celebration of the 19th.

I have decided to take this seriously so I am actually going to clean up properly before I head off to Matt's 30th birthday celebrations in Gatton this afternoon. I'm pretty sure that socialising with my friends is a very important House Husbandly duty so the party needs to be my first priority.

http://www.drnumbers.net/blog_display.asp?BID=996

Uninspired

Reading Daniel's blog has uninspired me to post here more often.

http://www.drnumbers.net/blog_display.asp?BID=995

Real men go to the barber

This morning I had my hair cut at the barber. The very same barber I used to go to from 1997 – 1999. Despite not haven’t seen me in the interim he not only remembered me but took great delight in reminding me of some past glories which I had long since forgotten. In 1998, for example, I used to have a multi-coloured Mohawk. Not only that but I used to be a ‘radical student politician’ who wanted to be a parliamentarian speech writer.

He asked me what I wanted done to my hair and I decided to go for ‘beautiful but respectable’.

‘A ha,’ he exclaimed with glee! ‘I told you you’d go respectable one day and you didn’t believe me. I told you you’d turn conservative and look at you now!’

And what does my fortune telling barber have to say about my future?

‘Psychology, you’ll be enrolled in psychology next.’

http://www.drnumbers.net/blog_display.asp?BID=994

Not so domestic

I had grand plans of posting something showing off my domesticity but instead I find it of paramount importance that you help me determine the following. Assuming you have a choice, would you rather be killed by a ninja, a rabid dog, a dwarf or a hit man? Vote now in the polls.

And I don’t mean one of those pansy belly dancing dwarves. I mean a dwarf with an axe who swills beer from a tankard.

Also this is a shout-out to anyone who is feeling guilty because they punched someone else for no good reason today.

http://www.drnumbers.net/blog_display.asp?BID=993

And we all live here

And we all live here...
