Hyphen takes inspiration from precision-based classics like Kuru Kuru Kururin and Irritating Stick

It’s all about navigating tricky spaces and avoiding everything in your path. It’s for people who actually enjoy a serious challenge, because things can get tense, frustrating, and downright infuriating when a level refuses to cooperate.

The Hyphen mobile version is a premium game up for grabs for £3.99. The controls have also been adapted for phones and tablets, with fully analogue touchscreen joystick controls. Controller support is available, too.

The game comes with all 36 handcrafted campaign levels, two unlockable minigames, and an original 11-track soundtrack composed by Andrew Lloyd. And if you still want more levels, there’s also the Community Levels feature. PC players can build their own levels using the desktop Level Editor, mess around with custom objects and custom audio, and then publish their creations through Steam Workshop.

Those community-made challenges are shared across platforms, meaning mobile players on iPhone, iPad, and Android can discover and play levels created by the PC community, too. But creating levels and publishing them through Steam Workshop are still exclusive to the PC edition.

Like the first Planet of Lana, you’ll find exploration, environmental puzzles, and cinematic storytelling in this game, too. The story takes place two years after the original, so Lana is older, more experienced, and a lot more agile than before.

She can wall jump, dash, slide, and move through different environments with much smoother movement. Meanwhile, Mui, her cat-like creature has its own abilities. It can hack into machines and use telepathy to briefly control other creatures.

Planet of Lana II tells its story through visuals, music, character expressions, and interactions with the world. The characters communicate through an alien language. You’ll travel across frozen peaks, deep oceans, and forgotten ruins, exploring a hand-painted planet where nature and technology constantly clash. Traditional Scopa uses a standard 40-card Italian deck or a regular 52-card poker deck with 8s, 9s, and 10s removed. Players place 4 cards face-up in the centre of the table and deal 3 cards face-down to each player.

Scopa Sweep is a single-player roguelike game where you maximise and scale scores exponentially across runs by beating tables and surviving boss levels. It retains the fundamental Scopa card-matching and sweep mechanics, but wraps them in an escalating scoring system.

One of the main things you’ll want to pull off is a SCOPA, which is when you sweep all the cards off the table. Doing that increases your multiplier, making it easier to push your score higher. You’ll also have objectives to complete, and these give you permanent bonuses that stack up as you meet them.

In Scopa Sweep, you rebuild your engine every run, so the bonuses and rules you work with can change depending on what you pick up along the way. Patrons sitting at your table can increase the points you earn by boosting multipliers or changing the rules themselves.

Card enhancements also let you modify the rules attached to individual cards, opening up even more opportunities to grab extra bonuses. Then you’ve got boss twists, which add another layer of challenge when things start getting a little too comfortable.

Scopa Sweep has an Endless mode that unlocks past Table 8

If you’ve never played Scopa before, you don’t need to worry too much about figuring everything out on your own. The game takes around five minutes to learn, and there’s a guided round that walks you through the basics of the game.

Kettle Street: Cosy Life Sim drops you into Kettleby, a small town

There’s the miniature model-village look, with Victorian terraced houses, brick walls, pebbledash, slate and tile roofs, chimneys, satellite dishes, and sash windows. You’ve just moved into a one-bedroom flat on Kettle Street with £60 to your name, a few boxes, and rent due next Monday.

Thankfully, your neighbour Maureen is already putting the kettle on, so at least somebody’s making you feel welcome. Now you’ve just got to find a job and earn some money. There are five jobs, and each one has its own ranks, from being a trainee to positions like head waiter or assistant manager.

And you know what? You actually have to do the jobs yourself. You can drive a parcel delivery van around town using the sat-nav, making sure every parcel reaches the correct door. Or get behind the wheel of the number 12 double-decker bus and stop at every bus stop.

Or you can work at Café Rosa, where you’ll take orders, make tea and bacon butties, serve customers, clear tables, wash up, and collect tips. Over at the Red Lion pub, you’ll be pulling pints for Jackie by holding to pour and letting go when the drink reaches the line. Then there’s the Kettleby Tandoori, where you’ll be serving tables, getting the papadams out first, bringing people their tikka masala, and dealing with the packed Thursday curry club.

Kettle Street: Cosy Life Sim is as real as it gets

There’s Hopkins Lettings, which lets you look around different rental properties with Mrs Hopkins, starting with a one-bed place on the High Street and eventually eyeing up an end terrace with a big garden.

There are seven neighbours in Kettle Street: Cosy Life Sim. You can run errands for them, build friendship hearts, receive gifts and letters, and eventually pop round for a brew once you’ve become friends. Every house in town has its own interior, too.

There’s a proper day-and-night cycle, too. And so is a proper seasonal cycle. Windows start glowing after dark, curtains get drawn, and street lamps light up the pavements. The weather changes throughout the year, bringing sunny spells, drizzle, downpours, and the odd heatwave. And of course, it includes the holidays, too!

Consider the tips below to be a checklist of daily activities you should perform to maximize the number of Monopoly Go free rolls you can get.

Facebook Gifts

Follow the official Facebook, as Scopely has started to dish out free gifts via that channel. It’s not quite daily just yet, but it should grow over time.

Instagram Stories

Scopely is now giving away Monopoly GO free dice on the official Instagram, though usually via competition. Follow the group and see what you can get!

Daily Links

Much like Coin Master, Monopoly GO! gives away a handful of free dice via links per day. However, unlike Coin Master, they’re very difficult to get hold of and only drop in Discord.

They also expire incredibly quickly, so you’ll have to set up notifications and keep checking back throughout the day. There are plenty of rolls on offer via this method though, so it’s worth it even though it’s frustrating.

Play Regularly

You should play regularly to maximize the number of Monopoly GO free rolls you get. Why? Well, you get a free roll every five minutes, and this number is capped at 30 initially, though you can lift it by leveling up.

What that means is, that once you have 30 rolls ready to go, you can no longer earn any further free rolls. By not playing every single time this cap is reached, you’re, effectively, wasting rolls. Set up notifications so you never forget, or simply check in twice per day to ensure that you’re always spending your free rolls.

Town Upgrades

You can spend the cash you earn from rolling dice on town upgrades, including statues, buildings, and other real-life points of interest. Once you’ve built all the upgrades a town has to offer, and upgraded them to the max, your town is considered complete and you move on to the next one.

When this happens, you earn Monopoly Go free rolls that you can use on the board. That’s right – it pays to spend in Monopoly Go.

Level Up

As you roll dice and spend money, your net worth increases and this number represents your level. As your net worth increases, you earn various rewards that can occasionally include free rolls.

The only way you can increase your net worth is by playing though, so this is more something that will just happen as you progress.

Complete Albums

Much like in Coin Master, you can occasionally open sticker packs that reward you with stickers. These are all part of a specific album, and if you complete the album you get rewards that can include free rolls.

You earn stickers as you play, via events, or for daily logins, so don’t worry too much about chasing them down. You can trade duplicates with friends, or by joining the trading group on Facebook.

Login Rewards

The first time you login to Monopoly Go each day, you earn a reward. Yes, these can include free rolls! You can check the rewards on a weekly basis, so you always know when to expect some dice.

Daily Challenges

Each day, you can complete three simple challenges to get your hands on some quick rewards. As you can expect, these do include free wins on occasion, so make sure to check in each day and complete them.

These daily challenges all go towards weekly rewards too, so make sure to keep completing these every day.

Add Friends

Each time you invite a friend and they start playing Monopoly Go, you earn 30 free rolls. Go crazy and invite as many people as possible.

After PC, the game made its way to PS4, PlayStation Vita, iOS, and Nintendo Switch (its iOS release also earned a Game of the Day award). BancyCo co-founder Benjamin Rivers said that he has been pretty surprised by how long the game has stuck around.

Just in time for Halloween!

The biggest news is that Home – Unique Horror Adventure is available for the first time on Android. It’s available on Android via the Google Play Store and the Epic Games Store (where you can grab it for free until October 29th). The game usually costs $2.99 on mobile.

So, let’s talk about the actual 14th anniversary update. The main addition is Postmortem Mode, which originally arrived with the Nintendo Switch edition. It adds developer commentary directly into the game, with the commentary changing depending on the choices you make during your playthrough.

There’s also a new behind-the-scenes gallery featuring assets from the game’s development. On top of that, the update includes better controller support and 60 FPS gameplay. So, you can jump into the game and check out the new additions.

And in case you haven’t played the game on any platform yet, let me tell you a bit about it. It starts with a guy waking up in a strange, dark room inside a house he doesn’t recognise. There’s a storm rolling in, and he initially suspects he might have been sleepwalking.

As he explores, he finds clues that lead him through different locations. It includes an industrial plant where he seems to have worked, a local park, abandoned buildings, underground passages, forests, and other isolated places.

Along the way, he comes across signs of violence, bloodstains, notes, disappearances, and what appears to be a murder mystery. Most of the gameplay involves walking around, checking your surroundings, reading notes, examining objects, and making choices about what you believe happened.

Sarcoph is now free on Android!

Sarcoph is an industrial city that became a complete no-go zone 25 years ago after a massive crater appeared just outside it. The authorities ordered everyone to evacuate permanently as an industrial accident released a toxic fog that killed most of the people living there.

You play as a scavenger who sneaks into the abandoned city looking for valuables. Someone has tipped you off about ceremonial golden statues hidden inside one of the old collective housing blocks. Your job is to find the idols, get them back to the elevator, and escape asap.

But there’s a creature called the Occupant who’s guarding the idols. This pale, fast-moving, multi-limbed nightmare stalks the hallways and attacks when it detects you. You’ll need to hide, figure out where you can safely move, and use whatever tools you have available to survive.

A crowbar can help you pry open blocked paths, remove wooden planks, and even defend yourself in a tight situation. And while it offers a way to defend yourself once, not having one when the Occupant catches up with you can leave you feeling pretty helpless.

Sarcoph captures that uncomfortable feeling of being somewhere you absolutely shouldn’t be. The game offers controller support as well as cross-platform options between PC and mobile versions. It’s free to download and play worldwide on the Google Play Store. Just in time for Halloween!

Sometimes describing Dead Cells feels like you’re just listing off modern gaming buzzwords. But the fact of the matter is, it’s really, really good. It’s a roguelite metroidvania with some soulslike elements where you return to the dungeons you emerged from each time you die… and the warped island you need to conquer changes itself.

It’s hard, but controls so well that getting wiped never really feels unfair.

This is a title from the devs behind Crashlands. (Which may feature on some of out other genre lists.) Levelhead isn’t just a platformer, it lets you build your own levels as well. If you’re looking for an experience packed with creative possibilities, then Levelhead is definitely that. The leaping is ace too. You get everything with a single up-front payment.

LIMBO – 4.3 Score On Google Play

A bleak journey through a shadowy and hostile world that seems highly dedicated to wanting you dead. You get shocks, surprises, and an art style copied countless times since the game came out. It’s just as good on mobile as on any other platform, and it’s premium too.

As you might guess from the image, there’s also a VERY big spider, so arachnophobes may want to pass on this particular title.

Super Dangerous Dungeons – 4.3 Score On Google Play

A retro-tastic platformer that mixes together challenge and charm in equal measure. It’s full of neat ideas, the controls are impressive and there’s a real sense of accomplishment when you get past a tricky section. It’s free, with an IAP to get rid of the ads.

Dandara: Trials of Fear Edition – 4.5 Score On Google Play

A smart, swipey action platformer that blends together the modern and the old school in some really intriguing ways. It might take a while to click, but when it does you’re going to love every second of it. This one’s a premium release as well.

Ordia – 4.4 Score On Google Play

Platforming one-handed? It’s doable in Ordia, where you only need one finger engaged to play, as you help the slimy little ooze-ball navigate a strange and colorful world. Perfect for killing some time on the bus or train.

Master the forces of physics in this cute but depth-filled platformer. Armed with some ancient tech, it’s up to you to scale the dangerous heights of the Tesla Tower. Another plus, it’s optimized specifically for controller use.

A port of the PC and console title, Little Nightmares presents you with a grim 3D world to explore as a tiny, yellow-coated girl. You must hop around a place far too big for you, and evade its hideous inhabitants that trapped you there.

This one seems almost like cheating as it’s so well known, but if you’re looking for a way to have some sustained fun experiences with your buddies, then Minecraft multiplayer offers near endless options. If you’re a Java enjoyer, you can even use an app like Pojav to load your Java version on your Android device, and add mods… as long as you don’t mind putting your device through a trial by fire.

Gumslingers

Gumslingers is a battle royale unlike any other. It sees you taking on up to 63 opponents at a time in a vast gummy-on-gummy brawl to the death, shooting at a variety of wobbly, appetizing gummy characters until only two remain.

Instant restarts make Gumslingers a lot less exacting than most battle royales, though you still need to apply some aiming skills if you want to come out on top. Headshots count, even when the heads are made of gelatin. 

The Past Within

Reach through time along with a friend through The Past Within, an adventure game that requires cooperative play. One player is in the past, the other in the future, and the mystery can only be solved with a view from both perspectives. Need someone else to play with? The game even has a Discord server where eager players can find their fellow time-travellers.

Shadow Fight Arena

Shadow Fight Arena is a fighting game from a more innocent time when timing was more important than memorizing a dozen different combinations of button presses and joystick waggles. It sees you going head-to-head with other players in matches that are accessible yet deep. It’s absolutely stunning, too, with detailed character art and a variety of gorgeously rendered backdrops. It would be better if it were a premium title, but you can’t have everything. 

Goose Goose Duck

Fan of the phenomenon that is Among Us but feel like you’ve seen all that game has to offer? Well, Goose Goose Duck gives you all the fun of the spaceman deception game, with extra layers of complexity.. and chaos. As geese, you need to root out the malicious ducks among you, but it’s not that simple.

There are various classes within both the geese and the ducks, which give different skills, immunities, and objectives. You might even find some other avian species have managed to sneak in, too.

Sky: Children Of The Light

Want a multiplayer experience that’s a little unconventional, and not full of randos trying to pick a fight with you? Sky: Children Of The Light is an MMORPG unlike any other. With no usernames, no chat until you’ve levelled friendship with a player, and an emphasis on friendly behavior, this gorgeous game from the creators of Journey might be the most good-natured MMO around.

Brawlhalla

Brawlhalla is pretty much exactly what you’d imagine a free-to-play, cross-platform Smash Bros rival from Ubisoft would be like. This cartoony brawler features a ton of characters, with new ones entering the arena all the time via events.

There are over 20 game modes, including 1v1, 2v2, four-player free-for-all. 1v3, 4v4, and more. Plus, there are mini-games to dip into from time to time, such as Brawlball, Capture the Flag, Kung-Foot, and Bombsketball.

Bullet Echo

ZeptoLab used to be a one-trick pony, with only the Cut the Rope series to its name. We’re glad it branched out, as the studio has managed to get two marvelous multiplayer games into this roundup.

Bullet Echo is an ingenious and accessible top-down tactical shooter that looks at first glance like a multiplayer version of Hotline Miami. It’s so much deeper, with a gameplay mechanic that relies both on the field of vision provided by your flashlight and the sounds your enemies make as they stalk through adjacent corridors. 

Old School Runescape

Relive your childhood, or experience a new RPG, they’re Old School Runescape. This accurate recreation of the Runescape of yesteryear might lack a little in graphical fidelity, but makes up for it in pure nostalgia and a ton of content to play with your friends.

Gwent: The Witcher Card Game

For many of us, Gwent was the best thing about The Witcher 3, and the urge to find new cards, enter tournaments, and take on ever more skilled players was a game in itself. Gwent: The Witcher Card Game is a real wishlist item – a minigame that became a standalone release, building on the original and allowing you bring your hard-won skills to bear against other human players. It’s cross-platform, too, so there are always plenty of opponents online. 

Roblox

While it’s easy to dismiss at first glance as just some virtual lego, the Roblox platform gives you a ton of experiences to choose from, and a lot of features that make it really easy to play with friends. Private servers, mechanics that let you join friends immediately, and a crazy variety of games, from multiplayer FPS, to Squid Game clones, to survival horror, to a game where you sell organs in a sandwich shop.

If you aren’t someone easily swayed by microtransactions, then it’s well worth a go.

Vampire Survivors

We kind of love Vampire Survivors for a number of reasons… but its multiplayer functions are another reason to adore it. You can attach controllers and play on the same device if you want to, and even put it on a larger screen to feel like you’re back on the Super Nintendo.

Terraria

2D Minecraft anyone? This pixel art building and survival game is easy to get started with, and quickly balloons out until you’re fighting monsters that fill half the screen and digging down to new realms below the earth.
