Let me be honest, I have more then a few plants. I like growing them, propagating them, sharing them with friends, and most of all, putting them inside of something that looks super good.

So I have worked to develop a whole line of metal planter boxes and metal vessels for showing off your plants.

Credenza Industrial TV Stand

I was asked to design and build a very unique TV stand for a local client. They wanted a credenza style TV stand, but wanted an electric tv lift mounted inside and wanted to conceal a specified TV size. They also wanted it to look as if the TV was completely hidden inside the furniture piece. It was an interesting challenge and a great opportunity to really get creative.

I sourced an electric TV lift off the internet and started working with the constraints of the TV. Everything was designed and modified in 3D design before we had a solution that meet all needs. Then it was off to building the piece. I used industrial rivets and expanded metal mesh on the front doors to give an industrial feel. I also planed and jointed heart pine from the clients grandfather’s barn. Needless to say, everyone was very happy with how this one off piece of furniture turned out.

Industrial Concrete Rolling Bar Table

I took some time this summer to make a new patio bar table to enjoy in my backyard. I wanted to explore working with concrete a little more and decided to try out a polished top with exposed aggregate. Once the slab the 400lb slab was finished, I mounted it on a large rolling steel frame. I painted the frame red and distressed for a really awesome look. Overall this table is around 32 inches wide and 84 inches long. It is a big upgrade to our previous table. Im really happy with how it all turned out. What do you think?

Fall Art 2017

Recently I have been working on many new metal art pieces for up coming shows this fall. I will be at the Kentuck Art Festival on October 21st and 22nd. I am also participating in a gallery show at Carnegie Arts Center in Decatur, Al opening in Mid November.

I decided I would reveal a few of these new pieces on this blog as a sneak peek. All three of these pieces are circular in nature. With these pieces, I was trying to portray a feeling of complexity and simplicity. A feeling of balance and organization amongst disarray. Both the seen and the unseen. The idea of different halves, different parts, and opposites attracting was one central idea that led to the creation of these pieces. Hope you enjoy!

Huntsville Hospital Donor Wall

We were recently presented with a challenge while collaborating with Hunstville Hospital and Hospice of Alabama to create a simple, clean, and tasteful donor wall at a new Hospice Care Facility. The new Hospice facility is a modern care facility for patients with terminal illness to receive the best care and comfort. We wanted to give thanks to all the individuals and organizations whose thoughtful donations made the facility possible. We decided to waterjet cutout the all the names from thick 1/4 inch aluminum. These names were designed in three sizes. They were waterjet with an underline connecting all the letters so each name became one single piece to help with installation. After the names were all cut, they were powder coated an antiqued bronze color and installed onto the white ship boards. The end result perfectly presents the kind donations of the individuals and parties while becoming a feature wall in an waiting area of the special facility.

Roosevelt and Company is a new men’s clothing store located here in Huntsville, AL. The store front is a build out of the bottom level of a parking garage off the main stretch of downtown Huntsville on Clinton Ave. They offer a casual side of the store featuring designer jeans, shirts, and accessories. They also have a more up scale side of the store offering tailored suits. They also have a corner of the store that is home to a barber shop.

While developing the brand, they wanted to run with an industrial feel using raw steel and concrete to tie into the parking garage past. The biggest piece was the cash bar. It was designed to look like a industrial metal bar but hold the computers and all the behind the scenes running of the store. We created the frame and face from hot rolled steel and used exposed rivets to get a real industrial feel. We poured a concrete upper counter top and a lower counter top. Then we finished out the back with some Red Oak shelves and drawers. It turned out to be an amazing and detailed piece.

We created this display table using a metal base welded from hot rolled steel rod in a random pattern. Then a 6ft diameter 1/2 thick piece of tempered glass was added to the top to create an original statement piece.

In the loft waiting area, we created this reclaimed wooden beam coffee table. The beam was pulled from a collapsed school house in Prospect, Tn with the help of my dad. It sat on blocks for a few years at my parents farm before I finally found a used for it on this one of a kind coffee table. We added a metal base and 1/2 thick piece of glass to finish out this piece.

We created a series of rolling hanging racks and shelving racks for moving around the store and showing off different merchandise.
