The proclamation reads as follows:<br /><strong><br />PROCLAMATION<br /><br />JUST SAY NO &ndash; 2008</strong><br /><br /><strong>WHEREAS</strong>, Alcohol, tobacco and other drug use by our youth is one of the most serious problems facing our society today; and<br /><br /><strong>WHEREAS</strong>, The Westminster Area Community Awareness Action Team works to empower youth to lead healthy, productive, drug-free lives; and<br /><br /><strong>WHEREAS</strong>, The Drug Free Conference is a community based program dedicated to the well being of children and teenagers and locally coordinated by Westminster Area Community Awareness Action Team; and<br /><br /><strong>WHEREAS</strong>, Resiliency of youth is promoted through Schools, City and Community Programs and Drug Free Clubs by providing opportunities to form strong relationships with positive peers and adults within community institutions, develop new life skills, and assume useful, meaningful roles in their communities.<br /><br /><strong>NOW THEREFORE</strong>, Adams County School District 50 Board of Education and Dr. Roberta Selleck, Superintendent of Schools, do hereby proclaim the week of April 27, 2008 &ndash; May 3, 2008 as<br /><strong>JUST SAY NO WEEK</strong><br /><br />Encouraging all District 50 students to participate in this effort and be reminded that drug use by youth is a serious problem which requires everyone&rsquo;s attention.<br /><strong>Signed this 8th day of April 2008</strong><br /><br />A similar proclamation will be made in the City of Westminster on April 28, 2008.
