In large doses, it can act as a laxative. Generic antacid tablets are available.

Take magnesium hydroxide; aluminum hydroxide tablets by mouth. Follow the directions on the prescription label. Chew well, or crush the tablets before swallowing; follow with a glass of water. Antacids are usually taken after meals and at bedtime, or as directed by your prescriber. Take your doses at regular intervals. Do not take your medicine more often than directed.

Ofloxacin should be avoided in children and adolescents under 18 years old, as safe use in these patients have not been established.

Many antibiotics, including ofloxacin, can alter the normal bacteria in the colon and encourage overgrowth of a bacteria responsible for the development of inflammation of the colon (pseudomembranous colitis). Pseudomembranous colitis can cause fever, abdominal pain, diarrhea, and sometimes even shock. Patients taking ofloxacin can develop sensitivity of the skin to direct sunlight. Ofloxacin can enhance the action of the anticoagulant warfarin (Coumadin), and increase the risk of bleeding. Both high and low blood sugars have been reported in patients with diabetes taking ofloxacin together with insulin or other medications used to lower the blood sugar. Careful monitoring of blood sugars is, therefore, recommended when these drugs are concurrently used.

Ofloxacin should be avoided during pregnancy, as safe use in these patients have not been established and should be avoided in nursing mothers, as safe use in these patients have not been established.

The most frequent side effects include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, insomnia, headache, dizziness, itching, and vaginitis in women. Rare allergic reactions have been described, such as hives and anaphylaxis (shock). Symptoms of nervous system stimulation, such as anxiety, euphoria, and hallucinations have rarely been reported.

Ofloxacin as well as other antibiotics in the fluoroquinolone class of antibiotics, has been associated with tendinitis and even rupture of tendons, particularly the Achilles tendon. Some physicians recommend that their patients discontinue vigorous exercise while they are taking fluoroquinolone antibiotics.

Hydrochlorothiazide is a thiazide diuretic that helps prevent your body from absorbing too much salt, which can cause fluid retention.

Hydrochlorothiazide treats fluid retention (edema) in people with congestive heart failure, cirrhosis of the liver, or kidney disorders, or edema caused by taking steroids or estrogen. This medication is also used to treat high blood pressure.

Do not use this medication if you are allergic to hydrochlorothiazide or if you are unable to urinate.

Before using this medication, tell your doctor if you have liver disease, kidney disease, asthma or allergies, gout, diabetes, or if you are allergic to sulfa drugs.
Avoid drinking alcohol, which can increase some of the side effects of hydrochlorothiazide.

Avoid becoming overheated or dehydrated during exercise and in hot weather. Follow your doctor's instructions about the type and amount of liquids you should drink. In some cases, drinking too much liquid can be as unsafe as not drinking enough.
There are many other medicines that can interact with hydrochlorothiazide. Tell your doctor about all the prescription and over-the-counter medications you use. This includes vitamins, minerals, herbal products, and drugs prescribed by other doctors. Do not start using a new medication without telling your doctor. Keep a list with you of all the medicines you use and show this list to any doctor or other healthcare provider who treats you.

If you are being treated for high blood pressure, keep using this medication even if you feel fine. High blood pressure often has no symptoms.

Side Effects.

Get emergency medical help if you have any of these signs of an allergic reaction: hives; difficulty breathing; swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat. Stop using this medication and call your doctor at once if you have a serious side effect such as:

- dry mouth, thirst, nausea, vomiting;
- feeling weak, drowsy, restless, or light-headed;
- fast or uneven heartbeat;
- muscle pain or weakness;
- numbness or tingly feeling;
- a red, blistering, peeling skin rash; or
- nausea, stomach pain, low fever, loss of appetite, dark urine, clay-colored stools, jaundice (yellowing of the skin or eyes).

Less serious side effects may include:

- diarrhea;
- mild stomach pain;
- constipation; or
- blurred vision.

Cyproheptadine.

Cyproheptadine relieves red, irritated, itchy, watery eyes; sneezing; and runny nose caused by allergies, irritants in the air, and hay fever. It may also be used to relieve the itching of allergic skin conditions, and to treat hives, including hives caused by exposure to cold temperatures and by rubbing the skin.

Cyproheptadine is also sometimes used to treat allergic reactions in people who have received blood products as part of medical treatment and to treat life-threatening allergic reactions after the symptoms have been brought under control with other medications.

Cyproheptadine should not be used to treat children younger than 2 years of age because it may cause serious or life-threatening side effects in young children. Cyproheptadine should be used carefully in children 2-11 years of age.

Cyproheptadine will help relieve symptoms but will not treat the cause of symptoms or speed recovery. Cyproheptadine should not be used to cause sleepiness in children. Cyproheptadine is in a class of medications called antihistamines. It works by blocking the action of histamine, a substance in the body that causes allergic symptoms.

Cyproheptadine also is used for the treatment of Cushing's Syndrome (an abnormal condition that is caused by excess hormones [corticosteroids]) and to treat certain types of headache such as migraine. Talk to your doctor about the possible risks of using this medication for your condition.

Before taking cyproheptadine,

- tell your doctor and pharmacist if you are allergic to cyproheptadine, other antihistamines, or any other medications.
- tell your doctor and pharmacist what prescription and nonprescription medications, vitamins, nutritional supplements, and herbal products you are taking or plan to take. Be sure to mention any of the following: other medications for allergies or colds; medications for anxiety, depression or seizures; muscle relaxants; narcotics medications for pain; sedatives sleeping pills, and tranquilizers. Your doctor may need to change the doses of your medications or monitor you carefully for side effects.
- tell your doctor if you have or have ever had asthma, glaucoma (a condition in which increased pressure in the eye can lead to gradual loss of vision), ulcers, difficulty urinating (due to an enlarged prostate gland), heart disease, high blood pressure,seizures, or an overactive thyroid gland.
- tell your doctor if you are pregnant, plan to become pregnant, or are breast-feeding. If you become pregnant while taking cyproheptadine, call your doctor.
- if you are having surgery, including dental surgery, tell the doctor or dentist that you are taking cyproheptadine.
- you should know that this medication may make you drowsy. Do not drive a car or operate machinery until you know how this medication affects you.
- remember that alcohol can add to the drowsiness caused by this medication.

Amoxicillin.

Amoxicillin is an antibiotic in the penicillin group of drugs. It fights bacteria in your body.

Amoxicillin is used to treat many different types of infections caused by bacteria, such as ear infections, bladder infections, pneumonia, gonorrhea, and E. coli or salmonella infection. Amoxicillin is also sometimes used together with another antibiotic called clarithromycin (Biaxin) to treat stomach ulcers caused by Helicobacter pylori infection. This combination is sometimes used with a stomach acid reducer called lansoprazole (Prevacid).

Amoxicillin may also be used for other purposes not listed in this medication guide.

Do not use this medication if you are allergic to amoxicillin or to any other penicillin antibiotic, such as ampicillin (Omnipen, Principen), carbenicillin (Geocillin), dicloxacillin (Dycill, Dynapen), oxacillin (Bactocill), penicillin (Beepen-VK, Ledercillin VK, Pen-V, Pen-Vee K, Pfizerpen, V-Cillin K, Veetids), and others.

Amoxicillin can make birth control pills less effective, which may result in pregnancy. Before taking amoxicillin, tell your doctor if you use birth control pills. Take this medication for the entire length of time prescribed by your doctor. Your symptoms may get better before the infection is completely treated. Amoxicillin will not treat a viral infection such as the common cold or flu. Do not give this medication to another person, even if they have the same symptoms you do.

Antibiotic medicines can cause diarrhea, which may be a sign of a new infection. If you have diarrhea that is watery or has blood in it, call your doctor. Do not use any medicine to stop the diarrhea unless your doctor has told you to.

If you are taking amoxicillin with clarithromycin and/or lansoprazole to treat stomach ulcer, use all of your medications as directed. Be sure to read the medication guide or patient instructions provided with each of your medications. Do not change your doses or medication schedule without advice from your doctor.

Side effects.

Get emergency medical help if you have any of these signs of an allergic reaction: hives; difficulty breathing; swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat. Call your doctor at once if you have any of these serious side effects:

- fever, sore throat, and headache with a severe blistering, peeling, and red skin rash;

Gemfibrozil helps reduce cholesterol and triglycerides (fatty acids) in the blood. High levels of these types of fat in the blood are associated with an increased risk of atherosclerosis (clogged arteries).

Gemfibrozil is used to treat very high cholesterol and triglyceride levels in people with pancreatitis.

Gemfibrozil is also used to lower the risk of stroke, heart attack, or other heart complications in people with high cholesterol and triglycerides who have not been helped by other treatment methods.

Gemfibrozil may also be used for other purposes not listed in this medication guide.

You should not use this medication if you are allergic to gemfibrozil or if you have gallbladder disease, liver disease, or severe kidney disease.

Gemfibrozil is only part of a complete program of treatment that also includes diet, exercise, and weight control. Follow your diet, medication, and exercise routines very closely.

Nifedipine is in a class of drugs called calcium channel blockers. Nifedipine relaxes (widens) your blood vessels (veins and arteries), which makes it easier for the heart to pump and reduces its workload.

Nifedipine is used to lower hypertension (high blood pressure) and to treat angina (chest pain).

Nifedipine may also be used for purposes other than those listed in this medication guide.

Do not stop taking nifedipine without first talking to your doctor, even if you begin to feel better. If you stop taking the medication, your condition could become worse. Do not crush, chew, or break any form of nifedipine. Swallow the pills whole. Do not consume grapefruit or grapefruit juice during treatment with this medication. Nifedipine can interact with grapefruit and grapefruit juice, and the interaction may have dangerous effects. You should discuss the use of grapefruit and grapefruit juice with your doctor.

Before taking this medication, tell your doctor if you have

- kidney disease;
- liver disease;
- another disease of the heart or blood vessels such as sick sinus syndrome, aortic stenosis, heart failure, low blood pressure, or coronary artery disease.

You may not be able to take nifedipine, or you may require a dosage adjustment or special monitoring during treatment if you have any of the conditions listed above.
Nifedipine is in the FDA pregnancy category C. This means that it is not known whether this medication will be harmful to an unborn baby. Do not take nifedipine without first talking to your doctor if you are pregnant or could become pregnant during treatment. Nifedipine passes into breast milk. Do not take nifedipine without first talking to your doctor if you are breast-feeding a baby. If you are over 65 years of age, you may be more likely to experience side effects from nifedipine. Your doctor may prescribe a lower dose of this medication.

Side effects.

If you experience any of the following serious side effects, stop taking nifedipine and contact your doctor immediately or seek emergency medical treatment:

- an allergic reaction (difficulty breathing; closing of the throat; swelling of the lips, tongue, or face; or hives);
- unusually fast or slow heartbeats;
- severe dizziness or fainting;
- psychosis;
- yellowing of the skin or eyes (jaundice); or
- swelling of the legs or ankles.

Other, less serious side effects may be more likely to occur. Continue to take nifedipine and talk to your doctor if you experience

- headache, fatigue, or tiredness;
- flushing;
- insomnia;
- vivid or abnormal dreams;
- nausea or constipation; or
- increased urination.

Side effects other than those listed here may also occur. Talk to your doctor about any side effect that seems unusual or that is especially bothersome.

Before taking nifedipine, tell your doctor if you are taking any of the following drugs:

- another heart medication to treat the same or another condition;
- cimetidine (Tagamet, Tagamet HB);
- erythromycin (E-Mycin, E.E.S., Eryc, Ery-Tab, others);
- itraconazole (Sporanox) or ketoconazole (Nizoral);
- carbamazepine (Tegretol);
- phenytoin (Dilantin); or
- rifampin (Rifadin, Rimactane) or rifabutin (Mycobutin).

You may not be able to take nifedipine, or you may require a dosage adjustment or special monitoring if you are taking any of the medicines listed above.

Betahistine is used to treat Meniere's disease. Meniere's disease occurs when there is a build up of fluid within the inner ear. This causes symptoms such as tinnitus (buzzing in the ear), deafness and vertigo (a spinning sensation often causing vomiting). These attacks may last for a few hours and then not come back for months, or you may experience a cluster of attacks.

Betahistine works by reducing the amount of fluid in the inner ear and therefore relieves these symptoms.

Before taking Betahistine make sure your doctor or pharmacist knows if you

- are pregnant, trying for a baby or breast-feeding
- have ever had an allergic reaction to this or any other medicine
- suffer from, or have ever had, a peptic (stomach) ulcer
- suffer from asthma
- suffer from phaeochromocytoma (a tumour on the adrenal gland)
- are taking any other medicines, including those available to buy without a prescription, herbal and complementary medicines

Directions

Take your medication exactly as directed by your doctor.

Always read the manufacturer's information leaflet, if possible, before beginning treatment.

Try to take this medicine at the same times each day to avoid missing any doses. If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember and continue taking it at the usual times. However, if it is nearly time for your next dose, leave out the missed dose and continue as normal. Never take two doses at the same time to make up. If in doubt speak to your pharmacist or doctor.

Take Betahistine with food.

Never take more than the prescribed dose. If you suspect that you or someone else has taken an overdose of Betahistine contact your doctor or go to the accident and emergency department of your local hospital at once. Always take the container with you, if possible, even if empty.

This medicine is for you. Never give it to others even if their condition appears to be the same as yours.

Side Effects

Along with their needed effects, all medicines can cause unwanted side effects, which usually improve as your body adjusts to the new medicine. Ciprofloxacin.

This medication is used to treat a variety of bacterial infections. Ciprofloxacin belongs to a class of drugs called quinolone antibiotics. It works by stopping the growth of bacteria. This antibiotic only treats bacterial infections. It will not work for viral infections (e.g., common cold, flu). Unnecessary use or overuse of any antibiotic can lead to its decreased effectiveness.

This medication may be taken with or without food, usually twice a day, in the morning and in the evening, or use as directed by your doctor. Take this medication 2 hours before or 6 hours after taking any products containing magnesium, aluminum, or calcium. Some examples include quinapril, certain forms of didanosine (chewable/dispersible buffered tablets or pediatric oral solution), vitamins/minerals, antacids, dairy products (e.g., milk, yogurt), calcium-enriched juice, and sucralfate. Other products include bismuth subsalicylate, iron, and zinc. They bind with ciprofloxacin preventing its full absorption.

SIDE EFFECTS.

Stomach upset, loss of appetite, diarrhea, nausea, headache, vision changes or dizziness may occur during the first few days. If any of these effects persist or worsen, notify your doctor or pharmacist promptly. Tell your doctor immediately if any of these unlikely but serious side effects occur: sunburn-like skin reaction (sun sensitivity). Tell your doctor immediately if any of these highly unlikely but very serious side effects occur: seizures, mental/mood changes (including rare thoughts of suicide), numbness/tingling of the hands/feet, hearing loss, easy bruising or bleeding, persistent sore throat or fever, irregular heartbeat, chest pain, stomach pain, yellowing eyes and skin, dark urine, unusual change in the amount of urine, unusual fatigue. This medication may rarely cause tendon damage (e.g., tendonitis, tendon rupture). Seek immediate medical attention, rest, and stop exercising if you develop joint/muscle/tendon pain or swelling. This medication may rarely cause a severe intestinal condition (pseudomembranous colitis) due to a resistant bacteria. This condition may occur weeks after treatment has stopped. Do not use anti-diarrhea products or narcotic pain medications if you have the following symptoms because these products may make them worse. Tell your doctor immediately if you develop: persistent diarrhea, abdominal or stomach pain/cramping, blood/mucus in your stool. Use of this medication for prolonged or repeated periods may result in oral thrush or a new vaginal yeast infection (oral or vaginal fungal infection). Contact your doctor if you notice white patches in your mouth, a change in vaginal discharge or other new symptoms. A serious allergic reaction to this drug is unlikely, but seek immediate medical attention if it occurs. Symptoms of a serious allergic reaction include: rash, itching, swelling, severe dizziness, trouble breathing. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.

PRECAUTIONS.
Before taking ciprofloxacin, tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are allergic to it; or to other quinolone antibiotics such as levofloxacin; or if you have any other allergies. Before using this medication, tell your doctor or pharmacist your medical history, especially of: seizures, brain or nervous system disorders, kidney disease, joint/tendon problems (e.g., tendonitis, bursitis), liver disease, blood vessel problems. This drug may make you dizzy or light-headed; use caution engaging in activities requiring alertness such as driving or using machinery. Limit alcoholic beverages. This medication may make you more sensitive to the sun. Avoid prolonged sun exposure, tanning booths or sunlamps. Use a sunscreen and wear protective clothing when outdoors. Caution is advised when using this drug in the elderly because they may be more sensitive to its side effects (e.g., tendon problems), especially if they are also taking corticosteroids (e.g., prednisone, hydrocortisone). Caution is advised when using this drug in children because they may be more sensitive to its possible side effects (e.g., joint/tendon problems). Discuss the risks and benefits with the doctor. This medication should be used only when clearly needed during pregnancy. Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor. This medication passes into breast milk. Breast-feeding is not recommended while using this drug.

Domperidone

This medication increases movement through the digestive system. It is used to treat symptoms of stomach disorders. It may also be used to prevent nausea and vomiting caused by certain medications. Due to safety concerns, this medication is not to be used by breast-feeding women to increase production of breast milk.

Take this medication by mouth as prescribed usually 30 minutes before meals and at bedtime. Do not increase your dose or take this more often than directed. Your condition will not improve any faster but the risk of side effects will be increased.

Side Effects

Headache, dizziness, dry mouth, nervousness, flushing, or irritability may occur the first several days as your body adjusts to the medication. Trouble sleeping, stomach cramps, hot flashes and leg cramps have also been reported. If any of these effects continue or become bothersome, inform your doctor. Notify your doctor immediately if you develop: chest pain, slow/fast/irregular heartbeat, swelling of the feet or ankles, difficulty urinating, swelling of the breasts or discharge from the nipple in men or women, menstrual changes, sexual difficulties. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.

Precautions

Tell your doctor your medical history, especially of: history of breast cancer, allergies. Limit your intake of alcoholic beverages. This medication should be used only if clearly needed during pregnancy. Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor. Domperidone passes into breast milk. Due to the potential risks to a nursing infant, breast-feeding while using this drug is not recommended. Consult your doctor before breast-feeding (see also Uses section).

Drug Interactions

Because this medication enhances movement in the digestive tract, it may affect the absorption and action of other medications. Therefore, it is important to tell your doctor of any nonprescription or prescription medication you may take, especially of: MAOIs (e.g., furazolidone, phenelzine, selegiline, tranylcypromine). Do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.

Diltiazem belongs to a class of medications called calcium channel blockers. These medications block the transport of calcium into the smooth muscle cells lining the coronary arteries and other arteries of the body. Since calcium is important in muscle contraction, blocking calcium transport relaxes artery muscles and dilates coronary arteries and other arteries of the body. By relaxing coronary arteries, diltiazem is useful in treating and preventing chest pain (angina) resulting from coronary artery spasm. Relaxing the muscles lining the arteries of the rest of the body lowers blood pressure, which reduces the burden on the heart as it pumps blood to the body. Reducing heart burden lessens the heart muscle's demand for oxygen, and further helps to prevent angina in patients with coronary artery disease.

How should I take this medicine?

Take diltiazem tablets by mouth. Follow the directions on the prescription label. Swallow the tablets with a drink of water. Take diltiazem tablets on an empty stomach, at least 1 hour before or 2 hours after food. Do not significantly increase grapefruit juice intake while taking this drug, or avoid grapefruit juice if possible. Take your doses at regular intervals. Do not take your medicine more often then directed. Do not stop taking except on your prescriber's advice.

What special precautions should I follow?

Before taking diltiazem,

* tell your doctor and pharmacist if you are allergic to diltiazem or any other drugs.
* tell your doctor and pharmacist what prescription and nonprescription medications you are taking, especially heart and blood pressure medications such as beta-blockers, digoxin (Lanoxin), quinidine (Quinaglute, Quinidex), and diuretics (water pills); carbamazepine (Tegretol); cimetidine (Tagamet); cyclosporine (Neoral, Sandimmune); fentanyl (Duragesic); medications to treat depression; medications to treat glaucoma (increased pressure in the eye); theophylline; and vitamins.
* tell your doctor if you have or have ever had heart, liver, or kidney disease.
* tell your doctor if you are pregnant, plan to become pregnant, or are breast-feeding. If you become pregnant while taking diltiazem, call your doctor.
* if you are having surgery, including dental surgery, tell your doctor or dentist that you are taking diltiazem.

Drug Interactions

Diltiazem slows heart electrical conduction, and can cause a dangerously slow heart rate in patients with existing electrical conduction disease of the heart. Concurrent use of diltiazem with a beta blocker (another class of medications that slow heart rate) can occasionally cause profound heart slowing. Diltiazem can aggravate heart failure and cause excessive lowering of blood pressure.

Administration of diltiazem with digoxin can increase digoxin blood levels. Therefore, blood levels of digoxin are usually monitored to avoid toxicity. Similarly, concurrent administration of diltiazem with an anti-seizure medication carbamazepine (Tegretol) can increase blood levels of the seizure medication, and occasionally lead to toxicity. Concurrent administration of cimetidine (Tagamet) interferes with the liver breakdown of diltiazem, and significantly increases diltiazem blood levels. Therefore, cautious dosing is necessary when both medications are administered. Safety in children has not been established.

Pregnancy

Generally, diltiazem is avoided in pregnancy.

Nursing Mothers

Generally, diltiazem is avoided in nursing mothers.

Side Effects

Side effects are generally mild and transient. Diltiazem can cause difficulty breathing or wheezing as a result of worsening heart failure. It can cause dizziness, weakness or fainting because of slow heart rate or low blood pressure. Other side effects include swelling of the lower extremities, rash, headache, and constipation. Diltiazem can also cause mildly abnormal liver tests that are generally reversible with discontinuation of the medication.
