You know those session where things dont go as planned, well we had one of those last night. The session was a mixture of Monty Python with a sprinkle of Carry on Fantasy Roleplay and that’s probably as best as I can put it.

For the sake of this post I will try and write the session report as best as I can but I will put in a few examples of where the adventure took the turn for the chaotic. Seriously anybody else in my group want to write this one?...

Holy Balls, have any of you tried to get extra sets of the Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay dice recently? Its not easy!

I'm trying to get back into Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay, I purchased the three new books and I thought I would pick up some extra dice for my group.

Honestly, it would be easier to come up with a plausible reason to watch Hollyoaks than find these dice sets.

This was the first session and everybody was up for trying out the new Deathwatch system. So when the time came Chef boldly volenteered for the first session and stepped behind the DM screen.

This weekend I played Arkham Horror on the recommendation of one of my readers. And I have to say that I am not disappointed.

Arkham is under attack from multiple dimensions. Portals are being ripped open all over the city, spewing out corrupted evil monsters and other unmentionables who wander around the streets driving the locals mad and killing anyone who stands in their way...

Why we must encourage everyone to play more games.

I recently got together with a group of old school friends. They aren’t ‘traditional’ gamers but I thought it’d be fun to try out the new cooperative game from Matt Leacock – ‘Forbidden Island’.

As I was reading out the rules, one of the guys, Richard, said ‘you’ve got to be a pretty sad kind of person to make up this kind of game. Hasn’t he got more exciting things to do with his time?’. I immediately leapt to Matt Leacock’s and all other games designers defence. An outrageous comment. After a forthright discussion, we continued the game.

So after spending the £200+ pounds on our new tent it was great to get away for the weekend and fill my lungs with some fantastic fresh air.....queue the hay fever, bugger.

So my fiancee had one goal this weekend which was to beat me at three of my own games during the holiday. She has been having some great fun telling everyone that she has beaten me in all the new games I have purchased recently. Now I can see why she does not like playing my games.....Losing SUCKS!

My gaming group has been playing Dark Heresy every fortnightly now for about a year. My character started out as quite a normal tech priest but over time he has become more personal to me than any character I have ever had before. We have been through the bad ( and seeing as it is Dark Heresy ) and the even worst together but have come out stronger in the end. This is something that I love, that personal connection, and also where the fourth edition of Dungeons and Dragons has lost its appeal for me.

Brains!.....Brains!...... etc..... etc..

I was going through my game collection this week and came across Zombies!!! by Twilight Creations. "I have not played this in a while" I thought so out it came and on the game table it went. Then I remembered why it was collecting dust. We even started to helping each other to win because we wanted the pain to end.

Zombies, guns and tile placement what can go wrong you ask yourself. Well as it turns out there isn't enough meat on the bones, excuse the pun, to warrant a game that can last for up to an hour.

Throwing my spitfire into a tight turn I anticipate that my enemy’s next move will bring his plane into my aircrafts arc of fire. With total control of the aircraft I release small bursts from my twin linked machine guns as the enemy flies through my kill zone. Smoke billows from the back of his aircraft and I start to plan my next manoeuvre, this time he will not get away so lightly.

That one statement pretty much explains how I feel about Wings of War. Not since I was a little kid holding my arms out and running around the school playing field making engine noises have I had so much fun pretending to be a World War 2 fighter pilot.

The dark lord Rigor Mort-is has sent his minions out into the world to do his bidding. The only problem, they forgot to do it, and now the minions are in for an ass kicking. Who will get the blame? Who can think fast and pass the buck? Who will get their masters withering stares? Who will end up in the Dungeon for torture practice?

This game had been sitting at the back of my gaming cupboard for quite a while and I was able to get it to the table last week. What I found was that this little tiny box of cards contain a massive amount of laughter and fun for everybody in my gaming group. So much fun in fact that I shouted myself to a sore throat in just 1 hour.

A easy method for the removal of paint from miniatures.

WARNING - this is a messy business, so if your about to do this in front of your better half you need to send them out of the room now. Also its a good idea after your done to clean the sink and the surrounding area BEFORE anyone else in the house sees it! (your going to be amazed how far that paint can go once you start giving the scrubbing some elbow grease).
