Terrific mock episode

While it is aesthetically not that good, it was a total success and yielded tons of info for me.

How to:

Improve lighting
Camera angle
Camera position/height
Sound levels
Where I need work:p
Plus things are still coming to me

I count it as a great rehearsal/test.

Unfortunately I can't improve image quality. It's an ancient analog camera that I'm converting to digital .AVI and that's just how it comes out, but it really only shows when you go full-screen.

I'm an introverted person, and the editing is really rough so it makes me look kinda creepy(at least I think so). I hope I don't end up as an "Internet Superstar" LOL.

Anyway here is the test/rehearsal I promised since I failed to have the show 100% done.

First (mock) show

I'm behind. I don't have everything I need, and haven't finished running all the tests to get everything under par.

But I don't want to disappoint anyone. I said I'd have it by the end of June, so I'm uploading a mock show test.

I know it's not the actual show, but it's close.

I'm converting the video as I type this.

I'll be sure to post it, when I'm finished editing. Hopefully in 2-3 hours.

I'm going ahaead with filming, even though I really don't have any CG stuff finished. All I have are the credits:P

Oh well, that stuff can be finished as the show continues. Besides, I'd just rush my butt off to get something done, only to just start redoing it immediately.

I've officially run out of extra money...for now.

I knew putting off the purchase of a new lapel mic would bite me in the butt.

As it is, I feel it is very much needed, so I'm going to buy it, even though I shouldn't be spending anymore.

After that though, I really can't spend any. Life gets in the way sometimes.

Well, I'll have more time to work on an Intro Clip that I haven't even started yet:P

I have to trudge through tutorials to do it though.

I'll also be looking into making a lower-third. I'd like a zippy animated one, but with my skills(or lack of) it will, no doubt, be static.

Well, as you can see, I can't even figure out how to do a simple thing like make the back ground transparent on my title graphic.

So please, anyone who knows how to do this in Corel Draw X4, I'd much appreciate it.

Fanboy Civil War & PSP Vs. DS Video

Mainstream video game fanboys have become soldiers. Soldiers for a branch of the video game armed forces. A sour militia of soldiers that don't care so much for fighting the good fight as for wanting to make themselves feel better by somehow convincing others, through force, that what they say is right.

The term "Fanboy" is garnering a strictly negative connotation faster than my grandmother can put away a stack of lemon cookies(and yes, that is fast).

Fanboys have found a comfort zone where they can all gather and agree and pat each other on the back and get, in part, that ego stroke they need. It comes at a price, however. This comfort zone happens to be them huddling together in designated corners of what ultimately is a civil war. A civil war that has no positive outcome. The only thing that could come out of it is a clear message of what gamers want in their products thus steering the companies to meet these expectations. But let's face it, there are far easier and better ways to get those results and without the risk of destroying yourselves(or in this case, the game industry).

Really though. I hardly see any major impact on the gaming world, created by these fanboys. They're just gangs of ignorant people fighting in the streets while sane people walk by(carefully avoiding any flying objects).

So here is a present I found today. A Prizefight: PSP Vs. DS. More flame bait for never ending fanboy civil wars.

I thought I'd take some more time to talk about the shows frequency.

As of right now

there is no schedule.

I know, and many might say that's foolish, and maybe it is. Who am I to argue that point?

Here's a breakdown of how I have been handling show tasks.

Pick title/secure domain name
Purchase software & equipment
Create title graphic
Design/decorate set
Create video intro

Between all of this, I've worked on the site, created accounts at various online video communities, and miscellaneous web stuff.

For the most part, that list held true. I deviated slightly. I still need to:

Finish title graphic: this is almost done, as you can see in an older post.
Design set: This hasn't even been started yet. But there won't be a lot to do. It's looking good for late June. I also still need better lighting and the lapel mic. I swear I've procrastinated until the end with purchasing that mic.
Video intro is problematic for me.(hint hint- anyone wanna help?) I have a great title program that's not too hard to use, but takes a lot of patience. The other part of that problem is that I have nothing storyboarded. No ideas! I'm picking out some nice theme music that is going well. All I have to do is go through a huge list of production clips and pick the one I like-easy.

When the show actually kicks off, I'll be doing a lot of time-budgeting and bug testing

Oh yes. There will be bugs!

Also, like I said, I have no schedule. So here's the deal:

The show is based around reviewing DS accessories, which(as of now) I get infrequently. I have already some that I just received. That's one show. I also already have a few things that I could use to build a couple more shows around. That's 3 shows right there.

[Edit: I've also got a couple items pre-ordered that are set for a June release(when in June? You got me.)]

I'm going to film, edit, film, edit. So as soon as the first show is done and uploaded for your viewing pleasure, I will begin filming the next. I want to gauge how long it takes me to edit and upload, and keep an eye on viewer response. These two things should help me determine a more solid release schedule.

So I couldn't wait and wanted to show you the title graphic so far. This will change considerably, but not through replacing elements. Mostly a lot of tweaking needs done with sizing, positioning, and spacing of all the elements.

I think it's coming along great and can't wait until it's finished.

About show frequency

I have not worked out a schedule. This was intentional. The exact length of each episode and how frequently new shows come out will be something I left to natural evolution.

I'm just going to experiment with segments, and also see how long(on average) it takes me to edit a show, plus a lot of my own funds have gone and will continue to go into it, so it's a big drain on my resources right now.

Logo is on its way

I've sent it off, it may be about 4-5 days, I'm guessing, to see a finished version, and a couple additional days, if there's any revisions to be made.

I still haven't ordered the lapel mic. I'll get around to it in the next week or so. I'm not worried about it.

The big thing is turning out to be making the intro. I've decided to wait until the logo is finished and just use it. The initial intro is looking like it's going to be rather simple. Maybe just the logo flying in with a soundbyte playing. Overall just a few seconds.

RSS Trouble

I discovered a problem getting my RSS feed set up. Feedburner isn't reading blogger correctly. No doubt due to my custom domain name. I don't know exactly what's wrong, so I'll have to track that down before I can fix it.

Logo design

I found a logo designer and will contact them soon. Hopefully it will be a smooth process of submitting my main sketch with info on colors, audience, etc... and then going through only one or two revision sessions to get the final design.

I want to try a logo built around a plan where all parts of it mean something: The colors I choose, any textures/skins, that kind of thing.
