CHARGE: 1) Investigate and document the current state of ISU Library serials holdings data for both print and electronic titles; define areas where serials holdings data is lacking; determine whether non-paid serials should be included; collect examples illustrating the variety of holdings data formats; consider the impact upon all related applications (Horizon, OCLC, Ingenta, Serials Solutions, etc.). 2) Investigate and analyze recognized standards for serials holdings; create a “pros and cons” analysis of the various standards. 3) Propose solutions that address the documented problems with serials holdings; include a “pros and cons’ analysis of the solutions; if appropriate, recommend a single solution to be implemented. 4) Recommend workflow to implement the solution(s); identify and/or work units involved. Make recommendations on how to prioritize implementation, e.g., what categories of serials should be addressed first to maximize the benefits for the end user or to minimize the staff time required for conversion/creation of data.
