Free Child Portrait Sessions in Sittingbourne or Ashford

Dual Focus Photography are pleased to be offering free child portraits, throughout 2012, in either Ashford or Sittingbourne (alternate months). Our prints start from only £12 for a 7x5, we offer books, collages, framed and un-framed prints as well as ebooks, for those who have an ipad or iphone.

Here's a selection of our recent child portraits, these are all studio style sessions, with our high key white lasolite high lite large lightbox. We can photography families up to 5 members, bigger groups we would urge to have a mobile lifestyle session instead.

I love photographing children, I like to make them laugh and help them relax, catching natural smiles and emotions, rather than always false smiles. Although its not always easy, we are programmed to smile infront of a camera from a very young age.

We offer 5 appointments on each date, and sessions are by appointment only, so bookings need to be made with us in advance to secure a session. There really is no catch, there's no obligation to buy any prints. What happens is, after your hour session, we email you a link and password, for a private gallery within our website, and you can browse your images at your leisure. When you are ready, you can either buy directly from the site if you like, or by contacting us directly.

We keep the albums on our site for a fixed period of time, and will contact you, to make sure you are finished with it, before deleting it. We do keep electronic files for 3 years, should you ever need a reprint, etc.

We are both really friendly and approachable, I am CRB checked with KCC, as I am also a youth worker with Kent Youth Service.

If you have a newborn baby, and don't feel able to commit to a studio portrait session, we do mobile lifestyle sessions, ideal for new mums, as your session takes place in the comfort of you own home, this also works well for the maternity portrait sessions.

This post is all about our fur babies :-)

We have 4 in total, 2 cats (Maizie and Alfie - both 4 years old), Maizie is black and white and quite fluffy and Alfie is ginger and apricot with lovely amber eyes. They aren't really brother and sister, as they are 6 weeks apart in age.

Mia, is our little Norfolk Terrier. She's nearly 1 1/2 and is such a little cutie.

She's only tiny, about the same size as a Yorkie. But she has a big personality, and I think she really thinks she's scrappy-doo :-)

Now Benson, was my wedding present. He's now almost 6 months old. He's a Cairn Terrier/Border Terrier Mix, and he's a little mischief maker. We should have called him Dennis!!! He's into everything, and has chewed, EVERYTHING, the lady said as we took him home, we'd certainly know we had him, as he's such a character, and she's been so right. He gets a little travel sick, but I think that he's growing out of that.

He really has suffered with teething, and we don't think we noticed Mia chew anything when she was his age.

This top photo, is when he was only 10 weeks old (just after we got home from honeymoon, we picked him up the next day). The bottom 2 photos, were taken just a few weeks ago.

These photos were taken of them both out in the snow yesterday, which was the first time Benson has ever seen snow before. He just wanted to eat it. Mia doesn't like it and was leaping around as it was up to her belly, bless her.

The snow as about a foot deep here in Washford Farm, Ashford, Kent.

I love the effect of using a snoot and controlling the contrast of the images via the F stop on my camera.

I recently went on a course in Maidstone and was thrilled with the dramatic images I took during the course

Times and fashions are changing, and who really reads through a guest book, more than once? It gets put in a memories box, and forgotten about until they have a tidy up in the loft!

They can now have their favourite engagement image printed in a quality frame with a wide single or double mount, in black or white, take the glass out for the wedding, so guests sign within the confines of the actual frame, pop the glass back in after the wedding, and hang it on their wall at home.

They are also a lovely idea for special birthdays or Anniversaries.

We think they are such a great idea, we are actually having one for our own wedding next month, as we've just had our engagement session with our Wedding Photographer.

The Wedding of Amy & Ryan at Eastwell Manor, Ashford, Kent

We met Amy and Ryan a little while ago, whilst Amy was expecting Frankie.

They asked us to photograph their wedding, as well as have a Tiny Tots Package, starting with a Maternity Session, then Newborn, and we are due to go back later this year for his final session.

The weather did not look good the morning of Amy & Ryan's big day, but luckily, the black clouds passed over with only a little light drizzle. Eastwell Manor was a beautiful venue.

Amy's dress was beautiful, and Ryan and his Groomsmen looked very smart and little Frankie looked so cute in his matching outfit.

Amy arrived, with her attendants and on the arm of her Dad.

The ceremony was outside, as they had hoped and planned, thanks to the weather having a change of heart at the last moment,

They are a lovely couple, and were supported by their close friends and family.

We managed to come back out after their meal and take some couple portraits.

We really enjoyed being part of their big day, and are so pleased they enjoyed their well deserved honeymoon.

Let down by Camera Lens Hire Company

We tried to hire an extra lens for the wedding we are photographing tomorrow, www.camerent.co.uk, but they phoned up late last night, to let us know the lens had arrived back from the previous client broken, and they had no other appropriate lenses to give us an an alternative.

This has left us in a real fix, as we are photographing a wedding tomorrow and are both doing Wedding Prep sessions first, me with the lovely Bride and Kevin with the lovely Groom.

We've had no choice but to go and buy an extra lens today, from Jessops!!!

Am very disappointed, as this was the first time we've tried to hire a lens, and I don't think we will bother in future.

We were asked to photograph a wedding for a wedding for a lovely couple, who are childhood sweethearts. They are so besotted with each other and so endearing.

They took advantage of an engagement/pre-wedding portrait session that took place at their venue a few months ago.

The 2 little flower girls and maid of honour looked gorgeous in their green dresses.

Donna's dress was stunning, the flash and sunlight really made the crystals sparkle.

As always, a great honour and pleasure to be apart of their big day.

Fiona & Richards Wedding - Hythe Imperial Hotel, Hythe

We recently photographed a wedding for a very sweet couple, at Hythe Imperial Hotel, in Hythe, Kent.

We had their engagement/pre-wedding portrait session in the area as well, which went really well and we took some lovely photos, and all got to know each other a little better, which really does help on the big day and reflect in the photos taken.

We photographed their day from Groom Arrival to a Mock cut of the cake, before they sat down for their Wedding Breakfast, but we had plenty of time to capture a full and varied selection of images for them and their coffee table album.

Everyone was so friendly and willing to have their photos taken. This fellows all look rather dashing, and made a wonderful images which made the album.

Fiona and one of her sisters decorated the cake, and had a beautiful Willow Tree figurine as their cake topper, which was a lovely and original touch we thought.

Fiona has a pair of beautiful shoes, that we just had to make a feature of for a photo and her dress was so floaty and full, it looked lovely all laid out like this.

It was a real pleasure to be a part of their day, and hope they treasure their album, DVD Slideshow and prints for many, many years to come.

The Wedding of Sam & Paul - All Saints Church, St Mary's Bay, Kent

Sam and Paul have been friends of ours for roughly 2 years, Clair and Sam having met through a wedding forum website.

We photographed their wedding from Bride Preparation, then onto the Groom and his Groomsmen enjoying a game of darts and a pint or two, before moving onto the Church to capture Sam's arrival.

We photographed the wedding service, and then moved on to their Reception Venue at Lydd Golf Course, where our official duties ended and we became regular wedding guests and enjoyed the wedding breakfast and reception.

The weather wasn't really on our side though and Sam's veil was at times vertical, as it was very windy. However, we captured all the group and couple shots, before heading in for the speeches.

Not one to put the camera away, we did photograph the cutting of the cake, first dance and general reception events.

A lovely day was had by all, and they then went off onto a lovely honeymoon.

We wish them all the very best for the future.

Ann Marie & Gary's Wedding - Bromley Civic Centre

We photographed a lovely wedding, for Ann Marie & Gary, at the Bromley Civic Centre, Bromley, Kent.

We met Ann Marie when she came along to one of our portrait sessions, and she then booked us for her wedding.

We arrived to capture her Bride Preparation, along with her bridesmaids and other attendants. Whilst her sons were with their Dad, and they all arrived at the venue in a limo.

Once everyone in the Bridal Party were ready, we went out into the beautiful gardens for some group shots before the car arrived to first take the Bridesmaids and then came back for Ann Marie & her Uncle.

The whole wedding party were really friendly and happy to be photographed, and it was a rather large number of guests. But the setting was perfect for large group shots, so all went smoothly.

Once all the group shots have been taken, we like to spend 10-15 minutes just with the Bride and Groom, to capture some intimate portraits of the 2 of them, in privacy. Normally this works well when guests have a reception drink after the service.

We then caught them both before the got into the car to make their way to the reception, in the beautiful car.

Everyone had such a lovely day, and as always, it was a real priviledge to be a part of their big day.

Dual Focus Photography loves the new Wedding Signature Boards

We have been offering pre-wedding/Engagement Portrait Sessions for our brides and grooms for a while now, as we can really see the benefit of them, not only for us, but also our couples. We like to have these outside, at their wedding venue if at all possible, or a location of their choice.

Its not just about selling more photos, although of course, that’s a bonus.

We get to know them and build a rapport with them, that does help the big day run more smoothly, not only are they more relaxed, they have already worked with us, informally, they've seen photos of themselves, taken by us, they trust us more and tend to rely on us to guide them through their day and offer advice.

We do show them a few key ways we will ask them to stand on the day, but now, not only all that, we can now offer a print from their portrait session as a signature board for their wedding.
