Damian Marley ft. Stephen Marley - All Night

2017-06-21T06:55:00.001-07:00

Both Damian Marley and Stephen Marley makes this, "All Night," a truly blessed experience. The brothers balance and complement one another in a song that goes on in a beautiful beat. The funny lyrics deserved to be written in full:

It's alright
Said she wants my loving all night
When she get it she'll be alright
Said she wants my loving all night
When she get it she'll be alright
Well, now she call me on the phone
and said she's home alone
And she wants me to come over
and make her house a home
Well, I gave it to her once
and I liked how she responds
Well, now I'm in trouble, yeah
Said she wants my loving all night
When she get it she'll be alright, all night
Said she wants my loving all night
When she get it she'll be alright
It seems she need to oil her spine
Tell all a gyal toast bread can't build di putty gold mine
Need all di doctor fish with di essential slime
She tell me she want to signal the plane 'n time mi want slow wine
Turn on di HBO she want fi watch 'Showtime'
Give her di cordless microphone, she want di one with line
Seem like me and this young gyal, ya just can't combine
So it's sour like lime, running it down the line,
Mr. Muffin one time
Said she wants my loving all night
When she get it she'll be all right, all night
Said she wants my loving all night
When she get it she'll be all right
She call mi pon di I 95
How mi ah tek so long, she ah wonder which car mi drive
Tired fi listen album now and she want me live
Tell me she want fi come, knock her out till she can't revive
So, ah so mi planet and di stars align
She tell me she want me, know which part her hills and valley dem join
Seh she want me ride her like a Ferrari sign
Put appointment aside
Nothing can't compromise fi di vibes I provide, bim
It's alright She wants my loving all night
When she gets it she's all right
She wants my loving all night
I should no make no physical contact
Tell her fi hold it down and still she just can't quiet
Seh mi take her up and turn her maniac
Tellin' me dat I compliment her natural habitat
Well, it seem like she deaf or she blind
Want come step inna mi life, when time she deh far behind
Want mi play her rhythm till di tape want rewind
And she nah watch no time and she just nah resign
Till she see the sun shine, okay...

Rage - Inward Rasta

2017-06-14T00:14:00.001-07:00

Range sings about judging one based on outside appearance in "Inward Rasta." In an interview. Range (real name Shana Blair McCormack) said, "The song is based on a mixture of perspectives, both on my own extended family structure as well as friends who practice and believe in the faith of the whole life, history and culture of Rastafarianism. The whole concept stems from living in a world where one is not judged or segregated based on what society expects as it relates to practices, beliefs or religion."

"... I'm not my hair,

Don't you judge me,

I'm a Rasta inside..."

"...I'm a Nubian goddess,
Hear me chanting,
Don't care what Babylon has to say..."

"...Me no go about the norms of this society,
And the ignorance they teach,
Take me to the world of Marcus Garvey,
Liberate your mind..."

You will love this sweet dub and you will play it over and over again.

So Much Things to Say - Bob Marley (Cover by Cosima)

2017-06-09T00:31:00.002-07:00

Covers are never featured on this blog, but this one is an absolute exception. Bob Marley's "So Much Things To Say" is one of his best works but only those who are his real fans will know the lyrics word-for-word and even fewer will understand its true meaning.

Cosima renders the words out one at a time... anyone listening to her beautiful cover version will finally be able to understand why we all love The Legend.

Lyrics (Bob Marley version):

...Eh! But I'll never forget no way

They crucified Jesus Christ

I'll never forget no way

They stole Marcus Garvey for rights ho-ooh!

I'll never forget no way

They turned their back on Paul Bogle, Hey!

So don't you forget (no way) your youth

Who you are and where you stand in the struggle...

...But spiritual wickedness in high and low places

So while they fight you down Stand firm and give Jah thanks and praises...

... 'Cause I and I no expect to be justified

By the laws of men, by the laws of men Oh, true they have found me guilty

But brooh, through Jah proved my innocency...

...Oh, when the rain fall, fall, fall now

It don't fall on one man's housetop

Remember that, when the rain fall It don't fall on one man's housetop...

... I and I no expect to be justified

By the laws of men, by the laws of men

Hey through God to prove my innocence

I told you wicked think they found me guilty...

...So much things to say, rumor about

They got the rumor without humor

They don't know what they're doin', yeah...

Chris Martin's "Pirate of The Caribbean" is one smooth melodious ecstasy. From start to finish you will have the flow of the Caribbean going through you... even if you've never been there. The historical throwbacks and references combine with swashbuckling of today to give you an image of how smooth he must be as he "pillages the villages..."

"...This is not my village am just visiting

Am just pillaging the villages

I see two diamonds that I want

I know they gonna give it up

Beautiful girls are my treasure

Looting their heart is my pleasure...

... Yea am a pirate

Pirate of the Caribbean

And I'm as sharp as a blade...

... Me slicker than Jack Sparrow

Me rougher than Blackbeard

A my style dem borrow

From Henry Morgan days

Out a Port Royal weh the ship dem dock

Dem know a trouble from the sail dem block

Worst when dem see the skull and bone pon dat

From the gal dem mat

Man ago launch attack

Am a pirate...

... Pirate of the Caribbean

Sail across the seven seas

My riches goes to infinity

All these girls are in love with me

My crew will never switch

Am the captain and this so..."

Stephen Marley gives us "Made In Africa" which will make you proud of being African - or want to be one. The words touch on each generation from ancient to date and on into the future.

"...Oldest human bones found in Ethiopia...

... Africans were the first builders of civilization...

...Ships that sail to distant places
Robbed us of our rising worlds
History says that you've betrayed us
Talking of the Gods you serve
Hear the rambling in the sky
Tears that our fore fathers cry
And today we're still in chains
Take the shackle from our minds...

...Our children must be taught, of Africa
The science and the art, Africa...

...Educate yourself, Africa
To liberate yourselves, Africa
Keep your heads up high
No more will we cry

Beautiful are thou, Africa
A legend have to bow, Africa..."

2017-05-19T03:31:00.000-07:00

"Well you done done me and you bet
I felt it I tried to be chill but you're so hot I melted...

...Well open up your mind and see like me
Open up your plans and damn you're free
Look into your heart and you'll find love love love love
Listen to the music of the moment people dance and sing
We are just one big family And it's our God-forsaken right to be loved loved loved loved loved...

...So I won't hesitate no more, no more It cannot wait I'm sure
There's no need to complicate
Our time is short This is our fate, I'm yours...

...I've been spending way too long checking my tongue in the mirror
And bending over backwards just to try to see it clearer
But my breath fogged up the glass
And so I drew a new face and I laughed
I guess what I been saying is there ain't no better reason
To rid yourself of vanity and just go with the seasons
It's what we aim to do
Our name is our virtue...

...But I won't hesitate no more, no more
It cannot wait I'm yours
Well open up your mind and see like me
Open up your plans and damn you're free
Look into your heart and you'll find the sky is yours
So please don't please don't please don't
There's no need to complicate 'Cause our time is short
This, oh this, this is our fate, I'm yours..."

"So,

So you think you can tell

Heaven from Hell,

Can you tell a green field

Blue skies from pain

A smile from a veil?

From a cold steel rail?

Did they get you to trade

Do you think you can tell?

Hot air for a cool breeze?

Your heroes for ghosts?

Hot ashes for trees?

A walk on part in the war

Cold comfort for change?

Did you exchange

For a lead role in a cage?

Swimming in a fish bowl,

How I wish, how I wish you were here

We're just two lost souls

The same old fears Wish you were here..."

Year after year,

Running over the same old ground.

What have we found?

"I just can't live without you no, no way.

Now many men will try to tell you bad things about me oh baby let them try I

Know one day their lust will die.

And there will be no cause or reason for you to doubt me.

Cause what I feel is real.

The love that I have for you is yours signed and sealed.

Now I'm building my whole wide world around you.

But baby here's what my request from you.

"Baby don't take my kindness for weakness. (Please) don't take my

Sweetness for weakness. No baby don't take my kindness for weakness. No, no

Baby cause our future depends on you. And no one else will do

"And every breath I take, I'll take another one for you. Because I want you in

My life, now baby.

And every song I sing, I'll be singing with feelings about you.

With feelings of love so pure and true.

There is no way I can live my life without you baby.

But this I desire from you...

"...Bridge: I'll do almost anything you ask me to.

Always willing to set aside the tribulations you put me through.

And people will criticize,

That you and me, they don't think that it's right and everything that I do

They are willing and able to publicize.

I got all bets on you and waiting to finally receive my prize.

No matter how men rule our future is growing inside of you.

That was a moment I never will forget

Love was at first sight, and you came walking

through the pale- pale moonlight..."

"...How many times I told you I love you

But now you want say that we are through

What more can I do?

What more can I say to you? Now you're gone..."
