Super Bowl Sunday. Network televisions biggest event of the year. Dozens of cameras cover every angle of the game, from close-ups of the coaches and players, to replays of key elements of the game. Of course, sideline cameras cover not just the players but also the fans in the stands.

All of the camera shots are fed into a truck parked in the stadium parking lot. Their technicians and producers scrutinize each shot to see which of the pictures best cover the action on the field. The decisions are split second. The networks depend on these seasoned technicians to make the right choices, which is why they are paid big bucks for their work.

Earlier this year, during the coverage of the 2007 Super Bowl Game, for some strange and unexplainable reason, one of the cameramen who was covering the fans in the stands focused in on a young lady wearing a black t-shirt that read, “Fxxk the (and mentioned one of the teams by name). The shot lasted for only a second or two, however in order to be broadcast on national television, it went through at least two technicians. First, the cameraman who took the picture, and second, the producer in the truck who chose to broadcast it on the air.

Parents around the country were shocked that such a word could appear on network television, especially on a most-watched event like the Super Bowl. National television, naturally, didn’t make a big issue of the f-word broadcast. Except for a few sports writers, print journalists didn’t comment on it at all. The Federal Communications Commission seems to be unaware that such a broadcast “snafu” happened. But the American Family Association and Tim Wildmon, the founder, have collected thousands of signatures on a petition demanding government response to the broadcast of the offensive word.

Parents are saying it is bad enough the commercials on network TV’s biggest show of the year can border on vulgar; but by televising the f-word, didn’t the NFL and the network step over the line on this one? Further, parents’ wonder is this symptomatic of current trends in network television?

Opinion research polls would seem to show that the American television viewing public thinks it to be so.

The “not-so-conservative” newspaper,USA TODAY, recently published a Public Agenda poll that reports approximately 90% of parents allege TV programs are getting worse every year because of bad language and adult themes that are part of the programs in supposedly “family TV viewing times” between the hours of 8 and 10 pm. TV Guide did their own opinion study and reported 57% of today’s TV viewers think there is an increase “in offensive material on television lately”.

Can anyone say “Super Bowl T-shirt shot”?

The New York Times teamed up with Katie Couric’s network, CBS, and reported that 70% of Americans are worried that “popular culture – that is television, movies and music – is lowering the moral standards of the country.”

If all of this is true then the question begs, what do we do about it?

First, did YOU see the inappropriate word on the Super Bowl show? Wasn’t that just as offensive as the “costume malfunction” of a few Super Bowls ago? That case became a national morality issue. This one didn’t. Unlike Janet Jackson, the girl in the black t-shirt didn’t show anything except bad taste.

But the television network showed that word to us on their coverage of the Super Bowl. If you haven’t complained to the Federal Communications Commission in Washington D.C. by now, perhaps you should make your voice heard. The address to write is 1919
M Street NW, Washington D.C. 20554.

The networks and the NFL have mutually agreed that the half time show, because of the Janet Jackson fiasco, should be broadcast on a 3 or 4 second delay. Therefore, just in case something untoured should happen, offensive material can be deleted before it hits the network airwaves. For example, The Rolling Stones lyrics during last year’s broadcast were edited. Maybe with the experience of this year’s Super Bowl show, the entire program should be put on a 3 or 4 second delay so offending t-shirts can be edited out of the broadcast too.

One final poll to ponder. Morality in the Media published a poll in 1998 that showed 59% of adult Americans thought the FCC needed to work harder to enforce the broadcast indecency law. It is now almost a decade later. A supposedly conservative administration has taken the helm of our government. Most of us believe they should be more effective in implementing conservative values we as parents in this country cherish. And, if that is in fact so, then all of us should demand the FCC start shoveling out the network television barn and begin by cleaning up the coverage of the biggest show in television, the Super Bowl Show.

While detailing how the UN has gradually morphed their mission over the past 50 years, transforming themselves from being an international forum devoted to maintaining global peace to an organization devoted to global governance and forums covering a broad range of social issues, I learned about a great organization called CFACT – the Committee for a Constructive Tomorrow. They are part of the National Center for Public Policy Research in Washington, DC.

Never heard of CFACT? Of course you haven’t. These are the researchers who know that global warming is “silly science”. They spend a lot of time and energy repudiating all the shrill claims of the energy restrictors who have bought into the greenhouse gas propaganda. No, they haven’t been financed to make a big budget movie about global warming like the guy who invented the Internet. Instead, they try to find news editors – and there are only a handful of them – who will give them a hearing and listen with an open mind to the truth about greenhouse gases.

In case you missed it, last November the UN staged another of their Global Warming Conferences, held at the crossroads of the world, in Nairobi, Kenya. This is a particularly troubling place for the UN to stage such a conference. First, the mainstream media doesn’t usually have news bureaus operating on a daily basis in Kenya. Any mischief of the globalists happened while the rest of the world wasn’t watching. Second, Kenya is one of the developing nations that would be most harmed if the world ever adopted the Kyoto Protocols that the UN is demanding.

At this conference, we learned one important fact the mainstream media isn’t telling anyone. The European Union, who with great flourish, adopted the Kyoto Protocols, are on target to miss them by a mile. That’s right. They promised when they signed onto this nonsense that they would reduce emissions by 8% below 1990 levels by 2012. Get this. From 2000 to 2004, emissions in the EU have actually increased by 9%. Hear that tidbit of fact anywhere in the mainstream media? I haven’t either.

The EU emissions are up 9% — and America, which has never ratified Kyoto – saw our CO2 emissions rise only 1.7% during that same time.

And get this, China and India, which are exempt from the Kyoto Protocols, have increased their emissions by 11.2% and 22% respectively.

But back to Kenya and the big UN Global Warming conference of last November. CFACT was on hand passing out Kyoto Protocol Survival Kits containing items that might be useful for everyone if the world ever takes the UN seriously and adopts all of their emissions controls.

First, there was an instruction sheet on how to build a fire. With Kyoto standards in place, heating and cooking, as modern man has come to know it, will no longer be practical. Electric cooking means generators that burn fossil fuel and that’s a no-no. Gas cooking is even more environmentally unfriendly, as you well know. Along with the instruction sheet for fire building, there was a handmade bow and drill that are used to start fires in the most primitive of cultures, or on TV survival shows.

Also in the kit, there was a hand fan, for those who now enjoy the cooling of air conditioning but who realize under Kyoto, air conditioning would be far too harmful to the environment and it would be another luxury we’d all have to sacrifice.

A balsa wood airplane would be The Kyoto Airlines of the future. Any emissions expert who buys into the shell game of global warming knows airplane emissions are polluting the atmosphere incredibly. Instead of jets, the world will be much better served with airplanes that glide and coast or fly with a propeller that we wind up with a rubber band.

And while all that is fun to think about, there is a very serious side to this entire concept of greenhouse gases and the environment.

The real tragedy of the global warming propaganda machine is they never tell the world about the developing nations like Kenya, Namibia, and Mozambique who are starved for electricity. Only 10% of the people of Sub Sahara Africa have something as basic as affordable electricity in their homes. Pastor Abdul Sesay, of Sierra Leone, was quoted at the UN Conference as saying, “How many more must go hungry and die before Western leaders understand that this is not a political game?”

Those on the ground in Third World Nations, where there is starvation and malnutrition, understand that without developing the basics of life for their people, they are mired in a world none of us would even like to visit.

Don’t buy into the propaganda. The European Union is very wealthy. Under the Kyoto Treaty, they can use all their wealth to purchase “pollution credits” from these small, African developing nations. So the EU will be able to live in luxury, the luxury to which we all have become accustomed, and these poor nations in Africa will be stuck in poverty, in another age, without the benefits of the modern conveniences that provide food, health and an opportunity for a better life.

I haven’t checked with them recently, but at the end of last year, the National Center for Public Policy Research still had a few left over Kyoto Protocol Survival Kits and they were offering them on a first come basis to anyone who wanted one. Look at the kits on their website at www.nationalcenter.org/KyotoSurvivalKit.html and get the truth about environmental issues at www.cfact.org.

Oh, one other thing in the kit I forgot to mention, two cups connected by string. That will be Kyoto Communications of the future. As the scientists from CFACT are fond of saying, “Now you know what strings are attached to all this nonsense”.

After receiving complaints that prostitution and robberies were frequently occurring in the immediate neighborhood, a police surveillance team was monitoring a strip club at 4:00a.m. They spot a car with some men acting suspiciously and attempt to stop and search the vehicle. The driver of the car attempts to elude officers and crashes into a police vehicle trying to flee the scene. Hails of bullets ring out and a young black man is killed.

Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, and all the usual suspects immediately call for a public press conference and denounce the killing as another senseless black tragedy. But when two black women came forward to complain of botched abortions at a large New Jersey clinic, the black leadership was nowhere to be found.

Twenty year-old Rasheedah Dinkins was left in a comatose stupor for more than four weeks after her procedure was performed at the Metropolitan Medical Associates abortion mill. Last week she was told she could not bear children for the rest of her life.

Silence from the black leadership of the area.

Now two more women have come forward voluntarily to report they too had been victims of botched abortions at the same clinic. Thirty-six year-old Gloria Mozas said she was misdiagnosed at the clinic. Her baby was developing partly in her fallopian tube and partly in the uterus, a condition known as heterotypic pregnancy. Her doctor, Nicholas Kotopoulos, told her she was not pregnant but required a D & C to remove dead tissue from a failed pregnancy. Mozas’ tubal pregnancy ruptured and she was rushed to a nearby hospital for life saving emergency surgery. She said she was not informed that Metropolitan was an abortion mill but thought it was a medical clinic. Now, she says, she is suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder.

The black leadership of the community called no press conference.

Then, twenty-three year-old Christina Ruvolo sought an abortion at the same clinic last May. Following the procedure, a visit to a nearby emergency room diagnosed Ms. Ruvolo received an “incomplete” surgery. Emergency surgery was necessary to remove the remainder of her baby. She has now filed a medical malpractice lawsuit against Dr. Kopoulos and another abortionist at the clinic, Dr. Keith Gresham.

Still, no press conference, no public statements, and silence from the community’s black leaders.

The clinic was closed last week and women, like Christina and Gloria, who are seeking their medical records, have been told they are not available because the abortion mill is no longer in operation.

I wonder if the community’s minority leadership only complains if they can make the police look bad when they perform badly and someone is injured or killed? However, when botched abortions are involved and a woman is critically injured or die, they seem to conveniently look the other way.

And where is Senator Clinton? She is always quick to race to the microphones when an incident bolsters her liberal beliefs? However, the Senator seems to be “Missing In Action” when a tragedy strikes but outside of her political agenda. What about Christy Todd Whitman? What about the feminist community in the area? Feminists, I guess, also believe it is a “woman’s right to choose”, but when she chooses . . . . and then suffers at the hands of incompetent doctors, why are they silent?

We all know the answers to all of those questions, don’t we? In a word – it is hypocrisy.
