[Video] The Colourist - Wishing Wells

2012-08-09T09:01:00.001+02:00

Orange County, USA. Pretty nice and gently indie pop by the Colourist. It's music to let go and feeling good. Also, of course, by the nature of the lyrics there is a lot of love in it. Cause, "Just follow what you fell". That's all! And now enjoy the music!

[Album] Saint Motel - Voyeur

2012-08-03T20:55:00.000+02:00

Los Angeles, USA. With sophisticated savvy and singularity, the Los Angeles quartet Saint Motel has built a formidable reputation on the back of inventive indie pop and wildly fun live shows. Mixing blistering pep with unique flair and rousing rhythms, Saint Motel's aural catharsis is pure bliss with a twist of cynical humor. Once pulled in by the pulsating and joyous melodies, delight can be found in the suprisingly avant-garde lyrical subject matter. Stories reveal themselves through thematic twists and turns with a narrative voice both subversive and sincere. We find our contemporary hero assessing the world through a lens of poetic contrasts -- running down the line of his modern concerns and realizing that a mangled face can be beautiful, that honest feedback can be as lethal as any weapon, and that one might be better off when he has nothing at all. With such honest motifs strung together by tongue-in-cheek notions, delivered with such charm, the band's intentions are often left open to interpretation. And so, what might be easily perceived as sexy with one listen, with another might seem mean-spirited or flatly perverse. That is the flair of Saint Motel's rapturous pop and the graceful dichotomy of its existence.

[MP3] The Orwells - Mallrats (La La La)

2012-08-02T18:21:00.001+02:00

Chicago, USA. Five seventeen-year-old boys - Mario, Grant, Henry, Dominick, and Matt - playing pig rude rock'n'roll music. With the airiness of their age they write songs about girls and America. In doing so, the Orwells sound makes fun and your body moving. They will release their first LP "Remember When" on August 7 via Autumn Tone Records. How terrific is that?

[MP3] Rah Rah - I Could Tell You I'm Sorry

2012-07-31T09:33:00.001+02:00

Regina, Canada. "Little Poems", the new 7" from expansive rock collective Rah Rah, is available since, Tuesday, June 12, via Hidden Pony Records. In promotion of the release of "Little Poems", the band had also put out the b-side track from the 7" single "Little Poems", titled "I Could Tell You I'm Sorry", which is also available for download on their website.

"Little Poems" gives fans a taste of Rah Rah's refined sound, and has been released in preparation for their upcoming full-length album "The Poet's Dead", which will be available September 25th digitally, and October 23rd physically.

For their upcoming LP "The Poet's Dead", Rah Rah have truly fine-tuned the essence of the band and refined the maturity of their sound. If Arcade Fire is musically informed by Springsteen, Rah Rah draws a musical footnote from Neil Young while weaving an endlessly impressive amount of contemplation and maturity into their heart-ontheir-sleeve songs. Lyrically, "The Poet's Dead" showcases some of the finest songwriting from the band and the strongest collective step forward to date.

But now enjoy the b-side track "I Could Tell You I'm Sorry".

[Stream] Bloc Party - Day Four

2012-07-30T22:33:00.001+02:00

London, England. Yeah! Bloc Party is back with their forthcoming album "Four". It will be released on 20th August this summer. Did you believe that they record an album that quickly after Kele decided to do a solo project? Well, DAT didn't. Indeed, DAT didn't believe that Bloc Party would never come back. But the London boys did and everybody could be this huge glad about it. The single "Day Four" seems to DAT really really good. We hope the album make us that happy like the others. DAT thinks, it will! Enjoy!

[MP3] Bear Mountain - Two Step

2012-07-29T18:51:00.001+02:00

Vancouver, Canada. It's amazing what friends can do for you. These days one of mine give DAT a hint. He just came back from beautiful East Canada and told DAT about this amazing band. Bear Mountain's electro/dance style blends syncopated bass lines and arpeggiated synth chords with live instrumentation and soaring vocals to produce a style all their own. Their approach to the traditional indie-pop genre is unmistakably fresh, and powerfully captivating.

Now you can enjoy their latest track "Two Step" and also a bonus track which is a amazing remix. Discover more on Bear Mountain's Soundcloud.

[MP3] Naked Feen - Noticed You Before

2012-07-28T19:03:00.001+02:00

Munich, Germany. Matthias (vocal, guitar), Ralph (guitar), Volker (bass), and Markus (drums) formed their indie pop formation NAKED FEEN in 2010. Their style could be described classic indie pop preciousness with visionary melodies, linear songwriting, and brilliant moments. Although the name Naked Feen gives you the impression of music and lyrics away of the reality, is there still a connection to daily grind moments.

The four Bavarian boys are addicted to be on stage and to play in front of a crowd. Thus, they did already a couple of great gigs in television (ON3 Südwild), radio (ego.fm - there you can listen to the live cut), and of course normal live gigs (e.g. Wohnheimtour 2011/2012 - Halls Tour 2011/2012).

If you missed these talented guys, you have still the chance to attend their gigs. Next concerts will be at Free & Easy at Backstage on 2nd August or at Cord on 9th August.

But now enjoy their tracks below and leave a comment!

[MP3 + Video] Zucchini Drive - Jaguar Sky

2012-07-28T17:27:00.001+02:00

Kortrijk, Belgium / London, England. Zucchini Drive, comprised of Marcus Graap and Tom De Geeter, has a knack for cooking up surprising music from unlikely ingredients. From their initial beginnings in 2002, the pair tackled the challenge of melding the lo-fi acoustic sounds of De Geeter and the buoyant electronic landscapes of Graap. The Duo has taken their contrasting backgrounds and geographical distances to create an unparalleled energy.

Working in remote locations Zucchini Drive has put together their latest project "No Food But Lots Of Weapons". Completely self-produced, this album is a combination of where the duo stands as artists and their take on a 2012 world.

Their first single, "Jaguar Sky", brings a set of strong vocals and a building energy to make for a great example of the Zucchini Drive's capabilities. This single is now accompanied by a music video that depicts the members performing against a city backdrop. The album, "No Food But Lots Of Weapons", will be available on September 25, 2012 via Marathon of Dope.

[Concert Review] Warpaint @ Freiheiz 2012

2012-07-23T09:58:00.000+02:00

Munich, Germany. In the big festival summer time, concerts in town are getting rare. Especially, the good ones. One of the magic live gig nights was on Thursday, 19th July. Four friendly shy American girls appeared on the stage. Warpaint makes the tepid summer evening to a evening DAT which all other attenders won't forget. But what was that amazing? In my eyes, drummer Stella Mozgawa did an remarkable job. Also, the guitar players Emily Kokal and Theresa Wayman who take over the main part of singing, have enchanting voices. Last but not least, Jenny Lee Lindberg - the bass player - was unfortunately handicapped and had to seat the whole evening on the stage. However, this case doesn't influence her bass play. In Summary, a goose bumps atmosphere and a memorable concert evening.

Check out the whole album "The Fool" below. So, you can feel a bit of this atmosphere Warpaint build up in the venue.

But they can't describe the awesomeness of the XX's tunes. The second album "Young Turk" will be released on 10th September, by the way. And that's still a long time to wait. So, click play and let us enjoy what we already have.

[MP3] The Danks - Automocar

2012-07-16T18:50:00.001+02:00

Charlottetown, Canada. Canadian quartet The Danks' debut full-length album Are You Afraid of The Danks is available in the U.S. today, via Hidden Pony Records.

Driven by small-town boredom and a severe distaste for contemporary pop, Are You Afraid of The Danks delivers a fistful of excitement with the follow-through of a wrecking ball in a Beverly Hills mansion.

The Danks are led by members Brohan Moore and Alec O’Hanley on guitars and vocals, and supported by Brian Murphy on bass and Adam Hindle on drums. The anti-workaday quartet have engaged in national tours with Hey Rosetta! and Two Hours Traffic, caused widespread wowing of festival patrons at both Pop Montreal and North by Northeast, and have graced Tokyo Police Club and Ted Leo with their blistering onstage presence. With cowboy capitalists sitting high on the Canadian bacon and the Buzzcocks approaching senior citizenry, The Danks propose an alternative economy, one that deals strictly in the currency of cool.

The group is currently in the studio recording their sophomore album with producer Jeff McMurrich (Fucked UP, Constantines, Owen Pallett).

[MP3] Black Pistol Fire - Long Tall Sally

2012-07-14T13:33:00.003+02:00

Toronto, Canada. The Canadian soul-rock duo features Kevin McKeown on guitar/lead vocals and Eric Owen on drums, who have been friends since kindergarten and began playing music together when they discovered a shared passion for rock and roll music in high school. The two relocated to Austin in 2009 and Black Pistol Fire was born.

While playing a local Austin hotspot, producer Jim Diamond (The White Stripes, The Von Bondies, Jon Spencer Blues Explosion) approached the band about recording together. Their LP, simply titled "Black Pistol Fire", was released in February 2011 in select record stores in North America, at live shows, and worldwide through iTunes. The LP garnered a positive critical response from publications such as the Austin Chronicle, Pop Music Matters, and the Houston Press.

The new album "Shut Up!" (released May 2012) is Black Pistol Fire's modern and fun blues-rock spin on Little Richard's signature soul sound.

[MP3] Afrobeta - Love Is Magic (Discotech Extended Remix)

2012-07-06T09:33:00.000+02:00

Maimi, FL, USA. Avant-dance duo Afrobeta have been tearing up dance floors for years, and they have made a splash yet again with the release of their latest mix tape, "Wig Party". Cuci Amador and Tony "Smurphio" Laurencio formed Afrobeta in 2006 as a way to share their mutual love of songwriting and dancing till 5 a.m.

Toronto, Canada. I can remember Dragonette's appearance about two years ago. DAT discovered the "Hello". DAT went to Bangkok and the track appeared in nearly every club. DAT came back to Germany and this track was suddenly in the charts, commercials and everybody went banana.

Now, the Canadians dropped the new track "Rocket Ship". It isn't that electro house bummer like "Hello". But it's very catchy. Another good track by Dragonette. Enjoy this electronica tunes and download it.

Berlin, Germany. Well, that's pretty amazing for DAT. Cause one member of UMA is really famous and DAT is a big fan. We talking about Florian Zwietnig who is the ex-member of Mediengruppe Telekomander. The Austrian electro punk rap combo closed their doors in February. Toronto, Canada. The electro popper Digits releases soon a new EP. Till this happens, we can enjoy a lot of tracks of Digits on his page. Interestingly, the now German-living artist gives away all his tracks for free. "Lost Dreams" is one example.
