Unfortunately, the booked bikes were not available due to over booking. Finally we had to be content with Xylo. I decided to ride the Fazer(Still going good). After a little health check up of the bike, we proceeded for another adventurous ride.

The roads were the high point of this trip. And it was the most relaxing part as well, as we had a driver. I plugged in my earphones, and continued cruising even though the fingers pained. But the visual treat makes you forget everything and keep going. Fellow riders keep wishing you luck and waiving at you. Keep you busy and make you smile all the while.

Just before the world's third highest motorable pass, Changla La (17500 ft), the roads get a bit bumpy and test your patience and skill. We took a break to witness the hard work our wonderful Army has put in. In places where we struggled to breathe, they not only survive, but also work hard to ensure that tourists have the best adventure of their lives. I read it on one of the road signs : A life time adventure for you is a daily routine for US(Indian Army).

Let me take a moment to thank The INDIAN Army- Its an honor that you guys serve the country, its a pleasure to drive on highest motorable passes of the world in extreme weather conditions. You guys make us proud. Keep up the good work. Double Thumbs Up.

I posed for a couple of clicks and moved ahead. The descent is not always easy, and I realized it the hard way. The road gets a little bumpy again as you start the descent. In a bid to move fast, I forgot to keep a check on my brakes. Just as I was getting into a comfort zone(dangerous thing to do), i hit a rough patch and before i could realize the bike was on the ground. Somehow I was safe, and avoided a fall. But the steep slope made me gather momentum and

Humpty Dumpty Had a great fall.

Thankfully, the damage was small. I rushed to the bike. Shit, the wiser was gone.

I didn't feel the pain initialy but then it set in. Another biker checked me and i signalled him to move on. I brushed off the dust and moved on, rubbing my knee and palm. Xylo was way behind. I drove almost 100 kms before i was asked to stop. Jyoti wanted to ride. I explained them my bit of story and quietly landed into the back seat of xylo. It was still paining.

Anshuman finally took his turn to drive the bike, and with the kind of experience he has, it was a cakewalk for him.

The mountains keep coming at you, and a variety of them : snow capped, dry, green, colourful. Horses, yaks and Pashmina goats are a common sight. They combine to give you the feel of a safari ride. We were smitten and enchanted with the first view of Pangong lake(14000 ft). Pangong is a long(150 kms), narrow trans boundary lake that mesmerizes the Indians as well as the Chinese. What seemed to be a small wetland, kept coming at us and never ended.

I could use numerous adjectives(Enigmatic, serene, tranquil….) and yet fall short of describing the beauty. We covered a good portion of the lake before we started to look for camping beside the lake. Sadly, the camps were booked, and we looked for a room, which was another good find.

So what do we do next after hot, delicious, boring maggi? Lets have little-little ;)

It was fun playing various indoor games : Raja Mantri Chor Sipahi, jack and the killer. The gods by then had turned on the stars, and the bonfire was in place too. What a sight! Almost everyone witnessed a "Falling star". Dinner was ready after another 30 mintues. It was time to hit the bed. And yes, My knee was still paining.

Witnessing a sunrise is a charm in itself, and coupled with Himalayan ranges and the beauty of Pangong makes you forget the pain. A walk by the Lake in the dawn is a must. Its breath taking to say the least.

After a filling breakfast(not that good on the tastebuds), it was time for some bollywood action alongside the lake. We went to the '3 Idiots' shooting location and spent an hour by the lakeside. Not to forget the odd thousand clicks.

The return journey was a peaceful one with no further adventures(vehicle breakdown, accidents) and was quiet one with everyone enjoying the scenic beauty. We reached Leh around 1600 hours, and the first thing I did was take the Safari for another round of check up. After much discussion and Jugaad options, we managed to get it done. By far the best jugaad with some brass welding around 2 iron pipes. The mechanic assured that it would go on for another 10000 kms.

The day ended with a nice dinner and some shopping. By far the most relaxing day of the journey. What do we do next? Nubra valley?(keeping in mind Safari's condition) or do we start the return journey and cover Sonemarg, Gulmarg and Dal lake? Shabba Khair!

Day 8(Leh-Kargil-Sonemarg)

330 kms

Fear knocked at the door. Faith answered. And lo, no one was there.

Probably starting the return journey was the best decision that we could have afforded. We started early to avoid another Pang. We booked Anshuman's bike(Well played!) to be transported to Chandigarh and he joined us on the way back(Little cramped for 4 people sitting on the back seat).

The return journey is always considered to be boring but not when you have a good company which include friends, family, nature, stunning views and a well maintained highway(NH-1). The magnetic hill, zanskar valley ought to amaze you. The shapes that mountains take in Moonland is a visual treat.

We drove and sang and danced. Many of us have seen it in movies(LOC, Lakshya),documentries, read about it in newpapers, but to actually visit the battleground made everyone sad(because we lost lives),happy(because we won),proud(because national flag still flies high and mighty) and ofcourse angry(for obvious reasons. Bastards).

We spent nearly 2 hours at the memorial, reading every letter that was displayed and every story that was being told. It was an emotional journey through time. The courage and valour at such extreme battle is no child's play. Stories about recapturing Tololing, Tiger hill, Batra top makes you happy whereas war photos, captured pakistani fighting gears is bound to bring a hatred for the cowardly act.

A walk through the memorial was our tribute to late Capt Vikram Batra, late Lt Manoj Kumar Pandey, Rifleman Sanjay Kumar and last but not the least grenedier Yogendra Singh Yadav and all the soldiers who served thier part in bringing glory to our motherland, India. Almost every eye welled up during the 2 hours that we spent.

It was already 1800 hours and we had another 130 kms to cover with zojila pass in between. The drive was not bad but testing. Really testing. Driving through Zojila pass after sunset was probably the toughest part of the journey. But slow and steady wins the race and we did manage to come out unscathed.

Finally we had Jhelum by our side and some greenry too, finally we reached Sonamarg ~ another visual treat.

Leh Diary - Day 4 And Day 5

Day 4 : D day( Keylong-Jispa-Darcha-Baralacha La- Sarchu - Pang)

200 Kms

17-Aug-2014

The best thing about life is that no matter how tasking the previous 24 hours were, it gives you an opportunity to set things right again. Empty roads for the first time in daylight was the highlight as I went back to my favourite seat in a car. Amit took the loyal Fazer and Anshuman joined us in Safari with thumping dance numbers. Shweta and shaily took turns to spread their wings on the bike and i was already awed.

After another dose of bread omlette and maggi at Darcha (11000 ft), we were ready to cruise.

I pressed the accelerator but it showed no sign of speed, changed gears and pressed again, still no sign of speed. So here it was, day 4's challenge, the Safari had surrendered and engine icon appeared on the speedometer panel. By now, I had realized that this aint gonna be easy. I pulled over immedietly, opened the bonnet. Engine was HOT!

Underestimating the gravity of the situation, we stopped for lunch at Sarchu (14000 ft). The engine refused to cool down.

With hope and courage, we resumed post lunch but had to pull over again after 4-5 kms. This time there was smoke coming out of the bonnet. This was the last nail in the coffin. No mobile network, no mechanics, not much of tool kit we were carrying, it was endless stretch of mountains and us. All we could do was look for help. But to whom? Patience was the key as we waited for half an hour.

Thankfully the angels arrived, Happy singh and company. Here i would take a pause to thank those wonderful souls. Punjabis are a gem.

"Oye ki hoya Paaji?"

"Paaji, Gaadi kharab ho gayi!"

And all of a sudden we were 10 people working on the machine. 4 more vehicles stopped, all of them Punjabis, offering help. Suddenly the grim faces were smiling. They helped and they moved ahead wishing us luck. Long live Sardars.

We decided to wait for another half an hour at the deserted place. Another platoon of local drivers offered help with stranger jugaad technologies(With a condom :P), but they messed it up, causing more damage. Stupid ignorant fellas. Another half an hour wait made us little confident(We had no other option, going back was out of scene) and we marched ahead.

Standing right infront of us were the dreadful Gata loops, the curvaceous, torturous and daunting 22 hair pin loops(16000 ft). Just when we thought we had it covered, panic struck. Shit! Not Again! Safari refused to buzz, and that too right in the middle of Gata loops. Nowhere to go(absolutely nowhere), we just prayed(We couldnt do much). And let me tell you, prayers in those region never go unheard, simply because you are at 17000 ft, much closer to the gods (So when in problem, remember the almighty). Another long wait made everyone restless. But "sabra ka fal meetha hota hai".

A paramillitary commander who left his job few years back was there to help us. Another hour passed as we struggled with the safari. By now the sun was behind the mountains and the temprature was dipping fast. In the end the Jugaad technology came to our rescue. The commando assured us that it would be fine and he would drive with us till Pang. Thank God.

I have no idea what others felt, but man I was scared. Refusing to take extra passengers (I asked Amit and Anshuman to take the bike) i marched ahead. Jai mata di!

Finally we reached the dreaded place of the tour- Pang (15000 ft)! With no other option but to halt, we decided to stay in a camp. Little did we know that it would be almost(not really) death by cold for few of us.

Such was the pressure drop and chill that people refused to sleep the whole night.

Amit-"ye mere life ka sabse tough raat hai, log yahan marne aate hain kya?"

Shweta-"Agony, shock, freaking cold, altitude sickness."

Shweta at 2:00 Am - "Chalo chalte hain yahan se, Anshuman ka Bike ja payega" (She had no idea how cold it was outside when she said this).

Somehow I was fine, I went out and got the bag of medicine. Looked at the stars, they were so close and clear. I was more troubled by the anxiety about Safari creating a scene again. I could listen to the conversation almost all night.I handed them the medicines and closed my eyes. They really were in shock and agony.

We survived another day. The next challange was going to the washroom :) ! We all cleared level 1 ;)

I volunteered to ride the Fazer as Anshuman was down, but Amit refused to buzz. He needed rest. Anshuman had no choice but to gear up for the drive that would make him chill to the bone. But before that, Fazer required another 30 kicks to start, even more! Not only fazer, Safari was panting as well, engine was cold as ice( Well, the coolant pipe was broken again. I can smile as i write this).

"Chalo Dhakka maaro".

Everyone watched as i tried my best to get the engine started and thankfully it did. Phew!

Another 20 kms and smoke again.

"This wont go far", everyone of us knew this. But before you give up, try once more! We looked for options, primarily help. And help was right in front of us!

Big Help!

"Bhaiya coolant pipe fatt gaya hai".

It was a no brainer for the truckwallahs/construction workers (building roads) to read our minds. Luckily they had some equipments too! An iron pipe was cut and fitted in place of the coolant pipe. This would be good to go. This had to work. They told us that another 3 hours and we will be between habitation. That pumped us. An hour had already gone by.

The tension was mounting as we started again. Driving through the murray plains (40 Km stretch) was a pain reliever. But the apprehension had got all of us. We were extra careful.

"Stop, I need to puke"!

Shweta's tolerance was breached. Amit needed a doctor. We all needed some breakfast and Safari needed constant rest. We took a break just before Tanglang La (18000 ft).

Another round of bread omlette and maggi disgusted everyone but that is all you get at 17000 ft.

It was 1000 hours. Jyoti was supposed to land in Leh at 0800 hours. We knew he would be trying to contact us(He didn't know where to put up in Leh, had no details, and his prepaid connection wont work) but who was gonna tell him what we were going through and what was ahead of us. Tanglang la was supposedly the last lap, the last hurdle. We carried on.

Amit was off to sleep by then, Shweta was impatient after 2 rounds of puking. I was cautitious, Shaily was busy with the camera. With regular breaks at 30 Kms, we marched ahead, even turning off the engine a few times to avoid overheating. Finally we reached the Second highest motorable pass of the world. The view was breathtaking, and we were breathless.

We clicked a couple of pictures and moved down the slope. Luckily, Safari was in good health. That gave me enough confidence. Another 130 Kms to the destination.

As we descended, people started to get chirpier. With some fruits to eat, shweta was alive. Amit too was getting back to normal.

We were back :)!

Smiles were back. With empty roads, mountains on the left and Indus on the right and interesting road signs (Be gentle on my curves) made the moment light. The headache was gone, a little more than enough of oxygen supply and people on the road made us feel better. i started pressing the accelerator.

Meanwhile in Leh, Jyoti knew nothing. He waited and waited and waited before he could contact us. That was around 1200 hours. Everything was falling in line.

A little late but safe. On the way there were Army camps, monastries and hell lot of vehicle repair centres. One noticable thing was cleanliness, it seemed like we were far away from the rest of India.

We rushed to pick Jyoti.

Welcome Aboard.

Three cheers for making it to Leh (safely) - Hip Hip, Hurray! Hip Hip, Hurray! Hip Hip, Hurray! We shouted and headed for the hotel. We needed food, and some rest. But wait, Safari needed some attention before it broke down again. So we ran from pillar to post to get it serviced.

Bad News- The service station was a small one and they did not have the spare part we were looking for.

Good News- We had Rum and Whiskey.

Great news - We could breathe a sigh of relief and contact our Family and friends.

Take rest guys. Driving 800 kms was not a pain in the ass, infact it was the most fabulous and thrilling journey I had ever undertook. I needed rest. We all needed some rest. See you Tomorrow. Leaving you with a part of heaven to cherish.

To Be Continued..

Leh Diary - Day 2 And Day 3

Day 2(Delhi-Sonepat-Panipat-Karnal-Kurukshetra-Ambala-Kharar-Rupnagar-Sundernagar-Mandi-Manali)
600 Kms
15-Aug-2014(Beware of the Ides of August!)
Early to bed and early to rise. The perfect mantra when you are on an unending drive! We got up at 6, freshened up and were rearing to go by 7.
Fuel-Check, Air pressure -Check, Engine oil - Forgot to check, Coolant - Forgot to check. Nonetheless, high on excitement we started the first leg of journey. Not only us, but a quarter of national capital's population too started their journey for Manali via NH1. Meanwhile Anshuman left for Manali on his bike from Chandigarh at around 8 A.M.

We reached Ambala somewhere around 1200 hours and had lunch at the much renowned Hotel Haveli(a not so good experience). Amit launched himself in the driver seat, followed by shaily's desire to drive, followed by amit taking over again as we approached the mountains and what followed next was a nightmare. An ocean of traffic awaited us just when we started to enjoy the drive after lunch. People coming from manali adviced us to go back, telling tales of their journey. Some even claimed about landslide, bridge being washed away and what not. But we continued. I took over the wheels in between the traffic jam, and cleared the initial traffic but sadly it kept coming. Traffic diversions created more delay. Dinner was the last thing on my mind(Amit was the prime sufferer of this plan). I just wanted to reach manali, by hook or crook. After reaching Mandi, we refuelled again, it was 12:30 Am and another 100 kms with heavy rain and Beas by the side, we discussed our course of action. The petrol pump guy informed(read misinformed) us of bad condition of road ahead but we paid no heed and rightly so. I checked with Anshuman(He was right on time) and he gave me a go ahead and inspired to keep moving. ETA 3 hours. Lightening, more lightening, rains, more rains, thunderous Beas, it was a chilling and scary drive! And finally we made it. I checked my watch, 2:30 AM, and took a sigh of relief. Morning tells how the day will go, this was just the start of tough days ahead.Atleast we were on schedule. Anshuman was happy that he did not had to spend the night alone. And at last Amit had something to eat, a little though. The hotel was a surprising one, almost a 3 bhk flat for a mere 2400 INR. Some good news in the end.

Day-3 (Manali-Rohtang pass-Keylong)
120 Kms
16-Aug-2014
It was a beautiful morning, Bright and Sunny, with a chill in the wind.. Almost took away the pain we went through the previous day. A heavy breakfast and ration stuffing, delayed the start to the journey. Manali was beaming with energy, we could feel the rush. Apple gardens, the Beas and view of Rohtang were mesmerizing. I took a break from driving and amit took over. Anshuman drove his Fazer( shaan se). God knows how the fazer has survived its 3rd such trip, second in 2014. Thumbs up to YAMAHA.

Little did we know that the traffic kept following us. Amit cursed his luck. We moved at snail's pace whereas Anshuman being smarty pants, rushed to the top with the jharkhand registered bike.

We had no option but to keep complaining about the thousand others stuck in the traffic and at the same time enjoying the marvels of Himalayas. Himalayas, huge as they seemed were generous to welcome us on every turn and twist, requesting us to keep track of blind curves and not littering the place.Every corner presented a view that surpassed the previous, and every inch was breathtaking to say the least. It was surreal, majestic and what not. Every now and then I got a chance to climb up the mountains, sit on the top and enjoy the famous manala cream as the clouds that brushed passed me. This has to be felt rather than read. So buckle up guys and drive.

After almost 6 hours drive and 50 kms, (yes you read it correct, 50 Kms : 6 Hours) we were on top of Rohtang La (13,000 FT). It was not difficult to spot the legendary Fazer and a little boy shivering in the cold(Poor soul, he waited for nearly 3 hours at the top). He rushed to the Safari and seeked warmth. As soon as we opened the gates to let him in, a cold wave hit us.
Amit : I prefer jacket and shorts when its cold.
And what happened next was not surprising. He was looking for all gears that he had for the trip. And so did the rest of us.

After waiting for 3 hours on top ( god knows how he did it) and jhelofy couple of showers, Anshuman survived but needed much deserved rest. I volunteered to drive the bike for next 50 Kms. As expected, it didnt start. After some 30 kicks, we could smile (We were breathless too). I pledged that I wouldn't let the engine freeze again. It was more of a task than enjoyment for next 60 minutes as I bumped through under developed pitch dark road. Thankfully, people followed us no more (most of them went back to Manali). It was me and darkness and frigid August night and the galaxy above.
Meanwhile Amit faced a barrage of problems due to reckless drivers who drove on high beam. Finally we reached Keylong (10000 ft).
120 Kms : 12 hours
The hotel was a nice find, credits to Anshuman. Dinner was filling. Beas was still audible. And the night gladly welcomed us. Long day. Phew!!!

To be continued..

Leh Diary

Gar firdaus bar-rue zamin ast, hami asto, hamin asto, hamin ast And thousand have died protecting the heaven on earth. We owe you guys. Respect~Indian Army~Border Road Organization(BRO) and everyone else that has contributed to keep the place unadulterated.

Back in the days of sleeping giant(ORKUT), my brother forwarded me one of those Royal Enfield groups that organized trips to LEH. The Fire Rises! And bull's eye, quickly it went into my ThingsToDoBeforeYouDie list. (Honestly, many would do it over and over again. Such is the beauty.)

The year 2014 has been a surprise package until this is being written. The tickets were booked well in advance after extended meeting. Such was the seriousness that it took 2 days to decide nothing. Plan A, Plan B, Plan C and Plan Falana Plan Dhimkana- We had these options to chose from based on the number of days. A lot of effort went into it by my sis. Well done! ThumbsUp. Considering cost/number of days/comfort/fun, it was decided that we would drive my brother's safari from delhi and be back. ThumbsUp for Safari! Awesome family!

I always had this trip planned in my mind. Take a bike from delhi-go Up- Up- Up until there's only you and no one else. Sounds dreamy, but it happens. Even though the tickets were booked, there were chances that i would miss the most awaited journey of my life. Thanks to other important things(Read MBA/JOB). But sometimes life is a bed full of roses. This was one such instance. And so we began. Oops…. we forgot to do the all important checklist. But got 2 bottles of Rum instead(planned well in advance). And yet we BEGAN.

We-Amit Ranjan(Sahib),Anshuman Solanki(The biker),Jyoti Nishant(joined us in Leh due to commitments, not to a girl but his job), Saurabh Suman(Driver), Shaily Sahay(Photographer/Video analyst), Shweta Kumari(Memsahib).

Day 1(Pune-BOM-DEL)

14-Aug-2014

Shaily and I began at 1:00 pm, when we locked the doors of the cab, which took us to Brehman circle,Pune. The bus was right on time, infact we boarded an earlier bus to avoid any mumbai traffic jams. And we did a right thing, Mumbai can be rude at times. We reached the airport on time, later joined by Amit and Shweta and realized that an hour late would have made no difference. Chaos was on everyone's mind. System failures, final announcements, merry go round queues which hardly moved didn't dampen our spirits. Later when the servers were up, we were right up there at the counters. Boarding pass collected, luggague checked in, Welcome Aboard. An hour late, we were welcomed by my sis in law with delicious ghar-ka-mutton. Another ThumbsUp! I Quietly asked my bro if the safari was serviced-Negative. No wonder what it led to.

To Be Continued..

Rains And Music

Its raining again in kolkata. Part-2

I quietlymoved out while Sumi kept on throwing questions at me. It was a plush area with Merc and Honda City covering up the parking place. I owned a relatively down-looked car in that area. I preferred a walk in the hot sun, it wasn’t something new, I was used to it. As I stepped out of premises, world seemed bizarre. Everyone had a purpose, the auto driver, fruit sellers…it was a small market just outside the housing society. I walked through the shops, and moved to a quieter place, the paan shop. I lighted up a cigarette, it was a no smoking zone but people hardly paid any heed to government rules. It was blown with the smoke. Where are you? We need to go for shopping? It was Sumi. She had been a good wife but a complaining types, may be because she expected me to earn some more, she expected me to break into reserve bank of India and steal few millions or may be she expected me to sell my morale and be just another common stupid man. This was the only problem with her…she was money minded, and money is happiness for we the Indians. I wasn’t earning less, but I wasn’t cashing in crores. Ignoring the message I walked without any purpose and headed towards the slum, the area that was considered to be a black spot on the housing society. Very soon I had to take out a piece of cloth and cover my nostrils; I didn’t dare to step forward. Dingy lanes, houses having no doors, a woman clad in single piece of cloth…the sight was distressing. I moved further. Little shops all around, filled with noise and everyone looked at me suspiciously. I was a foreigner in their Iceland! A small temple not bigger than my store room was probably the only place where thousands went for meditation. People were dark, unlike us, may be due to the pollution or genes, but they had a smile unlike us!
It was more of an exploration for me, although as a child I had seen poverty but never saw slum, it was intriguing. I was brought up in the fields if not born there and spent most of my childhood feeding the cattle or staying up with bapu in the fields for little help that I could afford. My eyes never saw toys, I never touched a bat, was alien to dumb charades. The only sport that whole village kids played was football, rather it was a mass of plastics rolled and tied into a single piece. I remember I had touched the ball twice, among some 50 odd kids chasing the ball as if it would run away if they don’t run behind it! And later when I left the village, I heard it was stolen. I could understand the pain of my friends, although they weren’t, and the void that the football created in their minds. But human beings are so cute idiots that they tend to fill the void sooner, or later be it a football or own blood. I lost my son; or rather he wasn’t interested to see the state of affairs of the world or to be more precise India. He left us when he was 2 days old, lived too long to create flashes of memory that haunted me at times.

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://jsr2bbsvialove.blogspot.com/2011/02/in-search-of-love-life-laughter-part-2.html' title='In search of Love, Life, Laughter! My thoughts wandered to and fro.
A boy on the verge of teenage, walking miles, hairs ruffled with extra oil, hands protruding out of torn button less shirt, shorts without any zip and legs without any slippers, carrying a slate and few pieces of chalk in his hand, looked tensed. He was already late for the class. Fighting with his destiny, his own family, against the society, he had one thing in his cortex, Money. He had seen much at a small age.
From a playful boy who had servants all around him to selling coal pieces in the evening to earn a few coins so that he could continue with his high school, from being a powerful family in the village employing others to working in others fields for a meal on weekends, life was a mixed bag for this kid. With focused eyes, and long strides he made his way through the fields challenging the sun and the loo. After some 40 minutes afternoon walk which wasn’t doing any good to his health, he reached a small hut in between few trees. He could breathe easy now but was late. The headmaster blabbered few slangs to each one of them as he called out the names for attendance, stopped for a while, looked at the boy and said-“call your bapu tomorrow, tell him, I’ve to talk to him!” Mid day meals was something that no one thought of at that time, there laid a hand pump which seldom provided water to the thirsty. It was tough ask for everyone.
Next day the headmaster and the boy’s father had a long conversation.
“Why don’t you take him to the city, he is the brightest student, and has a zeal to learn?”
“Sarkar, we don’t want him to study, who will take care of the farming?” He is the elder son, and my heath is also an issue. We can’t afford to spend an extra penny. He wanted to learn, we sent him to you, we could do nothing more.”
And it took lot of praise and assuring words from the head master before his father was convinced. And the kid now had a future. He could dream now.
“What are you upto Dev? Have your breakfast.” A voice interrupted. I woke up as if from a slumber and with lazy steps moved to the dining table. Life was so different now, and a well deserved life. Although the honesty inside me had died long ago when I took my first bribe for improper construction work in the local area, but it was for my family. The government salary was little too less to afford the house chores, my daughter’s demands and my wife’s leisure. My principals were thrown out of the house the day my wife entered the two bedroom flat with all modern facilities. I don’t blame her; she had a rich father and a caring mother.
I quietly sat on the chair and ate up what was before me. And my wife kept on throwing her demands for a maid servant, a new sofa set and some wood work that would make me sad and other neighbours jealous. My wife was 3 years younger to me, but she held key to everything. I was just another wood work in my own lavish house, although many claimed that I had a perfect family, with a beautiful wife and a lovely daughter. But alas! I moved out of the dining room and looked out of the balcony, very few had the luxury of a balcony, but this luxury gave a distressed sight of slum. It turned me off, I went to the living room but television these days were filled with unrealistic shows. I was wasting my Sunday, although this wasn’t new but the feeling was more prominent today.

Dil dosti and the forbidden love!

Cometh August and happy the heart is! Fellas it's the friendship day, another day to rejoice, share memories and make friends! Another time of year when you forget about the crookedness, fights, issues which normally hover in our minds throught the sun's revolution! As i was in deep slumber, my cell phone beeped, not once, not twice but some 10 odd messages reading the same thing! It doesn't irritate me, but it makes me think that why do people need just one day to shower all gifts, praises, good words as to how i've been for them during their tough times and all the blessings bestowed upon me just on this day! What about the rest 364 days? Here are some ways that I look upon this issue-
A guy's perspective- If a guy has to be friends with a guy, he simply wouldn't wait for an year, rather they would sit in a bar and talk their heads out. Next morning, they are the best of friends. If it involves a chick, he would buy cards, bring roses, take her out to a good coffee shop hoping that a lot can happen over it! If a lot happens, he waits for the valentine's day, if not, sad and dejected he accpets that they are friends!
A girl's perspective- They don't have any perspective on any matter and this is no exception! Two girls can never be best of friends. Period! And she thinks that a guy is hitting on her (which we do) if we ask her to be friends! So to be friends with her, yo ought to know her right from childhood or study in the same class, have lots of interaction during those boring sessions and they you make into her list!
One gem of a quote- 1 Jawan ladka aur 1 Jawan ladki, kabhi dost nahi ho sakte!

Rubaroo

The trauma began sharp 1400 hours when a violent little devil accompanied by a average looking lady with no FUN toys found his fingers right on the switchboard to create a pre-dipawali show and tempearture controlling effects by turning the lights and fan on and off...although my stupid little friend too joined the devil, hours later to create a dangerous show after few drags of BANNED objects!
Anyways going back...the journey was horiible but the fruits to journey were soothing and wonderful. i try to find the right words to describe but I find none, speechless about the rom com weather, the young crowd and excitement to meet my old buddies!
It was a entralling journey to Kharagvasla...I would have loved to create an imagery of lush green surroundings, a beautiful lake midway, NDA building (site for the movie MAJOR SAHAB), road side vada paav, bhelpuri, bhajia, chai and ciggerets. With chilly winds amd black and white snow above us, I fail miserably to describe the place...a wonderful dinner and few sexy girls whome I could have eyed had they not been my sister's friends, just because I am one of the few from the sharif community and believes that-
LOVE YOU FRIENDS AND NOT THEIR SISTERS
LOVE YOUR SISTERS AND NOT THEIR FRIENDS!
well it didn't stop there...I was left numb with few drags of joint and few bits of hot sizzling brownie with vanila ice-cream(my favorite),we moved out to realise we need to escape the rain drops...I ran, but as the drops fell on me I was left wanting for more and thereafter kept me waliking until I reached the car, mesmerized by the RAIN(so very rare in some places).
A little set and wet moving back to territory my little naughty friend asked for company for some madira aND I WAS hell yeah...who wouldn't love a few falls on the wet ground and cool breeze, I wouldn't deny the love for the city.
Its over for the day at 0421 hours and I still ponder for more thoughts and surplus words as I felt bankrupt by the young city...I am SPEECHLESS.
phew
P.s- Keeping aside the political and internal affairs of the city!
oops APAN hot and spicy AAAmlete ko bhool gaya rite at 0445 hours!

unEmotional atyachar

S[HE] always BE[LIE]VE[D]
[S]HE always BE[LIE]VE[D]
Do you have a nagging feeling that your partner might be cheating on you? Or perhaps you think that your best friend’s girlfriend is not being entirely honest with him? What do you do then? Call up a TV series, set up spy cams...several agents...microphones..tears..slaps..and you get a complete entertainment ka baap! In the era of sting operations, lives are no longer private, a person's nightmare is an entertainment for others! Even if your partner is a cheat, you dont have the rights to tell the entire nation that you were being cheated! And the moment you spy your partner fails the purpose of relationship as it hinges on trust, the moment you set agents on him breaks the thread.
But then you're being cheated while you dream of a house, a candle light dinner and blah blah blah and the whole imagery shatters when you watch your loved ones loving loved ones of others! Now let us accpet this that all of us at some point or the other have flirted, you have an escape route and you are a DUDE, you get caught and you are disloyal and the whole nation tlks about it! Lemme make it a bit more controversial, I like some actress who has a figure to die for, and i find this sex tape of hers available...i watch it, enjoy it...i think over it and decide that ok I can tell my partner about it! let us change the characters a bit, i like my partner's best friend who has a figure to die for and i find her tape...i watch it, enjoy it...and don't tell my partner about it! Which case reflects disloyality?
I'm not trying to justify that flirting out of you relation is ok, i just have a point that before you raise a finger on your partner, look at the mirror, ask you self, have a monologue and then you might be in a position to test your partner!
As for me, i love flirting! :)

4 beers down and still standing! pART-1

SAURABH SUMAN
Kingfisher strong-650 ml
Alcohol strength should not be exceeding 8 percent (v/v). Making sense all the while when I talk, justifying that I am still in my senses. Yups, the most awaited birthday of the year started with a bang, SHIT...exclaimed all, and the bang supposedly came from one of the rear tires. Everytime I look up to a pretty woman, someone whispers in my ears-‘She’s tall for you dude!’ so what? I’m not tall that doesn’t mean I can’t admire her, that doesn’t point to me being a dud. I vividly remember my childhood when I was a subject to humour just because I was not THAT tall, why is all this hue and cry about a guy being tall? Once I grew up tall, I was the tallest in the family, but still not tall enough! But that doesn’t reduce or take away my credits, my abilities. I’m still the same. Many people I know were not THAT tall but made a historical mark yet to be achieved and many people I know are tall enough but yet to make a mark. So what makes someone so special just because he’s a guy with a height which is JUST above average? I can’t think of any apart from the fact that he can jump a little higher than me and he can be seen apart in the crowd of Lilliputians. Help me out, if you know few other advantages. I don’t miss her when I’m drunk, I don’t miss her when I’m in my senses, I don’t miss her when I’m smoking and inching towards a dead end and I don’t miss her when I’m sitting and waiting for the time when I can light up another smoke. I don’t miss her even when I’m thinking about her. I simply don’t miss that girl with black innocent eyes, a totally different gait from the rest, a deadly laughter that could compete with the most appalling laughs you would have ever come across, a kurti or a round neck tee shirt covering every inch of the flesh, what gives me enough reasons to miss her? I can’t remember a single convincing reason.
Although every single thing that mattered to me be it my dinner, my lunch, my smoke, my beer, my recharge coupons, my going to the gym, my avoiding the gym, in some way had something to do with that girl. When she smiled, I smiled…when she cried, although I didn’t cry but yeah I did feel the pain but still I don’t miss her now! I mean, why should I? Why should a boy like me miss a girl who did nothing but evolved a different new personality of me? Why should a boy like me miss her who did nothing but inspired me every time I was on a low, who laughed at my jokes, who sang songs for me? Why should I miss her?
And now when the much anticipated inevitable end is approaching, I would like to say just one thing- I DON’T MISS YOU BABY!

DOOMS DAY

As the movie said the end, it actually begun. But one thing he didn't know was, engineers belogn to a different class!
Mechanical engineers- to be able to make an engine that’s fuel efficient, spacious, economical, lots of back space! In short begaari!
Civil engineers- construct a building that is a world class architecture and can never be constructed again. Hope you read and understand the previous sentence. CAN NEVER BE CONSTRUCTED!
Electrical engineers- a motor that gives high power from a low input voltage, but they fail miserably and normally seen at a shop that reads, JAI MATA DI ELECTRICALS!
Electronics engineers- to build a microchip that is fast, compact, and size so small that it is almost invisible. There you go, INVISIBLE!
Electronics and electrical engineers- trapped between dreams of an electrical engineer and an electronics engineer, they hardly dream anything coz they know that their counterpart are working hard enough!
Computer science engineers- a code that could never be broken, and if by any chance they do develop it, next day they develop the code to break it themselves!
Information technology engineers- I’m still dreaming, will complete the job once I wake up! It brings with itself unanswered queries, nerve wrecking equations, creepy diagrams, sleepless nights, frustrated faces and gloomy hearts.
Examinees shudder at the thought of an examination, leave alone facing it. Girlfriends avoid boyfriends, boyfriends avoid beer. Singles avoid movies, when I say movies, I mean family movies, not the masala #$## videos. Men will be Men after all.
As I appeared for possibly second last semester exam of my life, I kept thinking. Thinking about the system, thinking about we the students, thinking about GIRLS (of course), and yeah thinking about the exams.
This whole examination system has somewhat managed to create a rift amongst the student fraternity (perhaps that is the reason HRD is seriously considering to abolish the exams). We the students can be broadly, vividly, definitely and very rightly into categories-
1) The Nerds- they belong to the class one post, exams hardly bother them.
2) The confident- usually seen talking on phone, watching movies or chatting but only after completing the course.
3) The Serious- they try too hard yet only manage a confused look on their face.
4) The Average- they know, try as hard as they may, they won’t be able to cross the hurdle.
5) The Cheaters- Do not Disturb, I’m busy. Busy in making cheats.
6) The Whole-sellers – they proclaim to have question papers, beware they might help you earn the lowest possible grades.
7) The F*** - they have a don’t care, usually seen outside the beer parlour before exams, the reason being frustration, and usually seen outside the beer parlour after the exams, the reason being frustration again. I guess frustration too gets frustrated with them.
8) The me- well I don’t fall into any of the above category, so I thought to may be confuse you.

Which category do you fall into?

my 7 N 1/2 love affairs!

Life is very easy, until you find one in a million pieces that drives you crazy, the one of all the stars you were looking for and thought that yeah she’s the one. Life is very easy until you find that little tickle inside your pants when you smell a chance of flesh that might be yours. Life is very easy until you’ve decided to go berserk and do all shorts of crazy things just to impress the opposite sex. Yes life is very easy until you find a girl. So now that you know about this simple truth of the most amazing facts of this world, you would be wondering, my life is still very easy and I have a girl. Then let me clear your doubts mate. But before that, I would like to make a disclaimer that I am no LOVE guru; I am just a victim of the famous pains and gains that you ought to have when you find that one little happiness that ruins your life!
Have you ever thought who pays the bills when you people go out supposedly on a date? Have you ever thought who has to travel long distances to see a glimpse of your beloved? Have you ever thought who turns a normal Sharif guy into a classic devdas or even a modern dev-d? Yes, she is the one, the one that you dream of every night. The one for whom you could fight with the family, the one who could make you do things which no one expected you to do! I know you haven’t thought about it, and you might be cursing me for the bare truths that I’ve mentioned but sooner or later you’ll realize that love begins with a loss and a comprehensive victory. The person who suffers loss thinks that he has won…sadly he’s the guy…and the person who wins has simply won. Hats off to you lady!
I never thought that I could be one of the victims but once you get trapped in those mesmerizing charm it’s impossible to come out of it without being a loser. I ran after street dogs or rather they chased me, I lied, I even stole money from my father’s purse but I lost. They weren’t happy even after the defeat, winning wasn’t everything they wanted. And here they have made me write a novel or may be an experience that I could share with my male species. Thanks to you senoritas, I still love you for what you people have made out of me, a poet, a writer, a drunkard, a passive smoker, an active smoker, a leader, a Romeo, an eve teaser and everything that you could think of! I was Mr. Nobody and still happy until I met her or infact met THEM but now, I am somebody that I hate to be, but still I can do nothing about it. Thank you again! I love all of you!

remix!

though this has nothing to do with the novel, but i thought it would be fun to tell you a lil bit about my few originals(although few are not, they are inspired)..but thts wat remix is all about! isnt it??

kp is boys hostel of our college and queen's castle is galz hostel and kiit is the college!
ud ud baithi har kiit-wa k chhatiya...
udd udd baithi har kiit-wa k chhatiya..
kp k sab ras le liyo re queen's castle ki muniya!

a hindi version of my heart will go on....u can match d words n sing it in sync wid d music!
raaton ko khwabon me,tujhe dekhoon, tujhe sochoon
aise hi tujhe jaanoon sadaaaa
milon ki hai duri,khaamosi yahaaaan,
aapne sikhlaya jeenaaaa
durr pass jahan v ho aap,
main maanoon,dil ki dhadkanein...
chalti rahe!

the famous-babul ki duaaien leti jaa
dabur ki dawayein leti jaaa...
jaa tujhko pati bimaar mile
maayke ki hamesha yaad aaye...
sasuraal me itni maar mile!

phoolon ka taaron ka sabka kehna hai
ek hazaaron me...USKI behna hai ;)
saari umar humein sang rehna hai!

on the tunes of-kehna hi kya from bombay!
laden chhipa hua hai afganistaan me kahi,
daoowd v hai pakistan k jungalon me kahi..
cricket me india ki haar hui, olympics me jeete hain medal
mumbai me serial dhamake hue, orissa me aayi tsunami
delhi me 2 murder hue,pm ko deni safai.....

Big Bang Theory!

7:30 pm
Room no- 4c/204
Status- plan ready to be executed
Member status- everyone ready

I had 30 precious minutes in my hand to have a life time opportunity, and I knew I will be a fool if I let off this one. We separated into four groups of two each. Every group had a task cut out.
Alpha- me and nik
Beta- arya and abhinav
Gamma- ankit and piyush
Delta- rajat and lucky

‘Any questions guys?’ I was the head of the operations.
‘No sir.’ They all shouted. And we all smiled.
‘Then move on, everyone should be back by 7:40 pm, is that clear?’ I was a bit nervous about this whole plan.
‘Yes sir.’ Said the chorus. And everyone moved in opposite directions, towards the bathroom.

Scene 1
Alpha group
It was dark all around.
‘Hey dude, you think this will work out?’ Nik doubted as he lighted the incense sticks.
‘Put off the matchstick man, we’ll be caught, and by the way, it has to work. I have no other option.’
Cell phones can be unwanted at times; it lowers the blood pressure level and raises the anxiety level.
‘Where the hell are you? I’ve been waiting hero.’ My love, she was so cute.
‘Just 10 minutes, I’ll be right there.’
‘Your time starts….NOW!’ And she hung up.

Scene 2
Beta group

‘Common yaar, you are one lazy ass.’ Abhinav was in a hurry.
‘Chill dude, you are with the no problem guy. You light the incense I’ll, explain you the concept of no problem guy.’ The usual Arya ishtyle.
He went on and on and on about his mantra in life. Abhinav in the mean while completed the task and moved out. Smart guy.

Scene 3
Gamma group

‘Hey Piyush, can we take this bulb to our room? Well done guys.

Scene 4
Delta group
No history found. Check for errors in the setting. JERKS!

Everyone was back by 7:38 pm, we were very precise.
‘Guys, do you think, I’ll make it?’ I badly expected a yes.
‘YES SIR.’
Friends are life.

7:43:26 pm

A deadly explosion was heard.
A guy came with a glow in his eyes and he shot- “there was a thunderous roaring sound of explosion heard at the hostel and places near about it. No casualties have been reported as of now. No group has claimed the responsibility till now and investigation is on.”
Just when he finished, BANG and BOOM. He was the only one in the room who had an expression of amazement.
He repeated again-“there was a thunderous roaring sound of explosion heard at the hostel and places near about it. No casualties have been reported as of now. THE GANG INFRONT OF ME CLAIMS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE BLASTS and investigation is STILL on.” He completed and left.
It was 7:45 and I had 5 more minutes for the deadline.
