Shugaba Bola Ahmad Tinubu, lokacin da aka zaɓe shi ya fuskanci ƙalubale saboda jarumtakar da ya nuna na cire tallafin man fetur, wanda wasu ƙanana ƙungiyoyi ke samun dubban biliyoyin naira, kuɗaɗen da za a iya amfani da su don bunƙasa tattalin arzikinmu da samar da ababen more rayuwa a ko’ina cikin ƙasa. Wannan babban matakin yanzu yana haifar da sakamako mai kyau; tattalin arzikin Najeriya yana dawowa kamar yadda aka saba. Jagorancin tausayi na Tinubu ya bayyana sosai a yadda ya gudanar da jana’izar tsohon Shugaba Muhammadu Buhari. Bayan sanarwar rasuwar tsohon Shugaba Buhari, Shugaba Tinubu ya umarci Mataimakinsa Kashim Shettima da wasu ministoci su tafi London su kawo gawar. Shugaba Tinubu ya tsaya tare da iyalan Marigayi Buhari a lokacinsu na wahala. Shi kansa ya tafi Daura ya jagoranci jana’izar. Wannan shi ne karo na farko a tarihin Najeriya da aka ba tsohon Shugaban kasa irin wannan girmamawa. Lokacin da tsohon Shugaba Shehu Shagari ya rasu kuma Buhari ne yake mulki, gwamnati bata yi masa girmamawa kamar yadda Tinubu ya yi ba. Mu ɗauka Buhari ne yake mulki yanzu Tinubu ne tsohon Shugaba, shin zai sami irin wannan girmamawa? Shugaba Tinubu ya nuna wa ‘yan Najeriya cewa shi shugaba ne na kowa da kowa. Ya kamata ‘yan Najeriya su canza tunaninsu game da shugabanci. Su daina kallon shugabanni kawai daga yankin su, masu magana da harshen su ko su ne mabiya addinin su kawai ne za su iya bada shugabanci nagari. Yayin da Shugaba Tinubu ke jagorantar ƙasa da tausayi, jinƙai, kirki da kulawa ta gaske ga rayuwar ‘yan Najeriya, ya kamata su sake tunani game da shugabanci. Su daina son kai na kabilanci, yankanci da addini, su kuma lura yadda gwamnatin Tinubu ke gina harsashin ƙasa mai ƙarfi da arziki. This bold decision is now yielding positive results Nigeria’s economy is returning to normal. Tinubu’s compassionate leadership was fully exhibited on how he handled the burial of former President Muhammadu Buhari. After the announcement of the death of former President Buhari, President Tinubu directed his Vice President Kashim Shettima and some Ministers to head to London and bring back his corpse. President Tinubu stood by the family of Late Buhari at their trying period. He personally traveled to Daura to led the funeral rites. This is the first time in Nigeria’s history that a former President was so honored. When former President Shehu Shagari died and now late Buhari was in charge, his government didn’t honor him near what President Tinubu did. Let’s assume that Buhari is in charge and Tinubu is the former President, will he receive such honor? President Tinubu proves to Nigerians he’s a leader for all Nigerians. The Nigerian people should try to change their mindset about leadership. They should stop thinking of only the leaders they speak the same language, came from the same region, practice the same religion etc can provide purposeful leadership. As President Tinubu is leading the country with compassion, empathy, kindness and a genuine concern for wellbeing of Nigerians, Nigerians should have a second thought on leadership. Let them drop sentiment of tribalism, regionalism, and religious sentiment and access how Tinubu administration is laying down the foundation of a great and prosperous Nigeria. Nation building requires sacrifices and luckily for Nigerians it didn’t take long and no loss of millions of lives as the case of China. Our Naira is now stable and inflation almost stopped. Governments under Tinubu are paying salaries on due unlike countries that faced challenges similar to Nigeria like Argentina that can’t pay salaries to workers in the country. To consolidate progress made so far and achieve success in building a prosperous Nigeria, Nigerians should vote for President Tinubu come 2027 Presidential election? They should not allow politicians that failed to provide good governance when they are in charge deceive them with tribal, regional and religious sentiments. By Shehu Mustapha Chaji Since the assumption of office the people of Kano state have continue to enjoy special care , regard and concern from President Bola Ahmad Tinubu. Just few days after Kwankwasiyya led administration was sworn in to power in Kano state their first policy was massive demolitions that the state never witnessed in its history. As tension raised through using diplomatic means President Tinubu ended it and normalcy returned to the ancient city. After former Governor Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje assumed office as APC National Chairman many indigenes of Kano state were appointed into President Tinubu's government. Due to large numbers of those appointed from Kano state one cannot easily count their numbers. Tinubu's administration have been spending Trillions of naira to build infrastructures across the state that will led to development and growth of the state. President Tinubu administration also didn't abandon, cancel or stopped infrastructures works started by previous administrations as it's the tradition with many past governments. Tinubu's administration continues with those works which includes Kano to Kaduna Highway, Kano to Katsina road, Kano to Maiduguri road, Railway from Kano to Abuja and Railway from Kano to Maradi . The Tinubu administration also ended the long standing dispute delaying the construction of 38 kilometer Kano Northern Bypass and works continues. Also the work from Kano to Hadejia in Jigawa state. President Tinubu also awarded new contract for rehabilitation and expansion of Tiga Dam to boost Irrigation farming that will provide more jobs and increase income to people of Kano while at the same time providing food security. And suddenly Tinubu administration awarded contract for light railway that will cost about 1.5 Trillion naira to turn Kano to world class city. Kano state under Tinubu administration, the state enjoys building of infrastructures and people from the state appointed into many positions of power. If APC stewards are trumpeting dividends of democracy the state is enjoying like Engr. Rabiu Suleiman Bichi and Hon. Musa Iliyasu Kwankwaso then by now President Tinubu should not even bother to come to Kano for his re election campaign. Kano state presently enjoys dividends of democracy under Tinubu administration that the state never witnessed from 1999 after return of democracy. The people of Kano are aware of propaganda by the opposition that the North is been short changed. But they know it's pure propaganda and that's the reason why the opposition is totally weak in the state. Many infrastructures works are on going and large numbers of those appointed from the state also help in crippling the opposition in Kano state. Former Governor of Kano state and Chairman of APC Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje got the highest votes in Nigeria to President Tinubu during the 2023 presidential election. His team is still intact and even received main leaders of the opposition NNPP Kwankwasiyya during 2023 election into APC. And just recently the Kano APC endorsed President Tinubu for second term due to great work to make Nigeria great again. Dandalin Siyasa forum is open to all Nigerians in respective of political , social, economic and religious affiliations of members, we are all partners in the business of strengthening our democratic norms and providing suggestions for our country’s development in all aspects. The forum started as initiative of a single individual which is the first of its kind in Northern part of Nigeria and has today been able to provide us with a platform of a unique innovation in discussion forums in Nigeria. We have been able to achieve a lot in the last three years of Dandalin Siyasa existence. The forum had it first year anniversary in Kano (2009), Second anniversary in Kaduna (2010) and hopefully its third year anniversary to hold in Sokoto later in the year. It has become a norm that during every anniversary event , some of our members are honoured with awards for their outstanding performance in the forum , so far six of our members received the awards in the past two years. We are also able to register an NGO (DANDALI FOUNDATION) with CAC to enable us perform our functions in the larger society according to the laws of the land. Plans are in top gear to launch DANDALI FOUNDATION as soon as possible. I will suggest to the house (forum) on the need for us to have an extra –ordinary meeting or get-together so that old and new members can come together face to face to strengthen friendship and exchange ideas as we do daily in the forum. According to Chairman of the forum Pharm Hashim Ubale Yusufu, the get together is for new and old members of the forum to socialize, interract and to falicitate with members that are are appointed into political offices and those that won elections. Among prominent members that the forum rejoice with are Alhaji Ibrahim Wakkala elected as Deputy Governor of Zamfara state and Alhaji Umar Said Tudun Wada appointed as Director of Press to Kano State Governor. Chaji was our former secretary general of Bayero University Kano, Students union government to match theory with practical as he read Bsc in political science. Chaji is a committed writer, activist and young revolutionaries. Dandalin siyasa is a forum for gavel-to-gavel discussions on political developments in Nigeria, Africa’s largest democracy. Recently some of the active members of the dandali were opportune to accomplish success in their areas, hence the need to write and congratulate them and to graciously give kudos to the dandali and its members. The corner stone of our online forum is the mutual respect for people’s views, though freedom of expression is inherent in our dandali, views and opposition views expressed in the forum are the rights of individual contributors. The active members of dandali are to many to mention, but a few, like my humble self, then the moderator or simply ‘madugun dandali’’, shehu chaji, who got a job recently after he completed his masters degree program in Developmental studies at his Alma Mata. Congratulations to the General John Danfulani, for successfully becoming a Phd holder. Danfulani was the former president students union, A.B.U. Zaria, a prolific scholar and analyst. Ghali Rogo is another active member worthy of mention. He would be going to England to pursue a course on security detectives’ equipment course at Stafford University London. The newly elected governor of Kano state, Rabi’u Kwankwaso made some appointments recently. Luckily for our dandali, about three of our active members were among. Dr. Inusa Dangwani is one of us, and he was the new chief of staff to Kano government house. Then the director press in person of Mallam Umar Said Tudunwada, popularly known as UST. He was the former General Manager Freedom radio Kano and deputy director press to Kwankwaso’s first tenure. Therefore his appointment did not come to many of us as a surprise; his track record is exceptional and highly impressive. I am wishing them a very meritorious tenure of service to their beloved state. Gwamnan ya bayyana hakan ne a ta bakin mataimakisa Ibrahim Wakkala. A nasa jawabin Gwamna Kwankwaso na jihar Kano shi kansa ya yi kakkausan kira ga al’ummar Arewa da su kauracewa Babban Taron na Kasa yana mai cewa “Ko kadan taron ba ya da wani amfani a garemu don haka muke kira da a kaurace masa. A matsayinsa na daya daga cikin jami’an gwamnati da suka kasance masu masaukin baki a taron nan, bai nuna gazawa ba ko kadan. A takaice, ya shaida mana cewa, gwamnatin Abdul’aziz Yari ce ta kashe kudi har Naira biliyan daya, wajen kammala ginin gidan rediyon da kuma inganta shi da wadannan na’urori na zamani. Ziyayar tamu ta dauke mu har zuwa Asibitin kwararru na Yariman Bakura, wanda shi ma aka inganta shi da na’urori na musamman, wadanda suka hada da na’urar gwajin yanayin sassan jiki, wadda da ita ake gwajin gano ciwon koda, ciwon suga da sauransu. Mun ga na’urar gwajin haihuwa ta zamani, mai aiki da hasken lantarki, wacce idan aka haska za a iya tantance yanayin ciki da sauran lalurorinsa. Mun ga na’urarori daban-daban, wadanda ya ce irinsu ne ake samu a manyan asibitocin zamani na kasashen duniya. Kamar yadda ya ce, duk wani awo da ake gudanarwa a asibitin, Naira dari biyar suke amsa, domin saukaka wa talakawa. Ya ce gwamnatin tasu, ta kashe sama da Naira biliyan biyu wajen kammala ginin asibitin da kuma inganta shi da na’urori. Daga nan ne kuma muka rankaya zuwa gadar boko, wadda kamar yadda Kwamishinan Watsa Labarai ya ce ake ginawa a halin yanzu. Wannan gada, hade da hanya mai nisan kilomita 75, za ta hada kananan hukumomin Talatar Mafara da Bakura da Maradun da Zurmi. Ya ce an bayar da kwangilar gina ta a kan Naira biliyan 7.1 kuma za a kammala ta cikin shekara uku, saboda muhimmancinta ga al’umma, musamman wajen bunkasa kasuwanci da noma da kiwo. Mun yi wa Kwamishina dan Madamin Birnin Magaji Tambayar cewa, ta yaya ake samun dinbin kudin da ake aiwatar da wadannan muhimman ayyuka? Once again the Dandalin Siyasa Online Forum has proved to the world that it has finally come of age. It is now established that our great forum is now an institution and which we pray will outlive us and continue to contribute positively for the development and growth of our great country. The aim of this short letter is to apologize to the management and members of Dandalin Siyasa Online Forum my inability to intentionally miss our anniversaries, last year in Dutse and the latest in Gusau. It’s due to reasons many will come to understand in future. For two years before 19-March-2008 I had the idea of starting this great forum, but Allah’s time is the best and I created the forum on the mention date. I did it out of intrest of have such group in the North then. I never knew or predict it will be what is is today, and only Allah knows the greatness it will attain. The Dandalin Siyasa of yesterday is different from how it is today. In the past many regard the forum as my personal belonging, and that may be among the reasons some were against me, but with the present dandali which many I observed regard to “ours” has passed the stage of fighting the “Owner” or plotting against the leadership. With me out of the picture I think those fighting me in the name of dandali have no one to fight or plot against. The Great Dandalin Siyasa Online Forum, am using this channel to officially inform the leadership that I will be attending all Dandalin Siyasa Online Forum Anniversaries Insha Allah as it has been proved that its now an institution not a personal belonging of Chaji or an instrument to be used by him to further any kind of agenda from next year. From numerous comments I read, the youths, elites and even states governments from Northern Nigeria have hope in Dandalin Siyasa. They look toward dandali to provide the agenda for is good governance and democracy all about. Many now believe Dandalin Siyasa can chart the roadmap for growth and development in Northern Nigeria. I will also appeal to leadership of Dandalin Siyasa to be more patience and to also tighten its belt for future challenges as profile and influence of the forum is growing by the day. As humans we are bound to make mistakes and errors and when this happens, we should as usual forgive and forget for interest of our great forum, region and country. B. YAKUBU SECRETARIAT, GUSAU, ZAMFARA STATE. Introduction: Dandalin Siyasa on-line forum which is a non-profit making and non-political organization organizes meetings on annual basis to review the forum’s achievements of the preceding year and discuss ideas, capable of moving the forum forward, burning Nsational issues, and exchanging views and opinions during the conference. Papers were presented and discussed in an open forum. The annual general meeting also paves way for members to meet outside social media. This year’s meeting takes place in Zamfara State, therefore, delegates started arriving Gusau, the capital of Zamfara State, the venue of the event on Friday the 6th December, 2013. Members visited Gusau Central Prison as well as paid courtesy call to His Royal Highness, the Emir of Katsina-Gusau and orphanage home. Gala night was held in the night at City King Hotel, Gusau. Proceedings: Saturday’s programme started with an opening prayer by Dr Ibrahim Mai Bushura at 10:52am. Thereafter, the Chairman, Local Organizing Committee, Zamfara State chaprter presented a welcome address in which he welcomed delegates to Gusau 2013 Annual General Meeting. The Right Honorable Speaker, House of Assembly, Honorable Aminu Tambuwal who was represented by Honorable Kawu Sumaila presented a goodwill message. He assured the support of the Honorable Speaker in all the activities of the forum. Earlier in his speech, the Governor of Kano State, His Excellency Engineer Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, represented by the Secretary to Kano State Government Alhaji Rabiu Suleiman Bichi expressed appreciation in the activities of Dandali On-line forum. He used the opportunity to briefly enumerate some of the achievements of Kano State Government. At the end, the Secretary to the State Government officially tendered the Governor’s request to host next year’s general meeting in 2014. In his remarks, the National Chairman, Dandalin Siyasa On-line Forum, Pharmacist Hashimu Ubale Yusuf traced the historical development of the forum from its inception to the present time. He stated that the first meeting was held in 2009 at Mambayya House, Kano; second meeting took place at Gamji Park, Kaduna; third meeting was in Sokoto, then Dutse in Jigawa State and the fifth in Gusau, Zamfara State. According to him, as at now the forum is blessed with prominent personalities such as the Deputy Governor of Zamfara State and the Secretary to the Kano State Government among many others. The Chairman extended the forum’s appreciation to all members who contributed towards the successful hosting of Gusau 2013 Annual General Meeting. At the end, Hashim Ubale called on the members of the National Assembly to be very cautious in restraining online users to exercise their fundamental human right as enshrined in the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Presenting his speech, the Governor of Zamfara State Alhaji Abdul-aziz Yari Abubakar who was represented by his Deputy Alhaji Ibrahim Wakkala maintains that the importance of this forum cannot be over-emphasized. He therefore, called on the members of the Dandali Foundation On-line Forum to put more efforts in ensuring that north regain its lost glory. He then highlighted some of the achievements recorded by his administration which include sales of fertilizer at subsidized price; payments of fees for qualifying examinations; feeding pupils in primary and secondary schools; and rehabilitation of both state and federal roads among others. The representative of the Governor then urged members to remain committed, united and resolute in restoration of good governance in Nigerian polity at all times. First paper presentation by Dr Sa’idu Ahmad Dukawa titled “Northern Nigeria and the Discourse on National Conference”. Major points discussed in the paper are: The myriad problems in Nigeria include corruption, insecurity, injustice, lack of infrastructure, and election malpractice among others. Major problems that are so particular in Northern Nigeria are, poverty, educational backwardness, insecurity, and illiteracy. Outlines “SWOT” - (Strength, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats). The analysis is indeed a food for thought for the discussions and strategy of Dandali Group. Inherent contradiction in the idea on the proposed conference by Goodluck Ebele Jonathan whether it is going to be national or sovereign. North is economically disadvantage which is as a result of leadership failure. Suggestions: Need for a collective aspiration and agenda for the region before the national conference North must ensure that the representative to the conference must be by local government not religion, region or ethnic nationalities. North must insist on Federal character before south- south can have 50% of petroleum revenue. Need for Dandali to consult all stakeholders to enlighten them on the disadvantage position of the nation. The presenter is in support of the conference since it is unavoidable. North must participate with collective agenda. Second paper presentation by Nasiru Wada Khalil titled “Virtual Communities of Interest and Political Economy of Nigeria: Remarks on the Role and Outcomes of Hausa Social Networks”. Major points discussed in the paper are: Outline various types of online Hausa social forums The existence of social media, change the people outlook about government and how they relate with their people. The paper traced the history of media usage in northern Nigeria. It explains the role of social media in society such as information sharing, education/indoctrination, means of self expression and a chance for its users to reach out. The paper argues that ethnicity, regionalism, religious differences are the major determinant of online social group members. Policy makers abhor social media because it gives unrestricted means of information gathering and exchange which is the most effective tool in bringing about transparency and accountability. Suggestions: The forum needs to be pro-active The forum needs to be focus and agenda setters for the government. There is also the need for the forum to be watchful of government influence in order to maintain their impartiality, objectivity and independent status. Comments/Contributions/Questions No patriotism in northern Nigeria. People should therefore be patriotic Selfish interest and greediness is one of the major causative agents in poor leadership particularly in northern Nigeria. Northern part is confronted with numerous problems and as such where do we go from here? We should learn how to elect qualitative leaders who would promote our aspirations. The influence of social media cannot be over- emphasized. Apart from information sharing, enlightenment and entertainment, it also contributed immensely in Middle Eastern uprisings. No consensus leader in the whole of Arewa but, with the emergence of Dandali On-line forum, there is hope for Northern Nigeria to regain its lost glory. People in the north should not be afraid to participate at the proposed national conference. People should go with open minds to discuss issues freely. Response by presenters: 1. Dr Saidu Ahmad Dukawa: Shed more light on the abundant natural and human resources endowed in the northern part especially population and economy. Those who want Nigeria to be divided from the north are responding from southern pressure. Northern leaders do not empower people like what previous leaders such as Sardauna did. They don’t want the country to be divided because they want to sustain themselves in power. Ibrahim Babangida, Abacha, Obasanjo did similar exercises to maintain power. The same thing President Ebele Jonathan has embarked upon. 2. Nasir Wada Khalil: Called on members of the forum to be very vigilant on government domination about the activities of the forum and to be wary on the postings of government activities in the forum because of their own interest. We must keep vigilant, focus and maintain our interest. Vote of Thanks Malam Umar Sa’id Tudun Wada urged members to work hard in promoting the activities of the forum. He said the postings on the forum are very encouraging, they indicate that our efforts are not wasteful. He thanked everybody for their resilience and patience throughout today’s deliberations. And this is because of the situation the north and Nigeria has found itself and the need to have solutions to our numerous problems. Lastly the Secretary to the Government of Kano State Alhaji Rabiu Suleiman Bichi said he has listened to all deliberations and he understood them perfectly but, the policy decision Kano has taken over the national dialogue not to participate has been commendable on so many grounds. Namely among which is just a waste of time and resources. Besides, there is scarcity of leadership in the north and also the followers do not believe in the leadership which is supposed to be a mutual trust between the leaders and the followers. The national dialogue has history of dividing Nigerians and the committee itself is led by questionable characters that in their past activities, they were found to have intention of dividing the country in a coup and also the committee is composed of characters that are not patriotic to Nigeria as such Kano would not participate. The South-West also indicated similar concern and General Buhari our leader, has clearly come out criticizing such fora. Other Matters Arising Four additional members were incorporated into the membership of Board of Trustees. These members are: Alhaji Ibrahim Wakkala; Alhaji Rabiu Suleiman Bichi; Senator Isah Yahaya Zarewa; and Malam Ahmed Sajo. The Deputy Governor of Zamfara State led members in prayer for Saleh Dakata who had accident and being hospitalized in Kano. Zamfara State Government is of the opinion that National Conference is not in any way the solution to the numerous national problems. Communiqué on the 5th Anniversary of Dandalin Siyasa On-line Forum, Theme “Northern Drawing Board: Who Leads The Way? Held on 7TH and 8TH December, 2013 at J. B. Yakubu Secretariat, Gusau, Zamfara State. Communiqué: At Dandali 5th anniversary forum tagged “Gusau 2013” held on 7th and 8th December, 2013, major burning national issues were identified and discussed amongst which include: Anti Cyber Proposed bill by the National Assembly; National Conference/ Dialogue and Socio-Economic Challenges bedeviling Northern Nigeria. The forum observed with regret that, the anti-cyber critic Bill, is undemocratic, unconstitutional and outright infringement on people’s fundamental freedom of self expressions in a democratic setting. As such it will and most be resisted by all concerned. On National Conference/Dialogue, the forum believed that it is never a solution to Nigeria’s socio-economic and political crisis, hence, the forum calls on National leaders to rescind the decision and be popular on policies amongst Nigerians. Major Challenges of the North were identified as poverty, lack of education, political rights, Security and Civic Education especially through social media. Other major observations noted are: No patriotism in northern Nigeria. People should therefore be patriotic Selfish interest and greediness is one of the major causative agents in poor leadership particularly in northern Nigeria. No consensus leader in the whole of Arewa but, with the emergence of Dandali on-line forum, there is hope for Northern Nigeria to regain its lost glory. Based on the aforementioned observations, recommends as follows: 1. There is need for the 19 northern states to take pro-active measures in tackling socio-economic problems bedeviling the region. 2. There is need for concerted effort from all and sundry, to find a lasting solution to the lingering and deadly security problems in the region. 3. If the region must attain the up-coming national conference, there is need for the region to go with common sets of agendas. 4. As 2015 general election is approaching, we recommend massive voters education in the region. Civil societies, NGOs and government need to design robust measures in order to enlighten the general public on how to stop rigging and other mal- practices during elections. 5. We also recommend that, National Assembly members from the North must make sure the anti- cyber critic bill is not passed. We believe it is unconstitutional and undemocratic and cannot stand a taste of time. 6. We also urge both the Federal Government and ASUU to quickly resolve their differences so that students can go back to classes. 7. The forum wishes to extent its heartfelt condolence to the people of South African Government and Africa in General over the death of Nelson Mandela. 8. Lastly, the forum is immensely very grateful to the Government and people of Zamfara State for their wonderful reception and hospitality. I understand that this is the 5th conference since the creation of this forum. Over the years, Dandalin Siyasa has provided an invaluable platform for evaluation of public policies and appraisal of day to day operations of governments in Nigeria. It has gained prominence for debating issues of concern to the northern part of the country, where it draws most of its membership, and the country as a whole. 3. I believe this group is driven by the passionate desire of its members for strengthening our democracy and building a prosperous Nigeria which will occupy its proper place on the continent and on the global arena. Gladly, the online activities of forums such as yours have begun to bear fruitful results. Today, more than any other time, our people have embraced the online social media as a means of drawing the attention of governments and policy makers to issues that will strengthen democratic governance and speed up development. I must therefore commend the foresight of the founding fathers of this group, Malam Shehu Mustapha Chaji along with his committed friends, which led to the formation of the group. It is my hope that it will continue to inspire leaders at different levels to be more committed to issues of development and inject in the youths who are expected to assume greater leadership responsibilities in the future skills that will help them develop a clear vision for their communities and the country. 4. I would like to call on the group to concentrate more efforts in propagating those values that would facilitate the reawakening of the north so as to regain its lost glory. There is no better time for this than now, considering the clamour from various quarters for re-evaluation of our federal system. We in the north cannot and will not play a second fiddle in the Nigerian federation. If we are to restore the glory of the region we must have a united front on crucial issues like the proposed National Conference irrespective of party, ethnic and religious differences. 5. We in Zamfara State are of the opinion that the proposed National Conference is not a panacea to the myriad of problems bedevilling our polity. We don’t need a National Conference to address the problem of acute shortage of electricity; We don’t need such conference to address the lingering crisis in our education sector. We don’t need the conference to address the nagging issue of security across the federation. A conference need not be held before we could tackle the issue of corruption in this country. We also don’t need a conference to address the issue of organised oil theft. We in fact don’t need a conference before we realise the need to be fair and transparent in sharing the revenues accruing to the Federation Account. We already have a democratic constitution and democratically elected leaders in place. 6. All we need in this country is for the leadership to be purposeful and fully alive to its responsibilities. All we need is to abide by the rules of the game; respect the provisions of the constitution and always be mindful of the fact that we are servants of our people and not their overlords. 7. As you are holding this event here in Zamfara State, it will not be out of place for me to recount to you some of the modest achievements recorded by our administration within the past two and a half years. The reason for our emphasis on provision of infrastructure is the fact that Zamfara State is basically a rural state which needs to be opened up for wider development opportunities through the provision of infrastructure. In addition to the colossal investment made by the government in roads construction, modest achievements have equally been recorded in education, health, water supply and agriculture: Zamfara State is the only state throughout the federation that sells fertilizers at a heavily subsidised rate of N1000 per bag. This policy started from the inception of our administration and we intend to sustain it throughout our tenure; Every year, the State Government spends over N400 million for payment of NECO and WAEC examination fees for all final year secondary school students of the state; In addition to completion of construction of hostels and classrooms which we inherited from the immediate past administration, our administration has rehabilitated all boarding secondary schools under the Ministry of Education and provided beds, chairs and mattresses for the students; The State Government spends an average of 188 million naira monthly for feeding of pupils and students across the state. This is in addition to provision of an average of ten thousand bags of assorted grains every month for schools; We have completed the construction of the multi million naira Yariman Bakura Specialist Hospital, Gusau; We have upgraded some Primary Health Centres across the state to the status of General Hospitals. This is in addition to construction of additional structures for the hospitals at Maru, Talata Mafara and Bakura; Our administration has rehabilitated some federal roads stretching over 222.5 kilometres across the state within the past 2 years. These roads are: Mayanchi- Anka- Daki Takwas- Gummi to Sokoto border; Gusau- Kasuwar Daji- Kaura Namoda- Dauran- Zurmi- Gidan Jaja We have constructed a number of road networks across the state: 75.9 kilometre Wanke- Danjibga- Kucheri road; 128 kilometre Magami- Dan Gulbi- Dan Kurmi- Sabon Birni- Bagega- Anka road; 75 kilometre Talata Mafara- Rini- Janbako- Boko road; 42 kilometre Tashar Awwali- Kagara- Garbadu- Sauna- Talata Mafara road; 11 Kilometre, Yandoto- Shemori- Mada road; 14.5 Gummi -Fass road; 33.5 Gummi- Gyalange- Bardoki- Gayari; Equally, under the State and Local Governments Joint Account we have embarked upon the construction of township roads across all the 14 Local Government Areas of the state. A minimum of 20 kilometres would be constructed in each Local Government. This is in addition to the urban roads already executed in Gusau and Talata Mafara. 8.
