Jordan Eareckson Murray, 32, father of three, known by his students as Rabbi Yaakov, taught first and second grade at the Torah Day School, on South Ferdinand Street in Columbia City, Seattle, and, reportedly, groped two female students, ages 6 and 7, after putting them on his lap behind his desk, in front of other students.

He was arrested May 3 and spent close to 48 hours in the King County Jail before posting a $100,000 bond, according to jail and court records.

Formal charges were filed last week, accusing Murray of touching the two girls under their clothes numerous times since the middle of the school year. Other students were unaware of the behavior because Murray’s desk blocked their view, according to the charges.

Here’s how the evidence against Muray was collected:

The two alleged victims were playing together at the younger girl’s house and told the girl’s 12-year-old sister, also a student at the Torah Day School, that “Rabbi Murray puts his hands in their pants,” according to the charges, which note that the two younger girls “were scared” and confused and didn’t know why it was happening.

If it was happening.

The 12-year-old sister brought the girls to her mother, and they disclosed the alleged abuse, according to the charges.

The 12-year-old had baby-sat Murray’s children in the past, according to reports.

In other words, the arrest was made based on the testimony of a 12-year-old babysitter’s hearsay from a 6- and a 7-year-old.

The Seattle Police Department received two referrals from Child Protective Services on April 23 and launched an investigation, the papers say.

Murray declined to speak with investigators, which means he’s getting good legal advice.

Here’s what Senior Deputy Prosecutor Carol Spoor had to say on the case:

“The defendant is a clear danger to children given the circumstances of this crime where he abused his position of trust as a first- and second-grade teacher, secretly molesting these girls in class in front of others.”

Based on the hearsay testimony of a 12-year old who heard it from her 6-year-old sister and her 7-year-old friend.

I’m not saying the man is innocent—how could I possibly tell? But I’ve been in this business a few years, and when it smells, I can sense it. These cases always depend on the quality of police investigation, most importantly: how much of the information came voluntarily from the child witness, and how much did the interrogating detective feed her.

Children do not have a developed sense of right and wrong, children have magical thinking, children are incapable of reasoning the way adults do. It’s extremely tough for experts in the field to get untainted information from children, because children are constantly on the lookout for cues as to what the adult wants them to say.

Here’s something about the quality of the detective work in this case:

Seattle Detective Michael Moore told the court that a 6-year-old girl had told him that after she approached Murray to show him her school work, Murray put her on his lap and shoved his hands down her pants while he was seated behind his desk. As he did so, Murray stared at the girl’s school work as though he was reading it, Moore continued. The detective added that the rest of the first-grade class was unaware Murray was groping the child.

Having spent two years of my life in the first and the second grades (one year each), I’m trying to imagine a situation whereby a teacher manages to pull off that feat of depravity with no one noticing.Of course, as is common in these cases, which often turn out to be nothing more than mass hysteria, once the news spreads about the alleged molestation by a rabbi, local children suddenly remember having been abused by the same man.The chilling documentary, Capturing the Friedmans, shows one such case, where an entire family was destroyed by mass hysteria, spun by confused children, frightened parents, and shoddy work, even, possibly, lies, of the detectives of the Great Neck PD. In 1988, one of the family members, Jesse Friedman, was coerced into pleading guilty to some incredible and imaginary crimes of child sexual abuse, and sentenced to 18 years in prison. In July, 2010, the Federal Second Circuit Court of Appeals said there was “a reasonable likelihood” that Jesse Friedman was wrongfully convicted.In the Seattle case, another 6-year-old has already come up with a description of sitting on Murray’s lap or standing between his legs, and said other girls in her class also sat on his lap, according to the charges. Murray was fired following the allegations. According to Dan Donohoe, spokesman for King County Prosecutor Dan Satterberg, he does not have a criminal history. Originally, the police told the press that Murray had a criminal record in another state, but then they issued a retraction.

With other accusers stepping forward, a former yeshiva teacher changed pleas Monday in the middle of his trial, admitting he sexually abused a boy he met while working as a camp counselor.

Rabbi Yoself Kolko, 36, shifted uncomfortably on the stand as he pleaded guilty to aggravated sexual assault, attempted aggravated sex assault, sexual assault and child endangerment. The abuse occurred from August 2008 to February 2009. It ranged from fondling to oral sex and stopped when the boy told his father, who confronted Kolko.

The change in plea came after the prosecutor's office was contacted Friday by a representative for a woman who said she had been a victim of Kolko and a man who said he had a victim, Senior Assistant Prosecutor Laura Pierro said.

The case may be a watershed for the prosecutor's office and the Orthodox Jewish community in Lakewood, which has in the past been reluctant to bring criminal matters to civil authorities, preferring instead to handle them through rabbinical courts and senior rabbis.

"I'm hoping that it's going to open the doors" to others in the community cooperating with authorities, Pierro said in an interview after the plea. "We broke ground with this case."

Prosecutors said they would not pursue the other two cases.

Kolko's bail was revoked, and he was ordered to undergo psychiatric evaluation before sentencing.

His attorney, Michael Bachner, said Kolko was "extremely remorseful," apologizes to the victim and hopes after treatment "to return to society as a benefit to it."

The plea came after only three of the prosecution's eight witnesses testified. The senior rabbi the father approached was due to testify, as were other members of the insular community who were expected to shed light on internal workings of Lakewood's Orthodox population and how such allegations were handled inside it.

When Judge Francis R. Hodgson asked Kolko if he had received any promises or was threatened or coerced in exchange for his plea, Kolko answered softly that there were things that were "not part of the court system."

Bachner would not comment on Kolko's statement.

The victim's father had initially wanted the case handled within Lakewood's Orthodox community, asking a senior rabbi to help ensure that Kolko stay away from children and go to therapy. In mid-2009, the father decided to take the case to authorities.

The Associated Press generally does not identify accusers in sex-crime cases and is not naming the father to protect the son's identity.

Testifying last week, the father said he went to prosecutors because he felt the case was not being handled appropriately. Kolko was still teaching and planning to work at the summer camp where he met the boy.

"I was more concerned that he was still at his jobs," the father said Thursday. "And I felt that children are being endangered."

The father acknowledged it is not common for members of the Orthodox community to take cases like this to law enforcement.

Prosecutors had said the boy's family was ostracized by the community for pursuing the case in state court. The boy's father, a prominent rabbi, lost his job and the family moved to Michigan.

"There certainly were members of the community who remain outspoken against what the father did on behalf of his son," Pierro said. "I can tell you that there are many more whom are perhaps silently or not as openly are swelled with pride that he took this rather historic step."

The boy, who was 11 and 12 when the abuse took place, testified last week, describing a series of encounters with the rabbi, including molestation and oral sex.

The boy, now 16, said he was uncomfortable but wanted to remain close to Kolko because they were friends and the boy had no other companions in school.

Pierro commended the boy's and his father's bravery.

Ocean County Prosecutor Joseph Coronato said that in "securing justice for the victim," prosecutors "have proven our ability to successfully intercede on their community's behalf, affording them the same protections under the law we so tirelessly apply to all Ocean County's citizens."

"We will make every effort to assure this is a major step toward a continuing relationship with Ocean County's religious communities," he said.

Kolko faced a maximum penalty of 50 years in prison and a $650,000 fine, but the judge said he will likely cap one count at 15 years and run sentences on any other counts concurrently.

A recent ad in the Brooklyn-based, Yiddish-language Di Tzeitung newspaper boasts a use for the city’s most ubiquitous bird as a cure for warts.

The ad recommends that the bird blood be poured onto the offensive skin growth, left for an hour and then washed off. In two or three weeks, “with God’s help, there is no memory thereof.”

The woman who placed the ad told The Post her daughter had a wart on her hand that disappeared after the treatment.

“I did this to help people,” she said. “You go to the market, you buy a pigeon, and the blood goes on the wart. That’s it.”

The woman said she has no connection to the Wallabout Street poultry market in Brooklyn that the ad plugs and only went there because no one in her ultra-Orthodox Jewish community would perform the treatment on her daughter.

One caveat, she said — the cure only works on Jews: “Gentiles are not capable of taking this.”

The ad ruffled the feathers of some in the Orthodox community, who said that it would likely be an object of ridicule. “This isn’t for every Tom, Dick or Harry,” said one area rabbi. “It’s like a talisman — something that helps you, but you don’t know why.”

And pigeon advocates were appalled, too.

“It’s meshuggeneh,” said Anna Dove, who runs the People for the Preservation of Pigeons Facebook page.

An Orthodox Jewish school in Brooklyn has forbidden thick-framed retro glasses favored by the likes of Woody Allen.

“We are asking that everyone buy simple glasses,” reads a letter written in Yiddish that was recently issued to parents of students at Borough Park’s Bobover Yeshiva B’Nei Zion, which caters to members of the Bobov sect.

“What we have to commit ourselves to is we have to stand on top of this and not tolerate the new modernism.”

Students at the 48th Street school, which serves Grades 4 through 12, plus older rabbinical students, had been taking a shine to thick-framed and multicolored glasses.

“The good deed that accompanied the Jews in Egypt was that they didn’t change their names and clothes, and this same strength is still accompanying us and maintaining us in exile — in all generations,” explains the letter, which calls for traditional garb and was posted by the blog Failed Messiah.

School officials admit there’s no easy way to head off trends in specs, since styles fluctuate so much.

Still, the thick frames — often seen on celebs such as LeBron James and Justin Timberlake — “give the child a very coarse look,” the letter says.

“It doesn’t matter what age — a student cannot come to yeshiva with these glasses,” the letter reads.

Parents are asked to exchange the “immodest” frames and told that the expense should be viewed as an “educational boost.”

Lumiere Eyewear, a local optical shop, said it has already exchanged 30 pairs in just two weeks.

School officials recently descended on another local eyewear shop, MS Optical, to inspect its wares, an employee told The Post.

“They basically said these are the Hasidic ones — and those are not,” the employee said.

The store keeps its “acceptable” glasses — frameless, semi-rimless — in a separate display, far away from bolder styles.

Students — all wearing plain, wire-framed glasses — said they support the edict.

“What one kid does, another will copy. The school doesn’t want a domino effect,” said Nafle Frank. “Style is not a sin, but the culture is to stay away from new things and to keep them the way they were.”

He joked that the two Satmar grand rabbis — Aaron and Zalman Teitelbaum — have been wearing hipster glasses for the past 35 years.

“Now they look up to date,” he said.

IRS targeted Jewish Groups, and questioned them about Israel

The passionately pro-Israel organization Z STREET filed a lawsuit against the IRS, claiming it had been told by an IRS agent that because the organization was “connected to Israel,” its application for tax-exempt status would receive additional scrutiny. This admission was made in response to a query about the lengthy reveiw of Z STREET’s tax exempt status application.
In addition, the IRS agent told a Z STREET representative that the applications of some of those Israel-related organizations have been assigned to “a special unit in the D.C. office to determine whether the organization’s activities contradict the Administration’s public policies.” . . .
And at least one purely religious Jewish organization, one not focused on Israel, was the recipient of bizarre and highly inappropriate questions about Israel. Those questions also came from the same non-profit division of the IRS at issue for inappropriately targeting politically conservative groups. The IRS required that Jewish organization to state “whether [it] supports the existence of the land of Israel,” and also demanded the organization “[d]escribe [its] religious belief system toward the land of Israel.”

A former yeshiva teacher is on trial in New Jersey on charges he sexually abused a socially awkward boy whose family members, prosecutors say, were ostracized by their Orthodox Jewish community for taking the allegations to civil authorities.

Rabbi Yosef Kolko, 39, met the boy in 2007 at religious school-run summer camp in Lakewood where he was a counselor. The boy was 11 at the time, and authorities say abuse continued until early 2009.

Kolko has denied the charges, which include sexual assault and child endangerment.

The boy’s father, a rabbi, testified Thursday that during a car ride back from his son’s therapist office, the boy said he had been sexually abused.

said, he called Kolko. The two met and the father told Kolko he needed to attend therapy and stop working with children. The father wanted to bring the matter to a group of rabbis who had “experience dealing with these issues,” he said, and did not intend to make the allegations public. The father recorded the conversation at his wife’s urging.

Kolko did not dispute the allegations, the father said. At one point Kolko told the father he had nothing to say to him, which the father took as an admission as guilt, something Kolko’s lawyer disputed.

Later, the father and Kolko went to the home of a prominent Lakewood rabbi, where the father said Kolko was contrite and looked “close to tears.” The father said the rabbi took the allegations seriously.

The boy’s father wanted to bring the matter to a rabbinical court. After a few months he was unsatisfied with how the case was being handled and that Kolko was not following his recommendations and still teaching. After hearing Kolko was planning to return to the summer camp, the father called the head of the camp and Kolko, who told him to talk to a Brooklyn rabbi.

“I was more concerned that he was still at his jobs,” the father said. “And I felt that children are being endangered.”

In July 2009, the father decided to bring the case to Ocean County prosecutors. He said that if the allegations had been dealt with appropriately through rabbinical channels, he probably would not have gone to the police.

“Going to law enforcement is not, at this time, common within the Orthodox Jewish community. Even when it’s necessary it’s considered unusual,” the father testified. “Particularly with some people who might believe that the alleged molester is innocent would give the person going to law enforcement a very hard time.’

Prosecutors said the family was ostracized by the Orthodox Jewish community.

A flier was circulated in Lakewood, a community with a large Orthodox Jewish community, saying the boy’s father had made a mockery of the Torah and committed a “terrible deed” by taking the case to state prosecutors, the Asbury Park Press reported.

The family has since moved to Michigan.

The boy’s former therapist also testified Thursday, saying the boy told her in late 2008 he no longer needed help with his social skills because he had made a new friend, Rabbi Kolko.

“He’s my best friend. He’s the only one who understands me,” Dr. Tsipora Koslowitz recounted the boy telling her.

The boy took the witness stand Wednesday on the first day of the trial, testifying how he wanted to remain close to Kolko, even though his actions made him uncomfortable, because Kolko was his friend and he had no friends in school or camp.

The boy described a series of encounters with the rabbi, who would pick him up in his car, including molestation and oral sex and occurring in such locations as an empty classroom, a storage room, Kolko’s car and the basement of a synagogue, the newspaper reported.

Yated Ne’eman, the haredi daily newspaper that serves as a mouthpiece for ‘mainstream’ non-hasidic haredi leadership, published a column today comparing Israel’s Minister of Finance Yair Lapid to Adolf Hitler, the Israeli haredi website Shtieble.net reported.

Written by the paper’s former editor, Chaim Walder, who is now a regular columnist, the column says that what Lapid is doing now by cutting government support of haredi schools that refuse to teach the country’s core curriculum and by his demand that haredi yeshiva students be drafted into the military resembles what Hitler did to the Jews in the Holocaust.

"Why do they hate us, why despise us, why is it that in all the surveys haredim are the most hated, why is it that Yair Lapid[’s party] got any - so many [Knesset] seats in January’s election?”

Walder then quotes Adolph Hitler for his answer.

“We will have to solve the Jewish question. [We must cause the Jews to abandon] the notion that the Creator of the World chose the Jews, and therefore it is their right to be parasites that feed on the bodies of other productive citizens. Jews must adapt to real and productive work just as other citizens do, if not, we will sooner or later face a crisis whose dimensions are immeasurable. If the Jewish money and power continues in Europe or elsewhere - it will lead to civil war, then the result will not be the victory of Jewry, but the destruction of the Jews across Europe,” Walder wrote.

Walder does qualifies his comments a little, saying that the intent of Lapid and his allies is "not to physically destroy haredim.”

Instead, Walder wrote that Lapid and his allies want to destroy haredim in other ways through other means.

“[Lapid and his allies] have malicious intent when it comes to quality of life, ability to lead a normal life and in giving us basic rights, such as allowances, discounts, property tax, income support, food for the children, after-school programs, day care centers, education - there are even those who speak of taking away our freedom to vote, or of forcing us to leave Israel. [Lapid’s policies are] dictatorship at its best.”

Walder then cited a column Lapid wrote two years ago to defend his comparison of Lapid and Hitler.

"Forget ideology, forget about that I do not understand how it does not bother you [haredim] that you that you live at my expense, but I do not have the ability to pay for it all.…Not only for your kids but I have to give to my children, too. Do you realize how it makes me feel? We must find a way, my [haredi] friend, or it will end badly. What does it say in [Megillat] Ta’anit: Friendship or death,” Lapid allegedly wrote.

"Now tell you tell me what the difference is [between Lapid and Hitler] in that final sentence?" Walder asked.

Frum children's card game curses all Israelis

Children in Jerusalem, Israel have begun playing with a new card game which lists curses against all Israelis.

The apparently new hot item is circling around the Meah Shearim neighborhood of Jerusalem. The anti Zionist card game lists quotes against Zionism from ultra-Orthodox Jewish rabbis.

The game is divided in four categories. One category lists Jewish people who were allegedly murdered by the evil Zionists.

Another category shows portraits of many ultra-Orthodox Jewish rabbis along with quotes cursing all Israelis. The Chafetz Chaim is quoted one of the cards: "For me it is clear that the Zionists are the seed of Amalek." Satmar rabbi is quoted on another card as saying: "There is no doubt that the Kingdom of heresy will be burned to the ground before the coming of the messiah." Belzer rabbi is quoted on another card as saying: "Every Jew should pray to God everyday to destroy the Zionists and the Israeli settlers."

A local resident explained that the game was distributed in thousands of packages for the children in the neighborhood. "The goal is to introduce the anti Zionist ideology to children through a game, and teach them from a young age to hate Zionists," a Meah Shearim resident who declined to give his name, told YourJewishNews.com.

“The government should confiscate all these card games and burn them in one large fire. The manufacturers of this card game should be arrested and charged with inciting violence related charges and conspiracy to commit murder as a hate crime. What normal person gives a child a game that calls to murder innocent men women and children?” Frank Scott, 40, of Long Island, New York told YourJewishNews.com after learning about the disgusting card game.

Palestinian imprisoned in Israel converts to Judaism, to join the Israeli military

In a truly amazing turnaround, a Palestinian man, who was imprisoned in Israel on terror related charges, converted to Judaism, and is now ready to join the Israeli military.

This is probably a story that can happen only in Israel. The Palestinian converted to Judaism, joined the ultra-Orthodox Jewish community, received Israeli citizenship, and wants to join the Israeli Army. The former Palestinian, married a Jewish woman, and studies in a yeshiva in Jerusalem, Israel. Today he said: "Thank God I'm a Jew. I wake up every morning and bless God for that."

Yaniv Eliasaf, was born as Boosman, in a Palestinian city near Nablus. He spent 11 years in an Israeli prison. When he was released, he burst into tears because he had nowhere to go. He wrapped himself in a prayer shawl and put a skullcap on his head, because during his imprisonment he converted to Judaism. The danger of death hovered over him, because his fellow Palestinians considered him as a collaborator with Israel, and in Israel he was Palestinian.

Two years ago, when the checkpoint Brigadier General learned of Yaniv, he was granted entry into Israel. For the past two years he has lived in Israel with temporary status, he works odd jobs and deals mainly with the study of Torah. He seeks to establish his home in Israel, and he wants full citizenship.

He said that he is ready to join the army, and if they sent him to Nablus, his birthplace, he will fulfill all orders. A few months ago, he returned to Nablus as a Jew, and went to Joseph's Tomb. Yaniv's story is almost unbelievable. This story teaches more than anything the complexities of life in Israel and Palestine.

“This is an amazing heartwarming story, as this man went from a person that sought to destroy as many Jews as possible to a practicing Jew. Not only that, he will soon join the Israeli Army and fight against his former brothers, very inspiring,” Larry Brown, 61, of Dallas, Texas told YourJewishNews.com after learning about Yaniv.

Jewish 97 year old dies leaving 41 million to no one!

A 97 year-old Staten Island real estate developer and Holocaust victim has left behind an estate valued at $40M with no apparent will, no surviving blood relatives, and no known heirs.

The NEW YORK TIMES (http://nyti.ms/11ONB1h) is reporting that Roman Blum, who died in 2012, had only a former wife, who died in 1992, and that his unclaimed estate becomes the largest on record in the history of the state.

Blum and his wife, Eva, were both Holocaust survivors who came to the U.S. and settled in Forest Hills, Queens, in 1949.

The Public Administrator’s office assigned to handle Mr. Blum’s estate on behalf of the Richmond County Surrogate Court is in the process of liquidating Blum’s many properties, and also plans to use money from the state to fund an in-depth search for a will, as well as hire a genealogist in hopes of finding relatives.

Failure by the county to successfully find an heir would result in Mr. Bum’s estate eventually being turned over the the state’s comptroller’s office.

Longtime friends and associates of Blum have called it “odd” that a shrewd business man like Blum would die without leaving a will, and are hoping that either Blum or his former wife have a distant relative back in Europe.

The Chechen immigrant brothers who bombed the Boston Marathon were devout Muslims who appeared to become more radicalized in recent months — posting Islamic “jihad” videos on social-media sites and following the preachings of a firebrand cleric.

But the men’s motive for Monday’s massacre — which killed three and maimed more than 170 others — remained a mystery as the younger brother, college student Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, 19, was taken into custody last night.

GRATITUDE: Relieved residents of the Boston suburb of Watertown applaud departing law-enforcement officials last night after the surviving bomber was taken into custody.

He was captured after a nearly two-hour standoff and shootout with cops after he hid out in a boat stored in a back yard in Watertown, a Boston suburb.

His brother, Tamerlan Tsarnaev, 26, was fatally shot yesterday morning after cops said the pair executed an MIT campus cop, carjacked a man in his Mercedes SUV, then fired assault rifles and lobbed pipe bombs and a grenade at pursuing police.

Dzhokhar escaped on foot after running over his mortally wounded brother with an SUV — triggering an unprecedented lockdown of Boston and its surrounding suburbs.

Among yesterday’s rapid developments:

* Three people were taken into custody in New Bedford “on the assumption there is an affiliation with suspect Number 2,” said Lt. Robert Richard of the New Bedford Police.

Dozens of cops swarmed the neighborhood, detaining two young men and a woman, and evacuating neighboring apartments, witnesses said.

* Authorities found multiple assembled pipe bombs in the brothers’ Cambridge apartment, where investigators planned to carry out a “controlled explosion” to make the residence safe to enter.

They also found other explosives linked to the brothers elsewhere, including unexploded pipe bombs along the chase route.

* It emerged that the FBI had interviewed Tamerlan about his “extremist views,” but then closed the case.

Tamerlan was interviewed by the FBI in 2009 after authorities in Russia said he was a “radical,” according to sources. When G-men asked Tamerlan whether he was a radical, he replied “no,” a source said.

* Their father, Anzor, was interviewed by the FBI in 2001 for taking pictures of the Manhattan skyline after the 9/11 attacks.

* Their mother, Zubeidat, speaking from their native Russia, said, “My sons would never do this. It is a set-up” — and bizarrely claimed that Tamerlan “was controlled by the FBI . . . for three to five years.”

* The brothers’ uncle Ruslan Tsarni, speaking on TV, called both the men “losers” of whom he was “ashamed,” and urged, “Dzhokhar, if you are alive, turn yourself in and ask for forgiveness.”

Tsarni said the brothers struggled to adjust to American life during their decade living here, but ended up “just hating everyone.”

* Authorities searched the West New York, NJ, apartment of one of the suspects’ sisters.

* The Boston Red Sox and Boston Bruins postponed their games to keep people off the street as the search for Dzhokhar continued.

The events capped a dramatic week that began when two homemade bombs exploded seconds apart — about 100 yards from each other — near the finish line of the Boston Marathon on Monday.

The explosions’ three fatalities included an 8-year-old boy, Martin Richard. Multiple people lost limbs in the blast, including two brothers who each lost a leg.

For three days, authorities scrambled to discover who had planted and ignited the two bombs — and sifted through thousands of videos and photos they obtained from surveillance cameras and private individuals’ snapshots and smartphones.

On Thursday afternoon, the FBI for the first time released video and still images of two unidentified men, both wearing baseball caps and walking swiftly with backpacks toward the locations where the bombs were left.

An image showed the man who had been wearing a white baseball hat backward walking calmly away after the explosions — without his backpack.

That man was later identified as Dzhohkar, and his black-hat-wearing companion as his brother, Tamerlan.

He was seen leaving the scene as panicked spectators scrambled from the smoke-filled scene on Boylston Street.

The FBI released these surveillance photos of the suspects Thursday.

Hours after their images went viral on the Internet — setting off a flurry of tips to authorities — police said the brothers began their rampage by killing MIT campus cop Sean Collier and carjacking an unidentified man who the took them to multiple ATMs to get money from his account.

“Tell the police that we did the bombing,” the brothers told that man, according to a source.

The running firefight the AK-47-toting brothers started in suburban Watertown with cops stunned residents who cowered in their houses. In addition to firing, the brothers flung homemade bombs at the cops.

The brothers’ father echoed his wife when he spoke to reporters from the Russian republic of Dagestan, saying that his sons were “set up — they were set up!”

And he called Dzhohkar “a true angel.”

But Boston Police Commissioner Ed David had something much different to say about Dzhohkar yesterday.

“We believe this man to be a terrorist,” David said. “We believe this to be a man who’s come here to kill people.”

Two Orthodox men have been charged with harassment.

Samuel Erlanger and Shlomo Feldman will appear in court next month.

They were arrested in January as part of an ongoing investigation which saw Golders Green rabbi Chaim Halpern questioned in February in connection with alleged sexual assault and perverting the course of justice.

Rabbi Halpern, head of the Divrei Chaim Synagogue, has not been charged and denies all allegations of wrongdoing.

Mr Erlanger, 38, of Powis Gardens, Golders Green, faces one charge of harassment in relation to incidents alleged to have taken place between December 25 last year and January 23 this year.

He has been bailed to appear at Hendon Magistrates' Court on May 2.

Mr Feldman, 29, of Lynmouth Road, Stamford Hill, faces three charges of harassment without violence. He will appear at the same court on May 15.

The men were charged today at Colindale police station.

Dascalowitz admits to raping 15 year old

An Orthodox Jewish man accused of raping a young Brooklyn boy in a ritual bath pleaded guilty today in an agreement that will likely get him five years in prison when he is sentenced.

Meir Dascalowitz, 29, had faced 32 counts of felony and misdemeanor sex abuse but pleaded guilty to just one count of sexual abuse in the second degree.

“Do you admit that you … engaged in anal sexual conduct with a person who was less than 15 years old?” Judge Joseph Gubbay asked Dascalowitz, who answered, “Yes.”

The victim’s father joyfully held up his hands in court as the plea was announced.

“I’m very happy my son got justice. To go through a trial would have been very difficult for a mentally-disabled boy,” said father Mordechai Jungreis, who was exiled from his Orthodox community for reporting the abuse to outside authorities.

“I was shunned in the community. I’m happy to show the community that the game is over. If you do the crime, then you need to do the time.”

At least two people are dead and dozens injured – including up to 10 with amputated limbs – after two bombs tore through the finish line of the Boston Marathon and another exploded near a Boston library, according to the Boston Police Department.

Authorities were guarding a person of interest at a local hospital, sources told FoxNews.com. The person had severe burns, but authorities had not determined whether the person was a victim or a perpetrator. The FBI, which was treating the bombing as a terrorist investigation, was analyzing video from several area surveillance cameras.

The simultaneous explosions just before 3 p.m., another blast several miles away more than an hour later, and reports of two other unexploded devices found near the scene raised suspicions of a terrorist attack. Authorities shut down cellular service in the area in order to prevent remote detonations. Intelligence officials told The Associated Press two unexploded devices were being dismantled, and a third explosion near the JFK Library in the Columbia Point section of Dorchester. Competitors and race organizers were crying as they fled the bloody chaos, while some witnesses reported seeing victims with lost limbs.

"Somebody's leg flew by my head," a spectator, who gave his name as John Ross, told the Boston Herald. “I gave my belt to stop the blood.”

The first two explosions occurred at 2:50 p.m. – nearly five hours after the marathon began – about 50 to 100 yards apart, according to Boston Police Commissioner Edward Davis. The third explosion occurred several miles southeast of the marathon's finish line, at around 4:15 p.m. Police could not say if it was related to the earlier explosions.

Witnesses heard booms that sounded like two claps of thunder near the finish line inside the Fairmount Copley Plaza Hotel, according to multiple local reports. The horror unfolded as the city marked the 238th annual Patriot's Day, commemorating the anniversary of the Battles of Lexington and Concord at the beginning of the Revolutionary War.

Video of the scene showed a number of emergency crews in the area tending to victims and blood on the ground near the finish line.

"I saw two explosions. The first one was beyond the finish line. I heard a loud bang and I saw smoke rising," Boston Herald reporter Chris Cassidy, who was running in the marathon, told the newspaper. "I kept running and I heard behind me a loud bang. It looked like it was in a trash can or something...There are people who have been hit with debris, people with bloody foreheads.”

"There are a lot of people down," said one man, whose bib No. 17528 identified him as Frank Deruyter of North Carolina. He was not injured, but marathon workers were carrying one woman, who did not appear to be a runner, to the medical area as blood gushed from her leg. A Boston police officer was wheeled from the course with a leg injury that was bleeding.

About three hours after the winners crossed the line, there was a loud explosion on the north side of Boylston Street, just before the photo bridge that marks the finish line. Another thunderous explosion could be heard a few seconds later.

Runner Laura McLean of Toronto said she heard two explosions outside the medical tent.

"There are people who are really, really bloody," McLean said. "They were pulling them into the medical tent."

Cherie Falgoust was waiting for her husband, who was running the race. "I was expecting my husband any minute," she said. "I don't know what this building is ... it just blew. Just a big bomb, a loud boom, and then glass everywhere. Something hit my head. I don't know what it was. I just ducked."

Authorities in New York, meanwhile, are deploying counter-terrorism vehicles around landmark sites in Manhattan, including prominent hotels, according to the New York City Police Department.

Nearly 25,000 people, including runners from around the world, competed in Boston's celebrated 26.2-mile race, attracting huge throngs of onlookers, especially near the finish line.

"This is a horrific day in Boston," Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick said in a statement. "My thoughts and prayers are with those who have been injured. I have been in touch with the President, Mayor [Thomas] Menino and our public safety leaders. Our focus is on making sure that the area around Copley Square is safe and secured. I am asking everyone to stay away from Copley Square and let the first responders do their jobs."

12 Year old Shoshana Stern killed in Boca Raton

A 12-year-old Orthodox girl was killed Sunday night after she was hit by a car while riding on a skateboard in suburban Boca Raton.

Palm Beach Post is reporting (http://bit.ly/10XyL7M) that Shoshana R. Stern of suburban Boca Raton was standing on the southeast corner of West Palmetto Park Road and Boca Del Mar Drive just after 7 p.m. Sunday night. While pedaling on her skateboard in the crosswalk, Stern then crossed West Palmetto Park Road from the south side to the north side, according to a Palm Beach County Sheriff’s report.

At the same time, Marvin S. James IV, 24, was driving a 2005 Ford Mustang west on West Palmetto Park Road approaching the intersection. While entering the intersection, James’ vehicle hit Stern.

Both the Mustang and Stern came to rest on the west side of the intersection.

James and his passenger 23-year-old Maryanne E. Diener, both of suburban West Palm Beach, were not injured in the crash. Both were wearing seat belts, the report says.

Stern died at the scene.

Satmar Rebbe Aaron Teitelbaum this week lashed out at attempts to draft yeshiva students and advance an equal share of the burden in Israel, calling them "a decree worse than the annihilation of the Jewish people."

He went on to accuse the supporters of the move of being "worse than those who murdered us."

The rabbi made the remarks on the eve of Holocaust Remembrance Day. It is unlikely, however, that he was aware that Israel was commemorating the memory of the six million Jews murdered by the Nazis that day.

The Rebbe, one of the leaders of the world's biggest Hasidic community, spoke to thousands of followers in the village of Kiryas Joel in Monroe, New York, during an event marking the anniversary of his father's death.

He said that those working to draft yeshiva students were actually seeking to "cause us to leave religion."

"A black cloud is hanging these days over our brothers, the people of Israel living in the Holy Land," the rabbi said. "A malicious government has convened… and is seeking to uproot the Torah.

"We, in the Diaspora, must be prepared for the moment when we will have to rise up with all our might against this terrible decree so that it is not executed, God forbid."

The radical ultra-Orthodox leaders appear to be sharpening their tone against the IDF draft recently. The other Satmar Rebbe, Rabbi Yekutiel Yehuda Teitelbaum, who visited Israel on the eve of the Knesset elections, stating that "the draft decree aims to make us forget all the other troubles Zionism has inflicted on us. We must fight it uncompromisingly so that such ideas won't even cross their minds."

He referred to the State of Israel and its Zionist residents as "the generation's Amalek," adding that "the Zionists came from the seed of Amalek. There has never been such a sect that caused so much damage to the Jewish people."

About 10 months ago, Rabbi Shmuel Auerbach spoke at aprotest organized by the Eda Haredit faction, stating that opposition to enlistment should be regarded a mitzvah that warrants self sacrifice.

A picture of an Orthodox Jew encased in a giant plastic bag is causing some debate on the Internet this week, as commenters attempt to explain the man's unusual traveling garb.

Redditor "FinalSay" posted the picture of the man early Thursday morning to the r/atheism subreddit, with the caption, "An Orthodox Jew in an airplane with women - so he covers himself with a plastic bag..."

Ultra-Orthodox Jews adhere to a strict set of guidelines that include gender segregation in public. In fact, Haaretz reports that Israeli airline El Al has noticed an increase in the number of ultra-Orthodox men asking to switch seats to avoid sitting next to women. (One woman even sued the airlines for allegedly moving her to the back of a plane after ultra-Orthodox men refused to sit next to her.)

However, netizens were quick to point out that the "flying with women" explanation may not be entirely accurate.

"This has nothing to do with women," user "thenewyorkgod" wrote. "He is a cohen,' descendant from the high holy priests of the temple and they are not allowed to walk into or fly over a cemetery, which would render them impure."

Indeed, there seems to be some precedent for holy men (alternately known as a Kohen or Cohen) attempting to travel in plastic bags to and from Israel.

In 2001, El Al Airlines decided not to allow ultra-Orthodox Jews of priestly descent to "hermetically seal themselves in plastic bags when flying over the Holon cemetery in order to avoid ritual impurity."

El Al stated "flight safety considerations do not allow for passengers to board while covered in sealed plastic bags."

Still, the paper reported that in 2002 a flight crew got into a heated dispute with anultra-Orthodox passenger who attempted to fly wrapped in plastic, according to Haaretz. The confrontation eventually led the pilot to turn the plane around.

Friends of slain Beachwood nurse Aliza Sherman gather downtown to offer reward, keep alive her memory

A crowd of about 80 of Aliza Sherman’s friends and family gathered near the site of the Beachwood woman’s murder to not only announce a reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of her killer, but also to keep alive her memory.
Emotions ran high the morning of April 9 as those assembled remembered Sherman, 53, near the downtown Cleveland Erieview Tower parking garage off East 12th Street where an assailant stabbed her 11 times.
“We have to raise community awareness for our beautiful friend, Aliza,” said Mary Feuer, a Beachwood resident who knew Sherman 22 years.
Sherman was in the midst of divorcing husband, Sanford, a divorce that had dragged on nearly three years. Sherman had just had a meeting with her divorce lawyer when she was attacked in the garage at about 5:30 p.m. March 24.
Police have released no further statements pertaining to the investigation.
“We’re not going to let this go,” Feuer said, her voice cracking with emotion. “We can’t sleep.
Jan Lash met Aliza Sherman 28 years ago when they took Lamaze class together. Lash considered Sherman her best friend and said Sherman called her from Cedar Road hill on the way to her final visit with her lawyer.
“Whoever did this is a monster and doesn’t have a soul,” said Lash, of Solon. “I’ll never be the same.
“I talked to her every day. It was an awful divorce. She apologized to me for being so down.”
Sherman was the mother of four, ages 28, 25, 23 and 17, and was known for her deep Jewish faith and love of animals.
“I have a lot of sadness for her children who are suffering so much,” Feuer said. Then, speaking to anyone who might know something about the murder, Feuer said, “Please step forward and do the right thing.”

Dr. Hanna Lisbona, of Pepper Pike, met Sherman when Lisbona began her residency 30 years ago at Mt. Sinai Hospital. Lisbona and Sherman also worked together at Cleveland Clinic, where Sherman was an in vitro fertilization nurse at the time of her death.
“She was a wonderful person,” Lisbona said. “I learned a lot from here. We all did.
“She always knew how to say thank you, to make you feel good. She was very considerate, gentle and loving.”
Lisbona said she was in Israel when she learned through text messages of her friend’s death.
“My sister lives in Washington, D.C., and when I told my sister about what happened, she knew immediately who I was talking about when I said Aliza because I talked about her so much.”
The Friends of Aliza Sherman have raised $23,000 in reward money. Crime Stoppers of Cuyahoga County Coordinator David Rutt said that money, added to the $2,000 Crime Stoppers’ reward, means someone could earn up to $25,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the killer.
“They can give us a call and remain anonymous,” Rutt said.
The Crime Stoppers number is 216-252-7463.
“We just want any information,” Lash said. “Somebody knows something, or somebody will brag or talk about doing it. We just want to hear something.”

The Friends of Aliza Sherman have joined with Crime Stoppers of Cuyahoga County in an effort to catch the person or persons responsible for her brutal murder.

The Friends of Aliza Sherman, according to friend Mary Fuery, are offering up to $23,000 and Crime Stoppers is offering up to $2,000, for information leading to the arrest and conviction.
Police have no suspects at this time.
