Jamaica has over the years produced a handful of female groups. But what most lacked were musicianship, great talent, beauty... and versatility. And that’s exactly what all female band Adahzeh is bringing to the table.

The five member outfit comprises Kadian Hamilton (lead vocalist born December 7); Chevanese Palmer (bass guitar born October 2); Karissa Palmer (Keyboard born May 11); Tashana Barnett (drums born April 3); and Tara-Dean Williamson (guitar born September 1).

Dubbed the Kings Daughtaz, Adahzeh is on the rise having impacted many of the live performance showcases across Jamaica. Fans have been left mesmerized with the vocal delivery, astute showmanship and diverse musical offering that the five member outfit has become renown for.

The group was formed in 2013. It started with the vision of Karissa Palmer, the leader of the group who dream't about being part of all female ensemble. This dream slowly became a reality when research was done and possible prospects of the band were found.

The search was conducted in January of 2013 by attending live performances, scouting out
female musicians, making connections with friends who knew female musicians and simply by word of mouth. The search ended June when the five-piece band comprising a lead singer, drummer, bassist, keyboardist and a guitarist was formed.

Whether it’s a lovers rock vibe, or music that stirs the soul into action or even waking up the inner rebel in you, the girls offer that and a whole lot more. They are also working towards bringing the full entertainment package. From the high-class, edgy, trendy appearance, to the creativity and musical ingenuity and to compliment those attributes, there’s the sizzling high-energy performance with choreographed dance movements.

Some of the group’s musical influences include Maroon 5, Shuga Mamas, Rihanna, Beyonce, Jazmine Sullivan, Dubtonic Kru and Tessanne Chin. With a unique sound fusing reggae, dancehall, rhythm and blues, rock and techno, the girls have blended their talents to create something new for the music industry. And they are determined to leave their musical footprints across the globe.

Their goal is to significantly leave a mark in the music industry and to bring positive music to Jamaica and ultimately the world creating a great impact and the motivation to move to greater heights.

using the moniker Chronixx, has ignited a torch in people's hearts the world over and is confidently lighting the path for an entire generation of youths to rediscover roots and culture. Born October 10, 1992, Chronixx was musically nurtured from an early age by his father, the artist Chronicle, and grew up surrounded by the likes of Burro Banton, Norris Man and Gregory Isaacs. This was before 'Little Chronicle' benefited from the mentorship of Danny Browne with whom he recorded his first tune in 2003. His remarkable ascension in the music industry was in full effect when he began harmonizing for artists such as Lutan Fyah and providing production assistance for tracks sung by Konshens, Munga Honorable, Popcaan and others.

Today, Chronixx is a respected artist in his own right after his career was stimulated by the unfortunate passing of both his blood brother in 2007 and his brother-in-arms, Lil' J.O.E., in 2010.Photo ChronixxHe decided during that period of grief to bypass the difficulties of a young producer seeking external talent by, instead, channeling his energy wholeheartedly as a vocalist. Thankfully, early and unwavering support was received from Zincfence Records producer Romaine 'Teflon' Arnett, who was the first to urge Chronixx to sing the lyrics he was writing for others.

The first EP, Hooked on Chronixx, was released in 2010 and immediately put the budding artist on the radar of music lovers and industry heads alike. Among its 7 tracks, 'Start A Fyah,' 'Capitalist' (featuring Infinite) and 'Behind Curtain' stood out as a fan favorites, reaching far beyond Jamaican first official video and served to alert many more to his arrival.

Chronixx toured for the first time in 2013 when he went to Europe with his own band. Soon afterward, he bestowed a name upon this carefully assembled musical crew: Zincfence Redemption. Altogether, their fascinating stage presence has elevated the Chronixx experience to new and ever increasing heights.

Also in 2013, he and his team were Jamaica's only representation in Nairobi, where he performed as a Peace Ambassador ahead of Kenya's general elections. The next year, he found himself in New York City where he participated in a reggae and jazz series together with living legends Ernest Ranglin and Monty Alexander. By this time, Chronixx had established new and renewed working connections with Sly & Robbie, King Jammy, Leroy Sibbles and, again, Danny Browne.

The Dread & Terrible Project was released in April 2014 with seven tracks plus three dub versions, immediately topping both the Billboard and iTunes reggae charts. Neither an album nor an EP, the Project also includes a short film based on one of its tracks, 'Rastaman Wheel Out.' The film was directed by "The Guru" Ras Kassa and has received high critical acclaim. The hit single, 'Here Comes Trouble' can also be found on The Dread & Terrible Project.

With so much accomplished in so short a time, the world is bracing for greater wonders from this young man who walks with an old soul. For Chronixx himself, music is a mission and history is being made everyday still.

They had left the Dub inc. at the top with the album "Outside Control" a big slap musical that had imposed them as the greatest French Reggae band of the last decade. They are found in 2013 with "Paradise", their fifth album, and a status that led them to become one of the most dynamic international groups of the moment. Chardel Rhoden rehearsal Tribute to BBMC's Tjae Ellis RIP

Chardel is not a wannabe. It has taken many years of hard work and dedication to get her to this point. She took her quest for a successful musical career so seriously that she pursued and successfully completed a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Commercial Music at Westminster University. One of her tutors was music academic Mykael Riley, one of the founding members of Steel Pulse. Among the disciplines she learnt were music industry, copyright law, sound engineering, recording techniques performance, stage management, touring and preparing a business plan.

It’s perhaps a safe bet that performance was her strongest module as she distinguished herself in this area at Reggae Star Factor 2014. She is a multi-instrumentalist who plays the guitar, bass, piano, clarinet, recorder and she knows her way around the studio very well having engineered and mixed many of her own recordings and others she has produced.

It is easy to understand why she won the Reggae Star Factor; she has an incredible ability to bring it all together!

Another interesting side to Chardel is her ability to sing in French and Arabic. A world tour with Natacha Atlas helped her to develop those skills and gave her the chance to appear on stages in the Middle East including Lebanon and Turkey, Croatia, France, Netherlands, Belgium, New York, Canada and many other countries.

“It was the most amazing experience for me. I have never had another job that allowed me to use my talents in the ways I did. I even learnt Egyptian dancing. I was the only backing vocalist and I was rapping as well. With Natacha, because she was singing in Arabic, I had to write out the words phonectically and then learn the melody . It sometimes took me a while to understand what I was singing. It was a fascinating experience.”

Chardel is the product of Jamaican parents who met in Harlesden, North West London, where she was born. But the story gets even more interesting. She is the first cousin to hit-making DJ Cutty Ranks. There have been many other musical influences in her family.

All of the wide and varied experiences she has had prepaired her to win Reggae Star Factor. She said: “I wanted to win so bad. I was totally focussed. I had auditioned for the X Factor and the Voice and did not get through and I thought that surely, this must be my time. During the competition every sinew of my body was focused. It was something I had to do.”

Now that she has the official title of Reggae Star Factor Winner 2014,

what’s next for Chardel and what does the longer term future hold?

“In ten years time I would like have at least three successful albums, meaning they have made it to the top 10 internationally. I want to be the UK’s number one reggae artiste and be winning prestigious awards.

Jepther McClymont, Luciano' s real name, is born in Darvey Town, Jamaica He started his musical career by singing to the local church. Then in 1992 he moved to Kingston in order to find a way in the music business. If he is already fan of reggae, Jepther McClymont is inspired by african rhythms and R & B. At this moment he's not yet called Luciano but already works with producers such as Hermann Chin Loy for label Aquarius (which made a reprise of Stevie Wonder and Paul Mac Cartney : Ebony and Ivory ») and other labels like Sky High, Star Trail or Blue Moutain. Besides, Homer Harris from Blue Mountain proposed him the nickname of Luciano. Joseph Cotton aka Jah Walton (born Silbert Walton, 1957, St. Ann, Jamaica) is a reggae deejay active since the mid-1970s.

After spending a year working in the Jamaican police force, Walton turned to recording, initially working with Joe Gibbs in 1976, under the name Jah Walton. He then moved to Harry Mudie, recording popular tracks such as "Stay a Yard and Praise God", "Touch Her Where She Want It Most" (the title track from his debut album), and "Married To A Bank Cashier".In the mid-1980s he began recording under the name Joseph Cotton, immediately having success in the United Kingdom with "No Touch The Style", leading to a television appearance on Channel 4's Club Mix programme in 1987.Several more reggae chart hits followed in the form of "Things Running Slow", "Pat Ha Fe Cook", "Tutoring", "Judge Cotton", and "What Is This". Winston Jarrett (born 14 September 1940) is a Jamaican reggae singer who was part of Alton Ellis's group The Flames in the 1960s before recording with The Righteous Flames and as a solo artist.

Born in 1940 in Lime Tree Gardens, Saint Ann Parish, Jarrett grew up in the Jones Town area of Kingston after moving there with his mother at the age of five. There, he was taught to play guitar by Jimmy Cliff and Alton Ellis. Jarrett's introduction to the music industry was as a member of Alton Ellis's backing band The Flames in the early 1960s, formed when Ellis's original singing partner Eddie Perkins emigrated to the US, singing on hits such as "Dancecrasher", "Cry Tough", "Rocksteady" and "Girl I've Got a Date". While with Ellis he wrote songs such as "Sunday Coming" and "True Born African". In 1967, Jarrett parted ways with the UK-bound Ellis and with fellow Flame Edgar "Egga" Gardner formed The Righteous Flames with Junior Green, and the trio recorded for Arthur "Duke" Reid's Treasure Isle label and then for Clement "Coxsone" Dodd's Studio One label.In 1969 they also recorded for Lee "Scratch" Perry ("Zion I Love You"). In the 1970s, they were generally billed as 'Winston Jarrett and the Righteous Flames'. Among the members of The Righteous Flames was Danny Clarke, who left to form The Meditations in 1974.

In the 1970s, tired of recording for others without receiving adequate payment, Jarrett self-produced much of his output, releasing it on his own Attra, Human Rights and Humble labels. Jarrett recorded as a solo artist in the late 1970s and 1980s, releasing the Wise Man album in 1979 and Rocking Vibration in 1984. Prince Alla aka Prince Allah or Ras Allah (b. Keith Blake, 10 May 1950, Denham Town, Kingston, Jamaica) is a roots reggae singer whose career began in the 1960s, and has continued with a string of releases into the 2000s.

Blake's career began in the vocal group The Leaders with Milton Henry and Roy Palmer, who recorded three tracks for producer Joe Gibbs in the late 1960s.When The Leaders broke up, Blake continued to work with Gibbs, who issued his debut solo release, "Woo Oh Oh". Blake had been interested in the Rastafari movement since he had a vision as a child, and in 1969, Blake's Rastafarian faith saw him get heavily involved in Jamaica's camp community, withdrawing from the music scene and living in Prince Emmanuel Edwards' camp at Bull Bay. He re-entered the music scene in the mid-1970s, releasing a single "Born a Fighter" for producer Teddy Powell, before working with Bertram Brown's Freedom Sounds, with a series of recordings, now under the name Prince Alla, that are now regarded as roots reggae classics, such as "Sun Is Shining", "Bucket Bottom", "Lot's Wife", and "Stone". He also recorded for producer Tapper Zukie, including the album Heaven Is My Roof. Continuing interest in his work saw the release of two albums of material from the 1970s on Blood & Fire records, "Only Love Can Conquer" and "I Can Hear The Children Singing", which brought his work to a new audience. Alla continued to release records occasionally through the 1980s and 1990s, including an album with Jah Shaka. Alla has continued to be in demand with digital roots producers, and has released several albums with the likes of Jah Warrior.

“Too blessed to be stressed,” is one of many key song lyrics from Rebelution’s new album Count Me In. The California band’s fourth full-length release on its own label 87 Music, and partnering for the first time with Easy Star Records, marks its tenth year together. And while surely every band has its share of stress, Rebelution feels they have been “too blessed” to have much time to worry about it.

Said guitarist/singer Eric Rachmany about the band in its decade milestone, “we still have the same energy as we did as a young band, if not more. The more experience we had doing this, the more inspired we became.”

The songs on Count Me In show that as they combine ever-youthful energy with a mature perspective. For every hopeful “Count Me In,” there’s a worldly-wise “Counterfeit Love.” For every message of positivity, as in “More Love” (“You’re in a dream, wake up and now gear up/Come on”), there’s a look at the hard edge of history: “Invasion” recounts the plight of the oppressed as Eric sings, “No time for questions/Don’t ask for reasons/Washed of their faith/Thrown in the fire.” “Every song has a story,” the singer explains matter-of-factly. The acknowledgement of injustice that deepens some of Rebelution’s stories draws on the roots-reggae tradition that inspired the band in the first place. Indeed, their love for the inspirational roots of modern Jamaican music have culminated in a collaboration with Don Carlos himself, on the jam-anthem “Roots Reggae Music.”

Count Me In, released on June 10th, 2014, debuted on the Billboard Top 200 at #14 and marked the band’s third consecutive #1 Reggae album.

The seeds of Rebelution germinated in Santa Barbara’s college town of Isla Vista in 2004. A student named Marley D. Williams had recently switched from baseball to bass guitar when, walking to choir practice one night, he heard strains of roots-reggae coming through a door. The fellow reggae enthusiast turned out to be Rachmany, a devotee of roots-reggae and dancehall, and especially the music of Don Carlos and Black Uhuru.

The nucleus of a new and innovative “California Reggae” band got rock-solid when Marley heard percussionist and drummer Wesley Finley’s impressive solos on a big African drum in a World Music class. At the same time, the bassist had befriended a local band featuring keyboardist Rory Carey, who soon became another cornerstone of the budding Rebelution.

Fate? Good luck? Some combination of forces had stirred in Isla Vista to bring these boys together. Guerilla-style cover gigs led to bigger local shows, original songs, and a homemade five-song EP that surprised everyone by becoming a radio hit in Hawaii, quickly leading to a tour there. The eye-opening thrill of headlining a show in front of 600 fans, all singing along, told the young musicians that even though they were still college kids, they were onto something big there on the Big Island.

Back home, it was time to invest in recording a full album. After a few growing pains, Courage to Grow hit the airwaves, and of course the internet – it was the heyday of Myspace, and the band took full advantage. The album’s title expressed their fearless energy, and the same kind of organic underground surge that had created their early Hawaiian fan base propelled Courage to Grow to #4 on the Billboard Reggae chart and earned it the nod as iTunes’ Editors’ Choice for Best Reggae Album of 2007.

Bright Side of Life, released on their own 87 Music label in 2009, hit #1 on the iTunes Reggae chart, and was the third most downloaded album in the U.S. in all genres while reaching No. 1 on the Billboard Top Reggae Albums chart and #34 on Billboard’s top 200.

As if that weren’t enough, their third LP, Peace of Mind, released in 2012 with additional acoustic and dub versions of all twelve songs, marked an even higher chart debut: #13 on the Billboard Top 200, not to mention #1 on the Reggae chart and #1 on the Independent chart – and it was the #4 iTunes album overall.

All very different, but always musical brothers, these tireless pioneers of California Reggae now play 100-120 shows a year. Tours have taken them to South America, Guam, Aruba, New Zealand and Europe. They’ve performed at Bonnaroo, Outside Lands, Glastonbury, Lollapalooza, and Austin City Limits. They’ve headlined and sold out Red Rocks and the Santa Barbara Bowl, and done all this with no backing from any major label and very little media support.

Marley explains: “Our music is meant to move people physically and mentally at the same time. When people are really dancing and really thinking, that’s a double threat.” Among other things, he adds, it evokes “It’s a ‘one love’ spirit and we’re doing it in our own style, influenced by the diversity in California and the people we were surrounded by growing up.”

Still, at heart, the story of Rebelution is a pretty easy one to understand. As the band embarks on its second decade, Eric explains, “Rebelution is a great example of four friends who got together to play music for the fun of it, and still do that today. We just play music that we really enjoy.”

The Twinkle Brothers were formed in 1962 by brothers Norman (vocals, drums) and Ralston Grant (vocals, rhythm guitar) from Falmouth, Jamaica. The band was expanded with the addition of Eric Barnard (piano), Karl Hyatt (vocals, percussion), and Albert Green (congas, percussion).

After winning local talent competitions, they recorded their first single, "Somebody Please Help Me," in 1966 for producer Leslie Kong. This was followed by sessions for other top Jamaican producers such as Duke Reid, Lee "Scratch" Perry, Sid Bucknor, Phil Pratt, and Bunny Lee. The band worked in the late 1960s and early 1970s on the island's hotel circuit, playing a mixture of calypso, soul, pop, and soft reggae, and in the early 1970s, they began producing their own recordings. Their debut album, Rasta Pon Top, was released in 1975, featuring strongly-Rastafari-oriented songs such as "Give Rasta Praise" and "Beat Them Jah Jah".

As well as producing Twinkle Brothers work, Norman Grant also produced other artists since the mid-1970s, including several albums by E.T. Webster. In 1977, the band were signed to Virgin Records' Frontline label, leading to the release of the Love, Praise Jah, and Countrymen albums. When the band were dropped by Virgin Records in the early 1980s, Norman Grant moved to the United Kingdom, and carried on effectively as a solo artist, but still using the Twinkle Brothers name, and continued with regular releases well into the 2000s, mainly on his own Twinkle label.

Since the early 1990s Twinkle Brothers have been regularly collaborating with the Polish band Trebunie-Tutki in which they fuse reggae and traditional music from the Tatra Mountains. In the Gambian Rap Awards 1999, he was honored as best solo artist in the country.

In 2003, Rebellion the Recaller to Germany. Appeared in 2004 with We Must Rebel his first single in Germany. The title was already published in The Gambia on Departing From These Days. A co-produced by Bobby Digital album followed in 2008. In addition, the rebellion had Recaller as a guest vocalist on sheets of D-Flame, Dodo, Phenomden, Mono & Nikitaman and gentleman. Today he lives in Berlin. He is a devout Muslim.

Hailed as a child prodigy and called the "Michael Jackson of reggae," Brown was just 12 years old when he recorded his first album, No Man is an Island, which included the hit single of the same name. Largely hailed as "reggae's king" following Bob Marley's death in 1981, Brown recorded nearly 80 albums over his 30-year career. His addiction to cocaine contributed to his early death on July 1, 1999.

Early Career

Born as Dennis Emmanuel Brown on February 1, 1957 in Kingston, Jamaica. Dubbed by Bob Marley as his successor and called the "Crown Prince" of reggae, Brown was just 12 years old when he created his first hit single, "No Man is an Island." He recorded the song at the famed Studio One Records in 1969, as part of his album of the same name.

Brown had begun working toward a music career three years prior to the release of No Man is an Island; at the age of 9, he had begun singing with Byron Lee and the Dragonaires. During concerts, the young Brown stood atop beer boxes so that he could be seen. In 1968, He had caught the attention of Studio One sound system operator Clement "Coxsone" Dodd, and soon began recording at the studio, where Bob Marley had carved out his sound several years before. During an amazing two-day session, Brown recorded two albums: No Man Is an Island and If I Follow My Heart.

In 1971, Brown released Super Reggae & Soul Hits, which featured a more mature sound and pushed Brown to stardom. His silky, smooth voice endeared him to listeners and record executives, and as his stature grew, so did the demands from record producers who wanted to tap into his success. Over his nearly 30-year career, Brown churned out 80 albums for some 40 different recording labels. His hits include "Some Like It Hot," "Cassandra," "Westbound Train," "My Time," "How Could I Leave" and "Ghetto Girl." His 1972 single, "In My Pocket," landed among the U.K.'s Top 10.

Brown's career mirrored the changes in reggae music, from lovers' rock to dancehall, to digital. With each change, the easy sounding musician seemed to effortlessly transition. In 1994, he was nominated for a Grammy Award for the album Light My Fire.

Following Bob Marley's death in 1981, many assumed that Brown, who for a time moved to London after signing with A&M Records, would pick up the torch as reggae's leading man. The result, however, was a mediocre stab at pop reggae and the release of three poorly received albums.

As Brown transitioned into the 1980s, his drug of choice changed from marijuana to cocaine. He was never able to kick his cocaine habit, which contributed to his early death on July 1, 1999 in Kingston, Jamaica. Just two months before he died, Brown, who fathered 13 children during his lifetime, had been arrested in Brazil for possession of drugs.

Despite his personal issues, Brown continued to make the recording studio his second home until his death. During the final year of his life, he released three records, and had been working on a fourth when he passed.

That same month saw the release of Midnite's fourth album "Seek Knowledge Before Vengeance". Released on their Afrikan Roots Lab record label, this album raises the bar of cultural roots reggae, as we know it today.

The Heptones are a Jamaican rocksteady and reggae vocal trio most active in the 1960s and early 1970s. They were one of the more significant trios of that era, and played a major role in the gradual transition between ska and rocksteady with their three-part harmonies.

Leroy Sibbles, Earl Morgan and Barry Llewellyn first came together as "The Hep Ones" in 1965 in Kingston but they soon changed their name to "The Heptones". The name was chosen by Morgan after seeing a Heptones Tonic bottle lying in a pile of refuse.

The Heptones recorded for major Jamaican record producers at the time. They began their career, after one unsuccessful single.[3] for Ken Lack's "K Calnek" label, under the watchful eye of Coxsone Dodd of Studio One. The Heptones had a number of Jamaican hits for Studio One, beginning with "Fattie Fattie", their first Studio One single in 1966.[4] This began a long run of success for Coxsone, including "Pretty Looks Isn't All", "Get In The Groove", "Be a Man", "Sea of Love" (a cover of the Phil Phillips and the Twilights doo-wop classic), "Ting a Ling", "Party Time" and "I Hold the Handle." They were the chief rivals to The Techniques, who recorded for Arthur "Duke" Reid, as the top vocal act of the rocksteady era.

During their five years at Brentford Road, Leroy Sibbles played bass on numerous sessions, auditioned acts, and along with Jackie Mittoo, was the chief studio arranger. Some of their instrumental session work was released as the Soul Vendors and Sound Dimension. Amongst the rhythms featuring Sibbles' bass playing are Alton Ellis' "I'm Still in Love", "Full Up" (used on Musical Youth's "Pass The Dutchie") and The Abyssinians "Satta Massagana". The Heptones remained at Studio One well into the reggae era, where they cut tunes such as "Message from a Black Man", "Love Won't Come Easy", "I Hold (Got) The Handle", "I Love You" and a successful cover version of "Suspicious Minds", then went on to record with Joe Gibbs and Harry J in the early 1970s. They had a big hit with "Book of Rules" (based on an American poem called "A Bag of Tools" by R.L.Sharpe) in 1973. It was one of the group's few songs not sung by Sibbles. Barry Llewelyn sang lead and co-wrote "Book of Rules". The song was featured on the soundtrack for the 1998 American comedy-thriller film Homegrown. Sibbles emigrated to Canada in 1973 and the group suspended recording activities, returning in 1975 to once again record at Harry J's Kingston studio.

In 1975, The Heptones signed an album deal with Island Records. Two albums resulted: Night Food in 1976 and Party Time in 1977. Night Food was produced by Danny Holloway, and featured several re-recorded Studio One classics, as well as originals such as "Country Boy" and "Mama Say". The group toured England with Toots & The Maytals to support Night Food's release.

In 1977, The Heptones recorded Party Time with Lee "Scratch" Perry. They had issued a number of singles (including a cover of Billy Stewart's "I Do Love You") on his Justice League imprint five years previously. Party Time was recorded during Black Ark's peak period. Party Time also included remakes of Studio One tunes, including Bob Dylan's "I Shall Be Released", along with newer compositions such as "Sufferers' Time". In the same era, they released a number of 12" singles with Lee Perry, such as "Mystery Babylon", "Mr. President" (featuring DJ Jah Lloyd) and "Babylon's Falling".

Sibbles left the group once more in 1978 to start a successful solo career,[4] having already cut a solo version of "Love Won't Come Easy" for Augustus Pablo, and having cut his own solo singles for Lee Perry ("Rasta Fari" and "Garden of Life") and Dennis Brown's DEB Music ("New Song" and "Ain't No Love"). He was replaced by Dolphin "Naggo" Morris, who had recorded "Su Su Pon Rasta" for Joe Gibbs and "You Should Love Your Brother" for King Jammys, but the group's popularity waned. By the late 1970s, their slick stage suits and covers of pop tunes found little favour with audiences more used to more "militant" dreadlocked performers singing of Rastafari, and they began to be perceived as relics of an older era. Despite being produced by Joseph Hoo Kim at Channel One, Good Life (1979) saw the group treading water, and the years that followed brought little success. The original trio reunited in 1995, and released Pressure!, produced by Tapper Zukie.
