Omar Perry (Mark's real name), born in Kingston, Jamaica in 1968 is a Jamaican reggae musician. He is the son of Lee Scratch Perry.

Paapa Wastik is a conscious African roots-life reggae artist whose musical talent began around the tender age of five in his hometown of Cape Coast, Ghana where music is a predominant part of his culture. In early 2011, Paapa Wastik in collaboration with Earthly Body Products (a company in california) organized the "Support The Needy Children Project Soccer Tournament" to donate jersey's, soccer ball, books, pens and other school supplies to four rural schools in the central region of Ghana. STNCP' is now in the incubation stages of actualizing its visions of building a Community Eco-Village that will serve as a gathering space for youth to plant and harvest their creative abilities, as well as encouraging communal environmental sustainability projects. From 2006 onward 'STNCP' has made a number of presentations to schools in Ghana's Central Region. . After a hit duet with Jamaican superstar Luciano called Leaders, the group then embarked on a five week tour of Europe performing in their own right and backing fellow acts the Abyssinians, Mykal Rose of Black Uhuru and Warrior King. After playing at 2004 Rbel Salute in Jamaica, they stayed on the island to record tracks with master Saxaphonist/Producer Dean Fraser and Bobby Digital. Like that of various seventies legends, the RasItes music blends social realism with a joyful spirituality that international audiences are beginning to find irresistible, and this explosive, yet time-honoured combination has generated some of the most exuberant displays off singing, dee-jaying and live musicianship the UK has seen in years. This in itself shouldn't surprise anyone familiar with the bands origins. Raised in East and North London, the members of RasItes grew up to the sounds of JA greats. They began thier own musical journey at Rastafari gatherings, where as small youths they would play Conga drums and chant amongst the elders, all the while absorbing knowledge of their spiritual and ancestral heritage before forming the RasItes in 1996 the original line up remains as tightly knited as ever. Their first recording session took place during 1997 at Mad Profesors Ariwa studio in South London and the Easy Street in East London. This was the time when they recorded tracks named Blessed and Africa. Africa was the song that they performed when they entered the Sunsplash Selector competition held at the Hackney Empire in 1998 when Jahmel was fifteen and Otis only thirteen. They were the only live band on the competition and won the first place prize, which was a trip to Jamaica to perform on Reggea Sunsplash. By the summer of 1999 they was signed to Jet star and working on various tracks. Established in 2000, The Devastators are a four-piece outfit based out of San Diego, California. Their sound can be described as a soulful mix of roots reggae and dub with a hint of funk, combining heavy drum and bass grooves and the old school sounds of Hammond organ, clavinet, and piano. The current line-up consists of some of San Diego's most prominent reggae musicians including Ivan Garzon (lead vocals, bass), John Allen (drums, harmony vocals), Alex Somerville (keyboards), and Brian Teel (guitar, keyboards, harmony vocals). These four veteran performers combined share over 10,000 hours of stage experience.

A graduate of Cal Arts with a BA of Fine Arts, singer/songwriter Ivan Garzon (Spaceman Spiff/Citizen X/ The PHD's) is both an accomplished bassist and vocalist, possessing the rare ability to combine the two seamlessly in live performance. Garzon's talents blend well with one of the hardest working rhythm sections in Southern California, best known locally for over a decade performing and recording with Elijah Emanuel and the Revelations and touring internationally with Big Mountain and Quinazo (solo project of singer/songwriter Quino McWhinney of Big Mountain).

The Devastators were voted “Best World Music” in the 2010 San Diego Music Awards and received nominations in 2004, 2006, 2008, and 2009. Their album "Frontline" and song "Find A Way" recently won 2nd and 3rd place respectively in the Reggae Album and Reggae Song categories in the 2009 JPF Independent Music Awards held in Nashville. Their song “The Secret” from the ‘Better Days’ album was also recently licensed for use in the feature film “Sometimes in Life” along side artists such as Ozomatli and Michael Franti and Spearhead.

In 2010 the band concluded their nearly ten year weekly gig at R.T.’s Longboards in Pacific Beach, performing three sets every Sunday in Southern California’s longest running live reggae residency. In addition to Longboards they have held residencies at many SD hotspots including On Broadway, Thin Room, Winstons Beach Club, and Wave House. With their combined individual tour experience they have performed extensively throughout the US and at virtually every prominent music venue on the West Coast.

In November 2005 The Devastators released their long overdue debut album entitled "Frontline" on the Peaks and Valleys Productions label. The album has been well received by both fans and critics alike. The band released their sophomore album entitled "Better Days," in February 2008 distributed as well via Peaks and Valleys Productions.

Born Donald Willis, in Kingston’s Jubilee hospital, on the 11th August 1966 he was raised and spent his first formative years in Trench Town, Kingston 12.

Doniki‘s interest in music steadily grew throughout his early schooldays, at St Albans Primary and had increased by the time he reached Denham Town Secondary. Whilst at secondary school he took every opportunity to sing and even then it was obvious to many he had a genuine talent.

After leaving school, at the age of sixteen, he undertook his first paid work within the music world. First he cut his teeth on Love Child sound system from Portmore alongside Professor Nuts, Lecturer, Jr Frost, Captain Barkey, Dignitary Stylish and later on joined on Love Child by Grindsman, Baby Wayne and Anthony B. He also worked on other sounds including the legendary Killamanjaro set and to this day he is still remembered as one of most exciting Dancehall performers of the period.

In 1982 he recorded his first song, She Give Me Icky for Mikey Tomlinson. Over the next few years he developed his style mentored first by Johnny Osborne, and then Bunny Wailer. His biggest hit of the period was the classic Sound killing anthem Moan And Yawn on the Harmadio label. By now Doniki had been joined by Steady Ranks and they soon built a reputation as one of the most dynamic stage show acts.

The Duo then started writing and recording for Star Trail Productions .They enjoyed success with songs such as Trod On and Jump Nyahbinghi and it was here that a wider audience became more aware of the singers.

They then moved onto, the Ocho Rios based, Kariang label, after first meeting Kariang boss Jah Mikes at the home of ex-Star Trail stable mate Garnett Silk. This association continued for many years with the pair releasing an album called Come To Give Praises, in 1997. They toured many parts of the world including France, Italy, Israel, and the Ivory Coast.

During time Doniki also wrote for Platinum selling French Artist PierPoljack which further enhanced his reputation in Europe. As a thirst for authentic Roots music began to grow in places like France and Germany, he had continued success with many songs including Break Free, a combination with Anthony B.

2006 saw the long awaited debut solo Album from Doniki entitled Radikal Expressions, produced by Kariang and licensed to French label Makkasound. It has been very well received and once again shows the singer’s skill at social commentary.

Doniki by now had been a Waterhouse resident for a number of years and his songs became ever more radikal. Living up to today through many turbulent times he has witnessed Waterhouse, Kingston 11, become a no-go area for many and this provided the subject matter for his single, Gully Bank. It has received heavy rotation on all Jamaican Radio stations and the accompanying video reached number one on the RETV video chart. Life Of The People, Gully Bank Pt2, Rasta, Hail The Man and Kingston are also receiving regular airplay and the video for Life Of The People also made it to number 1 on the RETV video chart. They are all taken from forth coming album Gully Bank.

Gully Bank is the first scheduled album release for Gully Bank Musik Ltd, the company Doniki co owns with his Producer and Manager David Scorpion. Recorded entirely at Tuff Gong Studio, by Chief Engineer Roland McDermott it features many of Jamaica’s topflight musicians .It received the attention of just one Mixing Engineer Shane C Brown, working out of Shaggy's Big Yard Studio and this shows with consistent quality and continuity throughout.

It is an Album which still caters for Doniki’s existing fan base that has always been on the rootsier side of the Dancehall, but now places the singer right in the heart of the Dancehall. There are many songs which you quickly find yourself singing along to, where the infectious melody instantly hooks you.

But this is Doniki’s real skill because underpinning all that this singer is writing lyric’s of such magnitude he is providing us with Anthems to enjoy now, but also a blueprint for the next generation of Songwriters.What more therefore can be said of Doniki, the singer who nurtured his talent amongst the tenement yards of Trench Town and then refined it by the Gully Bank in Waterhouse. Well this is the artist who has been rated by the biggest set of musicians over the years as Reggae’s most underrated Artist. This is the singer that the most high profile Artists, greet with “yes mi singer“ with a sincerity not always displayed nowadays. The Artist’s, Artist!

Doniki is not out to claim any title, ask him and he will simply tell you he is one of Selassie I Warriors fighting on the battlefield. Dennis Brown never asked to be called the Crown Prince of Reggae, nor Bob Marley to be called The King of Reggae. So we will just leave it to history to decide on a title, but there can be no doubt on this singer's talent, just take a listen to his Musik. No hype here.

The In Crowd eram uma banda de baile de reggae jamaicano popular da década de 1970. Liderados por Fil Callender (vocal e guitarra), a banda também incluiu Errol Walker (vocal), Clevie Browne (bateria e vocal), Tony Lewis (baixo e vocal), Freddie Butler (teclados) e Wigmore Francis (guitarra ). A banda também contou com um naipe de metais de Egbert Evans Bailey e Barry. Browne tinha sido anteriormente um membro do grupo Browne.

After a long break from the game, Mikey has returned hotter than ever, this time teaming up with young producer Kemist Kris of Reality Shock Records. A native to California, Blaak Lung began playing music at age 6 focusing on the drums. By age 10 he was on to the clarinet and performing in school bands. He picked up piano at age 12 and moved on to producing the following year. His skills as a producer were much sought after in the Hip Hop, Reggae and R&B worlds. Singing was always a part of his repertoire. Blaak Lung characterizes his singing style through a form, which he refers to as "EngJay" a combination of spoken word, dub poetry and DJ'ing.

Blaak Lung has a lot to say in his premier CD as a singer, the unspoken wasn't being spoken so he decided to put out the message. The message includes a range of issues including: the condition of all Africans in the world today (especially those in the Americas) and the negative messages we are being given. The messages in his music are "edutainment" or in plane speak - educational entertainment. You are assured to receive messages about life, people, and the promotion of 'Livity'.

Some of the cuts on the CD are: "To the Souls of Old", paying homage to the elders who gave us the direction of where and whom we are suppose to be; "Tell the Youth the Truth" sends a message to the youth about conditions that are really going on in the world today; "Judgment Day" wakes us up now, as we will all face our judgment day; and "What a Lovely Day" focuses on all Africans collectively rising up out of the state of confusion that we are finding ourselves in.

History Formally know as ONE STYLE MDV, MDV are a reggae band that have been together for over 20 years friends and through several transformations. Love Grocer comprises of Chris Petter and David Fullwood, both multi-talented musicians, with Tenor Saxophonist Jon Petter and Alto Saxophonist and flautist Richard Doswell. Along with various artists from the UK roots and dub scene they create a rich new sound, heavily featuring brass instruments, with horn stabs, brass fanfares and victory horn charges, the album adds a new and highly exciting dimension to the dub genre.

I was pleasantly surprised when I first gave this release a spin, the musicianship is first class with many of the tracks being instrumentals and the production is also first rate. ‘Across the Valley’ conjures feelings of summer, sunshine and chilled out vibes. Thoughts of festivals and clear blue skies come to mind and I guarantee a smile will reach your lips when spinning this album, especially upon hearing ‘Sunset Point’, with its beautifully floating horn section and jazzy overtones. The same can be said for many of the tracks ‘East of Jaro’ is warming and passionately played. ‘Cloudy Day’ is a heavier, thumping cut, with long drawn out horn blasts, reminiscent of such dub outfits as Zion Train. ‘Journey’s End’ opens with fabulous ‘world music’ sounding acoustic guitar and creates a feeling of warm summer days. Many of the track names reflect the feeling and emotion of the music, such as ‘Blossom’ and ‘Cool, Clear, Water’ .

‘Across the Valley’ is a remarkable mix of styles; roots, dub and jazz are perfectly blended together to create a spectacular piece of work. There are a couple of un-credited vocal mixes on the release, including one from Earl Sixteen entitled ‘Surviving’ and one sung in Japanese called ‘Snowdrops’.

A very highly recommend release and I look forward to catching them at a summer festival.

In 1989, the British band UB40 recorded a cover version of "Kingston Town".

There is a story that after this, Eccles saw Creator, who had become homeless and destitute, on a Kingston street. When Eccles called out to him, Creator fled thinking Eccles had come to collect $30 he owed him. Eccles chased him down and told him UB40 had recorded "Kingston Town" and that Creator had earned substantial royalties. Creator also did a slightly faster version of this song, where the word 'Kingston' is replaced by 'Babylon'. With the money he earned in royalties, Creator revitalized his life and career. He appeared in oldies shows in Jamaica, and toured Japan.

She continued to record and perform with further albums released in the 1980s and 1990s, including the 1992 album Annette, recorded with Sly & Robbie.

Brissett became an important part of the Miami reggae scene and has worked with several top Jamaican singers including Hopeton Lindo, Marcia Griffiths,and Beres Hammond, with whom she had a number one single on the South Florida reggae chart with the duet "There For You".

Unity Pacific's music pays homage and respect to the great roots reggae artists of Jamaica. Tigi and his friends were profoundly affected by the music and spiritual message of Bob Marley. Looking back, he feels that it redeemed and rejuvenated him. It also inspired him to write his own spiritually uplifting social commentary about Aotearoa.
Tigi, Teina, and Steven Keys had played reggae together for many years since their time in the Twelve Tribes of Israel. Dave Parry and Rob Halcrow had played ska together with the Managers. The band had many memorable rehearsals in Steve's metal garage where they improvised with each song and developed their sound. Mike Brooks aka Mikey Brooks, Prince Michael (born Edmund Brooks, 1953, Westmoreland, Jamaica) is a reggae singer whose career stretches back to the early 1970s.

Brooks performed regularly at the 'Idler's Rest' on Chancery Lane in Kingston, and landed a job at Channel One Studios building rhythms with the group Skin Flesh & Bone. His first record release was with the group The Tots (who also included Norris Reid and in Brooks' words 'a guy called Tony'), who released a single in 1975 called "Earth Is The Fullness", recorded at Lee "Scratch" Perry's Black Ark studio, and released on Brooks' Harvest label. The band was not successful, but Brooks would often contribute to recording sessions at the Black Ark organized by Jah Lloyd. Brooks re-emerged as a solo singer in the mid-1970s, working with producers such as Alvin Ranglin, and achieving hits with singles such as "Guiding Star" (1977), "Come Sister Love", "Grooving", "Open The Door", and "What a Gathering". He also recorded the combination single "Who Have Eyes To See" with Prince Far I. He moved to the United Kingdom, and joined the British Reggae Artists Against Famine Appeal, singing on the "Let's Make Africa Green Again" charity single. In 1990 he recorded an album with Glen Brown, and followed it in 1995 with Hardcore Lover, an album on which he was joined by Delroy Wilson and Pat Kelly.

Brooks also worked as a producer, and along with Jah Lloyd, set up his own 'Teams' label in the late 1970s
