This is just an update of what is happening in my life. I now got a job! Yeah you can check my previous post about the said job. Though it was hard to get in, I manage to work with the said company, and so far, I love every minute working of it. Though I am still not sure if I am going to pass the one month probee status, I am giving my best working for them.

Into the gaming industry

I just want to inform the reader/s(if there is, lol) that I am already a trainee in a online gaming company. If you read my previous posts, you probably knew that this industry is way, way out of the line of my course. Well, maybe that is the truth, but this is one the field of my interests. I mean, I like computers. I prefer working in front of a computer, and there are only rare opportunities that you get to earn while introduced to games and get a chance to play it.

Some will say I wasted four years, maybe five years of my life. My point is I'd rather waste four years of my life than wasting my life working in the field that I am not interested in.

If I got to land the job, this is the third time that the internet will save my @$$. You see, internet -> games -> gaming companies -> provide jobs -> me. Got it? =]

I didn't mentioned the name of the company yet and I did say 'if I got the job' because I am still a trainee. They will still choose who among us, trainees are appropriate for the position we are applying for. That is why I have to give 110% every day. I still got four days left to prove to them that I am fit for that position.

I just hope that I will get this job. =]

The Internet saved my @$$

Almost anything can be done nowadays online. You can watch movies, you can chat, shop online and many more. I will tell you how internet save me and keep me from going offline and I'll give a little background of myself just to relate this post to the title.

I am a registered nurse and I graduated from a reputable school. I belong to batch 2006, which is the most controversial batch in Nursing history, I guess. After we got our license, we waited for a long time before the issue was settled. I want the issue to die down first before I will apply in hospitals to become a staff nurse. That was my plan at that time.

I got my first job January 2007, as a medical transcriptionist, but starting July of 06, I am thinking what the hell will I do until the issue was settled? It would be a waste of time if I just waited. I tried buying magazines in which business I can venture on before looking for a job. That's the first time I was saved by the internet.

I got to know eBay Philippines through the Entrepreneur Magazine. There I started my first buy and sell business. I was the first one to sell and sold death note replicas on eBay. Also, I sell anime collectibles ranging from Naruto to Dragon Ball Z and rare football stuffs such as keychains and figurines. There are so many things that can be sold via eBay but I chose these stuffs because I love watching animes and love playing the sport of soccer.

At that time, the business was so good, that the only thing that hinder its growth is that it is a buy and sell business. Well, I monopolize the anime section of eBay at that time though there were sellers of anime too, but doesn't have the inventory the same as mine.

Enter the true competitors. I guess they saw that I was making money on that niche and they started competing. I was confident at that time because eBay uses the feedback system. I already got lots of positive feedbacks when competitors jumped in, and buyers prefer to go to sellers who has lots of positive feedbacks compared to sellers who are just starting.

But then again, I was wrong. My competitors slowly began having its customer base and at the same time lowering the price of items in which I can't compete with. It really affected my sales though I am still making a profit.

After a few months of eBaying, I was hired to become a medical transcriptionist. Though we were not busy just like everyone else in the industry, I began to lose focus on my eBay. I began to see the decline of my so-called business.

I quit being a medical transcriptionist after 7 months because I thought that it was a good chance to apply as a staff nurse. The issue had died down and the media forgot all about it. Perfect! Not!

I forgot that there were also graduates from other schools. I thought that I can easily apply in hospitals. As I applied in hospitals, there were massive pile ups of applicants. I was too late I guess, that is why up to now, no hospital was calling.

At the very moment I am drafting my resignation letter, I saw a segment in which they tackle blogging and how one can earn so much from it. I immediately jump in into the blogosphere.

During the time I got unemployed again, I tried to revive my eBay business. There were moments of highs, but due to eBay's new policy in which buyers can't be given a negative feedback, many buyers got the confidence not to complete the transaction. There were even eBayers with lots of positive feedbacks that failed to complete the transaction and it hurt the business since I was a buy and sell business. Once ordered, I can't return the item easily. Because of the failed transactions, items bought were never sold.

After a few failed transactions, I decided to keep away from eBay and started concentrating on blogging. This is the second time the internet saved my butt. After 10 months of learning and experimenting, I managed to get my first paycheck from Google Adsense as well as other online blogging ventures.

Thanks to the internet I was able to make money and help somehow to pay for some expenses like cellphone loads, subscription fees etc. I do not make big money online yet, but I know there is much growth in this industry. I just need to be patient and work hard to be there and join the big time bloggers(I hope so *wink*).

Blogging: An alternative for the unemployed?

I guess most of us knew every blogger who is earning a lot online because of their blog. There are the likes of Macuha and Jehlzau, just to name a few. Their blog serves as a cash machine for them. So much cash that Jehlzau even afford to quit his day job.

On the other hand, there is a growing number of people who are unemployed today. Recent graduates have no jobs to find. And since there is money here in blogging, this is one way of having an income for the unemployed.

Personally, I wouldn't recommend you to start blogging especially if you had just lost your job or quit your job. Why? Mainly because of these reasons.

1. It takes time to learn blogging and how to monetize it - First, you need to learn how to start a blog, increase your visitors/readers, how to rank up well in SERP, and of course, how to monetize it.

Most of the blogs here on planet earth are monetized via Google Adsense. And I've read some blogs that they got their first Adsense payment after they blog seriously three to four months. I got my first Adsense payment after I seriously blog for about five months. Take note that I mentioned the word 'seriously' because they(including me) started blogging for months before they try to monetize it properly.

If you want to earn money primarily on blogging, then you will need to spend time learning the ropes of it.

2. You need to cover expenses before you got your paycheck - The average learning period is within 4-6 months, and that is the time you need to cover for your expenses before you cash up on your Adsense.

Within this time, if you are unemployed, you have to use your savings in order to survive. You need to pay for the electric bills, your food, internet connection, and many more. You simply live with blogging, or die with blogging. Unless you got lots of money in your savings account, then you could afford the time to get into blogging.

Unless you have the brains like Bloggista, who is now earning 600-800 dollars a month after starting blogging 8 months ago, then I guess you wouldn't have a problem in your ROI =p

Well, I do recommend blogging when you have a regular job or a business where you can get a primary income. Then start blogging as a part time business, just to augment your primary income. After you grow your blog and earning a lot through it, then you can decide if you are ready to quit your job and focus mainly on blogging, just like what Jehzlau did.

Blogging is stressful at times, but fun at the most. It is worth giving a try because the rewards are great, but you have to think first before giving up your day job for the sole purpose of pursuing blogging. If you do that, as I mentioned above, you'll gonna die in blogging or live with it. =]

Book misspells its author

As I am waiting for the calls of seven companies, and two hospitals for their call, I tried finishing the book I bought with my first ever Adsense payment.

This book is I guess the missing piece in my Rich Dad Series. I've already read Rich Dad Poor Dad, Cash Flow Quadrant, and Retire Young, Retire Rich(Yes I skipped =]). This time, I have the chance to read Rich Dad's Guide to Investing.

I skipped this book because there were no smaller versions of this book before. They only have the bigger version, which costs 800+ pesos. Luckily, I saw this version and I immediately bought it. I also got this item for a cheap price of P260, because it was on sale at the time I bought it. Its original price is P325. Not bad, isn't it?

After stopping reading on page 104, I suddenly noticed that the name of the author, Robert Kiyosaki, is misspelled as 'Robert Kyosaki', and the error was in front of the cover of the book. Take a look:

I don't know if my copy is the only copy that has this kind of error. I'll check it again in other bookstores if they do have the same error. If you happen to have the same version of this book, kindly leave a comment if you have the same mistake or not.

Would you blog a terrible experience?

Blogging has been a good medium to express our feelings, get information, make money online, as well as sharing experiences in our daily lives. You blog about your first Google Adsense payment, you blog about how successful your SEO experiments are, you blog about which restaurant you had a great time, etc.

When you had bad experiences with with other people, there are times when you just want the anger fade away, but also there are times when you are really pissed off that you want to blog about them, right? Especially to those who are in the service oriented businesses, such as restaurants, internet providers, etc.

I am saying this because I did have a horrible experience with a certain establishment, and I do not know if blogging about them is the right thing to do. At that moment, , I was furious, but I did nothing. I thought that I will just blog about it. But then again, I realize that it would be unfair to them since my side will only be open to the readers/visitors of this blog, and we won't know their side. And if I blog about it, nothing will change, and it may get the matter worse(in case).

As the saying goes, understanding replaces hate. Maybe they are just stressed out for that day or the previous days that is why I was treated poorly. I got nothing to say something good about it so I might as well not talk about it. So if you have a bad or a terrible experience, would you blog about it?Would you include their names on your post?

Big Stan: Rob Schneider's directoral debut

Big Stan is the first movie whom the comedian Rob Schneider had directed. It was basically about a man, who was accused of fraud, and was sentenced to jail for three years. He was afraid to get raped inside the prison so he wanted to learn how to defend himself.

That's the time when he met 'The Master' who teaches him lessons in kicking ass. After all the training, he went inside the prison to serve his sentence. There were gangs inside the prison, but due to his fighting skills, all the gangs were afraid of him. There he had the chance to ban the raping of co-inmates.

Here is the trailer of the movie.

I didn't find the movie funny at the start compared to Schneider's previous movies. But as the movie goes on and on, I started to get into his jokes and laugh hard. This movie reminds me of 'The Longest Yard' by Adam Sandler. The difference is that in this movie, he needs to choose between his inmates and the 'deal' with regards to land of the prison.

The movie also has lots of known MMA celebrities like Randy Couture, Bob Sapp, Don Frye, who participated in this movie. Also in the movie was Rob's mom, Pilar Schneider. What I really can't imagine is the role of Jennifer Morrison on this movie. She played a very intellectual colleague of Dr. House in the series House MD, butn this movie, she played the role of some stupid-like wife of Schneider. Hilarious.

All in all, this was a good movie by Rob Schneider. I give it a 7/10. =]

My girlfriend and I went to Cyma Estiatorio in Trinoma last time, and we decided to have a monthly session to go and eat to a casual or a fine dining restaurant and try to blog about our experience on that restaurant. And since we are not included in the 'rich people' category, we decided to have a budget of 1k per session. =]

Pasta is al dente. The sauce is creamy, tomatoes are juicy, shrimp succulent. But where is the cheese? Garlic bread is crisp.

Original shape, but still cut into 8 slices. Sausage reminds me of vigan longaniza. Yellow and red peppers add color. The basil makes the pizza fresh to the eyes. Chili in oil compliments the flavor of the pizza.

They gave pizza a new look. The crust is not that crispy.

Do you know who copies your blog's content?

I was browsing some articles on problogger.net and noticed a good article he posted about plagiarism, because he happened to be a victim of it. He mentioned a great tool on how to find out who copied your article from all over the internet, which is copyscape. Though he mentioned this tool four years ago, I guess it is worth mentioning again, especially for the new bloggers like me who don't know that there is this kind of tool.

So what is copyscape? It is a tool that scans I guess all of your blog's content, and searches for same content all over the internet. You will input your blog's url on copyscape's search field, and copyscape will look for same content of your blog from each article(I guess) existing on the internet. It will show you results of articles that may have the same content as with your blog. Isn't that great? =]

Though this is not really offer you complete protection against people who practices plagiarism, at least you know who or which site copies your content. Then you can follow the steps Darren Rowse suggests in his article if you ever found a plagiarizer by clicking here.

You can also put a banner like the one below to scare away plagiarizers, lol.

iPhone 3G Philippines

Just this afternoon, my friends and I went to SM Manila and we walk past the Globe Telecom outlet, and I noticed that they have sign saying '6 days to go', and there's an iPhone on it. If I am not mistaken, that was a countdown for the release of the iPhone 3g here in the Philippines. So if it is 6 more days from today, August 16, 2008, then the release of the iPhone is on August 22, 2008(if my computation is right).

After I got home, I immediately checked one of the leading tech blogs in the Philippines, yugatech(I am also a subscriber of this blog), and I saw that the price of of iPhone 3G here in the Philippines is a whopping Php 37,599 for the 8GB and Php 43,799 for the 16GB. Wow that's a lot of money! And that price has already been dropped down from its original price.

My friends had a cliche in our group whenever we saw an expensive item, "Mahal lang yan kung wala kang pera(It is only expensive if you do not have money)". Well, I guess it is true. If you got lots of money, then that price would be cheap for you. But for me, I guess I have to earn P100k a month first before I bought an item as expensive as that. =]

I know that the price of the iPhone 3G will decrease in due time. It is still expensive today because it is still a hot item. If the price of the iPhone is really that low, then we'll see if I can buy one. =p

The Best Time to Haggle in Divisoria

We know that Divisoria is the best place to buy cheap clothes, school supplies, toys, and a lot more. Even in the news, they always tell that Divisoria is the best place to buy if you are in a very tight budget.

We live here in Tondo, and Divisoria is just a few steps away. My mom is, I can say a 'mainstay' of Divisoria. Whenever she saw a good item in big time malls, she will look for that item in Divisoria and almost 80% of the time, she will find that item and in a much cheaper price. Sometimes, she even tell me that she saw that item(in big time malls) for a lesser price(in Divisoria). That is how she knows Divisoria.

And those lessons through her experience are being passed to me whenever we have time to talk. So I guess somehow I have credibility in giving some tips on what is the best time to buy in Divisoria, especially at the 168 Shopping mall or Divisoria Mall, right?=]

So what's the best time to haggle in Divisoria. In our experience, the best time would be a Monday, before lunch. Why?Because of the following:

Monday. Because people believe that when you spend money at the first day of the week, you tend to spend the whole week. That is why you will notice that there are less people inside the malls during Mondays. Though we believe that somehow, we tend to capitalize on that opportunity. Because there are less people buying, this is a good chance to have the leverage in haggling.
Early morning. It is a good chance that they haven't made their first sale yet, or the so called 'buena mano'. And when that happens, they are eager to give in the item to a much lower price just to make the first sale. They even beg you to buy their item if they don't have that buena mano. Sometimes, even if you haggle to a ridiculous low low price, you will be surprised that they will give the item for that price.
Sellers have the energy to entertain you as a customer. Sometimes when we buy in the afternoon, the salesladies tend to get snobbish. The reason is that maybe they made a lot of sale for that day, or maybe they are tired already. That is why morning is the best time because they have lots of energy during morning, and also reason number two.

I want to introduce to you my new blog. Well, I already got a lot of blogs, but this is my third 'serious' blog. My other two are my sports blog and my health related blog. I want this blog to be a more personal one, a blog where can I post about almost anything not related to health and sports, though I post sometimes those kind of topics in my health blog. I guess it is not appropriate to do those kind of things so I created this blog for those kind of topics.

I also want this blog somehow to be business related. I really want to be an entrepreneur, since I was in college. I also want to be financially free, at least before the age of forty. And I guess this blog will help me achieve those goal, indirectly.

I also started my first venture as an entrepreneur in the year 2006. That is the year I discovered eBay. I started selling Anime and football stuffs. I am proud to say that I am the first eBayer to sell those items. Before, the business is really making a lot of profit. But the competition is getting stiffer day after day, and the business is having difficulty to make a profit. That is why I decided to drop out of the business, not completely though.

As of now, me and my friends are trying to launch a small business, and we hope that it will grow someday. You can follow me in my journey on how I will fail, or succeed in the daily ventures of my life by subscribing to this blog, because this is where I will put the details of my ventures.
