According to last year's Business Banking Trust Survey, 55% of businesses reported that they were victims of fraud. In 87% of those fraud cases the money was never recovered and more than a quarter of those businesses were never reimbursed by their bank.

How to Remove Malware for FREE!

Several free utilities have emerged that do a real good job of removing malware. Not only can they be downloaded for free, but they are fairly easy to install and run. If your PC is starting to get sluggish, starting to get "pop-ups," or starting to get warnings from your own anti-virus software, you may be infected with malware. With some time and a little bit if patience, you can rid your own PC of its malware for free - SMB Computer Networks.

First, download the following free software:

Malwarebytes

Spybot

You should note that certain infections may stop the infected PC from accessing many known anti-virus and anti-malware sites, so you may need to download the required setup files from a clean PC and transport the files to the infected PC via network or Flash Drive. Download or copy both setup files to known location.

Next, restart Windows into safe mode with networking. We do this because many infections will be easier to remove with Windows in Safe Mode. To start a PC in safe mode:

Restart Windows

During the restart, when you see the PC Manufacturer logo / startup screen, repeatedly press the F8 key

You should see a Windows Startup Menu, select "Safe Mode with Networking."

Log in and ignore any dialogs about "System Restore"

You are now ready to begin your free malware removal from IT Services CT.

Malwarebytes

Browse to the location you stored the setup files

Launch the setup for Malwarebytes "mbam-setup.exe"

Follow all prompts, using the default options.

At the Finish screen, leave the default options selected and click "Finish"

When Malwarebytes’ main screen appears, select "Perform Quick Scan."

Spybot S&D

Browse to the location you stored the setup files

Launch the setup for Spybot S&D "spybotsd162.exe"; the exact file name may vary

Follow all prompts, using the default options.

At the Finish screen, leave the default options selected and click "Finish"

When Spybot launches for the first time, it will suggest letting it create a registry backup, and then update its definition files prior to the first scan. Let Spybot make this backup and perform its update.

Once these are complete, Spybot may restart and then you may start the scan by pressing "Check for problems."

After MalwareBytes and Spybot S&D

Once the PC is scanned and cleaned with Malwarebytes and Spybot, restart the computer and let it boot normally.

What's the Difference Between Viruses and Malware?

And Why Doesn't my Anti-Virus Stop Everything?

To understand the difference between viruses and malware, it is important to define the two terms. A virus is a program that copies itself from one place to another. Malware, on the other hand, is a much broader term. Malware is simply short for "malicious software" and includes other types of software such as viruses, trojan horses, worms, spyware, and adware. In fact, viruses were the first type of malware. It wasn't until the years of 2000 to 2005 when spyware and adware started to become such a problem that software companies started to specifically target these nuisances.

The reason why your anti-virus won't stop all types of malware is because the release rate of malware is simply too high. New malware is released every day and the anti-virus companies just cannot keep up. As a result, companies tend to target "just viruses" or "everything else" in order to stay competitive with Computer Consulting CT.

The good news is that, despite this ongoing battle, it's very easy to keep your business technology safe by utilizing a proven anti-virus. By using a continually updated anti-virus, you'll be able to detect and delete threats inside your business' network. If you have questions about your current anti-virus, or lack thereof, contact us for

How to Keep Your Business Safe from Hackers

By Employing Five Critical Layers of Protection

Malware infection?

For a limited time, order our malware removal service and you will receive a special offer regarding our anti-malware and antivirus software!

Every week, 57,000 new malware distribution sites are created on the Internet. These sites allow computer criminals to trick people into downloading malicious software, called malware, and installing it on their computer. Oftentimes, the person has no idea they even visited a malicious website. And if that isn't bad enough, there are computer attackers searching the Internet for weak computers to attack and infect every minute of every day.

The good news is that, despite this ongoing battle, it can be very easy to keep your business safe from malware by SMB Computer Networks employing five critical levels of protection and reducing the risk of attack or infection.

Multi-Functional Firewall - Protect yourself from remote threats before they even reach your workstation and increase productivity with a web content filter and email SPAM filter. This product reduces the risk that malware will make it into your network and onto one of your servers or workstations. If you have questions about your current firewall solution, contact us -- we're here to help!

Anti-Virus Protection - Use continually updated software to detect and delete threats inside your network. If you have questions about your current anti-virus or would like a free trial to our recommended anti-virus, then please contact us!

Anti-Malware Protection - Again, use continually updated software to detect and delete malware threats inside your network. Malware is oftentimes the culprit of a slow PC or one that crashes or freezes.

Employee Training - Your employees are your last line of defense; train them and they will protect your business.

Trustworthy Software - Only install software from IT Services CT known, trusted sources. Additionally, it is important to keep Windows up-to-date as well as Adobe PDF, Flash, Java, Microsoft Office, and any other third-party software on your workstations and servers.

Implementing these five layers of protection is critical to reducing your company's risk to malware infection. In the upcoming weeks, we will explain each level of protection in more detail but, until then, contact us if you have any questions -- we're here to help!

Interested in increasing productivity by reducing threats to your business? Contact us -- we're here to help.
