From the CEO/Lead Developer/Architect/Every Hat You Can Imagine
To our customers, fans and supporters:
When Christy and I first started E29 on June 29th 2006, we were in it for the long term. We knew we had some hurdles to make, and that it would be in no way easy, but we were prepared and willing to make the sacrifices needed to see the company succeed.
The first year of business was the toughest and saw my ( at the time ) fiancee working two jobs to help keep us in our apartment and food on the table. We endured the sharp end of business politics by having a contract ripped away at the 11th hour, a car repossession, a beloved pet suddenly dying of heart disease, and a legal battle that nearly bankrupt us.
Not to say that it got any easier, but the lessons that I learned from that first year of owning/operating a startup changed my professional persona. We began acting like a startup should: lean, aggressive, and cost-oriented. We also changed our services department dramatically and began taking on more and more contracts.
E29 grew impressively over the next year and half, doubling our customer base and generating more revenue to help grow the business. Coming into 2009, we laid out a plan for growth and prepared an advertising campaign to help put our name out there.
Christy and I have decided, after many discussions, to part ways with our company. It's been a fun (almost) three years , but I have decided to focus my energy solely on the projects I work on for Citizant, and step away from the private sector entirely.
As of this writing all open contracts are closed or are in the process of being closed. Serenity Application Platform *will* live on as a hobby project on my personal site, Kinderism.net
