			<title>Walter Lippmann Oration 2017</title>

			<description><![CDATA[<h2><img height="600" src="http://eccv.org.au/library/678.jpg" style="vertical-align: top; float: left;" width="900" /></h2><h2>Professor Gillian Triggs presents the Walter Lippmann Oration&nbsp;</h2><p><span style="font-size: 12.8px;">Professor Gillian Triggs, the President of the Australian Human Rights Commission, presented the Walter Lippmann Memorial Oration at the Melbourne Town Hall to a capacity audience on Wednesday 10 May, 2017.</span></p><p style="font-size: 12.8px;">The Walter Lippmann Memorial Oration is a major annual event that the Ethnic Communities' Council holds annually in honour of one of the ECCV'S founders.</p><p style="font-size: 12.8px;">Professor Triggs spoke about human rights within the Australian context and also internationally.</p><p style="font-size: 12.8px;">The Oration was enthusiastically received by the audience, and there was a Question and Answer session at the end where audience members were allowed to ask questions.</p><p style="font-size: 12.8px;">Professor Triggs received a standing ovation at the end of her presentation, which was described as being "outstanding" and "inspiring".</p><p style="font-size: 12.8px;">There was also a presentation by Elizabeth Compton, Chief Executive Officer of VITS (Victorian Interpreting and Translating Service) about the importance of provision of appropriate interpreting and translating services as an essential element of human rights.</p><p style="font-size: 12.8px;">The evening was hosted by ECCV and its Chairperson, Eddie Micallef, who spoke about the role of the ECCV, its proud history of advocating for ethnic and multicultural communities, and his personal recollections of Walter Lippmann.&nbsp;</p><p style="font-size: 12.8px;">Mr Micallef facilitated the Question and Answer session at the end of Professor Triggs' Oration, which he said brought forth questions that were well received by the audience.</p><h4><a href="https://www.youtube.com/embed/esxorQk9dvk?rel=0&amp;showinfo=0">To watch the video<span style="font-size: 12.8px;">, please click here.</span>&nbsp;</a></h4><h4><br /><a href="http://eccv.org.au/library/Prof._G_Triggs__W.Lippman_address_100517.pdf" target="_blank">To view the transcript of the speech, please click here.</a></h4>]]></description>

			<title>The Business of Multiculturalism Forum</title>

			<description><![CDATA[<h3 style="text-align: left;"></h3><p>The forum explored key multicultural issues and helped to connect businesses, government and diverse communities, by showcasing examples of inspirational practice and innovative solutions.</p><p>The Cultural Diversity Week Event was hosted by ECCV and Polaron Language Services and took place on March 24th at Russell Kennedy Lawyers in Melbourne CBD.
