One of the most underused types of business facility, and the one not given full recognition, is the business credit card. Although larger businesses use the business credit card to a large extent, smaller companies have not quite grasped how useful it could be to them yet. Familiarity with online banking should mean you will know exactly how easy it is to operate and your business banking will be no different with pretty much the same facilities available.

It is now quite normal for the credit card companies to provide a few incentives for the new user during their first year by waiving many of the normal fees to promote the use of the business credit card. Other business credit cards offer a viable membership rewards program that enables the member to earn points towards travel, merchandise and other rewards for his or her business. For small businesses with a good record, it is not uncommon for banks to provide large credit limits, sometimes in the region of one hundred thousand dollars and low APR's as well. No charge for checks and access to your account via a card could also be part of your package. Everyday savings or exclusive savings, express approvals, no annual fee, and up to 5 percent rebates on all qualified purchases are just a few of the many incentives used to attract new business.

Although the majority of the business credit card issuers offer great value deals, it is very important to research first what your business needs. Whether your business credit card is meant for investing in inventory or just for payroll, it is important to look for a flexible business credit card that can handle almost anything. People who are looking to obtain a small personal loan can find legitimate businesses in their community which provide these services. There are many advertisements which may appear online or through the mail, and they may not be reputable. DIY Ways To Cut Your Electricity Costs on Lighting

Compact Fluorescent Lamp aka CFL or circular fluorescent bulb. Incandescent bulbs generate light differently to a CFL bulb.

Since Thomas Edison's invention of incandescent light bulbs they have pretty much worked the same way. After electricity is connected to both sides of the carbon filament it gets hot and the outcome is light. CFLs and normal fluoro tubes contain a closed glass tube with a fluoro coating that glows when current is applied to the argon and mercury vapour inside.

You might've heard how the incandescent bulbs work but if you are using the bulb more than a couple of times a year, your money is being wasted, no matter how cheap the bulb was. Green products will help you save money. Saving around 75% in costs is the newer Energy Star compact fluorescent lights compared with the incandescent bulbs. A CFL light bulb will save you about $30 over its lifetime and pay for itself within 6 months!

There are different choices for the color of the light omitted from the CFL bulbs these days. Changing the mood of any room in the house, office, hotel etc is now very possible. The CFL color choices vary from a daylight blue to a warm yellow. If you like the mood that incandescent light bulbs produce then going for a warmer CFL light would suit you better. Be aware that the daylight or bluer light comes across as very harsh white light and can have negative effects on people that are sensitive to light.

If you look at the package that the bulb comes in it should have K for Kelvin rating, which gives you the "temperature" of the bulb. If you see a K rating of 2700K-3000K you will be getting a warm/yellow bulb. 3500K-4100K Kelvin rating will get you a cool white bulb. And if you wanted the Daylight Blue bulb look for a Kelvin rated bulb of 5000K-6500K.

If you are looking to replace 40 watt incandescent bulbs, use 9-13 watt CFL bulbs. Replace a 60 watt incandescent with a 13-15 watt CFL. Use an 18-25 watt CFL to replace a 75 watt incandescent bulb. And look for the 23-30 watt CFLs if you want to replace 100 watt incandescent bulbs.

Please remember to recycle all compact fluorescent bulbs. In some states disposing of mercury filled bulbs with solid waste rubbish is illegal. They do this as about 5 milligrams of mercury is in each CFL bulb.

Places such as ACE Hardware, Orchard (OSH), IKEA and Home Depot will take your used green CFL products and dispose of them responsibly.

If you are wanting decorative lights, consider Energy Star qualified light emitting diode (LED) bulbs. They produce the same amount of light as an equivalent incandescent bulb and use up to 90% less energy! It has been said that you can power 140 LEDs with the power required to burn one single 7 watt incandescent bulb!

So it's a good idea to use CFLs inside and outside you could try the LEDs. These will reduce your carbon footprint and save you lots of money at the same time.

Window Screens - How to Clean Them Properly

Cleaning a window screen can be a daunting task for anyone trying to do home maintenance. With so many of them to clean, it is easy to get started and quit after the first ten minutes. If you break the work up into sections, you will see how much quicker the clean up process will go.

Remove all the screens prior to cleaning. Wrong move! The job will definitely appear larger than life if you take all of the screens down at once, and you will give up more easily. Start with removing five of the screens, clean and replace those, and then remove more. Pay attention to the order in which you are taking them down, it will make it easier to know which screens fit the right window when it is time to re-install them.

Put all of the hardware in a small bag. After you finish cleaning the screens, you will need to find these tiny screws and clip and replace them. It is frustrating losing parts of your screens, especially if you lose them in the grass. Just put them in storage bag, and you will be off to a good start.

Get some mild soap, a bucket of water, and a soft bristled scrub brush. Find a nice cool area to clean your screens. Lay the screens flat on the ground, and clean both sides, using gentle brisk strokes. Scrubbing your screens roughly, will only rip them. If you happen to tear your screens while cleaning them, you can build new ones by visiting the link in the resource box at the end of this article.

Rinse the screens with clean water, after you have washed both sides. Do not skip this step. There should not be any soap left on your screens after they are rinsed. Attach a sprayer to the end of your water hose, and spray them clean with a firm stream of water.

Your screens should now be washed and rinsed. Using a dry cloth, pat the screens dry. You want to pat and blot, and not rub. If you rub the towel across the mesh, it will only catch lint, and your screens will look dingy from a distance. Some people let their screens air dry, but I recommend hand drying them, as most often the screens get damaged when left unattended.

Find the hardware that you put to the side, and put them back on the window screens. Make sure you put all of the clips back on the screens, or the screen may not stay in tact. Put the top part of the screen into the slot first, and then slide in the bottom. If you clean the rest of the screens this way, you will be finished with this easy home improvement task in no time.

Using Your Electronic Cigarette like a Tobacco Cigarette

Have you switched from tobacco to electronic and find that you are missing something? Not quite sure what it is?

There has been some talk floating around the forums that once you leave tobacco cigarettes, it isn’t only the nicotine that smokers miss, but the action, the weight of smoke in the lungs, and some of the other additives found in cigarettes. Today, we are going to give you a tip on how to use your electronic cigarette like a tobacco cigarette.

One of the issues with vapor is that it does not carry the same weight as smoke from tobacco. As there is no tar, when it is inhaled, the lungs almost feel as if they are begging to work harder, leaving for some, an unsatisfied feeling.

INSTEAD of using your electronic cigarette as a puffer, use it as a cigarette. Each time you have the desire for a tobacco cigarette, go to your favorite smoking spot. Take three drops of e-liquid and add it to your cartridge. Then, get your e-cig going by taking 3-4 quick hard puffs. You should be able to get 7-10 hard core drags off of your electronic ciggy after that. They will be heavy in vapor. Electronic Cigarettes; Health, Safety, and Quit Smoking Claims

Electronic cigarettes are not healthy or safe. Anything that you inhale is probably not good for you….except for air…..except air in any major city in the world.

But lets compare the electronic cigarette to tobacco cigarettes. There is no tar, arsenic, carbon monoxide, or hydrogen cyanide in electronic cigarette vapor. These things are present in tobacco smoke. There have been some TSNAs (tobacco specific nitrosamines) found in some electronic cigarette vapor, but these are present in much greater quantities in tobacco cigarettes and are even found in low levels in FDA approved NRTs such as nicotine gum and the patch.

So is the electronic cigarette healthier than tobacco cigarettes? We can’t say yet without further testing. But consumers should have all the information and ask themselves questions like; if we took the tar, arsenic, carbon monoxide, and hydrogen cyanide out of Brand A tobacco cigarettes, would Brand A be healthier than other cigarettes? I think consumers can make this determination for themselves.

The problem with making specific claims about cigarettes or tobacco of any kind is two fold. First, it can give the impression that tobacco and specifically smoking, is in any way healthy, which it is not. Even relative marketing statements such as “healthier” and “safer” can give the idea that the e-cigarette is some how good for you, which it is not. Smoking is bad for you.

The second issue with making health or safety claims is that this gives the FDA a position to attempt to take the e-cigarette out of the hands of the long term smokers who use the electronic cigarette. Before you can make a health claim (or smoking cessation claim), you must have FDA approval. This means doing the testing they require and writing them a rather large check.

So it is important that marketers of the electronic cigarette walk that fine line of convincing long time, dedicated smokers to try an electronic cigarette and marketing to those who don’t smoke or are under age.

So what is our position at INSTEAD? We don’t think this is a quit smoking device, as it is still “smoking” in effect. We also don’t think this product is healthy. We just think that of age people who choose the legal action of smoking should have the choice to smoke the electronic cigarette, which doesn’t have tar, arsenic, carbon monoxide, or hydrogen cyanide in it. We don’t make the determination of whether or not this is healthier for any particular smoker. We sell to adults and they can make that decision for themselves.

Prominent Public Health Physicians and Tobacco Researchers Expose Double Standard in the FDA’s Recent Study of Electronic Cigarettes

BOSTON, July 27 — The FDA recently went public with misleading information about the safety of electronic cigarettes and the marketing of the devices, not only using its clout but recruiting other prominent organizations to demonize a product that has great public health benefit potential.

A group of prominent doctors and tobacco researchers, including Dr. Michael Siegel at the Boston University School of Public Health, Dr. Joel Nitzkin of the AAPHP Tobacco Control Task Force, and Dr. Brad Rodu, Endowed Chair, Tobacco Harm Reduction Research University of Louisville, challenge the FDA to provide the full quantitative data of the study upon which the FDA has based its warning against electronic cigarettes. They are concerned that the FDA’s disingenuous targeting of electronic cigarettes through a biased presentation of the scientific data has had significant negative impact upon the public perception of electronic cigarettes, when the best available evidence suggests that these have shown that the devices offer great potential to reduce serious health issues among traditional tobacco smokers.

In a July 22 news release, the FDA cited the detectable presence of carcinogens and “toxic chemicals” in a “small sample” of electronic cigarette cartridges as reason for alarm, singling out nitrosamines as particularly toxic. What the FDA fails to inform the public is that detectable amounts of carcinogens are also present in nicotine replacement products such as NicoDerm CQ and Nicorette gum, both approved by the FDA, and nitrosamines that can be also found in food items such bacon and beer. This double standard and alarmist attitude has had the significant and unfortunate effect of inducing hysteria among the public, discouraging tobacco smokers from using a product which is thought to be a significantly safer alternative to traditional tobacco.

Regrettably, the FDA has used biased reporting of this small and inconclusive study, the complete results of which have not been made public, to secure the vocal support of groups such as the American Academy of Pediatrics Tobacco Consortium, the Institute for Global Health, and the American Lung Association in their attack on electronic cigarettes. These researchers argue that it is absurd to consider taking electronic cigarettes off the market when it is the conventional ones which have been shown to be killing people. Further, the electronic cigarette community calls for accurate and fair reporting relative to the findings and statements of prominent medical professionals in favor of this new and important technology and challenges the media to tell the other side of the story.

“The FDA’s laboratory findings actually indicate that electronic cigarettes are much, much safer than conventional cigarettes,” says Dr. Michael Siegel. “The traces of carcinogens present are also present in nicotine replacement products. The FDA and the anti-smoking groups have fallen into a huge analytical trap as they have failed to ask the appropriate question. The question they are asking is: ‘Are electronic cigarettes safe?’ That is not the right question. The right question is: ‘Are electronic cigarettes much safer than traditional ones?’”

Dr. Rodu states, “The FDA tested e-cigarettes for TSNAs using a questionable sampling regimen, and the methods that were so sensitive that the results may have no possible significance to users. The agency failed to report specific levels of these contaminants, and it has failed to conduct similar testing of nicotine medicines that have been sold in the U.S. for over 20 years. These are not the actions of an agency that is science-based and consumer-focused. These pseudo-scientific actions are clearly intended to form the justification for banning a category of products that are probably 99.9% safer than cigarettes.”

Dr. Joel Nitzkin speaking as individual states, “The newly adopted FDA/Tobacco legislation will give full FDA approval to currently marketed conventional cigarettes. The new law encourages cigarette companies to produce new “reduced exposure” cigarettes to be marketed as reduced exposure products, with no scientific evidence that such reductions in exposure will reduce risk of future tobacco related illness and death. In the context of these provisions of the newly adopted FDA/Tobacco bill — FDA should be encouraging, not maligning the manufacture and sale of electronic cigarettes, and working with manufacturers to assure the highest possible quality control.”
