I think its a horrible plan. 2-3 iced coffees? You know how many calories are in 1???? Any soft drink especially if not diet has a good amount of calories…the lunch is going to set you up for failure when it comes to dinner. You need to eat 6x a day small portions 75-80% of that fruits/veggies/grains. Just because you cut back on portions doesnt mean you can eat whatever you want. You will need to do more exercising and less ankle weights (unless you want your calves to be really toned)

you need to rethink what you eat and eat healthy..try this website for good meal planning and see if your dad will help you since he prolly does the cooking/shopping…get the whole family invovled in healthy eating!

Walk around the block after school to get some good exercise…

Foods that help in weight loss?

I’ve recently seen these diet programs that claim eating certain foods/portions help dramatically in weight loss, it seems to make sense but can anyone verify this? and if so, can you point me to a site with some free meal plans..

Is this an exceptional weight loss plan?

Okay, I am 14, and i am buying p90x soon. I am also doing wrestiling this year which is mainly why i want to lose alot of weight.
I weigh 197, And am 5 feet 9 inches tall.

My plan is as follows:
Breakfast – correct portion of special k cereal and a banana.
Lunch – Lean cuisine microwave meal or a salad and 5-10 chunks of fruit
Dinner – lean cuisine meal or lean meat, vegetables, fruit for desert.
A small snack of fruit sometime mid day
all of these meals accompanied by water (Except for dinner, which may include some skim milk, I have a calcium deficiency )

Sleep schedule – Bed at 9:30, awake at 6:00
(I have to wake up at 6:00 for school anyway)
which should be 8 and a half hours of sleep.

Workout schedule
30 minute jog when i wake up, followed by breakfast
during the school year i have wrestling practice (This involves jogging three miles during the season, and lifting etc during off-season.)
P90x after an hour of free time at home
at 8:50 i will go jog for 30 minutes, then go to bed.

do you guys think this is a good plan?
How long would you think it would take to drop 40-50 pounds (My ideal weight)?

Pete Genot answers:

If you work diligently then 4-5 months. You cant rush it too much because then you’ll end up gaining the weight back. Also when you excercise dont overdo it no matter how much people push you. You can really hurt yourself if you overdo it. If your body gives you a signal that you need to stop, you really should. I am saying that because i used to overdo my works out and then i really got hurt in my knees. My knees would hurt and i would keep excercising and it came to apoint where i couldnt climb stairs or walk too much.

Just be careful. Your diet sounds fine although i dont really think special K is all too great of a cereal for early morning. It has a lot of sugar despite its claims. Something better for a breakfast would be raisin bran with milk and if you’re still hungry add a slice of bread. Raising bran has a lot of fiber so it will fill you up quickly.

Also you need to mix up your diet. If you have the same thing everyday, you’re going to get tired of it. You need to make sure you’re incorporating all the nutriets into your diet, that includes carbohydrates. Carbohydrates give you energy and you need energy.

Weight loss plan ?? What do you think !? ?

Breakfast : green tea and a glass of water then a low fat yogurt

Lunch : a yummy salad that contains (cucumbers – carrots – lettuce – tomato – olives – ………. and mushrooms) OR a brown bread Tuna sandwich

Dinner : all kinds of fruits (apples – oranges – peaches………..)

And for exercise I do :
1 hour of walking
1 hour of dancing
30 minutes of cardio
15 minutes of jumping on our trampoline
15 minutes of playing basket ball

+plus I drink a cup of green tea after every meal = 3 cups of green tea per day “i’ve heard it helps to lose weight”

So what do you think ?? will I lose weight by doing this ??

Hi, I lost 85 pounds on Weight Watchers (six years ago) and you’re right, it is a great diet. Their tips are the same as all weight loss programs. What makes their diet so successful is the support system they offer and the fact that you learn to eat REAL food in proper amounts. If you go to easy-weightloss-tips (you know what to put in front and behind it), you’ll see a tab called “Weight Loss Tips.” There are about 5-6 pages of tips that are very helpful. (My link is blocked today because I used it too much, so I can’t put it below to help you get there…sorry.)

Let’s start…..I weighed 190 pounds and I lost 65 pounds……..I will share my experience with u………..first of all don’t expect any weight loss for one week when u make any changes in your diet or start exercising……..your body will need sometime to change itself into fat burning mode ….first week eliminate all bad things from your diet …..like all processed foods, oily foods, sugary foods and fatty foods and all junk, ice creme, soda, chips , biscuits and all fast foods etc……. And replace them with low fat, low sugar, low sodium , whole grain foods etc……..then make a weight loss plan for yourself…….u should eat 5 times a day , breakfast, snack, lunch, snack and dinner………this week u will be changing your bad routine and creating a new good one……also try to analyze wut u do wrong and why have u gained all this weight so that u can change your behavior towards food……..u will have to develop a new relationship with food all over…….and probably some of your bad habits too….try to chose healthy foods for all meals ….some tips to chose healthy meals for your plan

1. Try eating protein for breakfast….egg whites or protein shake
2. Snack should be any fresh fruit u like……..strawberries, pineapple, apple, black grapes, watermelon are all great for weight loss cos they are full of nutrients and have antioxidant properties as well
3. Eat lots of raw veggie salad before lunch so that u still feel full and then eat whole wheat bread tuna sandwich etc…..
4. Drink green tea to boost metabolism with some drops of lemon and honey
5. Another great snack option is a cup of low-fat yogurt ……..its great for permanent fat loss
6. A handful of almonds, pumpkin seeds or sunflower seeds are examples of good fat as a snack and they provide lots of energy and keep blood sugar stable so that u don’t any cravings
7. Dinner should be lots of soup or stir-fried vegetables……..try not eating rice or bread for dinner …eat them for lunch after salad
8 if u feel like eating dessert try eating pineapple or mangoes or any sweet fruit like dates etc.

We all have wellness goals we want to reach, and we all know what we need to do to reach them. But sometimes success isn’t a matter of knowledge and desire; it’s a matter of motivation. See if any of these thoughts sound familiar:

“I was very excited to stick to my meal plan the first couple weeks, but after a while I lost my drive.”

“If I don’t see results right away, I get discouraged and stop exercising.”

“It’s too hard to be good when my end goal seems so far away.”

Getting discouraged with your results or disinterested with your goals is natural. But there are some simple, effective ways to overcome this discouragement and stay motivated.

1. TRACK PROGRESS
You’ve got an end goal in sight. In order to reach that goal−you need to designate steps along the way. Small goals. In order to do this effectively you need to track your progress.

There are many numbers, figures, and indicators that you can choose to track. The most obvious one, of course, is weight. But reaching your wellness goals isn’t just about shedding pounds. Other factors, like the inches on your waist and arms, your BMI, your cholesterol, your heart rate when exercising, and your blood pressure can be important to
track as well.

Keep track of your progress in a journal. You can create a section for measurements of your upper arms, chest, waist, hips, and thighs. You can also log your weight, vital statistics, and exercise. Nothing makes this easier than VFL.com. Make a note when you improve in an area. Check back on your old scores often, and remind yourself of the improvements you make. Any progress—great or small—is cause for celebration.

2. REWARD YOURSELF
Looking good, feeling great, and staying healthy are all great rewards for reaching your wellness goals. But sometimes you need to give yourself a little more incentive to help you along the way. Having small rewards set up for reaching milestones is a great way to keep yourself focused and motivated.

Set milestones for yourself, and have a reward set up for each time you reach them. Here are a few milestone ideas to get you started:

every five pounds you lose
every inch you lose off your waist
extra time or weight added to your workout
It is best to have your goals and rewards set out ahead of time and written down. Keep them posted in a conspicuous place that you see every day. This will keep them in the front of your mind and will help you see your progress towards your reward.

And make sure your rewards are healthy ones. Going out for steak and sundaes after you’ve reached a weight loss milestone is probably not a good idea. You want to steer clear of food rewards that are not on track with your meal plan. Instead, buy yourself a new outfit, go shopping for a new CD, play an extra round of golf, or get a massage. There are plenty of healthy rewards you can give yourself for reaching these smaller goals on your way to total physical wellness.

3. GET FIT WITH A LITTLE HELP FROM YOUR FRIENDS
In order to lose weight, you’ve got to have a support network. Family, friends, and coworkers can help you reach your wellness goals, but only if they know about them. This may mean stepping out of your comfort zone a little bit, but it can be worth it. Knowing that your friends and coworkers are aware of your goals will help you want to stick to your meal and exercise plans in social situations. Your support network will be able to assist you when you are faced with difficult choices, and help you stay positive and motivated.

Losing weight is not easy, especially when your enthusiasm is down. But tracking your progress, recognizing improvements, rewarding yourself, and creating a support network can help you stay motivated and continue your meal and exercise plans, which will bring you that much closer to reaching your wellness goals.

I am a Wellness Coach with a company committed to promoting a healthy lifestyle. Exercise (visiting the gym on a routine schedule, even walking for 30 mins every day) combined with a meal plan you will see results if you are dedicated and motivated. Good Luck!

Healthy Weight Loss Diet Plans For Seniors?

I am helping my mom with her diet, but she is worried that many diets are just not going to be healthy for her.
Many people struggle hard to reduce their weights. Right now, there a lot of programs created to help such people in their respective weight loss endeavor. And to help them fully, here are some important weight loss tips beginners should follow to make sure their chosen program work for them flawlessly:

1. Make sure that you reduce the quantity of your food.
In order to lose weight, you have to watch your meal servings. And it won’t matter if you’re at home or dining out. But you have to be most especially watchful when eating inside restaurants. You might order big chunks of meat because of the juicy ad you see in the menu. The rule of thumb is this: eat just enough to address your hunger. Never stuff yourself with food.

2. Exercise is key.
Exercise causes the body to burn fats. And no diet works without the help of a good exercise regime. All weight loss tips appearing in health magazines and over the internet will tell you that regular exercise could help you a lot in reducing your body mass index. A handful of people can’t be wrong. So don’t skip an exercise routine at the gym.

A healthy diet plan for someone who is pregnant?

Pete Genot answers:

While you are pregnant, you will need additional nutrients to keep you and your baby healthy. But, that does not mean you need to eat twice as much. You should only eat an extra 300 calories per day. A baked potato has 120 calories. So getting these extra 300 calories doesn’t take a lot of food.

The ADA recommends that pregnant women eat a total of 2,500 to 2,700 calories every day. These calories should come from a variety of healthy foods.

Small older dog- nutrition questions.?

I am watching my moms dog for a few weeks here is her story:

she is a 10 year old miniature Schnauzer, a few weeks ago she had all but 2 teeth removed because they were all infected and causing her pain (something i convinced my mom to get done because she was suffering) She seemed to heal up really well and now she is back on hard food (mixed with some water). She has a disinterest for food which is obviously because of the difficulty in eating it but my mom does not want to feed her wet food. (the vet said its ok to feed her moist hard kibble)

Question is: can I add a small spoonfull of natural plain yogurt to her food each feeding (2x a day) to encourage her to eat and will it help with her gums healing more?

I know this is getting long but another reason i wanted to give her yogurt is because she had a huge matt on her vaginal area and I was able to safely remove it, but she is all swollen and it seems her anus is also swollen. (seems infected) i cannot bring her to the vet for a few days or so because I have no money at the moment, but I am doing epsom salt shallow baths and making her sit in them 2x a day for 5-10 mins. I am also wondering if i should give her flaxseed meal to help express the anal gland?

Hope someone who knows a lot about animal nutrition can help!
does anyone know if the flaxseed meal will help as well, and if its ok to mix it all.
she is spayed, i just read online that the flaxseed meal will help her anal glands express naturally?

Plain yogurt is fine. Moist hard kibble is good. It is best to stay away from a complete diet of canned food unless that is all that she can masticate (chew). I tablespoon of canned food mixed with the moist hard kibble is fine and should get her to eat.

Concerning the “swelling”. Is she spayed? It could be a sign of endometriosis or pyometra. This is a serious condition and not uncommon in the older female dog. This must be taken care of asap should it be so. The anal glands probably need expressing. This has to be done by squeezing each side of the anal gland so the substance can be expressed. Should the anal glands not get expressed they will “blow” and you will have another problem. Diet will not help her with this. Your vet can do the simple procedure for her.

Healthiest thing to eat at PANDA EXPRESS?

I cannot get the entrees, it is way too much food for my small frame and I get full very quickly. I’m a health nut but I’m invited to a dinner at panda express…SO, what is the least harmful thing I can get there?
Which is less harmful?
I think the rice tastes less greasy but the nutrition facts indicate that the chow mein is actually less fattier.

I think you need to find a good reason to past up the invitation for dinning at the Panda Express. First thing is that no matter what you order, it is prepared in oil, or some type of sauce, just that will send you into a problem area to start with. I have eaten at two different Panda Express locations, they don’t cook the food the same way, it all depends on the person preparing the food.
You have far to many food problem areas to address by going to any Panda Express location. Panda Express are just fast food outlets for people that don’t want to go to a good Chinese restaurant, and in your case a good reason to stay away from because of the problem areas you listed.

You need to get most of your calories from fat, not carbs to lose weight more easily. The problem is that Panda Express uses canola oil or soybean oil that is very bad for you. When they first pour the junk out of the bottle it is rancid and then when the heat it slightly, it forms trans fats and it doesn’t matter the bottle states no trans fats, because it forms these trans fats when heated even slightly.

If Panda Express really cared about your health, they would use olive oil or a more saturated fat like lard that is very stable and is good for you, in spite of what you have heard from the lunatics that have no clue what they are talking about in regard to fats and oils.

You should regulate your diet in such a way that you get about 75 grams of carbohydrates per day. It is very rare to find a restaurant that cares about your health or uses good oils and fats. I have NOT found one yet and am still looking.

A quick not on sodium: Sodium is NOT bad for you and you need to eat salt everyday for good health. That Morton salt you buy in the Mausoleums where dead food is held in state can be found is junk. It contains dextrose (sugar), aluminum (heavy metal bad for your thyroid), and the salt is made by heating it to 1,100 degrees and destroys the trace minerals, leaving the junk salt. Air dried sea salt is the best and it contains lots of trace minerals and is very good for you. You should be getting at least 1 tsp. Of that or more per day into your body.

SALT is not bad for you. It is the imbalance of salt to potassium that is the problem. An imbalance of either of these in excess will harm you. These lunatics telling you NOT to eat salt are simply ignorant and should be locked away somewhere so they can’t harm people with their so called, “expert advice.” As an example, I challenge you to find any credible study that shows salt causes high blood pressure, yet doctors and others tell people with high blood pressure to not eat salt. Crazy stuff going on out there.

Good luck to you

-the weight it makes you lose is basically water weight, not fat

They make their products with nearly all organic products, so that it is good for you. I lost about 60 lbs in 3.5 months and have kept it off since. Check it out and let me know.

If you cut caffeine out of your diet, that could be the reason. Caffeine often gives people a “withdrawal” when they quit drinking it, and one of the main symptoms is headaches and irritability.
If that’s the case, then the headaches should being to fade, and eventually go away.

If it’s not the caffeine, maybe your body wasn’t ready for an immediate and drastic change of diet. (For example, if you used to eat a high fat, high sugar diet, and all of the sudden you stopped eating fat and sugars, your body will not like the change, and it may react in an unpleasant way.)

Either way, the headaches should go away or lighten up soon. I suggest you drink plenty of water, and exercise and rest

Diets don’t work they are to hard to stick to. IF you truly want to lose weight and keep it off for good there are a few things you have to do. Portion control, eat what a TRUE serving is!!!! Eat about six small meals instead of three large ones, Eat more fruits and vegetables and whole grains. Cut down on your protein we as Americans eat more than our bodies truly need any way. And exercise even if you just add 15 minutes a day walking into your day you will start to lose weight, if you do all of the other things also. You don’t have to stop eating what you like, You just have to eat it in the correct portions rather than what we’ve gotten used to. IF you do this you will lose weight, maybe not as fast as you would like but you will lose weight and you will keep it off. The faster that you lose weight usually the faster that you gain it back again. We need to eat more like our parents did and less like the media would want us to.

Well I recently dropped ALL bad foods out of my life
ex: pork, anything with added sugar, normal breads(esp. White bread), chocolate(raw cacao beans are fine, but they’re very bitter), cereal, cheese, etc.
I did this to prevent from getting diseases in the future but if you want to do it for only about a month or so thats cool to. I’ve lost almost 10 pounds in about a week and a half…..
What I eat is oatmeal and whole grains and rice, plus fruits and veggies, seeds, and nuts and plenty of water.
Plus I don’t overeat since thats bad to do.
I hope this helped : )

The fastest way to lose weight and still be healthy is to eat 1,200-1,500 calories and do at least an hour of cardio 6 times a week, as well as at least 2 30 minute weight training sessions. Depending on how much you weigh and how hard you work out, you can lose like 5 pounds a week this way. Good luck!

Drink lots of water, eat fruits and vegetables, don’t eat untill your full, and if your hungry at night eat foods less then 300 calories. And to lose the weight do cardio which is running, walking etc…. Also do cycling. I am trying to lose weight also, I am a male 200 lbs, large frame, 5″10 inches tall and my goal is to lose 20 pounds, and this has been working for me.

Pete Genot answers:

Firstly, basically “ever” cearel you’ll ever find will be low in fat. Cearels, are just naturally like that, some tend to be high in sugars and carbohydrates thoe. If you’re talking about granola, it tends to be higer in fat’s – but there healthy.

I’v heard the following are some of the best out there.
- Total
- Cherrios
- Kashi
- Optimum
- And more (just make sure there under 9g of sugar and more than 3g of fiber!- I personally love cherrios, and raisin bran)

On- The- Go- Snack Ideas:
- Fruit: Apple, Orange, Banana, chopped fruit, 1/4 cup dried fruit, etc …
- Granola bars: Ex: Fiber one, all bran, special K, Nature Valley, etc …
- Hummus & Flatbread
- Veggies & Dip
- 100 calorie snack packages
- Homemade Trail mix: 1/4 cup dried fruit, 1/4 cup nuts, 3/4 cup dry cearels
- Crackers & 1- 2oZ cheese/ 2 tbsp light cream cheese
- 4 slices lean deli meat & veggies: turkey, chicken, ham, roast beef, etc…
- Juice box/ 1% milk
- Sugar free pudding/ lowfat: Or rice pudding
- Lowfat yoghurt
- Cottage cheese
- Applesauce
- Cheese string

Hope i’v helped, and best of luck!

It all depends on the sport, and division the school is in. I swam my whole life up until college, but then decided to row competitively and joined the team. I rowed for a D1 team which is the most competitive. I had practice 6 days a week (monday through saturday) from 5-8am and weights/endurance training on MWF from 4-6pm.Athletes always have a special advisor to help them figure out their classes and schedules. Decoracion . These advisors will help them get into certain classes and help to figure out the best route to take to reach your academic goal. In my case, I had a few morning/early afternoon classes on MWF and then later classes on T/TH. Paintless Dent Removal Denver . We had trainers and nutrition guidelines that we tried to follow, but for the most part we did this on our own and went to the dining hall with other students.

Please Help Me. I am in desperate need for some meal plans.?

Hi,Hi, I am an athlete in school. I paddle and play tennis as well as take contemporary dance (4 days a week). I recently went to the doctor and was diagnosed with IBS. She told me to drastically cut down the amount of carbs i eat . I have been trying to eat low carb for about two weeks now, but I am always hungry and I never feel satisfied after a meal. I would appreciate some sample meal plans for several days that i could go by. I am very athletic and active,so I need sufficient calories. Also, I do not eat any red meat. I eat chicken, fish, and some seafood, but never had a taste of meat in my life. I constantly get a stomach ache, cramps, and bloating after eating, not to mention some other nasty side effects. I have been eating a chicken breast for lunch every day, but let me tell ya, its really boring. If anyone can help, I am open for any suggestions. I would appreciate some help with this.

Are you a Type 1 diabetic? Have you been screened for Celiac Disease? Up to 30% of those with autoimmune (Type 1) diabetes also have this autoimmune disorder as well. The screening test is simple, and the treatment is effective and straightforward…a gluten free diet for life. Note: Do not stop eating gluten until you have been tested, or your test may come back falsely negative.Type 1 diabetics are also prone to other autoimmune bowel disorders. You may also want to be screened for food allergies, especially if you have other symptoms.Diabetes can also result in autonomic nerve damage, affecting the digestion of food.”IBS” is often used in many cases of misdiagnosis. I would check to make sure something else is not going on.You may also want to see a dietician regardless of your diagnosis to make sure you are getting a proper diet. Please follow up on additional testing.

Ok, first off if u should ask your doctor for some advise and if your not fat 10 pounds is a lot of weight to lose hun, you don’t want to get sick or any thing cause then you might not be able to play sports because your body will be to weak to be active in that sort of way. So just eat health Veggies, fruits, milk, and for a treat maybe some “fat free” frozen yogurt (peach is the best) and remember no big macs. Hope i helped hun, best luck to you.

Pete Genot answers:

Yeah, that’s actually a really good amount of body fat for a girl. Anything less than that is verging into athletic territory and that’s when you start to see muscle definition such as abs and biceps. And if you go below 12%-15% then this can cause you to stop menstruating and also lead to weak, brittle bones due to lack of oestrogen.

Pete Genot answers:

Any lower body exercise like walking, stair climbing, even swimming will help. But you have to eat right. They key is to burn off the excess fat. Eat 6 small meals a day. Good real food. Some protein every time you eat, plenty of fruits and vegetables. Bathroom Remodeling Pasadena . Drink lot of water.
