Apologies for not updating the site after the matches last weekend. We got served by a notice from the FA to take off Video content from the site. So unfortunately we won't be able to showcase any Videos here anymore, but we'll try and include links.

All this will be sorted when we switch to our dedicated servers.

Well no EPL this weekend because of International matches. England look set to crash out from Euro 2008!

EPL Weekend 13 - Fixtures

EPL Weekend #13:

Saturday:

Sunderland vs Newcastle:
After getting thrashed at home against Portsmouth last weekend, the Magpies would be looking at making some amends in the Wear-Tyne derby match. I'd expect a hard fought draw.

Derby vs West Ham:
Derby fans would be looking for a strong performance from their team at home this season. West Ham fans on the other hand would be expecting 3 points from this game, especially if the Hammers are looking to push for a European slot for next year.

Liverpool vs Fulham:
Liverpool thrashed Besiktas 8-0 mid-week and will be brimming with confidence, but Benitez is sure to tinker with the squad as always and they might actually slip up another 2 points today especially against the Premiership draw specialists - Fulham.

Sunday:

Bolton vs Middlesbrough:
Two teams which are definitely struggling this season. Both have made their worst ever starts to a Premier League campaign. Bolton should be able to nick victory in this match and also considering the fact that Middlesbrough haven't won here in the last 5 visits.

Chelsea vs Everton:
Chelsea haven't conceeded a goal in more than 7 and a half hours of Premiership football and finally seem to have a pretty nice attacking flair about them. It's definitely going to be tough for David Moyes' men to get anything out of this match but I wouldn't be surprised if they stick on for a stubborn draw.

Tottenham vs Wigan:
3 points on a platter for Tottenham and they can't afford to lose this chance. It's about time they get their season back in shape.

Birmingham vs Aston Villa:
The Birmingham city derby is never boring! I'm sure some of you might still remember the freak Peter Enckelman own goal back in 2002 in a hotly contested clash between these two teams.

Man Utd vs Blackburn:
This ones going to be a cracker of a match. Blackburn have taken points off Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea this season and I have feeling they might upset United too. A draw is definitely on the cards.

Portsmouth vs Man City:
Two teams which have done exceptionally well this season and definitely deserve their place in the Top 5 of the table. A draw seems the obvious out-come but a single goal could settle this game in either teams favour.

Monday:

Reading vs Arsenal:
Arsenal will be looking at continuing their great start to the season but Reading will definitely put up a strong fight.

EPL Weekend 12 - Results

This weekend saw the clash of the giants and table toppers - Arsenal and Manchester United. Chelsea had an opportunity to climb back to third place and try and close the gap between the leaders and them. Liverpool and Blackburn also went head-to-head with both the teams on the same no. of points.

Results:

Arsenal 2-2 Manchester United:
A typical match between the arch-rivals. Video highlights of this match can be seen here.

Aston Villa 2-0 Derby:
Villa claimed 3 points at home with a comfortable win over top relegation contenders Derby County.

Everton 3-1 Birmingham:
Everton ran-out 3-1 winners at Goodison Park against Birmingham City.

Fulham 3-1 Reading:
Fulham registered a win after a really long time and victory took them to the 13th spot in the table.

Middlesbrough 1-1 Tottenham:
Bent scored for the Spurs but Young hammered home a stunner to equalise for Boro. Things not looking good for Tottenham but the draw finally got them off the relegation zone.

Newcastle 1-4 Portsmouth:
Portsmouth shocked a lot of people and humiliated the Magpies at St James' Park. The game started of at a blistering pace with 4 goals in the first quarted of the match. With victory Portsmouth now move into the Top 4 of the table and given the fact that they've already played the Big 4 - they deserve all the credit.

Wigan 0-2 Chelsea:
Chelsea picked up a comfortable victory at Wigan. Lampard scored the first while Belleti scored his first goal for the Blues and it sure was a brilliant one.

Blackburn 0-0 Liverpool:
Blackburn continue their good form and maintain their place in the top 5 of the table. A hard fought draw for Liverpool and they are slipping away from the leaders with each passing week.

Game of the Week for EPL Weekend 12:

A typical fiesty clash between arch-rivals Arsenal and Manchester United saw it end in high drama with Gallas grabbing a late equaliser in injury time.

Earlier Rooney put Man U ahead only for Fabregas to equalise minutes into the second half. Ronaldo seemed to have won the points for Man U 9 minutes from time but Gunners' skipper William Gallas had other things on his head and headed in just before the end.

EPL Weekend 11 - Results

Anyways it was a highly eventful weekend in the Premiership with Chelsea thrashing Manchester City 6-0 and Liverpool and Arsenal fighting out a 1-1 draw. The misery meanwhile continued for Tottenham.

Results:

Birmingham 3-2 Wigan Athletic:
A close game which could have gone either way. After a strong start to the season, Wigan have now slipped into the bottom 5 of the table.

Chelsea 6-0 Manchester City:
Carnage at the Bridge as a rampant Chelsea walked over a hapless City squad. It seemed like a match between table toppers and relegation contenders. City continue to lie 3rd in the table while Chelsea have now moved up to 4th position.

Manchester United 4-1 Middlesbrough:
Middlesbrough surprised United when they drew level in the 6th minute and frustrated United in the first half. But Rooney and Tevez combined beautifully in the second half to knock to wind out of Southgate's boys.

Reading 2-1 Newcastle:
After beating Spurs last weekend - this was supposed to be an easy game for the Magpies but Steve Coppell's team had other ideas and Reading fought for a well deserved victory.

Sunderland 1-1 Fulham:
Both the teams would have liked to register a victory but played out a draw which leaves them both at 9 points hovering near the relegation zone.

Porstmouth 0-0 West Ham:
Green was the star as both the Goal keepers managed to keep a clean sheet and Portsmouth are looking pretty good in the top half of the table, but they need to win games like these if they want to finish in the top 6 this year.

Bolton 1-1 Aston Villa:
Anelka scored for the Trotters as new manager Gary Megson managed to grab his first points for Bolton. Last couple of seasons Aston Villa would have been quite pleased with such a result at the Reebok Stadium but this time around they would be thinking - 2 points dropped!

Derby 0-2 Everton:
Derby look pretty doomed for relegation though this season still has a long way to go.

Tottenham 1-2 Blackburn:
Blackburn continue to impress while Tottenham continue to dissapoint. Blackburn lie in the 5th position, ahead of Liverpool and joint on points with Chelsea. Tottenham will be hoping their fortunes take a change with the change in manager.

Liverpool 1-1 Arsenal:
Liverpool and Arsenal fought out a draw at Anfield. Gerrard scored for the Kops while Fabregas equalised for the Gunners.

EPL Weekend 10 - Results

Everton 1-2 Liverpool
Liverpool were really lucky to grab at win at the Merseyside derby after the Referee awarded them 2 penalties and sent off 2 Everton players. Everton themselves were robbed of 2 clear penalty appeals and after dominating much of the game they would definitely be more than just dissapointed.

Arsenal 2-0 Bolton
Bolton put up a good show and frustrated Arsenal for long periods of time before a Kolo Toure free-kick put Arsenal in the lead. Rosicky added the second late into the 2nd half.

Blackburn 4-2 Reading
Blackburn dominated Reading and registered a solid 4-2 victory at Ewood Park. Victory ensure that Rovers retain their 6th position in the league.

Fulham 0-0 Derby
A clash between two relegation threatened teams ended 0-0 and Fulham extend their winless streak to 8 games. At least Derby managed to end the series of 5 consecutive Away defeats.

Man City 1-0 Birmingham
Man City continue to get the results even when they are not playing well. They were pretty lucky to grab a win against Birmingham and need to thank the amazingly consistent Elano Blumer.

Middlesbrough 0-2 Chelsea
Chelsea finally look like their old self. Drogba has made public his displeasure at Chelsea but he ensured that he kept slotting in the goals. Alex scored his first goal for Chelsea via a sizzling free-kick.

Aston Villa 1-4 Man United
Man United ran riot against a strong Aston Villa side who were made to look pretty puny! Everyone expected a stronger performance by Villa at home but Rooney and Co. had other ideas.

West Ham 3-1 Sunderland
The scoreline looks flattering and the match was much closer than that. A freakish own goal turned the game in West Hams favour and Bellamy added a third right at the end to ensure the win for the Hammers.

Newcastle 3-1 Tottenham
Newcastle added to woes of Tottenham by registering a comprehensive at St. James' Park. One gets the feeling that Martin Jol is just days away from a sack. A bottom 3 position after such a massive amount of pre-season spending is simply unacceptable.

EPL Weekend 10 - Fixtures and Predictions

EPL Weekend #10:

An action packed weekend sees some real exciting games lined up...

Saturday:

Everton vs Liverpool:
The EPL Weekend kicks off with the Merseyside derby and this ones going to be a fierce battle. Victory for Everton will move them on level points with Liverpool. Torres would be relishing his first Premiership derby after playing in many Madrid derbys back at Athletico.
Prediction: 1-1

Arsenal vs Bolton:
Arsenal will be looking at increasing their lead at the top of the Premiership table while Bolton who are manager-less at the moment would be desperate for some points. The Trotters are languishing at the bottom of the table with only goal difference keeping them away from rock bottom Derby. But Bolton have always be a bogey side of sorts for Arsenal and I think they would be able off a draw.
Prediction: 2-2

Blackburn vs Reading:
Blackburn have surprised quite a few this season and currently lie 6th in the table. They weren't active in the transfer season but their only buy - the talismanic striker Roque Santa Cruz has been a big success so far. Thought he's on the injured list, Mark Hughes would be eyeing a victory against a Reading squad which is struggling to find form.
Prediction: 1-0

Fulham vs Derby:
A bottom of the table clash sees Fulham take on Derby and both teams would be desperate for all three points. Fulham are on long winless streak of 7 games while Derby would be keen the end the run of five straight league defeats away.
Prediction: 2-0

Manchester City vs Birmingham City:
High-flying Manchester City will be looking to defend their 100 per cent home record against Birminigham City. Birmingham have a pretty non-enviable away record.
Prediction: 1-0

Middlesbrough vs Chelsea:
Middlesbrough have managed to beat Chelsea at home in the previous two seasons and Southgate's men will be eyeing a hat-trick of victories against the Blues. Chelsea are facing a defensive nightmare with John Terry and Ashley Cole picking up injuries during their international duty with England.
Prediction: 0-1

Wigan Athletic vs Portsmouth:
Portsmouth have had one of the most difficult fixture calenders and have already face all of the Big 4 and still lie in the top 5! A victory today could see them finish the day at fourth. Latics would be keen to spoil the party though.
Prediction: 1-1

Aston Villa vs Manchester United:
Villa will be looking for their fifth straight home win and even Manchester United are in pretty good form. This ones going to be a close match and I reckon a draw would be the outcome.
Prediction: 1-1

Sunday:

West Ham vs Sunderland:
West Ham should be able to record an easy victory against the Black Cats at home.
Prediction: 2-0

Monday:

Newcastle vs Tottenham:
A mouth-watering Monday night clash and this game is sure to be full of goals. Defeat might signal the end of Martin Jol's reign at Tottenham. Tottenham are still looking at their first away victory of the season and I don't think they'll be able to record it against the Magpies.
Prediction: 2-2

EPL Weekend 8 - Latest Results

Chelsea continue dropping points and have now slumped to 7th in the league. Who would have expected that at the start of the season?

Manchester United and Liverpool both managed un-convincing 1-0 wins away from home. United defeated Birmingham thanks to a Christiano Ronaldo goal and Liverpool had substitute Yossi Benayoun to thank for the goal against Wigan Athletic.

Arsenal continued their march at the top of the table with a win against West Ham in a London derby which saw Van Persie net the winner.

Derby drew against Bolton at while Blackburn beat Sunderland.

Manchester City recorded a convincing 3-1 victory over Newcastle and sit pretty in the third position in the League table.

The match of the day was at Fratton Park where the spectators were treated to an avalanche of goals! Portsmouth eventually ran out 7-4 winners against Reading. But Reading had their chances and even missed a penalty! Will definitely try and get the video highlights of that game.

EPL Weekend #8:

Saturday:

Man City vs Newcastle:
The weekend starts of with clash between two teams which have started the season off pretty well. Manchester City lie in third place while Newcastle currently occupy the fifth position in the league table. Sure to be a tactical battle between two new managers Eriksson and Allardyce. Should be a close match and I reckon should end in a draw.
Prediction: 1-1

Chelsea vs Fulham:
New manager Avram Grant has pledged some attacking-football and he definitely needs a win as Chelsea take on Fulham in Grant’s first managerial game at Stamford Bridge. Drogba should be back from his injury, though Lampard might still be out.
Prediction: 1-0

Derby vs Bolton:
It’s a bottom of the table clash as Derby take on Bolton. Sammy Lee needs to start registering some wins before the board loses its patience. An away game at Pride Park is a place where you would expect a team playing in Europe to pick up 3 points.
Prediction: 1-3

Portsmouth vs Reading:
A victory for Portsmouth could see them finish Saturday in the Top 5. Should be a scrappy match ending with a share of the points.
Prediction: 1-1

Sunderland vs Blackburn:
Blackburn would be looking at bouncing back after seeing the undefeated streak end against Portsmouth last weekend. Meanwhile Roy Keane would look at this game as a chance to win 3 vital points.
Prediction: 0-1

West Ham vs Arsenal:
This London derby is definitely the match to watch this weekend. Sure to be a fierce battle! Expect the goals to flow along with some high flying tackles.
Prediction: 2-2

Wigan vs Liverpool:
Liverpool would be looking at ending their spree of draws in the League and after a comprehensive win mid-week in the Carling Cup against Reading which also saw Torres score a Hat-Trick.
Prediction: 0-2

Birmingham vs Manchester Utd:
After taking points off Liverpool last weekend, Steve Bruce’s men would be aiming to do the same against the Champions Man Utd. Of course it won’t be easy and they could even face a backlash as United crashed out of the Carling Cup mid-week.
Prediction: 0-1

Sunday:

Everton vs Middlesbrough:
Middlesbrough dropped points at home against Sunderland last week while Everton lost to Aston Villa. Both teams lie mid-table and would want to improve on that. Everton should be able to pip this game by a goal.
Prediction: 1-0

Monday:

Tottenham vs Aston Villa:
Martin Jol would be desperate for a victory against Aston Villa. Justifying 18th position after some extremely heavy spending this year cannot be easy for long. A victory for Bolton against Derby would see the Spurs going into the match in the 19th position! Villa meanwhile will look at getting at least a point out of the game.
Prediction: 2-0

EPL Weekend 7 - Results and Review

Apologies for the massive delay once again. But the Indian Cricket Team actually managed to win the Twenty20 Cricket World Cup – so the other site kept me really busy.

Well am back here and following this post would be some posts about Live Scores of Italian Serie A, German Bundesliga, Spanish Premiera Liga and the English Coca-Cola Championship – which would all now be available here.

Well let us look at last weeks results. I got quite a few predictions correct. Arsenal continued their goal-scoring march, Liverpool managed to grab yet another draw and unfortunately Chelsea’s post-Mourinho era got off to a miserable start.

Results - EPL Weekend #7:

Arsenal 5-0 Derby:
(Prediction was: 3-0)
Arsenal continued their charge at the top of the table and continue slotting in lots of goals as they totally ripped Derby County apart. Adebayor scored as Hat-trick as Wegner’s men lie comfortably on top of the league with a game in hand!

Liverpool 0-0 Birmingham:
(Prediction was: 1-1)
As predicted, Liverpool continued their drawing ways and they couldn’t get past a pretty tight Birmingham mid-field and defense. Benitez would be hoping at ending this drawing spree with a victory against Wigan next weekend.

Middlesbrough 2-2 Sunderland:
(Prediction was: 2-1)
Sunderland grabbed a late equalizer and with it a vital point. They had earlier grabbed an early lead only to allow Middlesbrough to comeback and score two goals.

Reading 2-1 Wigan Athletic:
(Prediction was: 1-0)
Reading managed to secure a win and move out of the relegation zone for the time being. This season’s relegation battle is going to be really tight and something I’m sure all of you are looking forward to it.

Fulham 3-3 Manchester City:
(Prediction was: 0-0)
Definitely the most entertaining game of the weekend.

Newcastle 3-1 West Ham:
(Prediction was: 1-1)
A strong showing by Sam Allardyce’s boys catapulted them above Chelsea and West Ham in the League Table to the 5th position. N’Zogbia was the star after setting up two goals and scoring the third himself.

Aston Villa 2-0 Everton:
(Prediction was: 0-0)
Villa continued with their strong showing in home matches with a solid performance against Everton. Victory saw them leapfrog Everton in the League standings. Both teams are now tied on 10 points with Villa commanding the better goal difference.

Blackburn 0-1 Portsmouth:
(Prediction was: 1-0)
Blackburn’s undefeated Premiership run finally came to an end as Portsmouth managed to register a rare away win at Ewood Park. This culminated a miserable week for the Rovers who had also managed to lose in their UEFA Cup tie.

Bolton 1-1 Tottenham:
(Prediction was: 2-2)
A draw would not be the best result for either of the teams but it was the fair one. Both teams continue to lie in the bottom 3 of the league and it’s just a matter of time before Jol or Lee manage to get the sack!

Manchester United 2-0 Chelsea:
(Prediction was: 1-1)
A disastrous start to the post-Mourinho era for Chelsea as they continued their Premiership slump. Tevez headed in his first goal for United in the Premier League and Saha added another from the penalty spot late on.

EPL Weekend #7:

Saturday:

Arsenal vs Derby:
Arsenal are in great form and though Derby recorded the first win of their season last weekend things are definitely not going to be easy for them at the Emirates Stadium.
Prediction: 3-0

Liverpool vs Birmingham:
Liverpool managed just a draw away at Porto in the Champions League mid-week and they were also held by Portsmouth last week. I expect their drawing spree to continue and think Steve Bruce’s men should be able to take some points off them this weekend.
Prediction: 1-1

Middlesbrough vs Sunderland:
Sunderland manager will look at this fixture and definitely think they can get something out of it and an away win today might catapult them in to the top half of the table. Same holds true for Middlesbrough as they are tied on the same points with the Black Cats.
Prediction: 2-1

Reading vs Wigan Athletic:
Reading would be desperate for a win and would want to get out of the relegation zone. Wigan are surprisingly in the Top Half of the table after a pretty decent start to the season. I expect Steve Coppell’s men to pull off a home victory.
Prediction: 1-0

Fulham vs Manchester City:
Fulham will be looking to record only their second win of the season. They’ve been pretty unlucky so far but Sven’s men would be looking at retaining their position near the top of the table. Scoreless draw on the cards.
Prediction: 0-0

Sunday:

Newcastle vs West Ham:
This ones sure to be a thriller. West Ham are in good form and Newcastle would be looking at making amends for the 3 dropped points against Derby on Monday. Almost half the players at West Ham have played for Newcastle at some points of their career and all of them would be looking at making a statement via this game.
Prediction: 1-1

Aston Villa vs Everton:
This ones going to be a real good game. Mid-field battle is going to win the game, but they might cancel each other out and this game too looks to be headed for a draw.
Prediction: 0-0

Blackburn vs Portsmouth:
After losing mid-week in the UEFA Cup, Blackburn would be looking at stretching their unbeaten run in the Premiership. They did very well to take points off Chelsea last weekend and would be looking at a victory against a pretty strong Portsmouth squad, which took points off Liverpool last weekend.

Bolton vs Tottenham:
Two teams which played in the UEFA Cup in the mid-week are languishing near the bottom of the table in the Premiership. Spurs lie in the 17th position and Bolton lie rock-bottom 20th. Both teams would be desperate for a win. High scoring match on the cards.
Prediction: 2-2

Manchester United vs Chelsea:
Alex Ferguson vs Jose Mourinho has always been an exciting battle. Animated and heated discussion, war of words, tactical battle both off and on the pitch. I’m sure even Ferguson would miss Mourinho. The exit of the Special One overshadows the enormity of this clash.
Prediction: 1-1

As a Chelsea fan, things haven't been too good last couple of weeks. A miserable dip in form along with the sudden exit of Jose Mourinho has literally given all us fans the blues.

Plus many of you must have noted that I wrote out Season Previews for all the teams except for the Big 4 - thats primarily because I feel the best preview for such big teams can only be written a few weeks into a long hard season. EPL Weekend 6 - Fixtures and Predictions

EPL Weekend #6:

Saturday:

Everton vs Manchester United:
Everton are joint top currently and I fancy them to hold Manchester United at home. Last season they let a 2 goal lead slip away against Man U which eventually turned out be ‘the’ crucial game which ensured United’s title success.
Prediction: 1-1

Portsmouth vs Liverpool:
Portsmouth should be able to pull off an upset victory against Liverpool.
Prediction: 1-0

Tottenham vs Arsenal:
This is one London derby which is never short of excitement, sure to be a hard fought exciting battle with a draw as the final result.
Prediction: 2-2

Birmingham vs Bolton:
Steve Bruce’s men should be able to record a victory against Sammy Lee’s Bolton.
Prediction: 1-0

Sunderland vs Reading:
Both the teams are currently threatened in the relegation zone – but it is too early in the season to worry about it. I expect the points to be split.
Prediction: 1-1

West Ham vs Middlesbrough:
West Ham should be able to record a victory at home against a resurgent Middlesbrough squad. A lot of their players are coming back the fitness and it is definitely a good sign for manager Alan Curbishley.
Prediction: 2-1

Wigan vs Fulham:
Wigan should be able to grind out a narrow win at the JJB Stadium. Perhaps a penalty or a set-piece would decide this tie.
Prediction: 1-0

Chelsea vs Blackburn:
After losing to Aston Villa last time around, the pressure will definitely be on Mourinho’s men to ensure they don’t lose any points at home. This ones going to be a tough battle for sure.
Prediction: 2-1

This one should end in a tame nil-nil draw.
Prediction: 0-0

Monday:

Derby vs Newcastle United:
Derby would be desperate for a good showing but it might not be enough. Michael Owen is in great form and things are looking good for Sam Allardyce.

Arsenal:

Wenger to sign new deal. Confirmation by the end of today.

Cesc Fabregas has refuted reports that he's already agreed to join Real Madrid next summer.

Lehmann insists he’s still the No. 1 Goal-keeper at Arsenal after a pretty horrendous start to the season.

Aston Villa:
O’Neill expects Petrov to retain form soon. Also says Barry won’t let England down if he plays this weekend against Israel.

Birmingham City:
Birmingham City might be signing Mohammed Kallon soon. Kallon is currently a free agent. He’s played for Inter Milan and Monaco in the past.

Blackburn Rovers:
Blackburn chairman John Williams predicts wages will soar this year to reflect the record spending on transfers. A report by Deloitte shows transfer spending by English clubs this summer has exceeded £500million, smashing the previous summer's £300million.

Bolton Wanderers:
Bolton striker Heidar Helguson is set to be sidelined for up to seven weeks after undergoing ankle surgery.

Chelsea:
Chelsea say they left Michael Ballack out of their Champions League squad only because of injury.

Derby County:

Everton:
Everton's Joleon Lescott's has received an England call-up. The 25-year-old has put in some sterling performances for Everton off late and Moyes feels that the England recall is"just reward" for the defender.

Fulham:

New Fulham midfielder Danny Murphy is excited by the prospect of playing regularly again. After hardly getting to play much at Tottenham he's relishing the prospect of playing every game possible for Fulham.

Meanwhile highly rated Fulham mid-fielder Jimmy Bullard is targetting an October comeback.

Liverpool:
Torres injury blow worries Rafa Benitez. I’m sure Steven Gerrard’s been giving him a couple of sleepless nights too.

Manchester City:
Micah Richards says playing regular first-team football is the reason he's staying at Manchester City after he was linked with many big team moves.

Manchester United:
Franz Beckenbauer says Michael Ballack should have joined Manchester United and not Chelsea. Ballack could have filled a void both at Man United and Real Madrid. He’s being wasted at Chelsea – because Frank Lampard plays a similar role there.

Middlesbrough:
Julio Arca is relishing the chance to bring a little South American magic to Middlesbrough's midfield. While manager Gareth Southgate is starting to sleep better after safely negotiating his first year as a manager.

Newcastle United:
Alan Shearer has backed Sam Allardyce to drag Newcastle back into Europe in his first season.

Portsmouth:
Harry Redknapp has tipped Glen Johnson to force his way into the England squad. Meanwhile it has been revealed that Portsmouth will receive only half of Gary O'Neil's £5million fee up front from Middlesbrough.

Reading:
Left-back Nicky Shorey is non committal about his future at Reading and hasn’t ruled out leaving the club in January. Meanwhile Brynjar Gunnarsson has signed a new contract which will keep him with the Royals until 2009.

Sunderland:
Andy Cole staked his claim for a place in Sunderland's starting line-up by playing for the reserves.

Tottenham Hotspur:
Martin Jol believes the international schedule means it will take Tottenham longer to peak this season.

West Ham United:
West Ham are hopeful Kieron Dyer will return from his broken leg earlier than expected.

Wigan Athletic:
The FA have charged Wigan over the conduct of their players at Newcastle last week.

A weekend of late goals saw Chelsea lose their first game of the season and it gets real close at the top of the Premiership Table.

Results - EPL Weekend # 5:

Saturday:

Bolton 1-2 Everton:
(Prediction was: 1-1)
There was late heartbreak for Wanderers as Joleon Lescott headed home from a corner. Earlier in the match, Yakubu scored on his Everton debut and Bolton leveled via in-form Nicolas Anelka. Victory took Everton joint top of the Premiership table.

Fulham 3-3 Tottenham:
(Prediction was: 0-1)
Tottenham let slip 2-0 and 3-1 leads as Fulham fought back superbly to claim a 3-3 draw at Craven Cottage. Younes Kaboul, Berbatov and Gareth Bale scored for Spurs while Clint Dempsey netted the first for Fulham before Alexey Smertin reduced the deficit to 2-3 in the 77th minute. A 90th minute extra-ordinary looping overhead kick by Diomansy Kamara earned Lawrie Sanchez's side a point. Pressure is really on Martin Jol now.

Liverpool 6-0 Derby:
(Prediction was: 2-0)
Liverpool marched to the top of the Premiership table for the first time in five years after a 6-0 annihilation of Derby at Anfield. Alonso (2), Babel, Torres (2) and Voronin scored for Rafael Benitez's side.

Middlesbrough 2-0 Birmingham:
(Prediction was: 2-1)
Gareth Southgate would finally be pleased at the way things are turning out for Boro. They notched up a deserving 2-0 victory over Birmingham. David Wheater’s powerful header in the 12th minute gave Middlesbrough the lead before Stuart Downing lashed in from close range to add the second and pretty much wrap things up.

Newcastle vs Wigan Athletic:
(Prediction was: 2-0)
Michael Owen had 2 goals disallowed before netting in a late winner in the 87th minute of the game. This was his first goal in the league for the Magpies since a hat-trick away to West Ham in December 2005.

Reading 0-3 West Ham:
(Prediction was: 2-2)
This result was perhaps the surprise of the weekend. The corresponding fixture last year had resulted in a 6-0 hammering for West Ham and they pretty much turned the tables this time around. Bellamy opened the scoring and Etherington added two classy goals as Reading continue their mixed start to the season.

Man United 1-0 Sunderland:
(Prediction was: 3-1)
Sunderland goalkeeper Gordon was brilliant once again and almost kept Man United at bay before Louis Saha ruined Roy Keane’s Old Trafford return with a goal which saved United the blushes. This was Saha’s first appearance since the Champions League defeat to AC Milan in May.

Sunday:

Arsenal 3-1 Portsmouth:
(Prediction was: 2-1)
Arsenal ran out easy winners against Portsmouth with Adebayor, Fabregas and Rosicky scoring to propel the Gunners to second position in the League. Kanu netted one for Portsmouth. The only blemish as far as Arsene Wenger would be concerned was the 50th minute sending-off, of Philippe Senderos.

Blackburn 1-0 Man City:
(Prediction was: 1-1)
Blackburn continued their promising start to the season with a victory over much fancied Man City. Benny McCarthy scored his first goal of the season as Mark Hughes’ men recorded a 1-0 win. Blackburn are now unbeaten in 14 matches stretching back to last season.

Aston Villa 2-0 Chelsea:
(Prediction was: 0-0)
One could feel it coming as Villa ended Chelsea’s 7-month unbeaten streak. I’d predicted that Martin O’Neill’s men were going to give Chelsea a hard time and they sure did. Villa Park has been a bogey ground for the Blues who have not triumphed there in eight seasons. New signing Zat Knight scored on his debut and Gabriel Agbonlahor wrapped things up.

Transfer News: Last day of the Transfer Window

Yesterday was the last day of the transfer window and here are the transfers which took place:

Arsenal have signed France international midfielder Lassana Diarra from Chelsea on a "long-term contract" for an undisclosed fee rumoured to be around ₤4 Million. The 22-year-old had found first-team opportunities limited at Stamford Bridge, but I fail to see how he expects to find a regular place for himself in the Arsenal squad which is teeming with young mid-fielders.

Middlesbrough completed the signing of Gary O’Neil from Portsmouth less than an hour before the transfer deadline. The two clubs agreed a £5million fee. Middlesbrough have also completed the signing of Mohamed Shawky and allowed Jason Euell to join Southampton.

Portsmouth saw the return of Glen Johnson from Chelsea and this time on a permanent four-year deal. Johnson had spent last year on loan at Portsmouth and returned to Chelsea this season, but just 3 games into the season were enough to convince Mourinho that Johnson wasn’t the Right Back he was looking to have in his squad.

Peruvian Nolberto Solano was snapped up by West Ham United from Newcastle. With this almost the entire West Ham mid-field has an ex-Newcastle look (Parker, Dyer, Bowyer, Solano) to it…though most of them have brought their injury woes with them to Upton Park.

West Ham also confirmed they have signed Henri Camara from Wigan on a season-long loan. While Wigan manager Chris Hutchings made his ninth signing of the summer with striker Marcus Bent moving to the JJB Stadium on a season-long loan from Charlton.

Meanwhile Newcastle themselves beat the deadline to complete the signings of Habib Beye from Marseille and Abdoulaye Faye from Bolton.

Danny Murphy has joined Fulham on a one-year loan deal from Tottenham. Murphy had joined Charlton in 2004 after leaving Liverpool and was signed by Tottenham last season where he scored 2 goals in 22 games. Lack of first team options has lead to him being loaned to Fulham.

Murphy’s arrival sees the departure of Senegal midfielder Papa Bouba Diop from Craven Cottage. Diop has joined Portsmouth from Fulham and signed a 3 year contract. Another deal between the same clubs saw Dejan Stefanovic join Fulham on a two-year deal for £1million, subject to a work permit.

Fulham also signed Seol Ki-Hyeon from Reading in a swap deal which saw talented defender Liam Rosenior move to Reading.

Aston Villa seem to have captured Curtis Davis from West Brom is a deal worth an initial £8.5million, rising to to a potential £10million with add-ons. Villa also captured Togo midfielder Moustapha Salifou for an undisclosed fee from Swiss outfit FC Wil on a one-year contract.

Derby manager Billy Davies has ended his search for a strike after completing the deadline-day signing of Scotland striker Kenny Miller for an undisclosed fee from Celtic.

Birmingham confirmed the transfer of Borja Oubina on a season-long loan from Celta Vigo with "minutes to spare" on the last day of the Transfer Window. They also signed midfielder Wilson Palacios on loan from Honduran club Olimpia.
