FEAPU Exam

The Educational Committee has put great efforts for many years to set up, improve, and maintain a consistent database of MCQs. From 2012, the FEAPU certification exam will also include an oral examination, based on clinical scenarios created and validated by the Committee.

Annual courses

As part of its mission to promote education and training in pediatric urology throughout Europe, the ESPU Educational Committee organises annual courses since 2003.
The program provides full up-to-date overview of pediatric urology in a 2-day course, with lectures and clinical-case sessions given by European experts in the field.
In some occasions, annual courses may have been organised as a joint event with a workshop on a specific subject.

The Committee

The Educational committee of the ESPU aims to promote education and training activities throughout Europe. To this effect it has been very successful and its record speaks for itself. Since 2003, annual courses have been held in different countries within the EU.

The committee in partnership with JCPU has worked very well in creating a sound examination and accreditation process. The committee has worked incredibly hard to create a database of MCQs and clinical scenarios. The web book is another exciting project of the committee. ESPUN Zurich Conference 2012 Evaluation Results

73 delegates attended the European Society for Paediatric Urology Nurses meeting in Zurich.

Of those who attended 48 completed the conference evaluation forms.

This equates to a response rate of 66%.

Presentations were scored on scale of 1-5 with 1 being excellent, 2 good, 3 average, 4 not so good and 5 poor.

Specialist Trainee in Paediatric Urology - Leeds, UK

This is one of a number of posts which were established nationally to provide subspecialty training in Paediatric Urology.

It is envisaged that specialist training offered by this post would be best suited to an applicant who will have already completed a minimum of three (ideally four) years of accredited specialist training in Paediatric Surgery. It is anticipated that the post will be for two years duration.

• Two year fellowship program certified by program director.
• FEAPU certification if successful at the MCQ exams held during annual congress

Upcoming changes (2012 onwards)
• Clinical component being added from 2012/13
• Clinical scenario based held at the time of the annual congress
• Two tables for each candidates with two examiners and one observer
Schedule
• 2011 last year for MCQ alone for certification
• 2012 MCQ exam will be held but
• 2013 Successful candidates will have to sit the clinical component to be certified

Definition of the subspecialty

Paediatric Urology is the subspecialty of both Urology and Paediatric Surgery concerned with clinical recognition, prevention, treatment (surgical and non-surgical) and the rehabilitation of congenital and acquired diseases, malformations and functional problems of the genitourinary system in children and adolescents. It also encompasses the promotion of good genitourinary system health in children.

General aspects of Training in Paediatric Urology

Paediatric Urology Training is a subspecialty training which is done at Fellowship level for Urologists or paediatric surgeons. The Multidisciplinary Joint Committee of Paediatric Urology(JCPU) will be the monitoring authority for recognition of quality, accreditation and certification. The

General aspects of a training programme

The programme that can train paediatric urology fellows will be accredited by the Joint Committee of Peadiatric Urology (JCPU).

The training programme must be within the countries where the UEMS regulations applies.

Paediatric Urology Training programmes must apply directly to the Joint Committee on Paediatric Urology (JCPU) for certification. Applications should include detailed information concerning the institution(s), medical and academic facilities and the training programme including a written training programme for the whole fellowship period of 2 years and faculty. An application fee of 100,-- Euros has to be paid at the moment of application, additional 250,-- Euros
