Disaster Management and Resiliency in the Asia Pacific Journalism Fellowship

The Disaster Management and Resiliency in the Asia Pacific Journalism Fellowships program is co-sponsored by the Center for Global Partnership, All-China Journalists Association and the Japan Foreign Press Center/Tokyo. This 14-day professional dialogue, study and travel program is designed for working print, broadcast and online journalists from the United States, Japan, China and those Asian and Oceanic countries bordering the tectonic Pacific Plate.

Infusing Chinese and Japanese Religion, Art and Literature into the Undergraduate Curriculum

This multidisciplinary, three-week Institute fosters faculty and program development aimed at enhancing undergraduate teaching and learning about Asian cultures and societies. Hosted annually through a generous grant from the Freeman Foundation, the institute on Infusing Asian Studies into the Undergraduate Curriculum offers undergraduate educators the opportunity to interact with leading Asian studies experts in an intensive program of lectures, discussions, film screenings, site visits and cultural events.

2013 Asian Studies Development Program, US-China Field Seminar

The 2013 Field Study will focus on China’s historical encounters with its Western neighbors in Eurasia through Silk Roads trade and diplomacy, and with Europe and the Americas during the modern era. The seminar will begin in Beijing, with lectures at Peking University and visits to key political, commercial and cultural sites with an emphasis on China’s 21^st century global aspirations.

POSCO Visiting Fellowship Program

The POSCO Visiting Fellowship Program, endowed by POSCO, is intended to promote research activities on Korean topics at the East-West Center. The Program invites outstanding scholars and policy makers to engage in policy-relevant, contemporary research on political, security, and economic issues in Northeast Asia, as they relate to Korea.

Pacific Islands Leadership Program with Taiwan

A new initiative that combines the enhancement of individual leadership skills and development of regional expertise and people-to-people network in the Asia Pacific region.

Type of study: A three-month course of study from late August to late November, with the first two months in Honolulu, Hawaii, and the third month in Taipei, Taiwan; includes seminars and field visits.

United States–South Pacific Scholarship Program

The United States–South Pacific Scholarship Program, authorized by the U.S. Congress and funded by the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs of the U.S. Department of State, is a competitive, merit-based scholarship program that provides opportunities for degree study at U.S. institutions of higher education. The scholarship program will include a summer internship in Washington, D.C. as well as a four- to five-week community service project in the student’s home country.

East-West Center Visiting Fellowships program enables scholars to undertake research and publication during the academic year in collaboration with EWC staff on an indepedent research project related to selected research themes or one of the four Research Program Study areas (Politics, Governance and Security; Economics; Population and Health; and Environmental Change, Vulnerability and Governance).
