Last week, Winnie hosted the AIM walleye championship, a professional catch and release tournament.  The tournament was a huge success.  They had 54 professionals fishing for 3 days.  Each day, an amateur co-angler fished with each pro.  Everyone had a great time.  There were lots of walleyes caught, and every single one went right back into the lake!  We are hoping to host the tournament again next year.  Visit www.aimfishing.com for more tournament details.  Bryan

This week we held our first digital photography clinic from Sunday to Tuesday.  We had John Piepkorn, from Edge Advertising in the Twin Cities, come up and lead daily seminars on digital cameras and what you can do with them, photo composition,  working with your photos on the computer, and sharing your photos online.   Everyone who participated had time after the seminars to practice what they learned.  There was lots of time for questions and group discussion.  John has a great knowledge of all types of digital cameras and has won several awards for his photographs.   And he’s a great guy with an easy teaching style so no one is intimidated.  Whether it’s photos of your kids or beautiful scenery, you can take better photographs.  Stay tuned for future photography clinics.  Bryan

We hosted our first ever wakeboard camp from Thursday to Sunday, which brought 15 young campers plus the staff of 10,000 Wakes to ENL for a 3 day overnight camp.  The kids were kept very busy on the water with lots of riding time.  They had instruction from excellent camp staff and 6 time world champion Darin Shapiro.  It was exciting to see the improvement in all the kids over the weekend!  Gunnar and Anneka had a blast participating.  Everyone enjoyed it so much, we plan to do it again next summer.  Stay tuned for details or check out www.10000wakes.com  for more on the camp operation.

After a blustery Thursday, the sun came out for today’s waterslide.  Even participants of the 10,000 Wakes wakeboard camp here at Eagle Nest went down a few times.  But the highlight of the day was definitely when our current record of ten people on a tube was broken.  The 11 adults and kids slowly piled up and finally made it down the hill. . . after a very large push!  Congrats to the record breakers and good luck to anyone who tries for twelve!

Although Mother Nature isn’t exactly cooperating with the summer months, the fun isn’t stopping at Eagle Nest Lodge! This morning was a great time to make paper in the game room. Using some old, colored paper we were able to make new, multi-colored sheets of paper to help guests remember their visit. Creativity was in full bloom yesterday  when guests were able to make t-shirts using spray dye and masking tape. As we continue to hope for warmer weather, we have many fun-filled activities still planned for our guests!!

After a tough, cold spring, we finally received summer!  The lake is perfect…the weather is warm…the fish are still biting…the families are having a great time.  A frequent guest told me today that “whoever isn’t here right now is really missing out!”  I couldn’t agree with him more.  We still have several openings for this summer.  Come and visit and quit missing out!

Well, it finally feels like summer today!!!  It is 81 degrees outside but a little windy!!!  I finally am wearing my shorts and I hope the weather stays like this but maybe a little less wind!  The walleye fishing has been Great!  They are catching alot just off the dock!!!  Well, keep looking for our blogs and we will keep you updated!

We opened last week and everyone is catching really big fish!!!  The wind is blowing and the rain is falling, it is pooring!!!  There is a thunderstorm heading our way, but right now it doesn’t look like there will be one.  It is just rain… well, all these showers have made our grass long and green!!!  Hope to see you this summer!    *Anneka*

Well, you can tell opener is soon!  The campers are lined up on the side of the highway waiting to get their spot at the campgrounds which open tomorrow, May 1, May day!  Gunnar and my dad started putting the docks in today and we are very excited!  The weather today was nice, it was in the 50’s all day, and sunny from10:00 to 11:30 and the rest of the day it was cloudy and still is.  There is some wind and tomorrow it is supposed to be a little cooler, same with Friday,but Sunday and Monday it’s supposed to be warmer like in the mid 60 s!!!!  We are very happy the weather is better than last year so we have a head-start!  Can’t wait to see you all!!!  ~Anneka~ 

The ice officially went out of Cut Foot Sioux lake!!!!  It went out on April 27, on Monday!!!  The winner of the ice-out contest is Mark Geihl!!!!!  My dad is going to start putting the docks in this week!!!!!  We are very excited!!!!!!!!!!  Yesterday it was 70 degrees!  We have been outside alot!  Hope to see you all this summer!!!!! ~Anneka~
