How To Remove Malware

Malware, short for "malicious software," can be annoyingly stubborn and may be difficult to remove from your computer. In some cases, the malware has clobbered the anti-virus program to render it useless.

Here is an outline of what can be done if your Windows-based computer is infected with malware.

Stage 01:

Disable "System Restore" in Windows.
Download a free trial version of Malwarebytes Anti-Malware.
Download a free trial version of ESET NOD32 Anti-Virus.
Restart computer.
Boot into Safe Mode.

Stage 02:

Install Malwarebytes Anti-Malware.
Perform a Quick Scan using Malwarebytes Anti-Malware.
Remove found malware, if any.
Restart computer in normal mode.

Stage 03:

Install ESET NOD32 Anti-Virus.
Perform a Full Scan using ESET NOD32 Anti-Virus.
Remove malware, if any.
Restart computer in normal mode.
Enable "System Restore" in Windows.

For those who are using anti-virus software bundled with a purchased computer or provided by an Internet Service Provider (ISP), you may run Malwarebytes Anti-Malware in manual mode with your installed anti-virus product to gain more protection from malware.
