Mrs Jimoh Mulikat Adebukola and her six-year-old twins were caught at Lagos Airport carrying 4.050 kg of substance confirmed as cocaine. She concealed 3.350kg in almost every part of her body, including on her breast and underwear.

She also used her innocent six years old twins to carry about 700 grammes of the illicit drugs. Spokesman of the NDLEA, Mitchell Ofoyeju, quoted Mrs Jimoh as saying:

“I have problem of my children’s school fees. I have six children and I intend to give them good education. I also have younger ones and aged parents to take care of. They asked me to swallow the drugs, but I was afraid, that is why I packed them in my body.”

Now that she is going to prison, how will she pay the school fees? People really need to be wise!

Factional NGF led by Governor Jang chairs NGF meeting with 16 governors in attendance

Plateau state governor, Jonah Jang today chaired a meeting of the factionalized Nigeria's Governors' Forum with only sixteen state governors in attendance.
Governor Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers State and his supporters obviously boycotted.

They are:

Akpabio-Cross river, Jang-Plateau, Idris Wada of Kogi, Gabriel Suswam -Benue, Sullivan Chime- Enugu, Martin Elechi - Ebonyi, Theodore Orji -Abia, Peter Obi -Anambra and Isa Yuguda- Bauchi.

Others are: Olusegun Mimiko of Ondo, Ibrahim Shema of Katsina, Mukhtar Yero of Kaduna, Garba Umar of Taraba, Ahmed Abdulfatah of Kwara, Emmanuel Uduaghan of Delta, Liyel Imoke of Cross River, Seriake Dickson of Bayelsa and Gombe Deputy Governor, Thaanod Rubainu.

The governors, who met behind closed doors for about two hours, later issued a communique, saying they stood by the endorsement of 19 governors, who had earlier pledged their support for the candidature of a consensus candidate (Jang) and not Amaechi.

Mimiko, who described himself as the Vice Chairman of the Jang-led NGF, read the six-paragraph communique issued and jointly endorsed by the faction.

House of Representatives Speaker Aminu Tambuwal yesterday said a “formidable team” would take Nigeria “to the highest level” in 2015.
He, however, did not elaborate on who would make up the team, and declined comments on his rumoured Presidential ambition. He said he was more concerned about stabilising the House.
He addressed reporters in Lagos after delivering the Quarterly Business Lecture of the Island Club. He spoke on the topic: The Legislature and the growth of our democracy.
During a question-and-answer session after his lecture, Tambuwal said: “The future is very bright for Nigeria and it will witness a very great and important development come 2015, to usher in a formidable team that will take Nigeria to the highest level.”Asked whether he would run for the presidency, Tambuwal said: “I’m hearing about Presidential ambition from you for the first time. Let’s talk about something else. What I want to do for now is to stabilise the House of Representatives and ensure that we complete our tenure the way we have started. By the grace of God, we shall be remembered positively.”
On the leadership crises in his party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the Speaker said disagreements are part of democracy, and that his membership was not under threat.
“I am a member of the PDP and my membership is not threatened. The crisis in PDP is part of democracy. It’s part of democratic evolution. When you have a big family like that, you are bound to have some disagreements, even between husband and wife and among family members you have arguments. And we’re addressing them gradually,” he said.
On the latest bloody return of the Boko Haram sect, with the killing on Monday of seven students and two teachers in Damaturu, Yobe State despite the State of Emergency, Tambuwal said the security agencies deserve praise for their efforts so far despite the security challenges.
“I think the security agencies are doing their best, and I think we’re getting some positive results from the efforts they are making so far. We should continue to encourage them,” he said.
In his lecture, Tambuwal said credit must go to each member of the House for whatever modest successes the he has recorded.
“Everything we have achieved, therefore, we have achieved because members were often determined to place their country above every parochial interest. Even my emergence as Speaker has been due largely to this desire to elevate the collective interest above everything else,” he said.
Tambuwal said there is no democracy without legislature, adding: “Although we all talk about the three arms of government being separate and equal, the truth is that the legislature is the first among equals of these three arms of the democratic composition.”

The National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP), Olisa Metuh has said that there is no crisis in Nigeria’s ruling party.

Speaking as a guest on Channels Television’s programme, Politics Today, Mr Metuh said what the party is currently facing is a challenge that every organisation go through.

It would be recalled that the PDP last month suspended the Sokoto State governor, Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko for alleged anti-party activity, while his Rivers counterpart Chibuike Amaechi was also suspended for his insistence to contest the Nigeria governor’s forum chairmanship as against the wish of the party and the presidency.

This is not about Buhari’s presidential aspiration… this is about character assassination. I know Buhari is not perfect, but I don’t think he deserves all these invectives we are pouring on him. I see the new trend on Nigerian social media is Buhari bashing! I see people whose amniotic fluid is still dripping from their heads insulting someone who is old enough to be their grandfather, someone they know nothing about. The only thing they know about him is from hearsay. They have accused Buhari of virtually every known crime in the world, except perhaps been a rapist. I look at Nigerians and I am amazed at how forgetful they are, how well they twist facts, how adept they are at running people down. Buhari have been accused of a myriad of crimes which makes him ineligible for the post of the president. I will try my least to counter some of these fatuous accusations in the shortest and simplest form I can.
1. He was a “coupist”…
What is wrong with removing a government that was riddled with corruption, a governmentthat was rudderless, a government that was rigged into power, a government that extolled indiscipline… calling Shagari’s government a democratic government is simply a travesty … at best Shagari’s government was an “embezzlelocracy” not a democracy. Shagari’sgovernment deserved to be booted out and that was exactly what Buhari and Idiagbon did. By the way, the same Nigerians forget they are the ones who voted Obasanjo, David mark and Jonah jang into power. Yet these people are also former coupists.

(Buhari never even participated in the 1983 coup. He was brought in from Jos after the coup to be the Head of State because of his integrity. Go through Nigerian history and find out more).
2. He is a dictator….
Well, show me a revolutionary who was not a dictator…..Peop le who accuse Buhari of been a dictator know nothing about revolutions.. . Fidel Castro was accused of the same thing, Thomas sankara was accused of the same, and Jerry Rawlings was also accused. Revolution involves cleaning the Augean stable, and to do that, you don’t pander to people’s feelings, mollycoddle or pamper them. That comes after you have fixed theproblem. The biggest problem in Nigeria is indiscipline and corruption and this was the cancer Buhari sought to remove.
3. He is corrupt like the rest of the politicians….
Well show me his fat account, show me his private jet, show me his mansion in Abuja, in Dubai, New York. I mean as a former governor, minister, chairman of PTF and head of state, he could afford all these…. after all, even governors today are buying jets like taxis and buying up the whole of Dubai. Let’s even forget about the luxurious life of the former heads of state. Show me Buhari’s multimillion dollar share in fortune 500 companies….just show me where he is hiding all his ill-gotten wealth. We should candidly ask ourselves how many of us would hold all the positions and still manage to be as modest as Buhari.
4. He is a religious bigot…..
Oh oh oh!! Who amongst you reading this article is not a religious bigot? 95% of Nigerians are religious bigots. Unlike Nigerians, Buhari is not a pretender. He is true to his religion. If Buhari does with Islam what GEJ is doing with Christianity, Nigerians will stone him to death, Buhari has not done a third of what GEJ is doing with Christianity with his Islam. They say he is intolerant; will any intolerant and bigoted northern Muslim make a pastor his running mate? Show me a politician who chose a pastor of repute as a running mate other than Buhari. The same man they accuse of been an Islamist was the same man who put an end to the Maitatsine Islamic cult. The same person who rounded up members of the cult and put an end to the matter.
5. He supports Boko Haram…..
I am still yet to see the evidence that he supports boko haram. Calling for amnesty for Boko haram is not the same thing as supporting Boko haram. Even Mr President set up a committee on amnesty. So why the hoopla? Show me one proof linking Buhari to boko haram; just one. Meanwhile, let’s not forget that the same Mr President said he has members of boko haram in his government, directly implicating himself. All the top shots that have been implicated as sponsors of boko haram are all members of PDP, the party of Mr President.
6. On the Ombatse cult issue and double standard….
Buhari never condemned the cult or their religion; he clearly stated they had a right
to worship whatever they want. I don’t know what else people want him to say: Should he support the killing of members of Nigerian security forces? He simply condemned the killings, just like he did with the killings by boko haram.
7. He jailed easterners and westerners…..
Bollocks!! The same person who brazenly organized some Isrealis to capture and crate a northerner Umaru Dikko for onward journey to Nigeria for justice to take its course. Show me anything as remotely as determined and punitive as that. He deserves eternal kudos for this singular act.
(Unlike Mr. President that grants criminals pardon).
8. He is too old…
The answer to this is simple… a good wine gets better with age. Buhari won’t
be the oldest person to contest for elections. Age have nothing to do with good leadership. Nigerians have elected some young brats like Ibori, lucky Igbinedion, and the former speaker who ended as big rogues. Integrity has nothing to do with age. It is innate.

9. His role in civil war:
if we want to crucify Buhari for his roles in the civil war, we should start with the Gowons, the Awolowos, the Theophilus Danjumas, the Obasanjos, the Adekunles aka black scorpion etc..This argument does not hold water at all.
10. He is a tribal bigot…
well so is GEJ and the other politicians. Show me a Nigerian politician that does not whip up ethnic sentiments when he feels cornered.
(What are the Dokubos, Oritsejafors and Briggs doing and Mr. President looks on with no caution?)
11. He Threaten that hell will be let loose if election was rigged….
What is bad in that statement? Only those who have the intentions to rig election
will be gripped by fear when such statements are made, after all OBJ once said election was do or die and no one scolded him.
12. He contested and failed three times….
And so??? When did failure become a crime? He should be praised for his tenacity and belief in democracy. Some people would have sold out a long time ago, sided with the oppressors and made fortune, not so with Buhari.
13. He is a terrorist…
But no member of Boko haram has come out in the open to say Buhari
supports or sponsors them: On the other hand, Henry Okah openly accused the Mr president of terrorist acts and the allegation was swept under carpet.
14. He supported Abacha …..
What is wrong with that? Is he the only one that supported Abacha??? Many people supported Abacha too. I don’t see anyone crucifying them
15. He hates Igbos….
The same person who hates Igbos also gave Igbo the vice presidency slot twice??? I agree PDP people loves Igbos, but what I don’t know is what exactly PDP government has benefitted Ndi Igbo since the inception of this democracy.
16. His tenure in PTF didn’t benefit southerners…

Jerry Rawlings says President Jonathan Administration, is One of The Most Corrupt Administration In Africa

Former Ghanaian President, Jerry Rawlings has described the President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration as one of the most corrupt administration in africa, adding that his government has failed to punish politicians who steal public fund under his administration.
While the Nigeria leadership pay “Lip service” to corrupt officials looting billions, Mr. Rawlings said Monday, it directs its resources at persecuting anti-graft fighters and persecuting petty thieves.
Mr. Rawlings in a speech at the National Legislative Institute in Abuja on Monday, said, “Corrupt politicians (especially in Jonathan Administration) in Nigeria escape punishment. We cannot continue to pay lip service to the strengthening, empowerment and independent management of our multiple anti-corruption Institutions”

Mr. Rawlings added, “Nigeria has become a Country where poor, petty thieves get imprisoned for several years while businessmen who evade taxes in millions of dollars OR politicians who misappropriate
millions of state funds escape punishment,
(some are even granted a resounding STATE
PARDON).”

He said Africa lost at least $38.4 billion and $25 billion in 2008 and 2010 respectively to illicit financial outflows.
“These inequalities are recopies for retrogression of our democracies and we cannot allow the negative to continue. As I said earlier a democracy that cannot provide socio-economic justice cannot be a healthy democracy and will remain vulnerable,” he said.
Mr. Rawlings urged Africans to reject henceforth laws allowing the president to choose their countries’ Chief Justice, to ensure true independence of the judiciary.
“Our institutions are weak because we do not strengthen and protect them adequately in our constitutions,” he said. “While the legislature can enact laws that empower institutions, constitutional entrenchment of such provisions would ensure that political parties with majority control within legislative assemblies do not manipulate the power of these institutions.”
He advised that the appointment should go through a consultative process that the president will not manipulate.
“Nigeria has made giant strides over the past decade politically but still faces complicated challenges , which many of you will bear with me has socio-cultural implications that have been ignored for a significant period,” he said.

Why I Can’t Be Chairman Where Buhari Is Present – IBB

The maiden edition of Mr Sam Nda-Isaiah Lecture Series in Minna, Niger State, brought to the fore the atmosphere of friendship between former head of state, General Muhammadu Buhari, and former military president General Ibrahim Babangida as the latter conceded the chairmanship of the occasion to Buhari.

Babangida was reluctant to speak at the occasion as the chairman, but when pressed upon, got up and stated that he could not be chairman in an occasion where Buhari was present.

“I can’t be a chairman at this occasion when General Buhari is here, and this is for two reasons: one he was 5 and I was 6, and those of you in the military understand what I mean; in other words he is my senior. Secondly, he was the head of state before me, so it is my pleasure and honour to formally invite General Muhammadu Buhari to declare this conference open,” IBB said, conceding the chairmanship to Buhari.

Buhari who got up to accept the offer said in the same hilarious mood: “I think that who is a Maradona is always a Maradona; it is very clear to me that General Babangida is the chairman, but since I came in here, he said to me he wouldn’t be the chairman because I was his senior and in the military, things are considered in terms of seniority”.

He, however, added that Babangida, refused to hand over his prepared speech for the occasion.

Buhari congratulated the Mr Nda Isaiah, chairman of Chairman LEADERSHIP Group, for the honour done him by the youths, saying that he deserved it due to his courage and consistency.

NGF ELECTION: 19 Governors Boycott Cash Crisis Talks With President Jonathan

A crisis meeting called last night [Jun 17] by President Goodluck Jonathan over the stalling of last month’s revenue allocation was shunned by 19 governors. The meeting at House 7, State House, Abuja got underway at about 10pm, following the arrival of the President.

Governors in the Plateau State Governor Jonah Jang’s faction of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF), who had earlier met, were at the Villa meeting.

All the 19 pro- Rivers Governor Rotimi Amaechi were not at the meeting.

It was gathered that all the governors were in Abuja for the meeting and indeed wanted to attend until they reviewed their participation following some developments.

Presidential spokesman Reuben Abati said last night that at the end of the one-hour meeting, a committee of four governors was set up by the President to meet this morning with the Finance Minister, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala.

Members of the committee are: Anambra State Governor Peter Obi, Isa Yuguda (Bauchi), Emmanuel Uduaghan (Delta) and Ibrahim Dankwambo (Gombe). Jonathan, Abati said, felt there was no need to quarrel because the money belongs to all.

Only 16 governors attended yesterday’s meeting of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) called by the Jonah Jang faction.

Besides Jang, other governors at the meeting were: Olusegun Mimiko (Ondo); Theodore Orji (Abia); Martin Elechi (Ebonyi); Idris Wada (Kogi); Emmanuel Uduaghan (Delta); Ibrahim Shema (Katsina); and Godswill Akpabio (Akwa Ibom). Others were: Isa Yuguda (Bauchi); Seriake Dickson (Bayelsa); Sullivan Chime (Enugu); Peter Obi (Anambra); Ibrahim Dankwabo (Gombe); Umar Garba (Taraba); Liyel Imoke (Cross River) and Steve Lawani (Benue Dep. Governor).

Speaking briefly with newsmen after the meeting, Jang said he would not disclose discussions at the meeting, as according to him, the governors were still going to brief President Goodluck Jonathan later in the night.

On the accusation of impersonation levelled against him by Governor Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers State, Jang said: “Am I claiming to be governor of Rivers State?”

On why only 16 governors attended the meeting, the Plateau Governor said he needed only 12 governors to form a quorum and that 16 is far above the number.

President Jonathan Asks PDP Chairman, Bamanga Tukur, Other NWC Members To Resign

President Goodluck Jonathan may have directed the National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Dr. Bamanga Tukur, and other members of the PDP National Working Committee to resign.

It was learnt on Monday [Jun 17] that Jonathan gave the directive after the presidential committee on the PDP crises headed by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Chief Pius Anyim, submitted its report to him in Abuja .

The order and submission of the report which noted that the party was drifting coincided with the lifting of the suspension of Sokoto State Governor, Aliyu Wamakko, by the 12-member Tukur-led NWC.

A member of the presidential committee, who spoke PUNCH’s correspondent on condition of anonymity, added that Tukur and the other NWC members would tender their resignation letters at the party’s National Executive Committee meeting scheduled for Thursday in Abuja.

He said apart from the PDP internal crises, the President was concerned about the position of the Independent National Electoral Commission on the manner majority of the NWC members came to office.

INEC had queried the affirmation method that returned most of the NWC members to office.

It was also gathered that the NWC members were told that they risked being sacked if they failed to quit before Thursday.

A PDP source said, “If they fail to resign before Thursday, they will be sacked.” He added that the Presidency had already directed that a caretaker committee be set up in place of the NWC.

When contacted, a member of the NWC, who wondered how Jonathan’s directive was leaked, merely said it was true.

“How did the story leak? Yes, it is true. I am already packing my things from my office, “he said.

But another NWC member, who also admitted that they would cease to hold office before Friday, said, “We are not resigning because President Jonathan asked us to do so. If we resign, it will be because of the report by INEC. We will be resigning to protect the integrity of INEC.”

A national leader of the PDP confirmed the looming dissolution of the NWC, saying, “You remember INEC had said that it does not recognise the election of a majority of them (NWC members).

A member of the presidential committee which has governors Emmanuel Uduaghan (Delta); Goodwill Akpabio, (Akwa Ibom); Theodore Orji (Abia ); Isa Yuguda (Bauchi); Ibrahim Shema (Katsina); and Gabriel Suswam (Benue), as some of its members, had said the panel was not pleased with happenings in the PDP.

The Catholic church says it opposes artificial family planning techniques, because it encourages bastardisation of sexual activities by young people and “impedes normal procreation.”

The Secretary-General of the Catholic Secretariat of Nigeria, Rev. Fr. Ralph Madu, made this clarification in a response to an enquiry by PUNCH on Sunday.

He said:

The Catholic Church believes that modern means, including the use of condoms is morally bad because it impedes normal procreation. You can meet with your wife when you do not want children and those periods when the woman is not fertile instead of having to destroy the sperm and all other forms of artificial prevention.

They are very artificial means and they do not really give the moral lesson that borders around the use of the sexual organs.

The one that gives you the opportunity to exercise your sexual urge without the consequences is the natural method and the church says you should go for the natural means.

According to him, the excuse that it reduces the spread of HIV/AIDS remains invalid and untenable, adding HIV/AIDS is a disease that is prevalent among young people.

Madu added:

When you are talking about condom among young people, you are also talking about promiscuity. People have adduced arguments in case of people with HIV/AIDS and especially couples who do not want children. The use of condom and other modern means are being bastardised among young people because they will resort to the use of condom so that they can have sex freely without impregnating the woman or getting pregnant.

Those are various artificial means and the church is strongly against them. Instead, the church endorsed the natural method of copulation.

Bamanga Tukur says that resignation is the last thing on his mind

The PDP chairman, Bamanga Tukur says he’s not resigning, contrary to several media reports which claimed that he had been ordered to do so by the president following a report by the secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator Anyim Pius Anyim.

On Tuesday in Abuja, after a one-hour meeting with President Goodluck Jonathan, together with other members of the National Working Committee of the party, Tukur said there was no way he was going to resign.

“It is not true that I am resigning. Resign for what? It is not true at all. We are here to run the PDP and we have done so and we will continue to run the PDP.

“We are going to have our caucus tonight, we are going to have BOT tomorrow, we are going to have our NEC on Thursday.”

“The chairman is not only in office, he is in power. In PDP, there is no vacancy in the national chairmanship,” he said.

He said although there was indeed a report submitted by Anyim, it did not affect his office but that of eight members of the NWC who were not properly elected. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had observed that elections of most members of the NWC did not follow due process.

“The meeting is about regularising the family of PDP because there was INEC observation, some of the members of the NWC were not properly elected so it has to be regularized.”

“Those who have not been elected will resign and they will go back, they will have opportunity to regularise.”

“About eight people are affected. There are three people that are not affected, they the National Chairman, the National Financial Secretary, National Auditor and of course National Secretary which is vacant now.”

Lagos State Police Command has arrested a 28-year-old woman, Anita Ekechukwu, her brother, Sunday Ekechukwu; and three others -, Benedict Nwadike, Emmanuel Ochi, also known as General and George Emmanuel, aka Force Man - for armed robbery.

The suspects were arrested while robbing bureau de change operators of millions of naira. Narrating how the suspects operated, a source at the Special Anti-Robbery Squad said:

Anita Ekechukwu would pose as a customer and convince the bureau de change operator to enter a vehicle with her only to rob him.

“Anita would go to a bank and say she wanted to buy foreign currency knowing well that banks do not sell foreign currency to just anyone. The bankers would introduce her to a bureau de change operator and they would establish contact. Later, she will call them for a huge transaction in a vehicle.

“When the victim enters the vehicle, her colleagues would come in another vehicle, abduct the victim, rob him of his money at gunpoint and then throw him out of the vehicle.”

Anita, her brother and others were arrested while trying to rob one Sanusi of $80,000 (N12.8m).

The police source said the robbers operated around a bank in Lekki and had boarded their vehicle when policemen intercepted them.

He said, “They organised another operation. Already police were aware that the gang was about to operate around the area. The robbers had abducted their victim, when the police swooped on them and arrested them. The robbers then revealed the location of the others. The police recovered the money collected from the victim.”

While answering questions, Anita Ekechukwu said she took to robbery because of unemployment, adding that it was more honourable than prostitution. “I am a member of the gang but we do not operate with gun. I am from Owerri, in Imo State. I am unemployed but I live at Lekki with my elder brother, Sunday, who is a building contractor.

“I joined the gang because I could not secure any reasonable employment. I joined the gang this year and I was given the telephone number of a bureau de change operator. I told him I wanted to buy $30,000. The next day, he sent his brothers who brought the dollars. I then told the man that we were going to a bank where I would pay him the naira equivalent. On the way to the bank, we collected the money from the man and pushed him out of the vehicle.”

Another suspect, Ochi, who is about 24 years old, claimed he was a student of Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ogun State. He said his dream was to join the Nigeria Police but it was unclear if he would still be enlisted following his arrest.

He said, “My role in the gang is to push the victim out of our vehicle but I am always careful so that he will not fall and hit his head against a stone or hard object.

“I am a student of Olabisi Olabanjo University, Ogun State and I am in 300 level studying Crime Investigation. I intended to enlist in Nigeria Police Force when I graduate. I want to become a police detective.

On his hope of realising his life ambition to become police detective after graduation, now that he had been arrested he said, “It is God that will decide. If I regain my freedom I will stand a chance. Even if I am jailed, I may get state pardon. Everything depends on God.”

Trap Catches Wife On Their Matrimonial Bed With Another Man

A middle aged housewife in Jos, the Plateau State capital is in trouble after she was caught in her matrimonial bed with another man by her husband.

The woman simply identified as Gloria was caught with a neighbour, a father of three who lives some houses away from the couple when the husband returned unexpectedly at their Rukuba Road residence.

The husband (names withheld) who sells clothes at the Old Bukuru Park was said to have barely left home for his business when his wife invited her man-friend, identified simply as George to come around as she was sick.

According to a neighbour who was with her when she made the call and begged to be anonymous, Gloria told the man friend to buy a pack of Don-Simon and a plate of pepper soup when coming.

The neighbour said: "She earlier complained of being ill. I heard her when we were sitting in front of the house telling the person on phone to bring a plate of pepper soup and a drink for her, although I never knew it was her man-friend.

"When he came they went out to the woman who sells pepper soup and bought the whole pot. She told me to help her take care of the kids because she had a visitor."

Probably acting on a tip off, the husband returned home earlier than expected and caught her and her lover red handed.

According to the husband, "I built a shop for her to sell provisions, so I went to the market to buy protectors to be fixed in the shop. I just came back to realise that the kids were outside and the door locked.

"When I knocked she refused to open the door. Some neighbours who saw her and the man told me she was in with somebody, so I raised alarm.

"Instead of her to open the door, she opened the ceiling for him to enter and hide. Fortunately, with time a lot of people gathered and an elderly man from my village, who saw what the incident would have resulted to called the police. She opened the door when the police came to the house, and the man friend came down from the ceiling wearing boxers. This marriage has come to an end."

The man and the woman were taken away by the police for 'safe custody' and were later released on bail.

Also speaking with Vanguard the wife of the culprit said the rumour of her husband's illicit affair with their neighbour had been on for some time.

"I have heard severally that my husband has been engaging in extra-marital affairs with this woman; I went to her house and told her to leave my husband alone, but she refused. God has finally disgraced her", she said.

She added that she had asked her husband for money earlier that day but he claimed not to have money.

"I asked him for money because I felt sick, but he refused to give me saying he was broke"

Seventy year old Annette Larkins, a resident of Miami-Dade Country, Florida assures she has been married for 54 years. The secret behind her charming youthful looks is her Fountain of Youth. Fountain of Youth is her backyard garden wherein Annette grows all kinds of vegetables and fruits. Her raw vegetarian diet has made her look fabulous even in her old age.

"I am very vibrant, I have lots of energy, as I told you before, I am up no later than 5:30 in the morning as a rule, and I am ready to go," she said. Annette's husband owned a meat store in the 1960s. That's when she became a vegetarian. But as the years went by, she became a raw vegan. A Annette says she does not eat animal products-- her food is unprocessed and uncooked. "My diet consists of fruits, nuts, vegetables and seeds. I do a lot of sprouting of seeds and as you can see from my garden and of course these are the raw foods that I eat."

Annette admits that her diet comprises only of raw fruits, vegetables, nuts and seeds. It seems strange that a woman whose husband once owned a meat factory in 1960’s decided to turn vegan. Furthermore, she made another change in her diet. That was to eat unprocessed food. Since then, only raw fruits and vegetables go beyond her lips. More so, Annette also collects rain water to drink and nurture her garden.

The woman is absolutely healthy in all respects. She never takes a pill while her husband

pops a few for diabetes and high blood pressure. Raw vegan diet does have an advantage as I can see.

Annette has written two books entitled Journey to Health and she has also produced a DVD describing her daily nutritional routine.
While her husband speaks proudly of how excellent his wife is in building computers, making her own clothes and of course staying as charming as ever, Annette takes no modesty in claiming that she is an early morning person who wakes up at 5.30 and gets going for the day.

Annette's husband Amos of almost 54 years chose to continue to eat the way he did when they were first married. "I really wish I would have done what she did," he said. Amos says people even wonder if Annette is his wife. "They will ask me 'what am I doing with a young girl? or they will say 'you've got your granddaughter with you,' things like that."

Taraba State governor Danbaba Suntai has been discharged from the John Hopkins Hospital in Maryland State, three months after he was brought to the hospital’s Intensive Care Unit (ICU) as a result of the injuries he sustained during the October 2012 plane crash that involved him and some of his aides in Adamawa State.
Our correspondent, who got the information at the weekend that the governor had be discharged from the hospital, went immediately to the Suntai’s residence in New York, reports that Governor Suntai was truly discharged.
According to one of his personal doctors, who gave his name as Dr. Andrew Smith, Suntai will be advised to return back to Nigeria the moment it is confirmed that he can undergo a long distance flight.
It was learnt that apart from his wife, Hajia Hauwa Suntai and their children that were in the house, a top delegation of the state was also there to felicitate with the governor who had spent well over eight months both in German and United States hospitals.

Members of the delegation were a member representing Taraba state at the House of Representatives, Hon Haruna Manu, member of the state House of Assembly, Hon Mark Useni, former Deputy Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Hon Abel Peter Diah and Hon Rebo Usman.
The governor, whom our correspondent was introduced to shortly after his arrival at the residence, confirmed that he was medically okay and asked the people around him if he looked like someone who suffered from memory loss.
Dr. Andrew Smith, declined, saying that it would not be wise for the governor to start talking about the incident since he had just been discharged from hospital.
He said the governor should be allowed time to rest before being asked to narrate his ordeal.
Smith hinted that plans to make him return back to Nigeria were ongoing, but promised that the governor would speak intensively with our correspondent sometimes week before a date is finally fixed for his return back to Nigeria.
Asked if the governor was fit to walk around as part of the things required of him to function as a state governor, the doctor said “yes” and asked if the delegation from Taraba State could stand up with the governor for a photograph, an idea that was adopted to show his fitness.
The doctor also dismissed the rumor that Governor Suntai was having memory loss, saying that his client was very conscious and could see, stand, eat and recognize all the people around him by their names.

Detailed insights on the death of two former heads of state, General Sani Abacha and former President Musa Yar’Adua were given yesterday by a former medical director of the Military Hospital, Lagos, Brigadier-General Otu Oviemo Ovadje (rtd).

Oviemo, medical doctor and internationally acclaimed Nigeria Army inventor who spoke yesterday in Lagos at a symposium also revealed how a former minister in the former President Olusegun Obasanjo’s cabinet and a former Kwara State governor died due to lack of necessary medical facilities in the country.

“The late Gen Abacha while in office could not undertake medical tourism but imported Filipino doctors to manage his condition. The Filipino’s made a mockery of his management by pumping steroids into him.

“The President became bloated and was thought by the un-informed as improving and gaining weight. The President’s weight gain and puffiness was largely due to fluid retention. I was privileged as a celebrated Nigerian doctor at the time to advise but there were too many uninterested aides of the Head of State. It became too late in the day. He snapped and died,” Oviemo stated.

He said it was unfortunate that the late leader could build a specialised centre to cater for his ailment, though there are more and better trained Nigerians who could have handled his case better, noting that it was profitable to bring in foreign doctors to spite the home grown, and for what is in it for them.

Oviemo attributed the death of the late President Yar’Adua from brain damage caused by severe asphyxia to ignorance and poor management.

“The presence of a sophisticated Air and Land Ambulance did not prevent him from dying from his condition just as the hospital in Saudi Arabia with all its gadgets could not reverse damage done to his brain during an acute deterioration of his health.

“Imagine what could have happened to our very meek, humble and generally loved president when he suffered an acute relapse of his condition. He was rushed into the ambulance and a face mask was turned on with oxygen flushing over his face.”

Oviemo stated that the late Head of State was “hypo-ventilating at the time and by the time he got to Saudi Arabia, he had suffered irreversible brain death.

“Because Nigerians believe in the god of mammon and that money answers all things, they expected a miracle from the Saudi hospital. The truth is that if we had good centres back home in Nigeria, the late Head of State should have been stabilised before been flown out. Our usual first impulse is to fly out the sick and our experiences have shown that many patients die,” he said.

He also recalled the death of an unnamed former Military Governor of Kwara State who had pneumonia, and he was called to attend. However, the said governor was flown abroad without his own knowledge and the said former governor eventually died.

According to him, “I met the big man sweaty, restless and confused due to carbon dioxide narcosis from his poor ventilation. I only adjusted his neck and positioned his head to enable him exhale properly and his condition improved.

“I advised them not to fly him out immediately to allow him to be stable. I volunteered to fly with him at my own expense to support him on board. By the time I returned back from Lagos where I went for my passport, the man had been flown out. Early in the morning, I got a call from one of my highly placed mentors that “we lost him”.

“I was told that he got to Germany but he died before he could gain admission to a hospital. The General’s condition could have been very well-managed in Nigeria but for the pleasure of medical tourism and the absence of identifiable/recognisable facilities and expertise. Money has robbed many privileged and affluent Nigerians of sensibility. They never see with you or take advice when money talks,” Oviemo recalled.

He added that during the second term of former President Olusegun Obasanjo, a former minister died from asthmatic attacks which could have been easily treated if necessary medical facilities were available in the country.

South Africans, including their top government officials according to Oviemo, hardly undertake medical tourism like their Nigerian counterparts, noting that former President Nelson Mandela was still being treated for a heart condition in his country when he could have been flown out for treatment.

He said many Nigerians cannot afford the price of management in centres that are well-equipped, while some of the centres are entrusted to mediocre due to nepotism or political consideration.

Oviemo spoke at the symposium organised by Mcnext Intellectual Property in collaboration with the Student Union Government of Yaba College of Technology, Lagos on the topic Where are we in the Global Plan?

He also lamented the country’s decline in Defence Technology and Agriculture.

Kenyan President deports Nigerians enmasse

For Nigerians resident in Kenya, these are the worst of times. Their plight
could be compared to the era of slave trade when able-bodied Africans could
not tell what the next minute held for them because human traffickers could
pick them up the next minute.
Checks revealed that in recent times, Nigerians have become victims of
undeserved humiliation and deportation in President Barrack Obama’s country
of origin.
It was gathered that due to the uproar that followed a recent publication
by Sunday Sun in which one of the deportees, Anthony Chinedu, recounted his
sad experiences in the hands of Kenyan security personnel, the government
of the East African country swiftly changed its strategy. According to
latest deportees, the Kenyan security agents have resorted to bugging
telephone conversations of Nigerians, and once the name or language sounds
Nigerian, they would trace the person and get him arrested.
They stated that Nigerian citizens, especially those engaged in legitimate
businesses in that country live literally with their hearts on their palms,
hiding from place to place for fear of being picked up and bundled back
home empty handed.
It was alleged that part of the grouse that the Kenyan President and his
deputy have against Nigerian citizens was that Nigerians gave massive
support to his rival in the country’s recent presidential election and that
a Nigerian is in charge of the deputy president’s case at the International
Criminal Court.
*Jet used to deport Anthony Chinedu still at MMA*
Checks by Sunday Sun indicated that, as at press time, the jet (5Y-SAX)
used to deport Anthony Chinedu last week, was still being detained at the
cargo wing of the of Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos.
Unconfirmed sources from Kenya said the jet belonged to Hon William Ruto,
the Kenyan Vice President. It was gathered that the jet’s voyage into the
Nigerian airspace was not properly and officially documented, a situation
that suggested that it might not have followed due process.
*President orders mass arrest and deportation*
A tacit official confirmation that Kenya-based Nigerians were really in for
hard times, came last Monday, when that country’s president, Uhuru
Kenyatta, in a public function, gave his nod to mass deportation of
Nigerians. While declaring open the 2nd National Conference on Alcohol and
Drug Abuse (NACADA) in Nairobi, on June 11, 2013, he ordered the security
agencies to fish out, arrest and deport all foreigners suspected to engage
in drug trafficking in Kenya. Sunday Sun monitored the reportage of the
presidential order that was relayed in Kenyan radio and TV stations
including NTV, Capital FM and Ghetto Radio- 89.5FM, as well as some
tabloids the next day. Some of their headlines read: “Deport all suspected
drug dealers”, “Police to arrest, deport all foreigners suspected of
engaging in drug”, and “Deport all suspected foreign drug dealers”. It was
gathered that since that official directive, several Nigerians have been
secretly deported.
Many Nigerian citizens in that country saw the presidential order as an
official permission to Kenyans to tag any face they do not like, as
“suspected” drug dealer. One of them who mailed Sunday Sun stated that,
“since all it takes to throw a foreigner out of Kenya is mere suspicion,
landlords, debtors and anybody who doesn’t like your face only needs to
call in the police and brand you a suspect.”
One of the victims who identified himself simply as Joe, spoke to Sunday
Sun upon his arrival at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, on
Monday. Like Chinedu, he is also an indigene of Anambra state. Narrating
his experiences in the hands of the Kenyan police, he stated that he was
picked up Sunday night and told to choose either to die slowly in their
(security men) hands or silent deportation.
“I asked them what they meant by going home silently and they said they
would just buy a normal air ticket for me, so I could return to Nigeria
like other normal travelers, and I chose the latter,” he said.
Joe said he learnt later, that the security agents adopted the strategy
because the Nigerian High Commission in Kenya had lodged official complaint
to the authorities about the deportation of Nigerian citizens without its
knowledge. About a dozen Nigerian citizens resident in Kenya who reacted to
Sunday Sun interview with Anthony Chinedu also confirmed that Nigerians
were still being recklessly arrested and detained. They also confirmed
Joe’s allegation of silent deportation.
Another deportee, Mr Paul Owoseni, an indigene of Ondo state, told a
pathetic story. He told Sunday Sun while on his way to his village that he
did not know his offence.
Hear him: “Many Nigerians are still detained there, as we speak, awaiting
deportation. Till now, I don’t know what offence I committed that warranted
this inhuman treatment. Their security agents just go on the streets of
Kenya, picking up anyone they identify as a Nigerian and tag him a drug
dealer. I was doing my legitimate business in that country; I did not sale,
take or keep drugs, and nobody has ever seen me with any narcotic
substance. They picked me up on Monday (June 3), and detained me till
Thursday, before bundling about ten of us into the plane. We were not
allowed to take even a pin. They told us while in detention, that they
wanted all Nigerians out of their country, not minding whether we were
doing legitimate business or not. They also said that they did not want to
get rid of us through court process.
*Tracking method*
“The moment you call a friend and the security agents noticed it is a
Nigerian name you called, they would track both of you and get you
arrested. They also intercept calls, and once they notice that you sounded
Nigerian, they would trace you and get you arrested immediately.”
Owoseni told Sunday Sun that while in Kenya, he was into importation of
human hairs that he also supplied to Uganda and Tanzania, and he had just
stocked his shop. Oseni alleged that the security agents broke his gate
while he was away on the day they came to arrest him, at about 5pm, and
waited for him.
“They even arrested a friend that was in my company at that time. I will
not mention his name because he is among those in detention in Kenya.”
*Kenyan wife works with Kenyan army *
Owoseni who arrived in Nigeria with nothing, told Sunday Sun that like many
other Nigerians, he was married to a Kenyan and they had a child, Micheal.
He stated that his Kenyan wife, Damaris, who works for the Kenyan army, was
still at work when he was arrested, and they did not allow him to
communicate with her before he was deported. Like the other deportees, he
urged that the Nigerian government should not let all their struggles in
Kenya to be in vain.
*Another Deportee speaks*
Also forced out of Kenya, was Oluwatosin Adebiyi, an indigene of Oyo State,
who was arrested at midnight and taken away in his nightclothes. “They
stormed my house at midnight and arrested me. They were about 40 armed men,
and before I was taken away, they ransacked the house and took away all
handy valuables including my $20,000 cash, five phones and three ipads
belonging to me and my wife. My duplex, two cars and other valuables in the
house are worth over N60 million. “The most annoying part was that they
rendered me incommunicado, disallowed me from communicating with my Kenyan
wife and children. They did not give me any option while in detention.”

Another deportee, Mr Daniel, narrated his ordeal in Kenya. “On Sunday night
(June 2), about 15 policemen who were armed to the teeth, came to my house.
They actually scaled the fence like criminals, around 1 a.m., and ordered
me to open my door. Initially, I thought they were armed robbers.
