The Ealing Guitar Society would like to thank all it's patrons past and present for keeping the society going since December 1969.

As we all know, the effects of Covid have had damaging effects on live music in general. Many societies have closed their doors since 2020.

We just about made 50 years, Carlos Bonell playing for us in December 2019. The next concert was given by Fiona Harrison in March 2020, just before Covid shut everything down. In retrospect it is fitting that Fiona have the last gig, being for many years a resident of Ealing and a regular player at the society.

Will the society continue at any point? Time will tell.

Fiona Harrison.

Fiona has given numerous solo recitals throughout the country, broadcast live on BBC radio, been featured on television and performed in ensemble at The Barbican Centre and London Purcell Room. She has performed Rodrigo’s “Concierto d’Aranjuez” numerous times in the UK and Spain and was a guest artist with the “Stichting Gitaarorkest Nederland” early 2019.

Fiona has been a guest tutor for three consecutive summers at The Royal Greenwich Guitar Festival, 2017-2019, and taught for several years at the International Summer Guitar Festival, West Dean. Fiona worked for the ABRSM professional development team for many years and co-directed numerous very popular residential flute and guitar courses with Julie Wright and Atarah Ben-Tovim, MBE, in the UK and abroad.

Alongside performing and teaching, Fiona runs regular workshops in Surrey, has provided performance classes at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance, 2019, and has adjudicated their prestigious Alison Stephens Competition. Fiona has also adjudicated various music festivals in the South East and worked as an external assessor for the Royal College of Music junior department. Fiona enjoyed working as a teacher assistant at Yale University and at various times has provided inset training sessions for the Surrey County Music Service.

Fiona Harrison graduated from the Royal College of Music and with a Masters degree from Yale University, USA. The later degree was enabled through a scholarship from Yale and an Award from the Countess of Munster Musical Trust.

50th Anniversary Celebrity Concert : Carlos Bonell

Carlos Bonell was born in London of Spanish parents and studied at the Royal College of Music with John Williams where he was appointed the youngest-ever professor. He gained prominence through his Decca recording of Rodrigo's Concierto de Aranjuez which has been repeatedly singled out as the finest version available.

Over the past few years Carlos has been helping Sir Paul McCartney in editing, notating and recording a concerto he is composing for guitar and orchestra.

Carlos’ discography includes more than 20 CD and DVD recordings. His 2012 album Magical Mystery Guitar Tour went to number one on the UK classical iTunes charts.

In 2018 Carlos spent time in the studio recording music for the UK TV series Endeavour (the young Inspector Morse). Carlos also recorded the guitar music and theme with orchestra for the original Inspector Morse series – 30 years ago!

His most recent album Once We Moved Like The Wind includes the first guitar recording of music from The Piano by Michael Nyman.

Ben Travers.

Ben Travers grew up in southwest London and fled to distant parts as soon as possible. He has travelled and played in Australia, Latin America, eastern Europe, France, Spain and Italy.

A self-taught musician, in the Eighties he finally sought professional help at Dartington College of Arts in Devon. Here, as a guitar performance undergraduate, he studied with the legendary acoustic guitarist John Renbourn.

He has arranged and composed several pieces of his own. Otherwise his repertoire owes much to his travels in South America, to jazz and bossa nova. Apart from Renbourn, he lists Bert Jansch, John Scofield, John Martyn and Carlos Barbosa Lima as his favourite players.

Martin has been delighted to play on several occasions at the Ealing Guitar Society since leaving The London College of Music in 1979.

He has been involved in many musical projects, including classical trios, folk quartets and Latin jazz bands.

He has worked in several West End theatre productions most notably Zorro at the Garrick Theatre playing the music of the Gypsy Kings.

For this recital he has gone back to his classical upbringing and has assembled some of his very favourite pieces!

Irish guitarist Manus Noble is one of the UK's leading classical guitarists, known for his strong, unique sound, original compositions and varied recital programmes that aim to break down audience's preconceptions of what is possible on the guitar. Noble studied with Craig Ogden, Gary Ryan and Michael Lewin, graduating from the Royal College of Music with First Class Honours and the Royal Academy of Music with Distinction. He then went on to launch his career to wide critical acclaim, winning awards from the Musician's Benevolent Fund, Ian Flemming Trust, Countess of Munster Trust, Ivor Mairants Guitar Competition, Royal College of Music Guitar Competitions and being accepted onto the Park Lane Group, Countess of Munster and Making Music Concert Series.

Career highlights include recitals at major UK venues such as the Purcell Rooms, Queen Elizabeth Hall, Royal Festival Hall, Sage Gateshead, Bridgewater Hall, Kings Place and Wigmore Hall, as well as giving recitals and masterclasses at Festivals across the UK and Europe. Noble is also in high demand as a teacher, teaching at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama as well as directing the National Youth Guitar Ensemble in Wales.

In 2019 Noble graduated from the European Institute of Guitar Making under the tutelage of Stephen Hill and Evan Kingma, and now works as a luthier out of his workshop in Oxford. Since being a prize winner in the prestigious London International Guitar Competition, Johan Löfving has established himself as a truly exciting musician of a new generation with a particular passion for the music of the eighteenth and early- nineteenth centuries. His performances have taken him to some of the finest concert halls such as Wigmore Hall, Kings Place, The Sage Gateshead, Wiener Saal Salzburg and MuTh- Konzertsaal der Wiener Sängerknaben in Vienna.

Additionally, he has appeared in major festivals including Spitalfields, King’s Lynn, Stratford-on-Avon, Brighton Early Music Festival, Cambridge Summer Music Festival, Bath Guitar Festival, Saxå Chamber Music Festival, Styriarte Festival Graz and Carinthischer Sommer in Villach, Austria.

In 2011 Johan was awarded the First Prize in the Young Talent Concert at the Uppsala Guitar Festival in Sweden and the performance was recorded and broadcast later by the Swedish Radio P2. The following year he was awarded the Jörgen Rörby Prize and the audience prize from the Swedish Guitar and Lute Society.

Apart from his long term work with Flauguissimo Duo and Improviso, he has worked with some of the finest musicians, such as Barokksolistene, baritone Thomas Guthrie, tenor Rob Murray as well as pianist David Owen Norris, who invited him to take part in the ‘Playlist Series’ on BBC Radio 4. His passion for new music has resulted in several world premieres of both solo and chamber works, notably by the highly acclaimed British composer and guitarist Sam Cave.

Johan graduated with First Class Honours from the Royal College of Music in London, where he studied guitar with Gary Ryan, theorbo with Jakob Lindberg and conducting with Natalia Luis-Bassa. At RCM he was awarded both the Guitar Prize and the Hilda Anderson Dean Prize. Subsequently, he completed his studies at the Mozarteum in Salzburg with Professors Robert Wolff and Hans Brüderl and was awarded a scholarship from the Swedish Royal Academy of Music.

Davide Sciacca - A Guitar at the Opera

Davide Sciacca obtained a Diploma with Honours in Guitar from the IMVB in Catania in 2008, followed by a Master Degree in Music and Guitar Teaching in 2010. He then went on to achieve a further Master Degree with honours in Musical Disciplines and Guitar Interpretation and Composition in 2012, including a thesis on the French composer Napolean Coste’s opera for Oboe and Guitar.

In 2013 Davide was awarded a Masters in New Technology for Music from the same institution, as well, in 2015, as an additional Master Degree in Chamber Music from the Conservatoire Bellini in Palermo. In 2016 he obtained a Master in Contemporary Music from the Conservatoire Santa Cecilia in Rome, studying with the extremely talented musician Arturo Tallini.

Davide won more than fifty 1st prizes in international musical competitions including Amigdala, Magna Grecia, Benedetto Albanese, A gi Mus and AMA Calabria. He also earned special prizes for his appearances at the international course Citta di Palermo, the Premio Lillina Condemi Prize 2014 and Ierna Prize 2010. Over the years composers Andrea Amici, Laurent Boutros, Roberto Cipollina, Francesco Santucci, Domenico Scaminante, Andrea Schiavo, Joe Schittino and Giuseppe Torrisi have dedicated original compositions to him. He has also been a judge for important national and international guitar and chamber music competitions.

Davide’s performances have included his solo guitar concerts as well as appearances with chamber music groups, and as a soloist with orchestras in a variety of venues including theatres, cultural centres, universities and churches and cathedrals. He has also performed at the Tuscia International Guitar Festival and with the Ersu Orchestra from his home town of Catania. He regularly lectures at universities in the UK and Italy.

From 2014 Davide Sciacca toured England, Scotland and Wales as both a soloist and as part of the Ten Strings Duo with violinist Marianatalia Ruscica, playing at prestigious venues.

In the years 2016 and 2017 he performed in the presence of Her Majesty The Queen, His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh, HRH The Prince of Wales, HRH The Duke and The Duchess of Cambridge and other members of the Royal Family.

In 2018 Davide debuted in the United States performing for Culture Connection in New York City.

He has collaborated with actors and directors such as Michele Placido and Guia Jelo.

Davide’s repertoire isn’t confined to classical music, and he has appeared with rock and pop musicians at festivals and events including Sanremo Rock, Star Sprint, Time Tour and Girofestival, as well as working as session musician.

His media appearances include work for Sky, Made in Liverpool Tv, Tele D, Rei TV, Globus Television, and BBC Radio Merseyside.

Davide currently teaches Guitar and Tablature for Lute as part of the academic courses at IMVB in Caltanissetta, Guitar at IMPV in Caltagirone and he also teaches guitar in A. Musco high school in Catania, Sicily.

The Modern Guitar Trio

The Modern Guitar Trio was formed in 2000 when Australian Roland Chadwick teamed up with English virtuosi Roland Gallery and Vincent Lindsay-Clark to record the suite; ‘Letter from LA’ for Roland’s 2000 CD, ‘The Revealing’. Written in 1997, this year’s West Dean Classical Guitar Festival performance marks the 20^th anniversary of this works composition.

After writing a repertoire of guitar trios the Modern Guitar Trio recorded their self-titled CD which included The Wendy House by Roland Chadwick which was later choreographed by Parrish Maynard and performed by the San Francisco Ballet in San Francisco in 2010.

Roland G, Roland C and Vincent have set about writing a new repertoire for The Modern Guitar Trio culminating in their ground-breaking new program: The Puppeteer and Metropolis – Vincent; Three Venezuelan Folk Songs – Roland G; The Memory of Water – Roland C and Roland Chadwick’s Letter from LA.

Recent Performances include The International Classical Guitar Festival of Great Britain at West Dean; Heidelberg Guitar Festival 2016 with Pepe Romero.

Regarded by The Guardian as ‘’impressively expert” and by Classical Guitar Magazine as ‘’a highly talented player’’, Albanian-born Jon Gjylaci is in increasing demand as a performer due to his wide ranging repertoire, “brilliant interpretations”, “compelling quality to his guitar playing” and his ability to connect with the audience.
Jon has performed in concerts and recitals across the UK as a soloist and chamber musician. Recent performances include venues such as St Martin-in-the-Fields, Cadogan Hall, The Bridgewater Hall and Newcastle Cathedral to name but a few. Jon was invited to Manchester Guitar Circle’s 70th Anniversary Concert where he performed alongside the celebrated Chinese guitarist Xuefei Yang. He has also given solo recitals and master classes in Greece and Albania.
Jon’s busy schedule this year included several world premiere performances of new guitar works written especially for him such as Ray Kohn’s ‘Dances in the Dark’ and Mark Houghton’s ‘Sonatine’ for solo guitar. During this season he has performed Rodrigo’s ‘Concierto de Aranjuez’ and ‘Fantasia para un Gentilhombre’ with RTSH Symphony Orchestra of Albania and Bolton Chamber Orchestra.
Jon has released two critically acclaimed solo guitar albums and Classical Guitar Magazine has commented on his “…very impressive technical ability, which enables him to flash around the fingerboard in an apparent effortless manner."
The Guardian wrote ‘’…when in the impressively expert hands of Greek-Albanian Jon Gjylaci, [the guitar’s] versatility is immediately apparent.’’
He was recently selected by the BBC Radio 3 as one of their ‘BBC Classical Introducing Artists’ and has been interviewed and performed live on Radio 3’s ‘In Tune’. Jon was also a leading feature in Classical Guitar Magazine Spring 2017 issue.
Jon was awarded the Edward Boyle Scholarship and Musicians' Benevolent Funds Award to study at the Royal Northern College of Music. He studied under the internationally acclaimed guitarist Craig Ogden, gaining his Bachelor of Music degree and his Postgraduate Diploma in Performance with distinction. Jon plays a 2007 Greg Smallman and he is currently a tutor in guitar at the JRNCM and Bolton School.

Valérie Hartzell began her classical guitar studies on a half-size Ramirez at the age of three. At the age of six, she studied with maestro Alexandre Lagoya at the Académie Internationale d’Eté in Nice, France.
She has performed in Europe, Canada, the U.S. and has appeared on television in Nice, FR and Houston, TX. She has also been featured on National Public Radio in Texas and Alaska, the show “Women in Music” which is broadcast on CKWR, 98.5 FM Canada, U.S. syndicated radio show, Classical Guitar Alive! and on the BBC Radio in the UK. She has been featured in several guitar magazines and newspapers including Bedfordshire The Oracle (UK), Bedfordshire on Sunday (UK), Anchorage Daily News (Alaska, USA), Warrington Guardian (UK), Soundboard Magazine (US), Classical Guitar Magazine (UK), and Gendai Magazine (Japan).
She has performed in over 30 festivals, including the 2010 ChamberArt Music Festival in Madrid, Spain, the Annual Classical Guitar Fall Festival in Oneonta, NY, the Pennsylvania Academy of Music Festival where she shared the stage with Eliot Fisk, Guitaromania in Agen, France, and at the Menil Community Arts Festival Performance at the Rothko Chapel. Most recently, she was the only classical musician to be picked for the BBC Introducing Stage to perform at the Latitude Festival.
Hartzell has been featured as a guest soloist for the New York City Classical Guitar Society, the Grand Canyon Guitar Society, the Performing Arts Society of Kenai, Alaska, the Oxford Guitar Society in England, the Manchester Acoustic Guitar Society in England, the Liverpool Guitar Society, at Arizona State University, at University of Alaska at Anchorage, at Peck School of the Arts (University of Milwaukee-Wisconsin), and Clare Hall at Cambridge University. Recently, she gave an eleven-concert tour of Alaska as part of Duo Amiche (with mezzo-soprano & pianist, Tamara McCoy) and a seven-concert tour of England, including a London debut.
She is a prizewinner in 8 international competitions including 1st prizes at the 10th International Guitar Competition “Simone Salmaso” in Italy and at the Concours de Guitare Classique Heitor Villa-Lobos in France.
Ms. Hartzell has a Bachelor’s from Peabody Conservatory where she studied with Manuel Barrueco on scholarship and a Master’s Degree from Radford University in Virginia where she was awarded a Graduate Teaching Fellowship.
She has two recordings; Ex Tenebris Lux, a solo project and Presti, an ensemble project, which were both recorded at the National Public Radio studios in Houston.
Currently, Hartzell lives in Bedfordshire where she maintains an active concert career both as a soloist and as a chamber musician. Nikki Wilkinson – Baroque Flute

Nikki Wilkinson started studying the flute, aged 13, in Bristol with Carole Jenner-Timms and later with Averil Williams in London. After completing a performer’s diploma in modern flute, she became interested in and was captivated by historical flute performance and has studied the baroque flute with Philippe Allain-Dupré, Wilbert Hazelzet and Masterclasses with Rachel Brown. She particularly enjoys performing with Duos and chamber ensembles and now specialises in the Baroque Flute

Her boxwood flute is made by Philippe Allain-Dupré, Paris, in 2009 (A 415) based on Denner (outside) and Stanesby (inside) and a grenadilla copy of the Hotteterre ‘Berlin’ flute (A 392) made by Giovanni Tardino, Basel in 2013.

David Parsons studied at the Royal College of Music as a pupil of Diana Poulton. Following a successful Wigmore Hall debut he has toured widely in Europe, Scandanavia and the USA. He has broadcast in London, Los Angeles, Oslo, and Munich and presented a recital of Lute music for Spanish Television.
His recent CD releases have included Elizabethan Lute Music, 18th century ‘galant’ chamber music with his trio, The Haydn Lute Trio and the music of the 19th guitar virtuoso Fernando Sor together with the soprano Evelyn Tubb.

Pavel started playing the guitar at the age of ten, quickly developing a passion for classical music. He graduated the National School of Music and Dance Arts in Plovdiv, Bulgaria, receiving an award for his high musical achievements. He then went on to study at the Royal Academy of Music on a full scholarship with widely respected professor Michael Lewin.

Pavel has participated in masterclasses with world-renowned guitarists such as Fabio Zanon, David Russell, Marcin Dylla, Edoardo Catemario, George Vassillev to name a few, and he has met and played for the legendary Julian Bream. He has won several prizes in solo and chamber music competitions in his native Bulgaria. He has also performed live for both the Bulgarian National Radio and Television, and in venues like the Plovdiv Philharmonic House, Bulgarian National Opera, Duke’s Hall at RAM, and the House of Commons in the British Parliament. This year he went back to his school in Plovdiv to give a performance class. He lives in London and works as a guitar teacher with the DaCapo Music Foundation.

Since being a prize winner in the prestigious London International Guitar Competition, Swedish Johan Löfving has established himself as one of the most exciting musicians of a new generation.

His solo recitals have taken him to some of the finest halls in Britain such as Kings Place and The Sage Gateshead, followed by celebrated chamber music performances in major halls and festivals such as Spitalfields, King's Lynn, Stratford-on-Avon, Brighton Early Music Festival, Carinthischer Sommer, Styriarte Festival and Konzertsaal der Wiener Sängerknaben MuTh in Vienna.

He graduated with First Class Honours from the Royal College of Music in London where he studied guitar with Gary Ryan, theorbo with Jakob Lindberg and conducting with Natalia Luis-Bassa. At RCM he was awarded both the Guitar Prize and the Hilda Anderson Dean Prize. Later, he completed his studies with Prof. Robert Wolff at the Mozarteum in Salzburg.

Additionally, in 2011 Johan was awarded the First Prize in the Young Talent Concert at the Uppsala Guitar Festival in Sweden the performance was recorded and broadcasted later by the Swedish Radio P2.

The following year he was honored to receive the Jörgen Rörby Prize from the Swedish Guitar and Lute Society as well as their audience prize.

Since 2009, Johan has been performing regularly with his wife, flautist Yu-Wei Hu as Flauguissimo Duo. They have specialized in the early 19th century repertoire and its exciting blend of spontaneous musical conversations and sublime beauty. The musical experience is heightened by their use of period instruments and Johan is particularly fond of his beautifully ornamented french guitar dating back to 1850.

Apart from his long term work with Flauguissimo Duo, he has worked with some of the finest musicians, such as baritone Thomas Guthrie, tenor Rob Murray and pianist David Owen Norris who invited him to take part in the 'Playlist Series' on BBC Radio 4. His passion for new music has resulted in several world premieres of both solo and chamber works, notably by the highly acclaimed British composer and guitarist Sam Cave.

Johan is keen to emphasize the great inspiration he received from his teachers since the very beginning. He started to play at the age of nine at the Music School in Årjäng with Lars Eriksson. From there, he went on to study privately with the distinguished Norwegian Guitar Professor Sven Lundestad and later with Bo Hansson in Stockholm. Later he had the honour to study with legendary Eliot Fisk in Salzburg as part of the Erasmus Exchange Programme.

Johan plays on a guitar made by the Norwegian Luthier Yngvar Thomassen, a theorbo by German Wolfgang Emmerich and a French Tribout guitar from 1850.

Deluge is a collaboration of jazz guitarists Jeff Rodrigues (London) and Tobias Rupp (Cologne). Sharing a passion for the Standard repertoire, Brazilian jazz and harmonically sophisticated music of Bill Evans and Wayne Shorter, Deluge are equally at home in both classic & modern contemporary jazz guitar styles and share a unique chemistry.

Jeff Rodrigues is a guitarist and music educator fluent in both Classical and Jazz genres. He performs on the London jazz scene in numerous settings - from solo guitar and accompanying vocalists, to various instrumental duo/trio and larger groups. As well as being regularly invited to perform at venues and festivals throughout the UK, he has also performed in Canada, Portugal, Spain and Italy. Jeff studied guitar in his native Canada and holds both a BMus and FRSM in Guitar Performance.

Tobias Rupp is a composer, performer and guitar teacher, and holds a Masters degree in Jazz Guitar. He studied with world-class guitarists Ben Monder and Wolfgang Muthspiel in New York. He has been involved in numerous jazz and fusion projects and played with renowned musicians Jacob Collier, Tim Lefebvre, Carlos Lopez-Real, Calum Gourlay, and others. He has appeared at festivals and venues including the prestigious London jazz clubs The Vortex, The Bulls Head Barnes, Charlie Wright’s, and Ronnie Scott’s.

Ed studied in London with Carlos Bonell and David Russell and studied performance and interpretation with Rodger Bigley as an RNCM post grad. He is an experienced and engaging performer who also teaches in Manchester and Yorkshire. Ed has performed at many festivals including Boston, Rye, Battle, Buxton Fringe as well as the Rose Hill Theatre Whithaven, De La Warr Pavillion, Bridgewater Hall, Bolivar Hall London and RNCM Concert Hall.

Up coming concerts include Buxton Fringe and Chorlton Festival and Prestbury Church Cheshire. In April Ed stood in for a Ray Burley Concert with a days notice.

His programme will include the Bach Chaconne as well as Rodrigos Fandango along with works by Dyens, Villa Lobos, Eric Satie and Albeniz.

John Newman

John has been connected with the society for 35 years having given his first '5 min slot' in 1980. since then he has performed many times as both soloist and in ensemble in various forms: guitar duets , flute and guitar, guitar trio and is a member of the long running Hanwellian ensemble-quintet.
John began his studies, after graduating in Physiology, in 1069 with the Jazz guitarist and full time session -man Charlie Smith. Later periods of study were with Douglas Rogers , Fiona Harrison and he attends summer schools and weekend course regularly with, amongst others, Gerald Garcia.
John was formerly secretary of Ealing guitar society having taken over from Valery Flynn after her very sad illness in 1997.He does therefore fully appreciate the amount of time that Steve Dell gives to us in keeping things rolling over the last 10 or so years.

Richard was born in Liverpool in 1959, had classical guitar lessons in his teens, and obtained an ALCM diploma. Since that time he continued practising and learning and has been a member of the EGS for about 20 years. He has performed at the EGS a number of times and at charity events, including an annual appearance at mental health charity MIND’s festival in Kingston. In addition to his classical work he has worked with singer David Jennings and Australian composer and producer Cliff Bradley to write and record songs. He loves the sound and versatility of the classical guitar and will present a programme of music ranging from renaissance to romantic music.

Petros Andreou

Petros was born in 1960 in Cyprus, but since the age of 6 months has lived in the United Kingdom. Petros started learning the Classical Guitar at the age of 9 and then the Bouzouki at the age of 12. He started playing the Bouzouki professionally from the age of 15. He experimented with transcribing classical music for the Bouzouki and found an authentic sound. He has performed the Vivaldi guitar concerto adapted for Bouzouki and has given numerous recitals as a soloist performing classical transcriptions. He has also performed his own compositions. He has performed twice at the Purcell Room of the Royal Festival Hall in London with soprano singer Soumaya Deeb, and was then invited to perform at the Auditorium Al Bustan in Beirut Lebanon in 2005 which proved to be a great success. Petros currently teaches both the Classical Guitar and Bouzouki; and performs on both instruments.

Guitarist Terry Spooner and violinist Jane Miller formed TenStringFever in 2005 with a view to performing a wide range of music to audiences anywhere.

Both experienced musicians, their backgrounds range through classical, jazz, rock, folk, tango, film music, and they met whilst teaching their respective instruments in east London. Also they have played together in various ensembles.

Apart from live performances they have released two albums ‘Jigs & Jazz’ and ‘Chase the Sun’, the latter to critical acclaim.

Their music has a huge range and in tonight’s recital they will be playing classical , gypsy jazz , Argentinian tangos , and film music by Schubert ,Boccherini, Piazzolla, Morricone plus some of their own original pieces.

Guitarist Fiona Harrison trained at the Royal College of Music and Yale University, USA. She has performed solo recitals throughout the country, performed Rodrigo’s fiendishly difficult masterpiece, “Concierto d’Aranjuez” with many orchestras and is equally at ease with smaller chamber groups. Performance venues include London’s Purcell Room and Barbican Centre.
Fiona has been featured on television, BBC radio and worked as a soloist and ensemble musician aboard various cruise lines. She co-hosted many hugely popular residential flute and guitar courses with her former flautist, Julie Wright and has been the featured guest soloist and teacher at various guitar festivals, including the “International Summer School” at West Dean. Fiona is well-known as an inspiring music teacher and worked as part of the professional development team for the ABRSM for many years. She has vast experience in teaching masterclasses and private lessons at all levels.
Fiona’s latest CD “The Legend of Hagoromo” features exciting, fresh music from Japan, Australia and France and her current recording project is with the stunning electric guitarist Stuart Ansell. Fiona is a former resident of Ealing and currently resides in Surrey.

Renato Pavesi was born in Budapest from an Italian father and a Hungarian mother and was raised there where he learnt privately from a handful of exceptional guitar maestros. In Hungary, he had several projects and had appeared in TV and radio shows and regularly was invited to play on festivals including one of Europe's largest music gathering the SZIGET Festival. He had travelled extensively and performed not only in European countries such as Sweden, Italy, Spain and France but in Iraq, Korea and Japan as well. In the UK he was performing in the St. James Theatre and The Rose Theatre in Kingston and on summer festivals like the Also Festival. His repertoire is based on many of his own compositions and of flamenco puro guitar pieces. He had been influenced by Paco de Lucia, Sabicas and also by Hungarian Gipsy music. He keeps alive the tradition of solo flamenco guitar recital commenced by Maestro Sabicas and aside of being a traditional player he reinvents and personalises the spirit of flamenco. Currently Renato is studying music at Kingston University in London.

Stephen Yates is one of Britain's few composer/guitarists. Originally an award winning classical guitarist performing standard repertoire, his experience of arranging and composing for ensembles combined with his love for a wide variety of music from around the world inevitably led him to apply himself to music for solo guitar. His music is as eclectic as can be imagined, incorporating classical European as well as Asian, African, Irish and popular influences, but rather than pastiche, he combines these elements at their core to produce a style all his own. Virtuosic and yet lyrical, his music can be seen as belonging both to the classical world as well as to the contemporary.
