2. वस्त्र-

दिसम्बर और जनवरी में वही वस्त्र, कंबल, रजाई, ठिठुरते हाथ पैर..

चैत्र मास में सर्दी जा रही होती है, गर्मी का आगमन होने जा रहा होता है I

3. विद्यालयो का नया सत्र- दिसंबर जनवरी वही कक्षा कुछ नया नहीं..

जबकि मार्च अप्रैल में स्कूलो का रिजल्ट आता है नई कक्षा नया सत्र यानि विद्यालयों में नया साल I

4. नया वित्तीय वर्ष-

दिसम्बर-जनबरी में कोई खातो की क्लोजिंग नही होती.. जबकि 31 मार्च को बैंको की (audit) कलोसिंग होती है नए वही खाते खोले जाते है I सरकार का भी नया सत्र शुरू होता है I

5. कलैण्डर-

जनवरी में नया कलैण्डर आता है..

चैत्र में नया पंचांग आता है I उसी से सभी भारतीय पर्व, विवाह और अन्य महूर्त देखे जाते हैं I इसके बिना हिन्दू समाज जीबन की कल्पना भी नही कर सकता इतना महत्वपूर्ण है ये कैलेंडर यानि पंचांग I

6. किसानो का नया साल- दिसंबर-जनवरी में खेतो में वही फसल होती है..

जबकि मार्च-अप्रैल में फसल कटती है नया अनाज घर में आता है तो किसानो का नया वर्ष और उतसाह I

7. पर्व मनाने की विधि-

31 दिसम्बर की रात नए साल के स्वागत के लिए लोग जमकर मदिरा पान करते है, हंगामा करते है, रात को पीकर गाड़ी चलने से दुर्घटना की सम्भावना, रेप जैसी वारदात, पुलिस प्रशासन बेहाल और भारतीय सांस्कृतिक मूल्यों का विनाश..

जबकि *भारतीय नववर्ष व्रत से शुरू होता है पहला नवरात्र होता है* घर घर मे माता रानी की पूजा होती है I शुद्ध सात्विक वातावरण बनता है I

8. ऐतिहासिक महत्त्व- 1 जनवरी का कोई ऐतेहासिक महत्व नही है..

जबकि चैत्र प्रतिपदा के दिन महाराज विक्रमादित्य द्वारा विक्रमी संवत् की शुरुआत, भगवान झूलेलाल का जन्म, नवरात्रे प्रारंम्भ, ब्रहम्मा जी द्वारा सृष्टि की रचना इत्यादि का संबंध इस दिन से है I

अंग्रेजी कलेंडर की तारीख और अंग्रेज मानसिकता के लोगो के अलावा कुछ नही बदला..

अपना नव संवत् ही नया साल है I

जब ब्रह्माण्ड से लेकर सूर्य चाँद की दिशा, मौसम, फसल, कक्षा, नक्षत्र, पौधों की नई पत्तिया, किसान की नई फसल, विद्यार्थी की नई कक्षा, मनुष्य में नया रक्त संचरण आदि परिवर्तन होते है। जो विज्ञान आधारित है I

अपनी मानसिकता को बदले I विज्ञान आधारित भारतीय काल गणना को पहचाने। स्वयं सोचे की क्यों मनाये हम 1 जनवरी को नया वर्ष..?

बुधवार व्रत कथा: एक समय की बात है एक साहूकार अपनी पत्नी को विदा कराने के लिए अपने ससुराल गया। कुछ दिन वहां रहने के उपरांत उसने सास-ससुर से अपनी पत्नी को विदा करने के लिए कहा किंतु सास-ससुर तथा अन्य संबंधियों ने कहा कि "बेटा आज बुधवार है। बुधवार को किसी भी शुभ कार्य के लिए यात्रा नहीं करते।" लेकिन वह नहीं माना और हठ करके बुधवार के दिन ही पत्नी को विदा करवाकर अपने नगर को चल पड़ा। राह में उसकी पत्नी को प्यास लगी, उसने पति से पीने के लिए पानी मांगा। साहूकार लोटा लेकर गाड़ी से उतरकर जल लेने चला गया। जब वह जल लेकर वापस आया तो वह बुरी तरह हैरान हो उठा, क्यूंकि उसकी पत्नी के पास उसकी ही शक्ल-सूरत का एक दूसरा व्यक्ति बैठा था।
पत्नी भी अपने पति को देखकर हैरान रह गई। वह दोनों में कोई अंतर नहीं कर पाई। साहूकार ने पास बैठे शख्स से पूछा कि तुम कौन हो और मेरी पत्नी के पास क्यों बैठे हो? उसकी बात सुनकर उस व्यक्ति ने कहा- अरे भाई, यह मेरी पत्नी है। मैं अपनी पत्नी को ससुराल से विदा करा कर लाया हूं, लेकिन तुम कौन हो जो मुझसे ऐसा प्रश्न कर रहे हो? दोनों आपस में झगड़ने लगे। तभी राज्य के सिपाही आए और उन्होंने साहूकार को पकड़ लिया और स्त्री से पूछा कि तुम्हारा असली पति कौन है? उसकी पत्नी चुप रही क्यूंकि दोनों को देखकर वह खुद हैरान थी कि वह किसे अपना पति कहे? साहूकार ईश्वर से प्रार्थना करते हुए बोला "हे भगवान, यह क्या लीला है?"
तभी आकाशवाणी हुई कि मूर्ख आज बुधवार के दिन तुझे शुभ कार्य के लिए गमन नहीं करना चाहिए था। तूने हठ में किसी की बात नहीं मानी। यह सब भगवान बुधदेव के प्रकोप से हो रहा है।
साहूकार ने भगवान बुधदेव से प्रार्थना की और अपनी गलती के लिए क्षमा याचना की। तब मनुष्य के रूप में आए बुध देवता अंतर्ध्यान हो गए। वह अपनी स्त्री को घर ले आया। इसके पश्चात पति-पत्नी नियमपूर्वक बुधवार व्रत करने लगे। जो व्यक्ति इस कथा को कहता या सुनता है उसको बुधवार के दिन यात्रा करने का कोई दोष नहीं लगता और उसे सभी प्रकार के सुखों की प्राप्ति होती है।

Buland Darwaza (Hindi: बुलंद दरवाज़ा, Urdu: بُلند دروازه, pronounced [ˈbʊlənd̪ d̪ərˈʋaːzaː]), meaning 'high' or 'great' gate in Persian, is the largest of gateways in the world^{[citation needed]}. It is located in Fatehpur Sikri which is located 43 km away from Agra, India. It is also known as the "Gate of Magnificence". ^[1]

The Buland Darwaza towers above the courtyard of the mosque. The Buland Darwaza is semi octagonal in plan and is topped by pillars and chhatris. Buland Darwaza echoes early Mughal design with simple ornamentation, carved verses from the Qur`an and towering arches. There are thirteen smaller domed kiosks on the roof, stylized battlement and small turrets and inlay work of white and black marble. On the outside a long flight of steps sweeps down the hill giving the gateway additional height. A Persian inscription on eastern archway of the Buland Darwaza records Akbar's conquest over Deccan in 1601 A.D.It is a superb gateway, 40 metres high and 50 metres from the ground. The total height of the Structure is about 54 metres from the ground level.It is the highest gateway in India. It is made up of real sandstone and decorated with beautiful carvings and inlay work in white marble.A verse from the teachings of Jesus Christ was also included in the inscriptions revealing the religious tolerance and broadmindedness of Akbar.It is a 15-storied high gateway that guards the southern entrance of the city of Fatehpur Sikri.

The Buland Darwaza is approached by 42 steps. The Buland Darwaza is 53.63m high and 35 meters wide. Buland Darwaza is the highest gateway in the world and an astounding example of the Mughal architecture. The Buland Darwaza or the magnificence gateway is made of red and buff sandstone, decorated by carving and inlaying of white and black marble. An inscription on the central face of the Buland Darwaza throws light on Akbar's religious broad mindedness.

एक नगर में एक धनी व्यापारी रहता था। दूर-दूर तक उसका व्यापार फैला हुआ था। नगर में उस व्यापारी का सभी लोग मान-सम्मान करते थे। इतना सबकुछ होने पर भी वह व्यापारी बहुत दुखी था क्योंकि उस व्यापारी का कोई पुत्र नहीं था।

दिन-रात उसे एक ही चिंता सताती रहती थी। उसकी मृत्यु के बाद उसके इतने बड़े व्यापार और धन-संपत्ति को कौन संभालेगा।
पुत्र पाने की इच्छा से वह व्यापारी प्रति सोमवार भगवान शिव की व्रत-पूजा किया करता था। सायंकाल को व्यापारी शिव मंदिर में जाकर भगवान शिव के सामने घी का दीपक जलाया करता था।

उस व्यापारी की भक्ति देखकर एक दिन पार्वती ने भगवान शिव से कहा- 'हे प्राणनाथ, यह व्यापारी आपका सच्चा भक्त है। कितने दिनों से यह सोमवार का व्रत और पूजा नियमित कर रहा है। भगवान, आप इस व्यापारी की मनोकामना अवश्य पूर्ण करें।'

भगवान शिव ने मुस्कराते हुए कहा- 'हे पार्वती! इस संसार में सबको उसके कर्म के अनुसार फल की प्राप्ति होती है। प्राणी जैसा कर्म करते हैं, उन्हें वैसा ही फल प्राप्त होता है।'

इसके बावजूद पार्वतीजी नहीं मानीं। उन्होंने आग्रह करते हुए कहा- 'नहीं प्राणनाथ! आपको इस व्यापारी की इच्छा पूरी करनी ही पड़ेगी। यह आपका अनन्य भक्त है। प्रति सोमवार आपका विधिवत व्रत रखता है और पूजा-अर्चना के बाद आपको भोग लगाकर एक समय भोजन ग्रहण करता है। आपको इसे पुत्र-प्राप्ति का वरदान देना ही होगा।'

पार्वती का इतना आग्रह देखकर भगवान शिव ने कहा- 'तुम्हारे आग्रह पर मैं इस व्यापारी को पुत्र-प्राप्ति का वरदान देता हूँ। लेकिन इसका पुत्र १६ वर्ष से अधिक जीवित नहीं रहेगा।'

उसी रात भगवान शिव ने स्वप्न में उस व्यापारी को दर्शन देकर उसे पुत्र-प्राप्ति का वरदान दिया और उसके पुत्र के १६ वर्ष तक जीवित रहने की बात भी बताई।

भगवान के वरदान से व्यापारी को खुशी तो हुई, लेकिन पुत्र की अल्पायु की चिंता ने उस खुशी को नष्ट कर दिया। व्यापारी पहले की तरह सोमवार का विधिवत व्रत करता रहा। कुछ महीने पश्चात उसके घर अति सुंदर पुत्र उत्पन्न हुआ। पुत्र जन्म से व्यापारी के घर में खुशियाँ भर गईं। बहुत धूमधाम से पुत्र-जन्म का समारोह मनाया गया। व्यापारी को पुत्र-जन्म की अधिक खुशी नहीं हुई क्योंकि उसे पुत्र की अल्प आयु के रहस्य का पता था। यह रहस्य घर में किसी को नहीं मालूम था।

जब पुत्र १२ वर्ष का हुआ तो शिक्षा के लिए उसे वाराणसी भेजने का निश्चय हुआ। व्यापारी ने पुत्र के मामा को बुलाया और कहा कि पुत्र को शिक्षा प्राप्त करने के लिए वाराणसी छोड़ आओ। लड़का अपने मामा के साथ शिक्षा प्राप्त करने के लिए चल दिया। रास्ते में जहाँ भी मामा और भांजा रात्रि विश्राम के लिए ठहरते, वहीं यज्ञ करते और ब्राह्मणों को भोजन कराते थे।

लंबी यात्रा के बाद मामा और भांजा एक नगर में पहुँचे। उस नगर के राजा की कन्या के विवाह की खुशी में पूरे नगर को सजाया गया था। निश्चित समय पर बारात आ गई लेकिन वर का पिता अपने बेटे के एक आँख से काने होने के कारण बहुत चिंतित था। उसे इस बात का भय सता रहा था कि राजा को इस बात का पता चलने पर कहीं वह विवाह से इनकार न कर दे। इससे उसकी बदनामी होगी।

वर के पिता ने लडके को देखा तो उसके मस्तिष्क में एक विचार आया। उसने सोचा क्यों न इस लड़के को दूल्हा बनाकर राजकुमारी से विवाह करा दूँ। विवाह के बाद इसको धन देकर विदा कर दूँगा और राजकुमारी को अपने नगर में ले जाऊँगा।

वर के पिता ने इसी संबंध में मामा से बात की। मामा ने धन मिलने के लालच में वर के पिता की बात स्वीकार कर ली। लडके को दूल्हे के वस्त्र पहनाकर राजकुमारी से विवाह करा दिया गया। राजा ने बहुत-सा धन देकर राजकुमारी को विदा किया। लडका जब लौट रहा था तो सच नहीं छिपा सका और उसने राजकुमारी की ओढ़नी पर लिख दिया- 'राजकुमारी, तुम्हारा विवाह तो मेरे साथ हुआ था, मैं तो वाराणसी में शिक्षा प्राप्त करने जा रहा हूँ। अब तुम्हें जिस नवयुवक की पत्नी बनना पड़ेगा, वह काना है।'

जब राजकुमारी ने अपनी ओढ़नी पर लिखा हुआ पढ़ा तो उसने काने लड़के के साथ जाने से इनकार कर दिया। राजा ने सब बातें जानकर राजकुमारी को महल में रख लिया। उधर लडका अपने मामा के साथ वाराणसी पहुँच गया। गुरुकुल में पढ़ना शुरू कर दिया। जब उसकी आयु १६ वर्ष पूरी हुई तो उसने एक यज्ञ किया। यज्ञ की समाप्ति पर ब्राह्मणों को भोजन कराया और खूब अन्न, वस्त्र दान किए। रात को अपने शयनकक्ष में सो गया। शिव के वरदान के अनुसार शयनावस्था में ही उसके प्राण-पखेरू उड़ गए। सूर्योदय पर मामा भांजे को मृत देखकर रोने-पीटने लगा। आसपास के लोग भी एकत्र होकर दुःख प्रकट करने लगे।

मामा के रोने, विलाप करने के स्वर समीप से गुजरते हुए भगवान शिव और माता पार्वती ने भी सुने। पार्वतीजी ने भगवान से कहा- 'प्राणनाथ! मुझसे इसके रोने के स्वर सहन नहीं हो रहे। आप इस व्यक्ति के कष्ट अवश्य दूर करें।'

भगवान शिव ने पार्वतीजी के साथ अदृश्य रूप में समीप जाकर देखा तो पार्वतीजी से बोले- 'पार्वती! यह तो उसी व्यापारी का पुत्र है। मैंने इसे १६ वर्ष की आयु का वरदान दिया था। इसकी आयु तो पूरी हो गई।'

पार्वतीजी ने फिर भगवान शिव से निवेदन किया- 'हे प्राणनाथ! आप इस लड़के को जीवित करें। नहीं तो इसके माता-पिता पुत्र की मृत्यु के कारण रो-रोकर अपने प्राणों का त्याग कर देंगे। इस लड़के का पिता तो आपका परम भक्त है। वर्षों से सोमवार का व्रत करते हुए आपको भोग लगा रहा है।' पार्वती के आग्रह करने पर भगवान शिव ने उस लड़के को जीवित होने का वरदान दिया और कुछ ही पल में वह जीवित होकर उठ बैठा।

शिक्षा समाप्त करके लडका मामा के साथ अपने नगर की ओर चल दिया। दोनों चलते हुए उसी नगर में पहुँचे, जहाँ उसका विवाह हुआ था। उस नगर में भी यज्ञ का आयोजन किया। समीप से गुजरते हुए नगर के राजा ने यज्ञ का आयोजन देखा।

राजा ने उसको तुरंत पहचान लिया। यज्ञ समाप्त होने पर राजा मामा भांजा को महल में ले गया और कुछ दिन उन्हें महल में रखकर बहुत-सा धन, वस्त्र देकर राजकुमारी के साथ विदा किया।

रास्ते में सुरक्षा के लिए राजा ने बहुत से सैनिकों को भी साथ भेजा। नगर में पहुँचते ही एक दूत को घर भेजकर अपने आगमन की सूचना भेजी। अपने बेटे के जीवित वापस लौटने की सूचना से व्यापारी बहुत प्रसन्न हुआ।

भूखे-प्यासे रहकर व्यापारी और उसकी पत्नी बेटे की प्रतीक्षा कर रहे थे। उन्होंने प्रतिज्ञा कर रखी थी कि यदि उन्हें अपने बेटे की मृत्यु का समाचार मिला तो दोनों अपने प्राण त्याग देंगे।

व्यापारी अपनी पत्नी और मित्रों के साथ नगर के द्वार पर पहुँचा। अपने बेटे के विवाह का समाचार सुनकर, पुत्रवधू राजकुमारी को देखकर उसकी खुशी का ठिकाना न रहा। उसी रात भगवान शिव ने व्यापारी के स्वप्न में आकर कहा- 'हे श्रेष्ठी ! मैंने तेरे सोमवार के व्रत करने और व्रतकथा सुनने से प्रसन्न होकर तेरे पुत्र को लंबी आयु प्रदान की है।' व्यापारी बहुत प्रसन्न हुआ।

सोमवार का व्रत करने से व्यापारी के घर में खुशियाँ लौट आईं। शास्त्रों में लिखा है कि जो स्त्री-पुरुष सोमवार का विधिवत व्रत करते और व्रतकथा सुनते हैं उनकी सभी इच्छाएँ पूरी होती हैं।

किसी व्यक्ति वस्तु, स्थान, देश आदि को जानने और सरलता से उसे पहचानने हेतु प्राचीन काल से उसके नामकरण की प्रथा रही है। जिसका उल्लेख वेद पुराणों में मिलता है। रामायण काल में भी नाम रखने का उल्लेख इस चौपाई से मिलता हैः-

नामकरन कर अवसरू जानी। भूप बोलि पठए मुनि ग्यानी॥

अर्थात्‌ जब महाराज दशरथ जी के यहाँ यज्ञादि प्रयासों द्वारा साक्षात्‌ श्री हरि ने नर अवतार धारण किया तब वह नामकरण के लिए गुरु को बुलावा भेजते हैं। बड़े ही सोच-विचार कर ग्रहादि स्थिति को समझ कर महर्षि वशिष्ठ जी ने चारों भाइयों का नाम रखा। जिसमें बड़े भाई का नाम इस चौपाई द्वारा व्यक्त किया गया है।

अर्थात्‌ जब महाराज दशरथ जी के यहाँ यज्ञादि प्रयासों द्वारा साक्षात्‌ श्री हरि ने नर अवतार धारण किया तब वह नामकरण के लिए गुरु को बुलावा भेजते हैं। बड़े ही सोच-विचार कर ग्रहादि स्थिति को समझ कर महर्षि वशिष्ठ जी ने चारों भाइयों का नाम रखा। जिसमें बड़े भाई का नाम इस चौपाई द्वारा व्यक्त किया गया है।

एक समय स्वर्गलोक में 'सबसे बड़ा कौन?' के प्रश्न पर नौ ग्रहों में वाद-विवाद हो गया। विवाद इतना बढ़ा कि परस्पर भयंकर युद्ध की स्थिति बन गई। निर्णय के लिए सभी देवता देवराज इंद्र के पास पहुँचे और बोले- 'हे देवराज! आपको निर्णय करना होगा कि हममें से सबसे बड़ा कौन है?' देवताओं का प्रश्न सुनकर देवराज इंद्र उलझन में पड़ गए।
इंद्र बोले- 'मैं इस प्रश्न का उत्तर देने में असमर्थ हूँ। हम सभी पृथ्वीलोक में उज्जयिनी नगरी में राजा विक्रमादित्य के पास चलते हैं।
देवराज इंद्र सहित सभी ग्रह (देवता) उज्जयिनी नगरी पहुँचे। महल में पहुँचकर जब देवताओं ने उनसे अपना प्रश्न पूछा तो राजा विक्रमादित्य भी कुछ देर के लिए परेशान हो उठे क्योंकि सभी देवता अपनी-अपनी शक्तियों के कारण महान थे। किसी को भी छोटा या बड़ा कह देने से उनके क्रोध के प्रकोप से भयंकर हानि पहुँच सकती थी।
अचानक राजा विक्रमादित्य को एक उपाय सूझा और उन्होंने विभिन्न धातुओं- स्वर्ण, रजत (चाँदी), कांसा, ताम्र (तांबा), सीसा, रांगा, जस्ता, अभ्रक व लोहे के नौ आसन बनवाए। धातुओं के गुणों के अनुसार सभी आसनों को एक-दूसरे के पीछे रखवाकर उन्होंने देवताओं को अपने-अपने सिंहासन पर बैठने को कहा।
देवताओं के बैठने के बाद राजा विक्रमादित्य ने कहा- 'आपका निर्णय तो स्वयं हो गया। जो सबसे पहले सिंहासन पर विराजमान है, वहीं सबसे बड़ा है।'
राजा विक्रमादित्य के निर्णय को सुनकर शनि देवता ने सबसे पीछे आसन पर बैठने के कारण अपने को छोटा जानकर क्रोधित होकर कहा- 'राजा विक्रमादित्य! तुमने मुझे सबसे पीछे बैठाकर मेरा अपमान किया है। तुम मेरी शक्तियों से परिचित नहीं हो। मैं तुम्हारा सर्वनाश कर दूँगा।'
शनि ने कहा- 'सूर्य एक राशि पर एक महीने, चंद्रमा सवा दो दिन, मंगल डेढ़ महीने, बुध और शुक्र एक महीने, वृहस्पति तेरह महीने रहते हैं, लेकिन मैं किसी राशि पर साढ़े सात वर्ष (साढ़े साती) तक रहता हूँ। बड़े-बड़े देवताओं को मैंने अपने प्रकोप से पीड़ित किया है।
राम को साढ़े साती के कारण ही वन में जाकर रहना पड़ा और रावण को साढ़े साती के कारण ही युद्ध में मृत्यु का शिकार बनना पड़ा। राजा! अब तू भी मेरे प्रकोप से नहीं बच सकेगा।'
इसके बाद अन्य ग्रहों के देवता तो प्रसन्नता के साथ चले गए, परंतु शनिदेव बड़े क्रोध के साथ वहाँ से विदा हुए।
राजा विक्रमादित्य पहले की तरह ही न्याय करते रहे। उनके राज्य में सभी स्त्री-पुरुष बहुत आनंद से जीवन-यापन कर रहे थे। कुछ दिन ऐसे ही बीत गए। उधर शनि देवता अपने अपमान को भूले नहीं थे।
विक्रमादित्य से बदला लेने के लिए एक दिन शनिदेव ने घोड़े के व्यापारी का रूप धारण किया और बहुत से घोड़ों के साथ उज्जयिनी नगरी पहुँचे। राजा विक्रमादित्य ने राज्य में किसी घोड़े के व्यापारी के आने का समाचार सुना तो अपने अश्वपाल को कुछ घोड़े खरीदने के लिए भेजा।.
घोड़े बहुत कीमती थे। अश्वपाल ने जब वापस लौटकर इस संबंध में बताया तो राजा विक्रमादित्य ने स्वयं आकर एक सुंदर व शक्तिशाली घोड़े को पसंद किया।
घोड़े की चाल देखने के लिए राजा उस घोड़े पर सवार हुए तो वह घोड़ा बिजली की गति से दौड़ पड़ा।
तेजी से दौड़ता घोड़ा राजा को दूर एक जंगल में ले गया और फिर राजा को वहाँ गिराकर जंगल में कहीं गायब हो गया। राजा अपने नगर को लौटने के लिए जंगल में भटकने लगा। लेकिन उन्हें लौटने का कोई रास्ता नहीं मिला। राजा को भूख-प्यास लग आई। बहुत घूमने पर उसे एक चरवाहा मिला।
राजा ने उससे पानी माँगा। पानी पीकर राजा ने उस चरवाहे को अपनी अँगूठी दे दी। फिर उससे रास्ता पूछकर वह जंगल से निकलकर पास के नगर में पहुँचा।
राजा ने एक सेठ की दुकान पर बैठकर कुछ देर आराम किया। उस सेठ ने राजा से बातचीत की तो राजा ने उसे बताया कि मैं उज्जयिनी नगरी से आया हूँ। राजा के कुछ देर दुकान पर बैठने से सेठजी की बहुत बिक्री हुई।
सेठ ने राजा को बहुत भाग्यवान समझा और खुश होकर उसे अपने घर भोजन के लिए ले गया। सेठ के घर में सोने का एक हार खूँटी पर लटका हुआ था। राजा को उस कमरे में छोड़कर सेठ कुछ देर के लिए बाहर गया।
तभी एक आश्चर्यजनक घटना घटी। राजा के देखते-देखते सोने के उस हार को खूँटी निगल गई।
सेठ ने कमरे में लौटकर हार को गायब देखा तो चोरी का संदेह राजा पर ही किया क्योंकि उस कमरे में राजा ही अकेला बैठा था। सेठ ने अपने नौकरों से कहा कि इस परदेसी को रस्सियों से बाँधकर नगर के राजा के पास ले चलो। राजा ने विक्रमादित्य से हार के बारे में पूछा तो उसने बताया कि उसके देखते ही देखते खूँटी ने हार को निगल लिया था। इस पर राजा ने क्रोधित होकर चोरी करने के अपराध में विक्रमादित्य के हाथ-पाँव काटने का आदेश दे दिया। राजा विक्रमादित्य के हाथ-पाँव काटकर उसे नगर की सड़क पर छोड़ दिया गया।
कुछ दिन बाद एक तेली उसे उठाकर अपने घर ले गया और उसे अपने कोल्हू पर बैठा दिया। राजा आवाज देकर बैलों को हाँकता रहता। इस तरह तेली का बैल चलता रहा और राजा को भोजन मिलता रहा। शनि के प्रकोप की साढ़े साती पूरी होने पर वर्षा ऋतु प्रारंभ हुई।
राजा विक्रमादित्य एक रात मेघ मल्हार गा रहा था कि तभी नगर के राजा की लड़की राजकुमारी मोहिनी रथ पर सवार उस तेली के घर के पास से गुजरी। उसने मेघ मल्हार सुना तो उसे बहुत अच्छा लगा और दासी को भेजकर गाने वाले को बुला लाने को कहा।
दासी ने लौटकर राजकुमारी को अपंग राजा के बारे में सब कुछ बता दिया। राजकुमारी उसके मेघ मल्हार से बहुत मोहित हुई। अतः उसने सब कुछ जानकर भी अपंग राजा से विवाह करने का निश्चय कर लिया।
राजकुमारी ने अपने माता-पिता से जब यह बात कही तो वे हैरान रह गए। रानी ने मोहिनी को समझाया- 'बेटी! तेरे भाग्य में तो किसी राजा की रानी होना लिखा है। फिर तू उस अपंग से विवाह करके अपने पाँव पर कुल्हाड़ी क्यों मार रही है?'
राजकुमारी ने अपनी जिद नहीं छोड़ी। अपनी जिद पूरी कराने के लिए उसने भोजन करना छोड़ दिया और प्राण त्याग देने का निश्चय कर लिया।
आखिर राजा-रानी को विवश होकर अपंग विक्रमादित्य से राजकुमारी का विवाह करना पड़ा। विवाह के बाद राजा विक्रमादित्य और राजकुमारी तेली के घर में रहने लगे। उसी रात स्वप्न में शनिदेव ने राजा से कहा- 'राजा तुमने मेरा प्रकोप देख लिया।
मैंने तुम्हें अपने अपमान का दंड दिया है।' राजा ने शनिदेव से क्षमा करने को कहा और प्रार्थना की- 'हे शनिदेव! आपने जितना दुःख मुझे दिया है, अन्य किसी को न देना।'
शनिदेव ने कुछ सोचकर कहा- 'राजा! मैं तुम्हारी प्रार्थना स्वीकार करता हूँ। जो कोई स्त्री-पुरुष मेरी पूजा करेगा, शनिवार को व्रत करके मेरी व्रतकथा सुनेगा, उस पर मेरी अनुकम्पा बनी रहेगी।
प्रातःकाल राजा विक्रमादित्य की नींद खुली तो अपने हाथ-पाँव देखकर राजा को बहुत खुशी हुई। उसने मन ही मन शनिदेव को प्रणाम किया। राजकुमारी भी राजा के हाथ-पाँव सही-सलामत देखकर आश्चर्य में डूब गई।
तब राजा विक्रमादित्य ने अपना परिचय देते हुए शनिदेव के प्रकोप की सारी कहानी सुनाई।
सेठ को जब इस बात का पता चला तो दौड़ता हुआ तेली के घर पहुँचा और राजा के चरणों में गिरकर क्षमा माँगने लगा। राजा ने उसे क्षमा कर दिया क्योंकि यह सब तो शनिदेव के प्रकोप के कारण हुआ था।
सेठ राजा को अपने घर ले गया और उसे भोजन कराया। भोजन करते समय वहाँ एक आश्चर्यजनक घटना घटी। सबके देखते-देखते उस खूँटी ने हार उगल दिया। सेठजी ने अपनी बेटी का विवाह भी राजा के साथ कर दिया और बहुत से स्वर्ण-आभूषण, धन आदि देकर राजा को विदा किया।
राजा विक्रमादित्य राजकुमारी मोहिनी और सेठ की बेटी के साथ उज्जयिनी पहुँचे तो नगरवासियों ने हर्ष से उनका स्वागत किया। अगले दिन राजा विक्रमादित्य ने पूरे राज्य में घोषणा कराई कि शनिदेव सब देवों में सर्वश्रेष्ठ हैं। प्रत्येक स्त्री-पुरुष शनिवार को उनका व्रत करें और व्रतकथा अवश्य सुनें।
राजा विक्रमादित्य की घोषणा से शनिदेव बहुत प्रसन्न हुए। शनिवार का व्रत करने और व्रत कथा सुनने के कारण सभी लोगों की मनोकामनाएँ शनिदेव की अनुकम्पा से पूरी होने लगीं। सभी लोग आनंदपूर्वक रहने लगे।
