I did this in iMovie and kicked it out for iPods, so if the video doesn't work for ya, not much I can do. I know crap about videos (as you will soon see ...)

First of all, wishing the best on this Memorial Day to any of you who have lost a loved one in the service.

A big triple-whammy hit home this week to delay the episode. First, I was the Toastmaster at the BayCon scifi convention in Santa Clara, CA. Good times! I introduced myself as "the toastiest thing this side of a Denny's breakfast bar," and the good times just rolled from there. I can say with a straight face that I had a few beverages at a Klingon party, then stood in the hall I designated as "the tough part of the hotel" and screamed "just keep on walkin'!" to the people in bad fairy costumes, then finished the night with a live performance of the Rocky Horror Picture Show by "Barely Legal." Two in the morning comes with a price tag, my friends.

BayCon occupied me through Monday night. Second part of the double-whammy? NOCTURNAL Episode #28 looks like it will be over an hour of pure story. I've been recording and editing all friggin' day. Seven hours straight.

The third wammy? I have a tight deadine for the first draft of CONTAGIOUS and have to write that at night, no exceptions. When I don't have a NOCTURNAL episode due, I'll be writing CONTAGIOUS all day.

So, NOCTURNAL Episode #28 will post on Wednesday, May 27.

OBSIDIAN: I hate Hutchinsss ...

Now you guys know that I am at war with J.C. Hutchins. Actually, we have a truce at the moment while I deal with Julie Andrew's attack on Siglerism. So that baby-faced bastard had the audacity to take advantage of this Andrews-induced detente and asked me to do a story for his OBSIDIAN/7th SON project. At first, I said "no." Actually, what I said was "you go fuck yourself, J.C. Hutchinsss!" Then, Pope Siglericus piped up with a thought -- the best way to hurt someone is to take what they love most. So, I agreed to provide Hutchinsss with an OBSIDIAN short story in order to steal the spotlight from his whole project. I wrote a real hum-dinger, too. Now you guys know that I would never brag, but this is some of the best short fiction I've written yet. Actually, it's like 9,000 words, so it's a novella.

Now I'm not the only guy helping out with this. Do the names Lafferty, Morris, Nemcoff, Stackpole, and the nipple-pierced felch-monster known as Matt Wallace ring any bells? Enough talk: >click here to learn more about OBSIDIAN.

Russian gangster Pavil "Fat Boy" Rockmanov was wounded in the gunfight between Dmitri Vasillof and Frank Lanza. Pavil needs medical attention, but will that lead to trouble for Gennady Ivanovich, Vassilof's right-hand man?

John "Black Mister Burns" Smith finishes his report on the historical murder rate of San Francisco, and delivers that report to Pookie Chang -- hint, the news is not good.

Margaret and Amos finish up with the dissolving remains of Martin Brewbaker. They also discover a phenomenon with symptoms quite similar to what killed Brewbaker, a condition known a Morgellons Disease. As Perry Dawsey lies passed out on his bathroom floor, the parasites spread farther into his body. The adventure is over for one character, as Dew Phillips deals with the loss of his partner.

Aggie got out of the tunnels, but what's up with his head? What's up with the baby? Bryan and Pookie finally meet Aggie, and discover a major clue in the story of Marie's Children. Meanwhile, the chickens are coming home to roost for Sean Robertson, who has to have a sit-down with a very pissed-off Frank Lanza. Dew Phillips thinks back to the meeting that drew him into the hunt for the infected. The meeting takes place with Murray Stapleton, the Deputy Director of CIA, and a man Dew fought with in Viet Nam. While Dew remains on the hunt for a live victim, the very much alive Perry Dawsey goes to war with his own body -- and the results prove to be disastrous.

I've mapped out NOCTURNAL through the final episode which will be Episode #30. Getting all the plot threads to properly connect takes a little bit of work, so no episode this week.
