The Brahmin and the Butcher

"Life is like this " reminds me of Suresh Chandrasekran (http://jambudweepam.blogspot.in/), who for quite some time I could relate only with good humor until he wrote his first guest post for me which gave me an insight of a philosophical brain that he is. Suresh Chandrasekrans astounding ability to write from anything and about everything not only amazes me but also has made me an ardent fan of him It has always been a pleasure to have him as a guest on my blog and I must thank him for sharing this beautiful,long forgotten story from Vyada Geeta with all of us.

The story , in Swami Vivekananda words – represents the “highest flights of the Vedanta” – and the lessons in this story are some of the most brilliant and profound. It is very unfortunate that existence of such a beautiful story has never been a topic of most lectures and discussions in popular Hinduism. And Thank you Suresh for sharing this wonderful story

"No duty is ugly, no duty is impure it is only the way in which the work is done, that determines its worth. "

A Brahmin was engaged in austerities in the forest. He was disturbed by the falling of a crane’s droppings on him. Enraged, he glared up at the crane and, by the power of his austerities, the crane dropped dead.

Proud though he was in the powers that his austerities had given him, he was saddened by the fact that his inability to control his anger had caused the death of the crane. He was musing about his shortcomings as he entered the nearby town, to beg for alms as befitted a renunciate, who had given up possessing worldly goods.

At the household where he stood for alms, the lady of the house requested him to wait as she was busy looking after her sick husband. The wait was too prolonged and the Brahmin lost his temper again. When the lady at last came out, he glared at her in anger and berated her for her negligence of a Brahmin sage.

The lady laughed and said, “I am no crane, Brahmin!”

The Brahmin was astounded. How did this ordinary housewife know of what befell him in the forest when such ability to know things from afar was only given to the enlightened sages? Humbled by the thought of being in the presence of a noble soul, the Brahmin beseeched her to teach him the path to enlightenment.

The lady said, “Anyone who does her duty, thinking of it as an offering to God and without any thought of personal benefit, attains enlightenment, O Brahmin! If you want to be set on the path to enlightenment, approach the butcher at Mithila and he shall guide you.”

The Brahmin wended his way to Mithila, wondering all the while about how a lowly butcher could be so enlightened as to guide him – a Brahmin. When he saw the butcher at his shop, heartlessly killing and cutting the meat of goats, he was even more aghast. His quest for enlightenment was a burning fire in him, however, and he told the butcher about the lady who had directed him and requested his guidance.

The butcher said, “Satya and Ahimsa are the way to enlightenment. He, who does his duty, with no thought in his mind but that of the greatest good that he can bring about, given his station in life, is true and non-violent. Violence lies in the mind, when it seeks to do injury, and not in the action. Truth lies in the heart – if the motives be pure, the action in in consonance with Satya.”

“How is it that you, a butcher, are more enlightened than me – a Bahmin?”

“What Society calls a Brahmin is one thing. What the divine teachings call a Brahmin is another. One does not become a Brahmin by birth; only by his thoughts and actions. He, who seeks to serve without any THOUGHT of recompense; he, who is never angered, even when he fearlessly fights injustice; he, who has no ego and only works for the enlightenment of all – only such a person can be called a Brahmin, regardless of where he took his birth.”

The idea, therefore, of teaching being the sole province of Brahmins is NOT that education is to be denied to the others BUT that education ought to be disseminated with the mind-set of a Brahmin – freely to all and not to only those who can afford it.

The VyadaGeeta is also a clear indication that the caste system was a division of people based on their natures and NOT based on birth. Else, how could a Brahmin by birth learn from a butcher?

The reclusive Uttang Rishi stayed the forests for most of his life with little contact with the rest of the world. It was during one such long stay away from civilization that the war between the rift between the Pandavas and Kauravas ripened to enmity and ended in the calamitous war at Kurukshetra that resulted in the decimation of all the Kauravas.

On one of his peregrinations in the forest, Uttang Rishi met Krishna. As was the custom in those days, Uttang asked Krishna of the well-being of his family and, then, sought to know about Krishna’s relatives – the Pandavas and Kauravas. Krishna had the unpleasant task of explaining to the Rishi about the dreadful war between the two.

Uttang was enraged and said, “Krishna! You are the Lord of the universe and quite capable of stopping this destruction from happening. Yet, you allowed such disastrous violence. I, herewith, curse you…”

Krishna interrupted the powerful Rishi and said, “Even the Lord of the Universe may not tamper with destiny, once it is written, O sage, or else the very basis of all order shall be disturbed. Know you that this incarnation of mine was intended to destroy evil and the Kauravas, because of their thirst for power, were part of the evil that I sought to destroy.”

Uttang was pacified.

Krishna said, “I wish to grant you a boon, O most righteous sage! What would you ask of me?”

Uttang said, “I need nothing, Lord! The only thing that I, perhaps, may seek is that I may not lack for water wherever I am, since I travel in wild and inaccessible places.”

“Granted!”

After some time, while Uttang Rishi was traveling in the forest, he was afflicted by thirst and could not find any water to drink. He remembered the boon of Krishna and besought water. Whereupon a huntsman accosted him and offered him water from his deerskin container.

Uttang was aghast. How could he, a Brahmin, take water from this low-caste huntsman? Thrice the huntsman offered water and thrice the Rishi refused. The huntsman disappeared.

Uttang was surprised by this miraculous disappearance of the huntsman. Clearly, he could not really be a huntsman but some divinity sent by Krishna as a test. Uttang felt dejected about the possibility of having failed the Lord, when Krishna appeared before him.

Uttang complained, ”Lord! You promised me water whenever I needed it. How could you send it in the hands of a huntsman?”

Krishna laughed and said, “O Sage! I asked Indra to give you divine nectar and make you immortal. Indra refused saying that Amrit was not for normal human beings. I said that you were a realised soul and deserving of immortality. Indra then said that if you truly were a realised soul, you would know that all differentiation between people were only the creation of mortals; that all people were the same in the eyes of a realised soul and, thus, if you accepted the nectar from Indra in the guise of s huntsman, you would deserve it. I agreed. You let me down!”

The great epic, thus, does not support differential treatment on the basis of caste. True, the social order of the times did differentiate between people but the epic clearly states that such differentiation is not the divine order of things but only man-made

There is a beautiful story in the Mahabharata. After the Kurukshetra war, Yudhishtira conducts an AswamedhYagnaat the end of which he holds a grand feast and distributes wealth. Everyone is all praise for his generosity and the grandeur of the feast. A half-golden mongoose comes in and rolls in the left-overs and, then, bewails that the acts of charity and hospitality were less than nothing compared to the one he had seen. The incensed Pandavas ask the mongoose about what he considered the best. In reply to which he tells this tale.

There was a Brahmin who lived with his wife, son and daughter-in-law in the area of Kurukshetra. He adhered to the dharma of living only off his daily alms (UncchaVritthi). Due to a severe famine in the area he was unable to find alms for a few days. Then, one day, he got a handful of barley to feed his entire family. Just as the family was about to sit for their poor meal, a hungry stranger landed at their home as a guest. To feed the guest, the Brahmin sacrificed his portion. The guest still looked on hungrily and was offered the Brahmin’s wife’s portion as well. Still unsatiated, he was then offered the son’s portion and, then, the daughter-in-law’s portion as well. The satisfied guest then revealed himself to be the Lord of Dharma and said, “I am pleased by your unstinting adherence to your dharma. You are freed from the unending cycle of births.”

The mongoose continued, “Such was the magnificence of their sacrifice, that the small quantity of barley powder that had spilled around turned half my body to gold. In vain have I been going from sacrifice to sacrifice, hoping to turn my body fully golden but, alas, not even your sacrifice has matched up to the sacrifice of that Brahmin family.” The mongoose was the Lord of Dharma who had come down to keep his son, Yudhishtir from treading the path of arrogance.

To assume that the story is only about the fact that the extent of sacrifice is all about how much you deprive yourself of and not merely one of how much you give is to get but half the point. The point of the story is also about the fact that the Brahmin family had set its values well above their own needs to survive. If it were not that unswerving adherence to their dharma was so solidly set in their minds, it would not have been possible for them to hand over the last bit of food that was keeping them from starvation.

Virtue or sin does not lie in what you do. It lies in WHY you do what you do and THAT is all in the mind. We think of Bhishma and Karna as virtuous, even though they fought on the side of Duryodhan. It was not what they did but the reason why they did it that makes them virtuous. To be truthful, with an intent to use the truth to hurt someone, is no virtue and to lie, with the sole intent of saving lives, is no sin.

To adjudge another person’s virtue from his thoughts are not possible for you and, therefore, Social norms are all set based on action and not based on motives – though, where motives can be assessed from the WAY the actions are carried out, laws do treat people differently. THAT fact does not mean that we can absolve ourselves of sin based on our actions – we do know our motives and, if the motive is wrong, the act is sinful.

As with happiness, Sin and Virtue are also based on what is in the mind.

The disappearance of flight no MH730 left me intrigued and left me wonder whether the stargates really exist ?Well , it was on day 7 after the flight disappeared and no debris found I felt that it has been swallowed by a travel portal. Not only that I have been watching each and every episode of " Ancient Alien Mysteries " but also I never could believe in " Evolution Theories " I always felt there is a missing link and strongly believed in " there is something more to it " But this programme on Discover Channel has answered my unanswerd questions those intrigued my mind for several years. Even if we go by the history , nearly every ancient civilization refers to a place called the "underworld" and a place called the heavens, both of which appear to be more than simply metaphors for the planets and stars rising and setting into and over the horizon. According to ancient Hindus and some of the Buddhists " the only way to access the upper levels of heaven was via Mt. Meru (also called Mt. Sumeru), which wasn't an actual mountain but a reference to a ziggurat in ancient Sumer (this is the pivotal point. The ancient egyptians also believed in an entrance to the underworld and a boat which travelled on heavenly waters (et.al, a mode of transportation) which carried them into the heavens. The ancient Sumerians referred to otherworldly places which were accessed via gateways into the underworld, and gates up to the heavens.

I strongly believe the Govt. of various countries involved in the search of MH 730 are aware of the cause of its disappearance yet continue to search till the time the memories fade with the time.I will not be surprised if MH 730 becomes another secret like US military base Area 51

A new age according to Mahabharta

"Creatures would come into existence again, beginning with the Brahmanas. When that age will pass away, creation will again increase. Providence will again be propitious at will. When the sun, the moon, and Brihaspati enter the constellation of Pushya, the clouds will incessantly shower rains, and (positions of the ) stars and planets will be auspicious. The planets, duly revolving in their orbits, will be greatly propitious. Abundance, prosperity, wealth, and peace will be everywhere."The Mahabharata (Vana Parva, 190.89-92)

According to Mahabahrata "Impelled by time, a Brahmana named Kalki Vishnuyasha will be born towards the end of Kali Yuga. He will possess great energy, intelligence and prowess. He will be born at a village called Shambhala in a blessed Brahmana family. As soon as thought of, vehicles, weapons, warriors, and arms and armors will all be at his command. He will be the imperial sovereign, ever victorious by the strength of his virtue. He will restore order and peace in this world, overcrowded with creatures and contradictory in its laws. That effulgent and greatly intelligent Brahmana will destroy all things. He will be the destroyer of all and He will be the maker of a new Yuga (Satya-Yuga). That twice-born one surrounded by the Brahmanas, will exterminate all the low and despicable mlecchas wherever they will be found."
And when the Satya-yuga returns the balance or Dharma will be restored, as re-established by Kalki, the planet will begin to heal and rejuvenate itself. Those creatures that were once extinct due to the pollution and imbalance caused by humanity will appear again. The sacred rivers of the Ganga and Yamuna and others also reappear. The planet creates what it needs again, and after years of drought and famine the clouds will supply rain again. Everywhere there will be peace and bountifulness.

The Mahabharata also states when Satya-yuga or Krita-yuga begins again: "O descendant of Bharata, when at the appearance of the Krita Yuga, sin will thus be completely destroyed and virtue will flourish, men will again be engaged in religious rites. Well-planted gardens, sacrificial grounds, large tanks, Vedic schools and colleges, ponds and temples, will (all) reappear everywhere; various sacrifices will also begin to be performed at the appearance of the Krita age. Brahmanas will be honest and good. Being devoted to asceticism, they will be Rishis
(and wise sages)The hermitages occupied by the wicked wretches will once more be the homes of men devoted to Truth. Men in general will begin to honor and practice Truth. All seeds sown on earth will grow. O king of kings, every kind of crop will grow in every season. Men will devotedly practice charity, vows, and religious rites. The Brahmanas, devoted to meditation and sacrifices
(vedc rituals), will be of virtuous soul and cheerful disposition. The kings will virtuously govern the earth. In the Krita Yuga, the Vaishyas will devote themselves to trade, the Brahmans will be devoted to their six duties and the Kshatriyas will be devoted to the display of prowess
(for the protection of the citizens)The Shudras will be devoted to the service of the other three orders. Such will be the Dharma in Krita, Treta, and Dvapara Yugas.

Hindus believe that human civilization degenerates spiritually during the Kali Yuga, which is referred to as the Dark Age because in it people are as far away as possible from God. Hinduism often symbolically represents morality as a bull. In NewAge the first stage of development, the bull has four legs, but in each age morality is reduced by one quarter. By the age of Kali, morality is reduced to only a quarter of that of the golden age, so that the bull of Dharma has only one leg
.
A discourse by Markandeya in the Mahabharata identifies some of the attributes of Kali Yuga

Towards this period people will become atheists and thieves.And those men, who are devoted to ceremonial rites in honour of the deceased and of the gods, will be avaricious and will also appropriate and enjoy what belongs to others, men will regard their wives as their (only) friends. And men will live on fish and milk, goats and sheep, for cows will be extinct. And towards that period, even they that are always observant of vows will become covetous. And opposed to one another, men will, at such a time, seek one another’s lives; and divested of Yuga, And they will even dig the banks of streams with their spades and sow grains thereon. .
The father will enjoy what belongs to the son; and the son, what belongs to the father. And those things will also be enjoyed by men in such times, and enjoyment of which hath been forbidden in the scriptures.
And the Brahmanas, speaking disrespectfully of the Vedas, will not practise vows, and their understanding clouded by the science of disputation, they will no longer perform sacrifices and the Homa. And deceived by the false science of reasons, they will direct their hearts towards everything mean and low. And men will till low lands for cultivation and employ cows and calves that are one year old, in drawing the plough and carrying burthens. And sons having slain their sire, and sires having slain their sons will incur no opprobrium. And they will frequently save themselves from anxiety by such deeds, and even glory in them.
And the whole world will be filled with Mleccha behaviour and notions and ceremonies and sacrifices will cease and joy will be nowhere and general rejoicing will disappear. And men will rob the possession of helpless persons of those that are friendless and of wisdom also. And, possessed of small energy and strength, without knowledge and given to avarice and folly and sinful practices men will accept with joy the gifts made by wicked people with words of contempt. And, O son of Kunti, the kings of the earth, with hearts wedded to sin without knowledge and always boastful of their wisdom, will challenge one another from desire of taking one another’s life.
And the Kshatriyas also towards the end of such a period will become the thorns of the earth. And filled with avarice and swelling with pride and vanity and unable and unwilling to protect (their subjects), they will take pleasure in inflicting punishments only. And attacking and repeating their attacks upon the good and the honest, and feeling no pity for the latter, even when they will cry in grief, the Kshatriyas will, O Bharata, rob these of their wives and wealth.

Kali Yuga as explained in Mahabharata (part I)

The Mahabharata is one of the two major epics of ancient India, the other being the Ramayana. The epic is part of history.Besides its epic narrative of the Kurukshetra War and the fates of the Kauravas and the Pandavas, the Mahabharata contains much philosophical and devotional material, such as a discussion of the four "goals of life" . The latter are enumerated as right action ,purpose ,pleasure liberation.

"'The reading of Mahâbhârata destroys all sin and produces virtue; so much so, that the pronunciation of a single shloka is sufficient to wipe away much guilt. This Mahâbhârata contains the history of the gods, of the Rishis in heaven and those on earth, of the Gandharvas and the Rákshasas. It also contains the life and actions of the one God, holy, immutable, and true,-who is Krishna, who is the creator and the ruler of this universe; who is seeking the welfare of his creation by means of his incomparable and indestructible power; whose actions are celebrated by all sages; who has bound human beings in a chain, of which one end is life and the other death; on whom the Rishis meditate, and a knowledge of whom imparts unalloyed happiness to their hearts, and for whose gratification and favor all the daily devotions are performed by all worshippers. Following are the excerpts of a conversation between the Yudhishthira( the eldest son of Pandu) and Muni Markandeya

Yudhishthira-     'O thou foremost of all speakers, O Muni of Brigu’s race, that which we have heard from thee about the destruction and re-birth of all things at the end of the Yuga, is, indeed, full of wonder. I am filled with curiosity, however, in respect of what may happen in the Kali age. When morality and virtue will be at an end, what will remain there! What will be prowess of men in that age, what their food, and what their amusements? What will be the period of life at the end of the Yuga? What also is the limit, having attained which the Krita age will begin anew? Tell me all in detail, O Muni, for all that thou narratest is varied and delightful."

Markandeya -- Listen, O monarch, to all that has been seen and heard by me, and to all, O king of kings, that hath been known to me by intuition from the grace of the God of gods! O bull of the Bharata race, listen to me as I narrate the future history of the world during the sinful age. O bull of the Bharata race, in the Krita age, everything was free from deceit and guile and avarice and covetousness; and morality like a bull was among men, with all the four legs complete. In the Treta age sin took away one of these legs and morality had three legs. In the Dwapara, sin and morality are mixed half and half, and accordingly morality is said to have two legs only. In the dark age (of Kali), O thou best of the Bharata race, morality mixed with three parts of sin liveth by the side of men. Accordingly morality then is said to wait on men, with only a fourth part of itself remaining. Know, O Yudhishthira that the period of life, the energy, intellect and the physical strength of men decrease in every Yuga!
Wedded to avarice and wrath and ignorance and lust, men will entertain animosities towards one another, desiring to take one another’s lives.
O Pandava, the Brahmanas (Brahmins ) and Kshatriyas and Vaisyas and Sudras, (in the Kali age) will practise morality and virtue deceitfully and men in general will deceive their fellows by spreading the net of virtue. And men with false reputation of learning will, by their acts, cause Truth to be contracted and concealed. And in consequence of the shortness of their lives, they will not be able to acquire much knowledge. And in consequence of the littleness of their knowledge, they will have no wisdom. And for this, covetousness and avarice will overwhelm them all. And wedded to avarice and wrath and ignorance and lust, men will entertain animosities towards one another, desiring to take one another’s lives.
And Brahmanas and Kshatriyas and Vaisyas with their virtue contracted and divested of asceticism and truth will all be reduced to an equality with the Sudras. And the lowest orders of men will rise to the position of the intermediate ones, and those in intermediate stations will without doubt, descend to the level of the lowest ones. Even such, O Yudhishthira, will become the state of the world at the end of the Yuga.

Space weather officials say the strongest solar storm in more than six years is already bombarding Earth with radiation with more to come"- Google ,and it got me thinking of Dec 2012,the dooms day theories , that has spread in various media describes the end of the world or of human civilization on that date. The Discovery Channel also aired 2012 Apocalypse in 2009, suggesting that massive solar storms, magnetic pole reversal, earthquakes, supervolcanoes, and other drastic natural events may occur in 2012. Author Graham Hancock, in his book Fingerprints of the Gods, interpreted Coe's remarks in Breaking the Maya Code as evidence for the prophecy of a global cataclysm.



Some people have interpreted the galactic alignment  apocalyptically meaning vast devastation , it will somehow  create a combined gravitational effect between the Sun and the super massive black hole at the centre of our galaxy which is known as Sagittarius A*( Sagittarius A is a complex radio source at the centre of our galaxy, the Milky Way. It is located in the sky in the Sagittarius constellation. It is hidden from view at optical wavelengths by large clouds of cosmic dust in the spiral arms of the Milky Way.
It consists of three components, the supernova remnant Sagittarius A East, the spiral structure Sagittarius A West, and a very bright compact radio source at the centre of the spiral, Sagittarius A*. These three overlap: Sagittarius A East is the largest, West appears off-centre within East, and A* is at the centre of West - Wikipedia).thus creating havoc on Earth,. The Sun's apparent path through the zodiac as seen from Earth does not take it near the true galactic centre, but rather several degrees above it. Even if this were not the case, Sagittarius A* is 30,000 light years from Earth, and would have to be more than 6 million times closer to cause any gravitational disruption to Earth's Solar System. However, Jenkins has complained of the fact that a science fiction writer co-authored the documentary, and went on to characterise it as "45 minutes of unabashed doomsday hype and the worst kind of inane sensationalism".

The term "galactic alignment" has been describe as a very different phenomenon proposed by some scientists to explain a pattern in mass extinctions supposedly observed in the fossil record by some who believe in a 2012 doomsday .Hypothetically mass extinctions are not random, but recur every 26 million years and to account for this, it suggests that vertical oscillations made by the Sun as it orbits the galactic centre cause it to regularly pass through the galactic plane. The influence of galatic tide is weaker when the Sun's orbit takes it outside the galactic plane which bisects the galactic disc .  However, when re-entering the galactic disc—as it does every 20–25 million years—it comes under the influence of the far stronger "disc tides", which, according to mathematical models, increase the flux of Oort cloud comets into the inner Solar System by a factor of 4, thus leading to a massive increase in the likelihood of a devastating comet impact. However, this "alignment" takes place over tens of millions of years, and could never be timed to an exact date. Evidence shows that the Sun passed through the plane bisecting the galactic disc only three million years ago and is now moving farther above it.

A third suggested alignment is some sort of planetary conjunction occurring on December 21, 2012. However, there will be no alignment of planets on that date. Multi-planet alignments did occur in both 2000 and 2010, each with no ill result for the Earth. Jupiter is the largest planet in the Solar System; larger than all other planets combined. When Jupiter is near opposition, the Earth experiences less than 1% the gravitational force it feels daily from the Moon.

A date inscription for the Mayan Long Count

There is a strong tradition of "world ages" in Mayan literature, but the record has been distorted, leaving several possibilities open to interpretation. According to the Popol Vuh(the oldest surviving manuscript ), we are living in the fourth world. The Popol Vuh describes the gods first creating three failed worlds, followed by a successful fourth world in which humanity was placed. In the Maya Long Count, the previous world ended after 13 b'ak'tuns, or roughly 5,125 years.The Long Count's "zero date"was set at a point in the past marking the end of the third world and the beginning of the current one, which corresponds to 11 August 3114 BC in the proleptic Gregorian calendar. This means that the fourth world will also have reached the end of its 13th b'ak'tun, or Mayan date on December 21, 2012. In 1957, Mayanist and astronomer Maud Worcester Makemson wrote that "the completion of a Great Period of 13 b'ak'tuns would have been of the utmost significance to the Maya". In 1966, Michael D. Coe wrote in The Maya that "there is a suggestion ... that Armageddon would overtake the degenerate peoples of the world and all creation on the final day of the 13th (b'ak'tun). Thus ... our present universe (would) be annihilated (in December 2012) when the Great Cycle of the Long Count reaches completion."
.It is not certain what significance the classic Maya give to the 13th b'ak'tun. Most classic Maya inscriptions are strictly historical and do not make any prophetic declarations. One item in the Mayan classical corpus, however, there is a mention of the end of the 13th b'ak'tun: Tortuguero Monument 6 , which lies in southernmost Tabasco, Mexico, dates from the 7th century AD and consists of a series of inscriptions mostly in honor of the contemporary ruler Bahlam Ajaw. One inscription, known as Tortuguero Monument 6, is the only inscription known to refer to b'ak'tun 13.
However Scholars from various disciplines have dismissed the idea of cataclysmic events occurring in 2012 so have the o astronomers and other scientis . According to researchers the end of the 13th b'ak'tun would perhaps be a cause for celebration, it did not mark the end of the calendar."There is nothing in the Maya or Aztec or ancient Mesoamerican prophecy to suggest that they prophesied a sudden or major change of any sort in 2012," according to Mayanist scholar Mark Van Stone. "The notion of a "Great Cycle" coming to an end is completely a modern invention." In 1990, Mayanist scholars Linda Schele and David Freidel argued that the Maya "did not conceive this to be the end of creation, as many have suggested." Susan Milbrath, curator of Latin American Art and Archaeology at the Florida Museum of Natural History, stated that "We have no record or knowledge that (the Maya) would think the world would come to an end" in 2012.

The Aquarian Age is known as " the epoch of new knowledge pouring like Holy Water onto the Earth from the Creator " In popular culture it usually refers to the heyday of the hippie and New Age movements in the 1960s and 1970s. The New Age movement is more accurately a phenomenon and yet seen by many as the harbinger of this future changeover of values associated with the arrival or imminent arrival of the Aquarian age. as described in Mahabharata and Bhagvad Gita.

"Two kalpas constitute a day and night of Brahma. A "month of Brahma" is supposed to contain thirty such days (including nights), or 259.2 billion years. According to the Mahabharata, 12 months of Brahma (=360 days) constitute his year, and 100 such years the life cycle of the universe. Fifty years of Brahma are supposed to have elapsed, and we are now in the shvetavaraha-kalpa of the fifty-first; at the end of a Kalpa the world is destroyed "
According to Bhagvad Gita it is understood that material universe is limited.There is a mention of four types of Yugas (ages) Satya ,Treta,Dvapara and Kali..Satya Yuga lasts for 1,728,000 years,Treta 1,296,000,Dvapara 8,64,000 and Kalki,the Yuga we are living in for over past 5000 years lasts for 4,32,000 years . In Kali-yuga vice increases to such a point that at the termination of the yuga the Supreme Lord Himself appears as the Kalki avatāra, vanquishes the demons, saves his devotees, and commences another Satya-yuga. Then the process is set rolling again.These four Yugas ,rotating a thousand times ,comprise one day(this one day is known as Kalpa which consists of a thousand cycles of Yugas ) of Brahma and it takes the same number to comprise one night. Brahma lives one hundred of such years and then dies.(Bhagavad -Gita)

An understanding of Brahman......

As per hindu scriptures Brahman is one supreme universal spirit ,a spirit which is neither male nor female thus considered , gender neutral and is the origin and support of the universe.It is the ultimate essence of material phenomena that can not be seen or heard but whose natures known through ones beliefs of self knowledge Brahman is considered to be the foundation from which material things originate and to which they return after their dissolution. Brahman is infinite Being, infinite Consciousness, and infinite Bliss.Brahman is proclaimed to be the reality behind everything in this universe. So, from the perspective of the Body, Atma (Soul or Self) is Brahman. From the perspective of the World, Brahma (the "Creator" deity)is deemed as the Brahman. From the perspective of Knowledge, Veda is Brahman. So, in one sense whatever we see around is all Brahman. Brahman is hence not an unidimensional aspect. It needs to be viewed and understood from varied perspectives.infinite Bliss. Brahman is the Ultimate Truth, so in comparison to Brahman, every other thing, including the material world, its distinctiveness, the individuality of the living creatures are all untrue.It is Brahman , which is behind everything that exists and can possibly exist. it is beyond human comprehension.As explained inThe Hindu Vedas and Upanishads "Truth is one", and all is Brahman. This explains the Hindu view that "All paths lead to the one Truth, though many sages (and religions) call upon it by different names.

The beginning of new age

There are various theories about world coming to an end 2012 . .A scientist named Zecharia Sitchin states that Nibiru has been involved in a planetary collision sometime in history,destroying a planet known as Tiamat located between Mars and Jupiter and within the solar system. The following event was belived to have created Earh,Moon and the astroid belt. It is strongly belived that Nibiru is expected to collide with earth again in 2012.
According to the Sumerian documents, the meaning of Nibiru means “planet of the crossing”, hence the popular nickname – Planet X. Planet X is a term generally used by scientists and researchers to distinguish an identified planet.

Its birth pangs began some 4.6 billion years ago as rock and ice particles swirling around the young sun collided and merged, snowballing to produce ever larger planetary building blocks. In the turmoil, another body, as big as Mars, struck our planet with the energy of trillions of atomic bombs, enough to melt it all the way through. Those days are long gone, but the processes that turned our planet from a hell to a habitable world are still on view today. Primordial heat left over from the planet's formation still bursts out in volcanic eruptions, spilling lava that exudes gases like the young, cooling Earth. In the planet's harshest environments today, cyanobacteria reign as they have for billions of years. And each time a plant gains a toehold on newly cooled lava, the victory of life over lifeless rock—won so long ago on the young Earth—is affirmed again.

According to Nicholas Campion there are almost 70 dates for the beginning of the Age of Aquarius covering a range of 1500 years. There is a mention of interesting synchronicity that occured in 1962 involving ninteenth century French hoaxer and known American Jeanne Dixon.In 1890;s Gabriel Jogand primarily to agitate superrstitious Catholics ,deliberately devised and publicized a myth that the Antichrist(there is a mention of antichrist in the form of Lord Kali in Hindu mythology as well ,for ref plz see my previous blog was going to be born in 1962.Campion constructed the horoscope computed from Dixon's estimated time and transposed it to Jerusalem and discovered that there had been a Solar Eclipse on the previous day when all of the traditional seven planets were in the sign of Aquarius. This is an interesting possibility for the entrance of the Age of Aquarius, but was not accompanied by an significant world events which would justify such a selection. This is also true persuasively connected with any major world events which would justify their claims. However, it could be reasons that the entrance into the Age of Aquarius is an inner, rather han an outer transformation, which could be the case.

And the fact is according to various prophecies and astrologers The Age of Aquarius began on Feb4;1962 and was seen in all the countries in the world,by scientists,astrologers,etc. It is a proven fact,at tht time a there was an eclipse of the sun and the moon ,the Astronomers of the whole world were witness to something unexpected. All planets of our solar system met in council under constellation of Aquarius,such an event happens only when an age occurs.

Understanding Mayan Calendar .........

The Maya developed their calendar long before the Julian or Gregorian calendars came into existence. The Mayan Calendar is based on naturally occurring energy cycles and a close connection to Mother Earth, the Sun, and the Pleiades. Because the Maya honored Mother Earth and the energy cycles that are present here, they were in tune with the cycles. They had access to information that is not available to 'modern people' because 'modern people' are extremely limited by their belief systems.
The Maya gained knowledge about many cycles which occur on Earth. They recognized a 13-day cycle of energy which comes from galactic(as explained in my previous post Deciphering Vedas) sources. They also came to know a 20-day energy cycle coming from the Sun. By studying the cycles and their interaction with each other, the Maya gained an understanding of life on Earth that far exceeds our 'modern' beliefs. Fortunately, this knowledge is becoming available to us at this time to assist in our 'return to natural harmony'...
As the Grand Cycle nears completion, something very interesting is also happening in the Pleiades constellation. The star Maya is the 3rd star of the Pleiades constellation. The star Maya passes through the Photon Band(As explained in my previous post deciphring Vedas) for about 2000 years and out of the band for about 1,200 years. It's orbital path around Alcyone the Central Sun (as explained in my previous post Deciphering Vedas) is shorter since it is closer to Alcyone. Our Sun will enter the Photon Band in 1998 and become completely within the Band by 2002. As our Sun leaves the Galactic Night and enters the Band, the star Maya also enters the Photon Band. There are several interpretations of what Avatars are and to what purpose they act. Avatar means "descent" and indicates a direct descent of Lord on earth There is a mention of 10 Avatars in Garuda Purana lists , with Kalki (Avatar) being the tenth. The Bhagavata Purana initially lists twenty-two avatars, but mentions an additional three leading to a total of twenty-five avatars. Kalki is presented as the twenty-second avatar '
According to Kalki purana, an Avataar , who has power to change the course of time stream in the favour of the good. He will be one to whom the power to change the destiny of the world will be given.It states the evil family of the Kalki will spring from the back of Brahma(Brahmin an upper caste). They will descend to earth and cause mankind to turn towards depravity. When man stops offering yagna(Hindu Ritual) to the gods, Vishnu(Supreme power/god of universe) himself will descend to earth to rid the world of evil. He will be reborn as Kalki to noted Brahmin(Hindu caste) family in the city of Shambhala. As a young man, He will be mentored in the arts of war by Parashurama, the sixth incarnation of Vishnu. He will then set out across the world battling evil kings and false prophets. He finally defeats Kali/Demon and brings about the Satya yuga(Golden Age). Having completed His mission, He will assume his four-armed form and return to heaven as Vishnu.(Lord of Universe)

Arrival of Golden Age as per Puranas

The Agni Purana explains that when the evil men who pose as kings begin to feed on human beings and try to destroy the righteous, Kalki, as the son of Vishnuyasha, and Yajnavalkya as his priest and teacher, will destroy these evil men with His weapons. He will establish moral law in the form of the fourfold varnas, or the suitable organization of society in four classes. After that people will return to the path of righteousness. The Agni Purana also relates that Hari (god), after giving up the form of Kalki(Avatar), will go to heaven. Then the Satya Yuga(Golden Age) will return as before.

The Vishnu Purana also explains that, "When the practices taught in the Vedas and institutes of law have nearly ceased, and the close of the Demon age shall be nigh, a portion of that divine being who exists of His own spiritual nature, and who is the beginning and end, and who comprehends all things, shall descend upon earth. He will be born in the family of Vishnuyasha, an eminent brahmin of Shambhala village, as Kalki, endowed with eight superhuman faculties. By His irresistible might he will destroy all the barbarians and thieves, and all whose minds are devoted to iniquity. He will reestablish righteousness upon earth, and the minds of those who live at the end of the Kali age(Demon age) shall be awakened, and shall be as clear as crystal. The men who are thus changed by virtue of that peculiar time shall be as the seeds of human beings, and shall give birth to a race who will follow the laws of the Golden Age or Satya Yuga, the age of purity. As it is said, 'When the sun and moon, and the lunar asterism Tishya, and the planet Jupiter, are in one mansion, the Golden Age shall return.'"

The Padma Purana relates that Lord Kalki will end the age of Kali(demon)

and will kill all the wicked barbarians and, thus, destroy the bad condition of the world. He will gather all of the distinguished brahmins(upper caste) and will propound the highest truth. He will know all the ways of life that have perished and will remove the prolonged hunger of the genuine brahmin(an upper caste) and the pious. He will be the only ruler of the world that cannot be controlled, and will be the banner of victory and adorable to the world.

The Bhagavata Purana states, "At the end of Demon Age, when there exist no topics on the subject of God, even at the residences of so-called saints and respectable gentlemen , and when the power of government is transferred to the hands of ministers elected from the evil men, and when nothing is known of the techniques of sacrifice, even by word, at that time the Lord will appear as the supreme chastiser. It further describes Lord Kalki's(Avaatar's/lord of universe) activities as follows: "Lord Kalki, the Lord of the universe, will mount His swift white horse Devadatta and, sword in hand, travel over the earth exhibiting His eight mystic opulences and eight special qualities of Godhead. Displaying His unequaled effulgence and riding with great speed, He will kill by the millions those thieves who have dared dress as kings."

Pralaya, as per, Hindu cosmology is an aeonic term which specifies different periods of time during which non activity situation persists, as per different formats or contexts.In the Samkhaya philosophy, one of the six schools of classical Indian philosophy, Pralaya means "non-existence, a state of matter achieved when the three gunas (principles of matter) are in perfect balance. According to Vishnu Purana & Agni Purana there are 4 different types of pralaya :Praakritik Pralaya , Naimittik Pralaya , Aryantik Pralaya&Nitya Pralaya

Praakritik Pralya which is of 311,040,000,000,000 solar years duration, occurs after the completion of life of Brahma (i.e. 100 Brahma years = 311 trillion and 40 billion earth years = one day of Vishnu = 1 Parama). After the completion of one Brahma life cycle, the complete dissolution of all the entities (i.e. thePanch Mahhbhoot or Universe ) takes place in the eternity (God). Praakritik Pralaya is the time for which Vishnu sleeps. The next morning, he again gives birth to a new Lord Brahma and ask him to create new worldly entities. Noticeably, Praakritik Pralaya and the Life of Brahma are of equal duration.

Naimittika Pralaya which is of 4,320,000,000 earth years, occurs just after the end of a Kalpa. Also, known as the Night of Brahma, it signifies the end of living world. In Bhagvata Purana sage Shukdeva told king Parikshit that if Lord Brahma is supposed to be a child (for example), then in a similar way as a child plays with his toys i.e. making various structures from his toys during day & breaking or dismantling them before he goes to sleep at night; Brahma makes the living world during his day (i.e. Kalpa) & destroys it before going to sleep during night (i.e. Naimittika Pralaya). A new living world is created by Brahma, when he wakes up the next day & so on the cycle continues till

Praakritik Pralaya. Again, Naimittika Pralaya & Kalpa are of equal duration.
Aryantik Pralaya also termed as Moksha(Salvation), is the final deliverance or the attainment of salvation by a jivan (soul) and after that the jivan is never again in the clutches of karma; nor bounded by the tight ropes of Sansaar(universe). It is therefore a variable time span conditioned or determined by the practise of the different kind of Yogas or Prapatti. It is the final immersion of a soul (i.e. aatmaa), thereby completely eliminating its individualism into the eternal almighty (i.e. Parmaatmaa).

As per Hindu vedas(hindu scriptures) dark age has just ended on our Earth and we are in transitory period(known as Pralayas) before entering the New Age of Light.In this transition,the ways and values of old age will be replaced with those of New Age,and the old energies will give way to new energies which is a process of every cycle of Yuga(era) on this earth.

We are aware of rotation of earth and other planets around the sun.Sun and six other stars revolve around Alcyone(known as Central Sun)And Alycone revolves around Sirius known as Greater Central Sun.The milky way contains billions of such stars and planets which revolve around a massive core star called Gallectic centre.The system of stars revolving around one another is the common feature among all the Galaxies in the Universe.It is believed that on Dec 21st;2012 two alignments of orbitting stars,revolving around one another,is expected to occur when our sun and our solar system come in direct alignment with Galactic equator and Galactic centre and Greater Central Sun will form an equiletral triangle in the space at the same time.It is also believed that the second sun(it is believed our sun has a twin called second sun ,now reffered as Nibiru and planet X) is expected to collide with earth in 2012.

There are various theories of world coming to end an in 2012 . Mayans ,Hindus and Chinese scriptures all ,have a mention of dooms day on coinciding year.

Life might begin if the blue greencyanobacteria bacteria manages to florish in the oceans. Thes microscopic organisms may transform the planet by capturing the energy of the sun to make food, releasing oxygen as a waste product.
