Kaspar wins CPR...AGAIN!

As Always, CPR was ridiculous. It went off without problems, and everyone was pumped. Kaspar took it with a record time of 21.16, and not without fighting for it against 250+ skaters, maybe 300? It was crazy. Good to see the s9 crew as always, Wayne, the surf rodz magician was there, Mark from ECC, those Bustin dudes... good times. Kaspar won on a custom dropped Boomerang with Surf-rodz trucks.

We stretched the wheelbase by 3/8" to give you just enough extra room to make it easier to go with a bigger wheel. This was designed to fit 70-72, but with the right kit you can go bigger. We wanted a tight fit with maximum platform real estate, so your wheels will be close, but not bite.

This is a sweet ride. Finally a true hybrid. A good description of this magic deck is a street-skater's longboard. Having spent so much time street skating my whole life, I have been chasing this dream designing a perfect hybrid that can handle it all well. I like to book down hills, ollie distance at speed too fast to out-run, carve a good bowl, and click a clean flip out of a curb cut. With this little fella, the next time you are "Kachunk-a-chunking" down the sidewalk to an intersection, just give her one last push and ollie the entire street and keep going. It's a do it all, and do it well deck. Made from a super light 5 ply, and thermoplastic, it will be light on the push, quick on the glide, and have that familiar E.W. "click" sound of a clean lively pop. This is the one son.

I saw some auction action where people were selling the supermodel for a lot of money... That's fine with me, but I decided to start a pre-sale here to ship next week so I can keep these decks accessible to those who really want one and don't have the cash to buy one at above suggested retail. This deck is rad. We have tested several prototypes, and finally we landed what we think is the best DH freestyle deck available. And it's freaking under $100!!! There is a deep elliptical concave that is deeper near the trucks. It's on one plane, no rocker, no chamber. It comes in 2 flexes - stiff 8 ply, and stiffer 9 ply, with hand picked Great Lakes region hard rock maple. No, maple is not all the same, and we have the best of the best. We payed close attention to the details. There is maximum possible real estate near the trucks without wheelbite, and features a deep wheel well that fits snug with large wheels. Please note that this deck was primarily designed to work with 70-72mm wheels. You can usually go up to about 76mm wheels with indy 215's, bear, and randal, but not designed to work with Paris trucks. They will shorten your wheelbase, and get bite with bigger wheels. There are routered channels for a touch of torsional flex without sacrificing the stiffer feel of the deck. This will allow the load to be evenly distributed between all 4 wheels in slides for a more predictable ride. You can also grab rail, even with bulky slide gloves - just look at how big they are! Fun, fun, fun, and that's our whole purpose here at Earthwing. We are not the cool guys with the hair-do's and sneakers, we are the fun guys with knowledge and determination.

Earthwing is a wee little company, with a ton of motivation. The Supermodel sold out in about 3 days. Compared to most companies, the number of decks we sold is laughable, but for me it was a big deal. It was a lot of decks for Earthwing to go through so quickly. I never anticipated the response this deck got, and I hope it lives up to the hype, and potential. Please keep the feedback rolling in, and let me know your ideas on how to improve this thing. There are still some decks in route to shops, so if you are looking for one, I can probably lead you in the right direction. If you think this is the only surprise this year, you will be surprised, because the bombs are about to drop!

This graphic was designed by Kaspar Spurgeon Heinrici who is an artist that also rides for Earthwing. He recently won the Broadway Bomb over 15,000 times. Congrats to Kaspar on winning that race so many times on all the different prototypes of Superchargers that have been tested through the years. It's tested, proven, and works. If it can survive the demands of an unforgiving NYC, it can survive just about anything. So thanks for the inspiration Kaspar, lets spread it around.

So, I have these guys in Houston, Texas that rip apart garages. This is what they do down there, all day, and all night. They are called the Houston Garage Riders, and they mean it. When we moved away from this ridiculously sticky black urethane about a year ago in our quest to find the fastest, most race friendly urethane, and shape. I think we nailed it with the purethane formula featured in the 56mm, 66mm Road Rage, 70mm Smokers, and 76mm Obombers. But this black urethane formula was apparently the holy grail for making it down the smooth concrete of a garage faster than anyone. Traction is the difference between a win and a loss in that situation. There are a tiny amount of these that will be gone right away So, all of you nut-cases in Texas, here is our gift to you. Scotty at Carve skateshop bought all of these wheels, and they are only available through him. Get 'em while they are hot.

The rails are routered on the bottom edge only, top edge is nice and sharp. They get better, and better. They are limited as usual, next batch will drop next year, so get em while they are here!!

Earthwing evolves with every production. Things seem to slowly morph over time changing with the style of riding, the advancement in materials, and adapting to the demands of the amazing talented skaters setting the bar higher, and higher. The 70mm Smokers, and 76mm Obombers have been redesigned with what seems like obvious improvements. The Purethane formula is exclusive to Earthwing, and unlike the extremely grippy black urethane we had back in the days, the purethane is hella fast, but had more drift. So we got rid of the beveled edge, and added a thicker, firmer sharp 90 degree lip with a wider contact. Now these have a great balance. They are lively, have excellent even wear, and feel new all the time. These are amazing, and under the radar, and so is Earthwing.

I never pay attention to this kind of stuff. When you think of Earthwing, I want you to feel the speed, danger, and the thrill of the risk.
