Deciding On What to Sell, What to Keep

I need to refine and refocus what Earthy Style is about so I’m deciding on what make for selling and what to make for keeping. Clothes, definitely, go on the keep list, at least for now. I don’t get much interest/feedback on those and everything I make I always want to wear LOL! so don’t push selling it. I’ve been big into making soy candles and soap lately so will definitely make lots to sell. I’m also thinking of selling some of our home grown seeds from the garden in little handmade bags as well…basically I think Earthy Style will be my storefront/extension of Family Earthprint, rather than just about fashion. Oh! and I’m learning to crochet so check back soon for my upcycled crocheted bags made from old plastic grocery bags.

Using Old Clothes to Re-Cover Chairs

I recovered our dining room chairs with fabric from old dresses I no longer wanted. The green one was too big and the black one made me look like a witch LOL! plus it had a plaid collar and I can’t stand prints. I’ve been wanting to re-do the chairs for a while but this year I’m not paying for anything new for the house other than plants. Nice trashion/upcycling/recycling!

Quilting 2009 Begins

About this time every year I start on my kids’ Christmas quilts. This year I’m feeling ambitious, I want them to be a bit bigger and also, just different. I came across this site via flickr, and I just LOVE that header photo. I think it is just the thing to do for my kids’ quilts this year; a design of some sort that tells a story or showcases part of their personalities. Usually I use cut up pieces of their old clothes and then take a favorite item and use that as the centerpiece or theme of the quilt and everything else large blocks of color. I’m so psyched now to do something new! I think the top part of each quilt I’ll do small blocks, then the middle part large blocks, then small blocks again, then the bottom I’ll do the story/design section. ooooooooooooh ^_^

Not sure if I want to do a border though, or just edge it up. What do you think?
