Oh my GERD, this started as a short blurb for the video because I think Drew Gooden is great at what he does. I don't know what happened. I can't read this anymore, so I'm posting. Not sure if I'll keep it because I don't really know what it is.

Drew Gooden provides my annual realization that Spotify is still a thing. He is such a good egg. Love everything about this video. I have no idea why anyone is still using that parasitic garbage service or propping up these kinds of destructive companies.

This is where the "you can't stop/hinder capitalism by boycotting individual companies without organization, so it's pointless" shit drives me nuts. Sure, if you're of the mind that you're a one-man capitalism fighting machine, but that's not the point, nor the expected outcome. Brother, you're only saying that for selfish reasons (which is fine, some treats are fine, but be honest with yourself and others about it). Your behavior as a consumer absolutely matters, if for no other reason than to show others that they have the power to say "no" to companies that are misanthropic and to emulate supporting and promoting ethical companies and owners/workers. You might just inspire a corporate subverter or a person/collective who wants to try something different (like a co-op). Socialism and communal ideas can catch like wildfire in the right conditions (like living under global fascism). That's why throughout my entire life, they have wanted social and economic punishment for even talking about it in a neutral or positive manner. You currently can't control where you get your water from, or in many places, what your ISP is (which is why all utilities should be nationalized), but you can control where you get your produce, dinner, and your shoes. You consistently have a choice of whether you'll keep paying for meals at a restaurant you know doesn't pay well, is a union-buster, and treats it's workers like shit. Or supports/facilitates genocide and the dehumanization project. As workers, we often don't have much choice but to take what job is available to us or end up on the street and/or in jail (as a very legal slave). As a consumer, especially AS A WORKER-consumer, you have a responsibility to be discerning about what you buy and promote. Stop using brainwashed consumerism addiction and loyalty to the tools of the system as excuses to tune out ethics in order to pretend to not give a shit. It's the same thing greed addicts do. If we don't acknowledge it, we don't really have the freedom to have an honest conversation about it. No one is pristine, making all of the perfect and agreeable ethical choices all of the time. Especially if you live in the West, it is next to impossible to only support/buy from ethical people/companies. The point is doing what you can, at the very least, is better than trying to live honestly with or promoting doing nothing at all.

Only thing I'll add is that art is just like every humanistic thing that Capitalism inevitably decimates, the industry is not broken. It has never not worked as intended. It's why 95% of "pop" music everywhere in the western world is so bland, formulated, and soulless. Always has been. This shit is nothing new. They're just still prospering because everyone who should be reporting on and regulating this shitty system ends up in their position precisely because they will never produce or do anything of consequence. Once we created super-citizens in the form of corporations, the old/new money families who freely rape and pillage because of that status don't need us anymore. They choose their representatives. They just need some of us to show up and vote every two years to validate their openly corrupt sham system and to unquestioningly prop up their bottom of the barrel companies, services and modern day feudalism. They then use that power and those companies to create a constant spectacle of working class infighting with an entire industry around it that swallows up all media. Always recentering all things around voting and politics to give the illusion that something, anything, everything is happening solely because of how important elections and our faux American democracy are. If you control the choices between Nazi, nazi, or Nazi/nazi sympathizer, you're still voting for a nazi, even if they're wearing a blue armband instead of a red one, and register under the "center/left party" rather than identifying as being on the right. That's what happens when you let any old rich asshole use their illiterate media army to change the meanings of things, concepts, words, gestures, assaults, murders, state sponsored terrorism, genocide etc.

It's all a part of the meat grinder. Technofascists hate art because it first teaches, then reminds them and everyone else of how soulless and sociopathic they and their products/services are. They must be totally detached in order to steal all of the wealth and life-sustaining resources of the planet from 8 billion people and all other life on the planet. We know what terrible humans they are by the choices they make publicly, imagine the disgusting shit we don't know about, all of the social, civil, legal, ethical boundaries they crossed a long time ago. Without real push-back and economic consequences, it was inevitable that their delusions of grandeur would eventually have them longing to do it to other planets too. Unironically, their own "AI" grift is unintentionally exposing their eugenicist misanthropy on a much grander scale because they can't see how much they have completely exposed themselves with these schemes. It's inevitable that this artificial bubble is eventually going to burst, so until then, they must contain the media we're exposed to in an attempt to soften the blow. To direct the growing anger in one direction, that isn't them.

Some say they're "evil", I favor "soulless," but really, we're saying the same thing. I just don't believe in predetermined "goodness" or "badness", in part because those social concepts are defined by humans as opposite poles of a spectrum that is based on a very narrow perspective and very little information in terms of universal knowledge. Our little monkey brains, who can't even hear or see as well as billions of other "lessor" beings on this planet, really don't know a whole lot to be feigning that we understand unseen objective polar opposites of the Universe in totality and then use it to determine whether groups or individuals deserve air, water, shelter or even life. We don't even understand Dark Matter -- 27% of the known universe (as opposed to 5% ordinary matter, ie atoms) -- which we can actually detect. It just isn't logical as the most informed among us are adjusting, re-defining, and discovering our basic laws of physics, while uneducated and selective dumbfucks are still insisting dinosaurs never existed, on Thanksgiving Day, even. They are the most driven amongst us to coerce others into parroting their insanely stupid beliefs by threatening to withhold your basic human rights if you don't.

The technofascists and ethnofascists who proudly and undisputedly own and control most major outlets that claim to disseminate "verified" and "unbiased" information must repeatedly hit us over the head with how SmArT, just, and virtuous they are. How lucky we should all feel for them to allow us to have things. Even though it's easy to learn there is absolutely no evidence to back those claims. The reason people listen to AI slop unironically is directly linked to the same people who need you to think people like Ford, Jobs, Gates, Zuckerburg, etc are just one-man operations developed in a basement/garage that shat out computer systems, conjured an ugly car out of thin air, or was divined a shitty society-collapsing app because they're so brilliant. That’s what they want to force upon us instead of the reality that ultimately tens, then hundreds, then thousands, then tens or hundreds of thousands of people contributed to defining and expanding that idea, worked to bring it to fruition, creating a company to sell a product that very, very, very few people will soak up any recognition and capital/profit from. The workers and users are deliberately detached from their own contributions and experiences, human interaction and social/ethical norms at home, on their phones, and at work. We're supposed to be grateful to walk on the same planet with these extremely unique specimens, when they're just they're just adept criminals with the willingness to do whatever it takes to feed their collective greed addiction and the means to do it. Breaking laws, bending and breaking societal/ethical norms, facilitating misinformation astroturf campaigns, deliberately flooding information systems with lies and disinformation, buying millions of bots and trolls to inflate numbers against unpopular ideas, stealing large sums of money under a system ran by criminals and carpetbaggers is just OP. It doesn't make them smart, just ruthless and misanthropic, which has also always been OP since the dawn of time.

Making us vulnerable to believing what they ~~want~~ need us to starts with little (conditioning) lies like Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny and Disney princesses. Mom and dad, grammy and pop-pop, county chapter treasurer for the KKK great-great granddad and pro-patriarchy, self-hating busybody great-great-granny knows best. Everything your parents do is for you and you're the most precious perfect chosen person, handcrafted down the particle by your god. The foundation of sex binarism at birth and the accompanying socially coveted gender reveals, pink vs. blue, patriarchal vs matriarchal, us vs them mindsets intentionally leave out a whole lot of people and biological nature, and make the world unnaturally adversarial to a child before they're even born. Conveniently, this mentality innately evolves into red vs blue, whether it be the Cards vs the Cats, Coke vs Pepsi, or Dems vs Republicans. Our capitalist politico-economic system relies upon this winner vs loser dichotomy-dependent brainwashing.

The capitalist system is sustained with enforced brand worship and leisure-time religions like the NCAA/NFL/NBA/MLB/NHL/FIFA/NASCAR. If you aren't into sports, you'll always have the old-Hollywood-style 24 hour, Next Door feeding "News" cycle of whining, false/malicious grievances, gossip, slander, defamation, calculated targeting, stochastic and state/corporate sponsored terrorism. Out of all of that comes required dogma proselytized to provide cover for abusive/corrupt family/religious/community members and leaders, as long as they've been proven the be "not one of them". At that point, training to become a professional and proud propagandist hypocrite with squishy, ever-changing boundaries and morals is complete. Next you just have to cut out all of the logical, reasonable, and caring people that are left in your life, like any good cultist does. Now no one can stop you from becoming a billionaire.

Throughout history, the transformation into a professional misanthropic tool always ends with trying to stave off the predators we feed by sacrificing the most vulnerable among us out fear and selfishness, disguised as necessity and freedom. You find yourself voluntarily throwing your hard-earned money back to your masters, might as well save them the trouble, since they'll just steal the rest anyway. Embracing the worshiping of a geriatric rapist-grifter as your apocalyptic, self-fulfilling prophet, while he eyes your 14 year old daughter. Or son. You start to reason that it was your idea to cheer on or demand the imprisonment, state/corporate sponsored murder, torture, ethnic cleansing and eventually genocide of other oppressed people who you've been told are your enemies as soon as you could speak. All the while, you've been made to wholeheartedly believe that if you deserve your own level of enslavement, punishment, and misery, so too does everyone else who is "below" you. It's all according to the system you live by, and it is the only way to live unless you want to spend eternity sucking some version of a lava filled demon/devil dick. You're fine with going back to a time when racists could be overtly racist because you perceive you have the right combination of phenotype expression that ensures will always be in charge, as you mainline the fear that you won't and then your "enemies" will act like you. What you're conditioned to forget is that we're all oppressed by the same people. Like, for hundreds, if not thousands of years.

The 1950s that they long for are when there were millions of children, parents, grandparents, and extended family, whole communities, with trauma and PTSD after WWI, the depression, and WWII who were forced to tough it out without being able to talk about their private hell or risk going to the "nuthouse", being dispossessed and ostracized. This was the heyday of major "job-creating" corporations freely and knowingly taking advantage of and poisoning their employees, citizens, and/or air and water supply of surrounding towns with the complicity of local, state, and federal government. They created a cancer epidemic in some of the poorest parts of the nation that still exists today. They never had to fucking pay for it, so it's still happening in new oppressed towns (see East Palestine, Ohio, Flint, MI, the entire state of OK). That's what they want to get back to and make even more efficient at creating more profit at any cost. To do that they must get rid of regulations and unions, to remove our rights as consumers and workers without putting themselves at risk. This means they must contain, direct and control class struggle, not end it. It's just that the majority will never be ok with criminals defining and unevenly doling out inverted justice for those they choose to oppress. Instead, they define who the criminals are, lionize certain professions and positions that enforce the status quo, criminalize those who challenge it. Never forget, in 2026 everyone has the power to learn what they believe is based in capitalist propaganda and not provable facts. The problem is when they've been indoctrinated to believe that they must be a "winner" above all else, it's easy to justify dominating others in the name of Capitalist Nationalism or religious fundamentalism, so they don't have to care about truth or facts (nationalism is founded in lies and selective half-truths). On the contrary, evidence or witnesses, scientists, analysts, or anyone who disagrees with their version of events needs to be discredited or disposed of in some manner.

Without the deliberate distractions, myths, and lies we tell ourselves, or more accurately, that are shoved into our brains from birth, we'd eventually have to actually look into the meatgrinder as we're pushed toward and then through it. We might ask why are we the ones in the butchering line at all when we're literally 99.9999% of the world's human population? Which begs the question, since we know their bullshit "AI" is deliberately programmed with bias and an agenda (@grok is this true?), what do you think those catchy AI generated songs are allowed to convey as we live in a society of ad overload, forced and uninformed/limited choices? Where monochromatic out-of-touch billionaire con artists have convinced themselves they keep the earth turning, they can do whatever they want, whenever they want, because after all, it all belongs to them, including us. I'm sure their AI songs and content are all about helping one another, the perilous fallout of greed addiction, subversion, and questioning authoritarianism.

Because apparently I can turn any discussion about music and politics into something that will piss people off, this is where I would have probably found a way to blather on -- as person who has never identified under as any social label other than being socialist (which is a natural state of being) -- would say 85% of what you think is punk, is not punk. People who don't agree with you and have a solid argument with history to back it up are not "gatekeepers." You can't require me to meet an impossible monetary requirement to buy your album and call it socialism, and you can't just use that word because you don't understand a stance or intent behind it. Anyone can become a punk, anyone, there is no gatekeeping, you just can't change the definition of what it is to fit your favorite band... or you. That the adoption of "pop" punk as a thing amongst some of the old guard is what "killed" punk (punk never dies, it just disappears for the douchebags who feel completely comfortable saying sentences like "Punk is the most "gatekept" genre there is." That is a very real, non-meme statement I've read more than once, the irony is lost upon them it seems). "Mainstreaming" Punk died with bands like Green Day and the Offspring, neither of which are remotely punk (was Billie Jo a punk? I guess? probably? He was a Gilman rat, right? Does that make GD a punk band, of course fucking not). Then I'd say something about bands like the Descedents being part of the problem and reiterate that skate/gutter/LA punk has absolutely nothing at all to do with "pop punk". I am waaay too easy find on the internet to invite some emo kid who has spent 20 years of life calling himself a punk because he owns every Blink 182 album to come throw shit at my windows. It's also not something I really give a shit about all that much. Especially since we're kind of all punks now on the left, whether we like it or not. So, to be clear, I won't be doing that.

What the fuck do I know, anyway. I'm just a dipshit who has possibly been walking around on a broken or fractured leg for 4 weeks, as I pay almost $900 a month for insurance, but can't talk myself into going to the Dr. because of severe anxiety due to a couple of really shitty doctor experiences over the past 5 years (and when I was younger). I told the wife of the MD I work for about it for the first time today in passing and she didn't seem to think anything of it, so I'm sure it's fine. I swear, next week is the week. I loved this game so much. The OST is absolutely amazing. I still remembered most of it in spite of not hearing it for probably at least 35 years. So good.

I was lucky? to have a recently divorced and remarried dad who was irresponsible with his inheritance money. I didn't know anyone else with a Nintendo (PowerPad, bra), old Atari (both at mom's), and a Sega Master system (at dad's). Hell, don't think I knew anyone with a Sega at all (this was pre-Genesis). I remember playing this with the whole family happily watching in the living room on his boxy floor console flat screen tv. It was easily one of my favorite things to do along with watching the Cats and gratuitously violent action movies (sometimes with my dad) or horror at 1AM. Probably my first speed-running game as I think dad bought the Sega before mom bought my Nintendo/Mario.

Making a visual collage of all of my favorite childhood games, some of the inspirations so far. I started collecting the covers and realized, ho-ly shit, there are like 30-40 of them. And those are just my favorites. I thought there would be like 10-15. I guess if you start playing at like 4 yrs old, on multiple platforms and mediums they add up quickly, especially if you add in Arcade games (which I played a lot). I haven't even got to the mid-late 90s yet - I just realized these are just like the first 10 years of gaming and I'm still adding them.

There is a wonderful thing happening in Boards of Canada world. I hope 4/20 is the day [AGAIN]. I also hope there aren't mass suicides of those who were holding out until after this album drops, 'cause if we know anything about the Sandison brothers, they're going to give us what we need and what we deserve. Realism and hope in the face of despair, always.

At this time, all I can say is:

Create. Organize. Know who your people are. Stay alert. Stay informed. Don't ignore or get caught up in destructive personal shit or matters that have nothing to do with you. Question and hold your people accountable. Question and hold yourself accountable first. Don't be beyond reproach. Ask yourself: Am I helping or hindering? If you're not helping, stay the fuck out of it, and find an appropriate way to help. Contrarians are only useful if they're knowledgeable and wise, aware when they've lost an argument and adjust in a dignified way. They're not useful just because someone decided they are good at arguing. In fact, giving too much credit and attention to idiots, or the uh, misguided (I'm trying, man), who simply use debating as a way to elevate themselves by oppressing others can be dangerous to a movement or org if they have an ounce of charisma. Don't waste a lot of your time on those pretending to give a shit just to make themselves feel relevant. Just keep in mind, you may not have the particular set of tools needed for that particular person, but most people can be persuaded or pushed in the right direction with unimpeachable facts, logic, and appealing to reason. Offer new or refreshed ideas and possibilities. And love and understanding, which take many forms.

Remember, this is not about short-term gratification or satisfaction, it is all to save us from ourselves in the long-term out of necessity, not only because it's right and just. We have no rights without human rights.

Be grateful for and engage with art in the worst and most oppressive of times. Be thankful BoC has not given up either. Don't feel guilty that (dark) whimsy, is still enjoyable. Necessary, even.

Which is probably why I've spent the last 4-5 months finally getting back to Korean Movies and television after about 6 years. Korean culture is filled with wonderful dark whimsy which is why their content so addictive.

The "center" will very intentionally never try to understand us or come to our "side" (human rights are not a "side", they just are). You can argue, struggle, capitulate, "compromise" (even though it's really capitulating, because the needle must always move right), entertain polite discussions, or even lively ones, but ultimately it will always come down to this: adherence to International and Human rights laws. If you believe in equality for all, you believe there are base level laws of humanity everyone, every state, every entity must abide by and must be enforced. Their problem, the reason why they are not remotely leftist and instead reside on the side they define as "the right", is because they always need to make excuses of bad behavior for themselves, their parents, their spouse, their kids, their neighbor, their pastor, so they don't have to deal with the whys and hows that might lead to accountability, and a possible turn toward the left. This leads them to make excuses for politicians, bankers, governments, law enforcement, military and intelligence so they never have to ask the hows or whys that led to the current moment, and how they contributed to it. When we say arrest ALL of the war criminals, ALL of the white collar criminals, we mean ALL. We don't carve out exceptions for our favorite politicians, celebrities, companies, pundits, family members. We say try them all. That's it. They don't care if they kidnap you illegally and eventually let you go, or the court finds you innocent. Or if they ship you off to a country you've never lived in. Or if you are tortured and die somewhere along the way to proving your innocence or reclaiming your rights. If you intentionally flood the system, you overload the system, blur lines, shift what is accepted, what is the norm. They're very intentional terrorists. These are the tools of the oligarchs. It's what's required to continue to artificially elevate them as exceptional beings, exempt from the reality of being human, always has been. Upending your life, leaving you in financial ruin, terrorizing you, your family, your community, whoever, they very overtly don't care because that's the point. In the prison/military/human trafficking industrial complex, they gain monetary and political capital off of the terror, on both ends, money that is used to further separate us from them. Physically, extrajudicially.

The system is working as intended. You lose, no matter what. You decide how much you lose. If you're lucky. Old money acts instinctively, new money froths at the mouth and pisses their pants. None of this is new. Only the technology and efficiency of oppression, mass murder and incarceration have changed. Fascists and Nazis have come out of the closet and are being celebrated and propped up by the Epstein class and their press in 24 hour a day news cycles. They don't care that you know laws, rules, dignity, integrity, decency have no place in their world. The media is no longer an arm of the people, nor an opioid of the masses, it's simply a blunt tool of repression and brainwashing of a police state. The people should have shut up, stopped poking around, and appreciated their treats, their stuff. Why would you believe you have a right to not be exploited? Whether you're age 0 or 125, you only have the agency you're allowed. There's a reason billions of people are indoctrinated into believing that not only does obedience to the law equal true freedom, but that law doesn't come from the state or even your fellow man, it comes from a secret third place.

Every day, find a way to remind yourself that the people as a collective and our humanity are what drives us. Human rights, justice, and dignity are what guide us. Every rights violation and act of violence against us is an instance that will lead to freedom from tyranny of the greedy, weak and cowardly once and for all.

Also, since we have Chicago Pope in there, can't we raid the Vatican Files? Shit, there's more than a millennia of secrets in there, no good reason to keep all of that shit in a dungeon in 2026. I feel like I should share this. I probably already have here in some way at some point, but I'm too lazy to try and search 2327 posts (641 unpublished, including 7 out of the last 10, just sayin').

Tomorrow's Harvest may be the most perfect album ever made, it gives you what you need every single listen. Everything Boards of Canada has done up until this point is worth your time (and money). I don't get to see or hear a lot of profound art these days without stumbling upon it. Most days when I'm awake and not working, I'm watching/reading/writing something, usually all at the same time, so I don't stumble across a lot these days. I tend to go back to certain things, mediums, instances that live in my mind, when it needs to recalibrate. There are only a few albums that are almost other worldly for me. For my dad it was most things Pink Floyd, especially listening to Animals and repeatedly watching Live at Pompeii. He also very much loved A Momentary Lapse of Reason when it came out, as did I since dad made tapes of the album, along with an Alan Parsons Project album for me and my sister. I was 9...different time. I can't help but wonder, knowing now that my dad did acid, smoked and grew weed before and throughout my childhood, how fried/high he probably sometimes was when listening to and watching that shit. He passed a little bit of his love of Pink Floyd on to me and my sister simply because there were many years when some form of Pink Floyd was always on, sometimes woven in with Alan Parsons Project, Yes, Prince, Genesis or Peter Gabriel, but always in the rotation on Dad's nice stereo or on the tv, which was also hooked up to the stereo. The through line is, much like Momentary Lapse, both Cacophony and Tomorrow's Harvest were both created long after both Rudimentary Peni and Boards of Canada had won the respect of their peers and were already at a kind of legendary status amongst those who don't give a shit about mainstream music or "art critics" (I'm not saying critics didn't/don't like them, professional art critics are just fucking useless and detrimental to the creation and freedom of all art). In my opinion, both are BY FAR their best all around albums, and I genuinely love every single song those entities created before these albums.

I have a few bands that I can never tire of, but can only compare Rudimentary Peni to Boards of Canada in terms of how they affect my brain and mood (although, Zounds and Kinks are up there). Both seemed to have already lived in this universe before anyone had ever even heard them. At transformative times, they helped make sense in the absurdity that debating objective reality and the acceptance of it, or the futile rejection of it, is a constant in our world. To deny that objectivity creates a shared reality is to reject humanity, and ultimately, yourself. Acknowledging that is what allows us to make better choices as humans, and not put desensitizing faith in what modern man creates to make himself feel alive and relevant. [I am still searching for a better way to say this, I STILL cannot capture it precisely] Having more productive and honest reckonings with ourselves and others lessens the desire to seek out comfort through judgement of humans instead of their available choices. It's that easy, just made to seem out of reach for no good reason.

Anyway, this kind of art is always hanging in the air, even when it's not on. If you have severe anxiety and decent taste in music, close your eyes sometime, put on comfortable, good headphones (not fucking ear buds, man) and listen to every Rudimentary Peni album from start to finish independently. Maybe at least up until Pope Adrian the 37th Psychristiatric. I love everything Blinko, Matthews, and Greville do together, I live for the bass and drums just as much as Nick's vocals and lyrics, it's just that a lot of the later stuff is a tougher listen for casual observers. Anyway, then do the same with Boards of Canada. Probably not back to back. Not only would that take awhile, they're two very different rides that still somehow always end up in the same place.

It is fucking cold. The snow isn't stopping. I love this shit, but can't help but recall losing power, hearing transformers popping, falling trees and branches all around and not being able to do anything but sit tight until the sun comes up. At least I have a 20 year old and not a 4 year old now. I am glad we live in a city, we usually don't have to wait too long for restoration because we're off the main roads. We're also close to a hospital, which provides a little comfort. It's a more of rural hospital, so not that much comfort.

It does make me pause to wonder why the fuck am I only looking at property in the middle of nowhere, away from cities and freeways, in what happens to be the four states that are currently being occupied, to varying degrees, by literal white supremacist federal forces/the billionaire fascists' personal paramilitary paid for by us. Immigrants, Palestinians, Venezuelans, the global south, (...) are being punished because capitalism reached it's peak, wealthy pedophiles got too lazy and comfortable, and the billionaire-class hate themselves so much they want to torture and murder us all for reminding them what horrible, useless people they are. Those groups have been paying for the people not lying down and going along with fascism and oppression, or really it's because those who present themselves as the power brokers on the left or as decent human beings protecting humanity for nefarious purposes, very publicly won't do anything to stop it in its tracks, because ultimately, they're ok with it. It's very much still, 'guys, trust us, it's going to swing back the other way because that's what happens in history. You're all very privileged and predictable. Just wait until the NEXT election.' That's what happens when you send privileged kids to privileged schools, they don't learn anything but billionaire/Epstein class talking points and graduate top of their class for it. Afterward, they're hired to work in law and consulting firms, then appointed as judges or become the heads of lobbying groups, and/or become politicians for a brief time before going right back to the same lobbying and consulting firms. Eventually, they contribute even more privileged kids of their own, who were destined to repeat the same steps before they were born, and so it continues until someone, or a great many someones say this is enough.

This is all very 2001-2002. They just realized they can make up any "touchstone" launching point whenever they want because enough Americans are sufficiently stupid, distracted or uninterested. Buying entire media conglomerates and spending millions (billions?) for bots and trolls are no longer just good business practices, now it's more out of necessity to maintain power since the wealthy Pedo-Nazis have been forced into a premature coming out party. On the other hand what's in motion has probably, in some way, been in the works since at least July of 2006. The fallout plan is just being facilitated and managed by incompetent and privileged sycophantic dumbshits. Meanwhile, the democrats always seem to find themselves pacified or voluntarily choked by money, power, potential blackmail, and their love of outdated platitudes that don't fit in this century, if they ever did. The working class, students, the elderly, disabled folks are told to ignore the "legal" corruption and strange bedfellows. Your only power is to "just vote, stupid" or you're useless, or worse, enemies of the party. And don't you dare organize or you'll be labeled as enemies of the state.

You know why none of this shit works anymore in spite of all of the money and power in the world? Why fascism is always the inevitable outcome for "both parties"? Because they know no one really wants what they're actually selling. I don't mean what they say they're selling, that's all pro-consumer, pro-capitalist slave propagandist bullshit. Unfortunately, many do buy that shit, which is why we're always in the same predicament. I mean, do you know why it's so important to make sure no one ever really wants to know about the actual outcomes and consequences of their direct/indirect actions/inaction and participation in capitalism? We, just like the overwhelming majority of species on this planet, aren't inherently violent and sadistic. Some believe the best defense is offense earnestly, it's just most people, whether they think they agree with that sentiment or not, don't want to inflict (non-consensual) pain or death onto another human. Most of us want to help people when they need it, especially if they are in pain. We aren't supposed to know or think about the fact that the international economic/political system that rules over us and controls our government and justice system requires rewarding and amplifying detached and indifferent psychopathy and direct and indirect violence. Efficient, misanthropic, violent psychopathy is peak capitalism. It is, and has always been the end game. As long as the West is educated or forced to believe Democracy=Capitalism, or more accurately, Capitalism>Democracy, those who have all the power through generations of coercion and stolen blood money will willfully, enthusiastically defend elevating the most dangerous wealthy criminals as the most important humans, because they've lazily decided that it's kill or be killed. Ignoring that is a choice they're making for all of us, not an inevitability. They don't actually believe in the strength of their own system either, they just need it long enough to horde as much money money as possible to be sure they're the ones doing the killing. They want to get to choose who lives and dies, because in order to live like indifferent monsters, they've had to convince themselves they're prophets and gods.

The people who do not value collective life at all are always the ones who can't stop trying to convince everyone they care about the concept of life more than anyone else and only they and their disciples truly get it. In the same breath as blessing an arbitrary piece of stolen land with borders created solely to divide and conquer, they're cheering for the unspeakable deaths and torture of hundreds of thousands, if not millions of children, the elderly, women, men, and everyone in between. The self-ordained holy and righteous only require tepid reassurance that the conditions are right. That is, if they haven't been told it's simply the will of their god(s), making any atrocities not only ok, but necessary and blessed. The exclusive deciphering of its/his/her/their intention can conveniently only be performed by an appointed human or come from very intentional interpretations of ancient texts, drenched in other fallible human perspectives and biases. I believe a great many of the people who buy or accept this shit -- if they weren't so purposely detached from the rest of us -- don't actually want the responsibility, gu ilt, or repercussions of causing people death and or great pain. They're just made to believe being oblivious -- or faithful -- is a virtue.

As a species we abhor torture not solely because we fear the physical or psychological pain ourselves, but also because we recognize the dangerousness and unpredictability of a mind that can carelessly inflict that kind of unbearable pain on another living being. Often those who obsess over defending the use of torture or physical/psychological pain in warfare or the justice system are the same people who are obsessed with dominating and controlling everyone around them. Some of these people just have undiagnosed, potentially harmless tendencies or kinks that they've been made to feel shame, guilt, and embarrassment about, for not being what they've been brainwashed to believe is "normal". They don't understand what one wants to do in their private/sexual life only has to do with their public life as much as they want it to. No one has a right to demand to know whether or not a physically masculine male like getting his ass smacked while blindfolded. Most people are private about what gets them off, it's just hetero-normative marketing that makes them feel shame and the constant need to proclaim like "WE ALL LIKE BIIIG TIIIITS and GETTING OUR DIIIICKSS SUUUUCKED, AMMIRIGHT, GUYS???!!" "Guys will only love you if you put up with their misogynistic bullshit, keep your opinions to yourself and look pretty. If they don't want to fuck you it's because you need to be thinner and more subservient." They don't realize they're not only not alone, they're surrounded by people suppressing who they are or what they are into because of shame that is meant to keep them in line and easily coerced. This is why they obsess over anything LGBTQIA people do, and want them banished from public life. If I can't be who I am neither can you! They think sex is carried over into every part of public life because that's how it is for them. The suppression keeps it on their minds all of the time. They don't know how to accept or even compartmentalize that part of themselves, so everyone else pays. They fear and don't know what to do with their urges and secrets, or how to satisfy it in a respectful, consensual, legal manner, so they instead dominate everyone their daily life. They project their deep shame onto the world because of the fear and/or anger knowing that they've boxed themselves out of a consensual lifestyle that could have satisfied those urges without turning them into an unpredictable, dangerous fucking psychopath at the rest of the world.

For the rest of them, that is the kink: the double life, the power over others, the secrecy, being above the rules and law, forcing everyone else they can into having to play along in some way with their twisted perspective. Those are the Patrick Bateman's of the world. Those are the guys I tell my kid to never find herself alone in a room with, and if she comes across a group of them in the wild, back out of the area, and run. They're why after RvW was overturned in 2022 I bought her a legal belt knife because buying a taser was illegal at her age. Luckily for the rest of us, there are not a lot of them in the world, but probably exponentially more every day, many getting hired into the white collar crime ring. With the mix of the current collapse of the concept of normalcy, humanity, and the concentration of wealth of the mentally deranged, their range and impact are purposely amplified under this system and culture.

When someone shoots up a grocery store, and they're the right color, the media wonders should someone have done more to inquire about and treat their mental health problems. Or at least they used to when they actually still covered mass murder perpetrated upon American citizens. Meanwhile, entire industries that drive the global economic system thrive and make money off of exploiting people and their resources at their weakest. They hold daily brainstorm meetings to reinvent schemes to keep the population turning on one another using partisan marketing. They create new ways to profit off of indiscriminately inflicting hardship, pain, or death on large groups of people. When they do all of these things well, we buy stocks in them. Or more accurately, we hire Patrick Bateman to choose which blood thirsty companies to help pay for our retirement without ever having a care in the world for the profit-first business practices and imperialist philosophy they force upon the world to earn you those few thousand dollars. The detachment from everything is everything.

This is where COVID came in, it further desensitized people from caring about being responsible for someone else's well-being, health or even death in a very visceral and real way. Apathy was no longer in the abstract it was a concocted act of defiance. You knew if you went to the store sick without any kind of protection or consideration for who also might be at the store -- since all of the uneducated charlatans who were feeding you bullshit to groom you into their cult were wrong, and all of the basic scientific evidence was right -- you could potentially be guilty of negligent manslaughter. Then you were made to believe that because you don't feel like being inconvenienced, you must fight for the right to needlessly debilitate or kill someone's grandma or child with an undiagnosed auto-immune disease. This line of misanthropy continues today with ICE. Incidentally, or maybe not so much, they are legally encouraged to wear those things that you were willing to kill for in arbitrary protest so that they don't suffer legal consequences when they murder American citizens. This is in addition to the laws that say it's ok to kill protestors if they might make you late to work. If we hadn't already been dehumanizing and carving out certain sects of people as human rights exceptions for the greater good for decades, or hundreds of years, to begin with, it wouldn't have come so easily. I'm looking at you blue-no-matter-whoers.

I don't know why that is in the middle of this post, but I'm keeping it.

Rudimentary Peni - Cacophony - fastest 42 minutes and 39 seconds of your life. At least it always is for me. I always feel like it's over so quickly, and yet it's their longest album. I think. I don't know, I'm too lazy to go in the other room and look at my albums/EPs on iTunes. Other than my child, this album is probably the greatest thing I got from my ex. I'm lucky that I don't associate it with him in any way while listening to it, would have been devastating to ruin it. First time I heard it was comparable to taking acid for the first time in the way it activated my brain. At least up until the peak I experienced, which transitioned into a bad trip pretty quickly because we smoked a joint that was unknowingly laced with PCP. I'm still glad I experienced it - just maybe wish it was not at 14. Anyway, I had drawn a short, crude storyboard for turning this into an animated short film using Nick Blinko's art as a foundation within a year of hearing it. I would still like to do it. I've been listening to this, and all Rudimentary Peni, ever since (1994).

Boards of Canada - Tomorrow's Harvest

Also. I am writing. A LOT. More than I have in years. When I want to be inspired by and write about the current fascist wave in the West, I sit down to get it on the page. I get a good start, but I hit a wall when it intersects with some unknown personal trauma in my brain or some other bullshit I get stuck on. Not a journalist, obviously. I've been having all of these vivid fucking memories I had not really accessed for more than 30 years because at the time, I was encouraged to shove shit aside in order to be able move on, even though I thought I had kind of already moved on at that point. I was supposed to leave all of it and them behind, even if the person(s) encouraging the burying had no intention of doing so themselves. Stuffing trauma has a successful track record in history, I'm sure that was the correct way to handle it. I was 16 and had no desire or tools to try to unpack all of the shit that had happened over the previous several years. So I just drank, a lot, and smoked weed. For about 6 years.

Anyway, when I start to write I end up writing 15 fucking pages of shit that kind of comes rushing into my brain, but in colorful fragments and pieces that are sometimes loud, or muffled and distant, sometimes muted, almost dreamlike at first. Until they're not. At some point in the mad scramble to write, they become crystal clear and details start to flood in. Specific lighting that confirms the time of day, my favorite show at the time playing in the background on the tv, so clearly that, with more concentration I might even be able to remember the episode - Roseanne and DJ both wearing blue shirts. The tactile feeling of thick hair between fingers. The crisp air denoted the amount of time that had gone by, the color of a jacket and ugly pants with nothing else but the audio and dim light of an overhead streetlight. Then back in time again to the smell of cologne mixed with other bodily, environmental, circumstantial scents, and the flash of a swinging of a chain from a weird angle. I write them out, gaps start to fill, new perspectives are illuminated by the grace of time. Sometimes it's helpful, sometimes they become wormholes I have no way to traverse with current information. It's kind of bizarre how easily and clearly certain benign instances come back, while anxiety inducing things had remained quietly in the background, though I really wish were gone, or at least softer. Stranger still are the things that I really WANT to remember without any doubt that are still very fuzzy or I just can't really recall clearly no matter what I do. Photos kind of help, some of my old writing might, but I am not ready for all that comes with that yet. I don't even know what I still have or what was tossed 15 years ago in an act of self preservation, or maybe just cruelty. Or both. Still haven't been able to make myself go through that stuff. Soon, though.

I have thought about trying to contact a couple of people who are the only ones who can answer some of the questions I have, but I don't know if it's a good idea for multiple reasons. I'm not looking for confrontation, in fact, the opposite, just some hindsight to fill in details and perspectives, but I don't know that anyone would even care or have a reason to want to help. Or can remember. Might bring up some destructive shit for me. Or them. Might not, though. Could allow me to answer some questions, zip up and bury some old persistent shadows once and for all. Might make things worse. Anyway, it's mostly shit I can't post here. I can't really put anywhere. It is what it is, I gotta go with it and take it when it comes. All I know is I'm working on many projects, I'm more productive now than I have been in a decade or more. I'm not going to question it out of fear that I'll lose it.

If I had "disposable" money I would 100% put this in my cart and seriously think about buying it for several days until it's too late, already sold or until I convince myself there is no way I should spend this much money on something that's not a necessity.

If the democrats actually want to win media cycles when they need to (like now) -- trust me, I'm not saying they are -- but if they were to care, they need a big, loud, crass person with balls to go on traditional media, on every station and loudly explain that what is happening to people today is because of what will happen to millions in 2 1/2 months. They need to have the purpose of not backing down to the corporate capitalist media, or their garbage fake pundits, they must stay on point and stick it all on the republicans. Use their own words against them, have public examples of their blatant hypocrisy memorized. Ignore the whataboutisms, or better yet, calmly explain to the American public if they really pay attention, the republicans don't ever answer any questions related to accountability, or actually say anything that based in truth. They haven't in my lifetime, it's all deflection, it always has been. Someone that won't let the hosts or the guests pull them away from their main points, chaining one to the next. We have no one with charisma out there because bland middle of the road neolibs have no rizz and they don't want anyone being a spokesperson for 65% of the country unless they know they're on a leash. All of the fun, funny, serious and smart people are ignored and sidelined because they're leftists. It will take the democratic party elevating one of these people and backing them no matter what they say or do, it is the only thing that will turn this around for them, has been for about a decade now.

Imagine having a young hot Bernie type, who speaks how we do and knows their shit. Sam used to be this kind of guy, to a certain degree, but I think Dad Sam came first. Still, he would be valuable out there on the cable shows more often, but he's too smart, knows his shit, and isn't intimidated by anyone, so he doesn't get booked. They want dummies to poke at, show how easily pushed around "leftists" (they're not leftists) are. First thing's first, expose the media and force them away from the right by convincing to the public to react to the media's own obvious spin and lies with their wallets. Get back to basics, use your voice, your labor, your wallet, and you bodies to show our numbers. We vastly out number them, I mean 3 or 4 to 1 (if not more), we just need to remember there are unexpected allies out there, we just have to make them feel safe, supported, and smart enough to start to speak up. Astrophysicists and the scientific community at large, hear me out. What if we told the billionaires that there is a new, better earth that’s within traveling distance and we figured out how to safely get there and they will Benjamin Button on the way there. They could be the first to go, but they have to pay for it. So then we take all of their money, create an elaborate set and simulated rocket ride, convince them they’ll have to sleep for [insert "reasonable" number of years]. They wake up on a desolate island in the middle of nowhere (Northern Canada? Siberia? Absolutely not Antarctica, I want those cunts nowhere near that sacred place) with no communication, but the nicest underground bunker (they have to partially build themselves, which would be HILARIOUS) they can all live their days out thinking they’re inhabiting a new planet that is not safe to explore, and everyone on earth is envious and jealous. This is the best sentence I've written publicly, in like 10 seconds, in good long awhile (with the black background, I'm not a fucking animal). I get a vivid picture in my mind while reading it. You might think it's shit, and that's OK, but I like it.
