The Real Ultrabook

Read First : The word Ultrabook is Intel's trademark name, meaning to say the Asus Zenbook falls under the category "Ultrabook" where as the one of the main requirements must be that it must be at least 17mm thick and its battery life must be more than 5 hours.

DESIGN

Official Video Design Concept

The Asus Zenbook's design inspiration is from an image of a clock, where one end is thinner than the other thus making the Zenbook one with the time. Its full Aluminium body in the lid, LCD Panel, Keyboard panel and even at the back is really smooth and they call it "Metallic Spun Finish".

Asus Zenbook UX21

Aside from its full metallic finish, the Asus Zenbook is even equipped with a brushed aluminium keyboard, making the overall look complete. Weighing at only 1.1kg for the UX21 and 1.3kg for the UX31, the Zenbook is currently the lightest ultrabook up to date.

The Zenbook's Aluminium Metal on the lid is darker than the rest of the Zenbook, it has a circular pattern that makes the overall look premium. This is due to that the Inspiration is like "Time" so they made the Zenbook luxury like wearing a luxury watch.

Both Zenbooks have an included envelope case that is designed by the Asus Design Center. Honestly the case is quite elegant, its simply looks like a file holder but when holding it makes a completely new statement. Unlike other Ultrabook cases which are too overdecorated, even covering the whole concept of the thinness of an Ultrabook.

PERFORMANCE :

The Asus Zenbook is really a good notebook, well for me that is. I'm more of a Office, Internet, Programing and Video maker guy. So I don't need that much of a powerful dedicated graphics card. The samples provided are both using Intel Core i7-2667 for both UX21 & UX31.

Its an Core i7 processor which is trimmed down to two cores and two threads making it quadcore, that is why its possible to make it that small and thin. Similar to the Razer Blade Notebook.

For the units I reviewed, the Asus Zenbook UX31 is equipped with 256GB SSD while the UX21 has a 128GB SSD. What's good about the Zenbook is that its full SATA 3.0 where unlike other Ultrabooks which just uses an HDD & a 20GB SSD to mimic the speed of an SSD. Still the Zenbook SSD is 3 times faster than the competitor's ultrabook. In this case of 256GB, a person with a USB 3.0 Portable Hard Disk will be pretty handy dandy.

In my hands-on experience, multi-tasking is as expected "A Breeze". No problem in opening multiple heavy excel files and even watching 1080p mkv videos at the same time. Plus due to that it was USB 3.0 and using SSD, I was able to transfer the contents of my 60GB worth of data in less than 6 minutes. Which would normally take around 10-15 minutes using an USB 3.0 and an HDD.

Plus since its using SATA III SSD, the magnificent is that boot up of Windows 7 Ultimate is just 14 seconds, Hybernate resume is 5 seconds and sleep is 2 seconds due to its Instant On.

The UX31's resolution is already 1600x900 compared to the other 13" ultrabooks where its still 1366x768 in resolution, which makes it better to view movies and browse, especially excel files cause you can see more.

One thing that I really love about the Zenbook is that its display is so BRIGHT!!! Currently the brightest display for a notebook I ever seen.

Watching videos or even reading is a great experience with the Zenbook as in the features said its using 450nits LCD brightness, compared to a regular notebook its 3x brighter and compared to the Macbook Air its 1.5x brighter.

Personally the experience is a bit close in watching HD videos using a Super AMOLED Screen or the Retina display of iPhone4.

Speakers of the Zenbook are beneath the chassis and hidden from normal viewing angles

The speakers of the Zenbook is by Bang & Olufsen and SonicMaster. SonicMaster is the brand of Asus for sound encoding. Honestly I experienced the N5 series of Asus where its louder than the Zenbook but still its amplified due to the external sub-woofer of the N45SF. Still the Zenbook produces one of the best sounds you can hear in a notebook or even an ultrabook this thin. Watching movies is definitely better in terms of its bright screen and loud crisp and clear quality speakers.

I guess the only reason left for you to use the audio jack is when presenting, too much environment noise or you simply don't want to disturb anyone.

Touchpad of the Zenbook is quite....expensive. There is a bit of slight friction that you will feel that resembles that the Zenbook is "Luxury". Also its big where the size of the touchpad takes shape of the 16:9 ratio of the screen. Plus the touchpad has more functions now such as switching applications without using Alt+Tab, minimizing, maximizing or even show desktop.

One the left is the Internal Microphone of the Zenbook is located besides the 0.3mp camera, I know what you are thinking "0.3mp lang?" or "why 0.3mp?". In terms of internet connection here in the Philippines, video chatting in HD resolution is still a luxury experience. Whereas you need to have a FAST & STABLE internet connection to experience HD Video chat. So as of now, its still not that important for a megapixel camera, or maybe its the reason why the lid is so thin.

Conclusion:

Although I didn't reveal any performance scaling that much. I can pretty much say that Asus may have the Zenbook going to a right direction. With their design beating other ultrabooks in the market in terms of body material and physical aspects. I believe Asus is fighting here against the real deal, which is Macbook Air, not against the other Ultrabooks.

You might say that "Why did you copied Macbook Air?" to be honest Macbook Air was just one of the 1st to get really hyped, the real 1st one in the thin notebook game is the Sony Vaio Z.

So with the entry of the Ultrabooks and all of the manufacturers are getting into the PC segment. I believe Asus is currently the Ultrabook to beat, not only in design but also in performance.

For price I still can't reveal right now (But I already gave a hint). You just have to wait for the official launch of the Zenbook on November 3 in El Nido Palawan along with the Top Tech media in the Philippines.

Wish :

Just some points I wish Asus added / made.

MicroSD card slot for the UX21, this was made possible in the X101H why not in the UX21? Since the target for UX is the a bit high class market I'm sure all have smartphones with MicroSD as the memory card. It would made the UX21 a bit more friendly.

I wish they removed the print of the "UX21 Series Ultra Slim", cause it kinda tainted the whole aluminum concept.

Standard Performance for a Big Package

The K53BY is basically the 15" version of the K43U here in the Philippines, same specifications but more on package in terms of physical aspect as its now a 15" notebook.

Powered by AMD E-350 Fusion APU, the notebook is capable of decent gaming such as Starcraft II. Already Full 1080p HD Capable the K53BY is perfect for a budget notebook. Pretty much as like a Dual Core Intel in terms of performance, the K53BY is perfect for people who tends to multi-task basic applications. Applications such as Microsoft Word, Internet Explorer, Excel, Outlook and even playing a video at the same time.

Expected from a dual core PC, games isn't the main focus but more of functionality for productivity.

The K43U & K53BY or basically any AMD based product uses the Wave keyboard of Asus instead the Chiclet keyboard. This is probably to differentiate Intel & AMD based products.

Still the consistent "Ice Cool Technology" of Asus applies in AMD Based K series, what this do is that the Palm Rest of the notebook will never get hotter than the body temperature of the human body. So we will always feel the palm rest cold. This is a great advantage over other brands which still can't maintain the heat of their notebooks.

The touchpad of the K53BY is quite ample in space with their special feature of "Palm Proof Technology" which is quite unique among other brands. Basically the feature will block ne y input commands if the source is not as big as a finger. So Palms, shoulders and other large area inputs are not going to respond. Making it easier to type especially when you are new with the unit as you will have the transition in getting used to the product.

The new Asus 1215B now packs the latest AMD E-450 processor where its 25% better than its previous processor AMD E-350. The 1215B is the bridge between people who wants a lighter notebook without compromising performance.

The AMD E-450 is now equipped with an AMD 6320 (256mb) Graphics that is still clocked at 400Mhz. But with the new AMD Turbo Core technology (kinda sounds like Intel Turbo Boost), its able to overclock in a stable condition making your mobile experience faster when you need it. The processor can already perform well in applications such as Adobe Photoshop, Microsoft Visual Studio for programmers or even games like Starcraft II is playable in fair graphics settings.

Now with USB 3.0 compared to its previous generation. The Eee PC 1215B is future ready not only in Hardware but also in design, as its Seashell design is enchanced with 3 colors rather than its just plain White and Black colors before. Now there is Silver, Black with Pattern and Red with Pattern

The chiclet keyboard of Asus is improved in the 1215B not only in ergonomics in typing but as its easier to clean and the keys can't pulled like notebooks in other brands.

The touchpad is quite big compared to other 12 inches netbooks. although the seamless design is a little setback for persons with big fingers as it may interfere with your touchpad experience due to that when pressign the left and right touchpad buttons there is a chance your finger may touch the sensor area besides your finger in the touchpad area thus can mimic a "Muti-touch" gesture even if you don't want too.

Overall the Asus Eee PC 1215B is truly a Netbook with a notebook spirit. Bringing the latest AMD Processor E-450 it will definitely show how a netbook should be. The biggest contender of the 1215B would be HP's new DM1 as they packed Beats Audio in their unit, but we shall see if their audio is better since I haven't seen any of their unit in the market for now.

The Asus K43TA is one of the 1st AMD APU Notebooks from Asus offering an AMD Sabine A6 processor.

So why call it A6? Well basically AMD's naming convention is similar to Intel just replace "I" with "A" and add 1.

notebook.

Since before AMD's image are cheap but powerful processors. Although they improved their processors their price value is still the same.
The K43TA offers a different body materials from its streamline brother K43SJ. While the SJ has an Aluminium Body, the K43TA is plastic but has an Honeycomb texture.

Also the keyboard is the Wave keyboard of Asus instead of the Chiclet keyboad standard in most Asus notebook varieties. But as a K series, Altec Lansing speakers is a standard.

The K43TA can handle most games today in fair settings, for example Crysis 2 is playable in advanced graphics settings. But when tuned to hardcore settings you will experience latency in commands already.

What's great about the K43TA is the price point, at projected price of 29,000 pesos. Its even cheaper than an i5 Sandy Bridge Notebook like the K43SV where its 32,995.

The Eee Pad Slider is another CES 2011 launched product of Asus. Where its the 1st tablet to have its own keyboard, they keyboard is opened through sliding thus its name "Slider". What's innovative about the Eee Pad Slider is that it doesn't aim to become a normal tablet, but its designed to capture the tablet prospects but still needing a physical keyboard

As typing in touchscreen is inconvenient in long duration, the Eee Pad Slider solves the problem of having a Physical Keyboard in tablets. Honestly I would like to see this concept into a 14" notebook. The Eee Pad slider is slightly more wider than the Eee Pad Transformer, the fact that in comparing the Transformer to other tablets its the most widest.

Thicker than most tablets, the Eee Pad Slider is still an worthy tablet as it offers the Physical keyboard for enchanced user experience. Just like the Eee Pad Transformer, the keyboard keys are simillar to the Chiclet keyboards of netbooks but decreased by 1 row to fit into the keyboard all the needs.

The specifications of the Eee Pad Slider is standard and same as the Eee Pad Transformer, but this time the Eee Pad Slider has an USB 2.0 Slot due to the keyboard body enables the unit to have more space. At 17mm and 980grams its one of the heaviest tablets in the market, but its the sacrifice of having a physical keyboard. Surprisingly a wireless mouse can work with the Android OS, making productivity even more fun and convenient.

Battery life is up to 8.5 hours, 1 hour less than Eee Pad Transformer's 9.5 declaration of usage mobility. Honestly the Asus Eee Pad Slider is more practical for me as I am not picky in weight and thickness, but others may still consider the Eee Pad Transformer due to its additional battery life.

Overall the Eee Pad Slider is a worthy tablet in the market today, offering a physical tablet is really a factor to consider as consumers are still not used to touch screen usage in long duration. Given the approach of Asus to tablets, the concept of N+1 really placed Asus to become a worthy tablet manufacturer. Its no doubt that the Eee Pad Slider is one two options from Asus for you not to let go your beloved Physical Keyboard.

The Asus N5 Series is the next generation notebook of Asus for the higher end market. This multimedia notebook of Asus just doesn't aim to provide better sounds, but now the N series notebook is designed by the same designer of the Asus Flagship notebook the NX90 David Lewis.

Its powered by the Latest Intel 2nd Generation i5 - 2410 Processor with its partner for graphics NVIDIA® GeForce® GT 555M with 1GB DDR3 VRAM. The notebook was launched in the recent Computex 2011 where it was introduced to even uplift the experience of users through sound.

Given its silver keys in the keyboard, its approach is another level to notebooks as said earlier its co-designed with David Lewis. The notebook now takes more of a straight and sharp detail look and smooth curves in the edges for more high class delivery.

Sound is the forte of the N series as it continues the legend of the Bang & Olufsen Speakers. But this time Asus included an external subwoofer for real audio delivery. The subwoofer is small and just like holding a Mini-Mug. Compared to the previous versions of N series, the speaker chamber is beveled to have more bass production, but now due to the separate subwoofer the speakers are now flat but still produces crystal clear sound.

So what does this mean to a regular Notebook user? To make it short, you can actually hear what you are playing :)

The N45SF is one of the 1st Asus Products to have Super Hybrid Engine 2, where it has now "Instant On" where it can start up in just 2 seconds from Sleep. Also with two USB 3.0 Ports, it offers the fastest connectivity

Given the quality of sound of the N45SF, its sufficient enough for people who doesn't want earphones. As a Video editor myself, the N45SF gives my needs in creating my AVP's especially when it comes to Adobe After Effects.

Asus Recently launched in Computex 2011 Taipei Taiwan the Asus X series for Eee PC. Its the more affordable netbooks of Asus to raise the bars again in the netbook market.

The Asus X101 is the thinnest netbook yet, at only 17.6mm thin and 920grams its definitely one unique netbook. For its size and weight, Asus aims to target the cloud computing people out there that needs to be always on the go and in need of a portable powerhouse.

The X101H on the other side is just like a standard netbook but with the shape same as the X101, the shape is inspired from a wing of an Air Plane. Taken its contemporary design the X101H takes more on an aggressive look as a netbook, showing of its thinness (22mm). Given the main difference is that the X101H has an D-Sub port, RJ-45 Connector and SD Card slot instead of the MicroSD on the X101 its typically a normal netbook.

Aside from the additional ports, the main difference between the X101 and X101H are the physical traits such as the X101H has the standard chiclet keyboards of 6 rows, while on the X101 it only has 5 rows, where the "Fn" keys are integrated in the 1-0 row. Also the touchpad changed for the X101H which is similar from a regular netbook.

Both are powered by Intel N455 Atom Processor, 1GB DDR3 RAM, but the change is in their memory storage where the X101 has the ultra fast 8GB SSD for files. I know you will say "8GB lang?" the fact that its SSD its a big advantage in speed especially if you want to boot it to Windows 7 if ever. There is a MicroSD slot for expansion of storage space so I think this is more than enough for sharing simple files. Again this netbook targets cloud computing people not file junkie peoples out there.On The X101H has a standard 2.5" 250GB SATA for files that is just right for a netbook.

Both units are Powered by Intel MeeGo OS, its an open source operating system that aims people for simplicity yet productivity. Unlike other open source OS that is quite familiar to windows layout, the MeeGo OS stands out by just simply having a status bar on the top, where all of the needed icons are already there and can be customized with a few simple clicks.

Overall MeeGo is an alternative to those who just want to surf and be integrated with their favorite Social Networking Sites. Of course productivity can be done as applications such as Open Office is pre-installed in the OS.

As Asus introduced the X101, it aims to bring back the life of the netbook market as tablets are slowly eating the share. By capturing the people who needs a portable powerhouse that will not break their bank, the SRP for the two devices are Php9,995 for the X101 and Php10,995 for the X101H, with these low prices which are currently the cheapest yet for a netbook I guess Asus will get the netbook market a shake-up once again.

Probably with this move, other manufacturers will scramble again to produce their own version as well in the near futures. Just like what happened back in 2007 when Asus Introduced the Netbook for the 1st time :)

Asus 1015PX Review

The Asus EEE 1015PX is the latest netbook of Asus, powered by the Intel Atom N570 processor. It offers a faster cloud computing experience as well as enhanced usage experience with its new seashell design revision.

The keyboard of the 1015PX changed where its from a full flat level before now they keyboard or should I say the body panel itself shifted a bit more downward to make the keyboard look like its raised and pops out from the body itself.

The touchpad also changed where its now a seamless smooth panel, not like before it has graded texture that you can feel. But now the touchpad is also bigger than the previous version.

The EEE Seashell design of the 1015PX is more defined where the plastic surface is Matt, not like before its glossy. Giving more detail to the curves and bevel of the netbook.

Performance

Basically the 1015PX is advertised as 25+% faster than the N450 processor, in my test the 1015PX does gives more punch than the previous netbooks. But still don't expect too much in increase in performance. In my estimations the upgraded processor can give around 4-5 more internet tabs as well as opening another application at the same time.

With the rating of 2.8, the 1015PX is a very good cloud computing tool to do some MS office work, internet browsing, Social Networking as well as some music and 480p video playing. Although today its the trend of HD capable devices the 1015PX is still not that strong enough to play 1080p videos especially when its via youtube cause you will encounter jumps in playing, as for 720p contents its quite capable in playing but only when few applications are opened.

The 1015PX is built for people who are on the go, where cloud computing is essential since they can access their file via online or just surf on the go. The portability of the 1015PX, with the compatibility to be used with mobile broadbands is the ideal situation where the 1015PX is best at.

Speakers of the 1015PX is still the same as the previous seashell netbooks where its still powered by SRS. Overall the speakers can kick but not that clear when in high volumes

Battery Life

The 1015PX claims up to 11 hours of mobility, of course here in the Philippines its obvious that we don't use our LCD brightness in 30% and run on power saving all of the time. In my test, I used the Auto-High Performance of the Super Hybrid Engine of the 1015PX, it is where it controls automatically the CPU when you need more power.
In my test I got a total of 7 hours and 44 minutes using the Wi-Fi on, surfing for youtube videos and SNS at the same time.

The Asus 1015PX is a very good netbook as its now capable in playing 720p videos, upgrading the multimedia experience of the consumers. Even though its not 1080p its not that significant since the resolution of the 1015PX can't reach 1920x1080.

Overall the 1015PX is an outright perfect mobile companion, suitable for the everyday on the go persons.

Asus N53SV Review

The Asus N53SV is the Multimedia Notebook of Asus, powered by an Intel Core i7 2630QM CPU it offers the latest processing power capabilities and backed up with the graphics processing by 1GB NVDIA GT 540M.

The N series of Asus is the next level from the K Series for the Mass market, it offers better audio and visual experience. The whole design of the N series is inspired by simplicity with performance. With its upgraded performance its not only ment for audio and videos but for gaming as well.

The speakers of the Asus N series is what sets it different from other notebooks, where its speakers are 4x larger than regular notebooks and made by Ice Power Bang & Olufsen. In regular terms the speakers can produce crystal clear music even in loud volumes. Honestly trying these speakers will make your other friend's notebook shy with their speakers.

Backed up with the speakers is the Sonic Master sound technology where it process the sound via software to ensure that its clear. So its both enhanced in hardware and software for optimal audio experience.

The notebook's built is good, it may be plastic but its made in good material plus its featured with brushed aluminum so it adds to the class in touching the notebook by giving it a smooth yet metallic like surface. The N series has the color combination of black and grey which symbolizes power yet simplicity, which is good where its the personality target of this notebook.

Asus changed the keyboard of the N series to Wave keyboard, where its previous version of the N series is the Chiclet keyboard. The keyboard is more appropriate and still ergonomic using the wave keyboard, where it matches with the look of the notebook itself.

Playing games with the N53SV is really fulfilling where just using it with the speakers is already an upgrade in experience, plus with the latest processing and graphics, I was able to play games like Crysis 2, COD : Black Ops, Prototype with no problems at all. Of course in medium graphics settings, in high / hardcore setting I already encountered lower fps and even delay in commands.

Asus also included video magic software where it enhances any 480p videos to become HD quality. Honestly this software isn't any good where it increases the color saturation and sharpness so it can be in a higher resolution, resulting to obvious changes that are not pleasant to the eyes.

Battery life of this notebook isn't surprising nor impressive which is expected to an i7 notebook, honestly for a notebook with this specifications do not expect more than 3 hours of mobility cause for the technology now its currently rare to have those kind of achievements. But on my test I was able to get 2hours and 24 minutes of mobility while in High Performance.

Overall the Asus N53SV is already one of the top of the line Notebooks today, even enhanced for multimedia experience its sure to fulfill the music junkies out there with its Ice Power speakers and Sonic Master sound technology.

Asus EEE Pad Transformer Review Part 3 - Pad & Dock

The Asus EEE Pad Transformer indeed transformed CES 2011 when they introduced it, although they did not win the CES 2011 Best Show Award against the Motorola Xoom the transformer made some good impressions as it has the Mobile Dock where its a Physical Keyboard with I/O ports and extra battery for mobility. Asus introduced the EEE Pad Transformer as an Tablet that transforms to an netbook. The concept was to ease consumer in transitioning from netbook/notebook to tablets plus still giving them mobility and option in what kind of Mobility they want.

Since I discussed mostly on the performance of the tablet in my 1st part of the review ( EEE Pad Transformer Part 1 Review ), this review will feature the pros & cons of the Mobile Dock itself.

PROS

Physical Keyboard - They physical keyboard itself is a great advantage in typing where honestly in long duration typing on a touchscreen will surely make your fingers sore.

Touch Pad - You might ask, "Why do I need a touchpad when the tablet is already touchscreen?" The answer to that is, touchscreen is good but not precisely accurate, the touchpad is good when hitting the in between of words in editing or selecting a portion of an image where touchscreen may cause inaccuracy.

Overall the Bronze and black color combination stands out that the Asus EEE Pad Transformer is not an ordinary tablet. The Mobile dock offers 2 USB 2.0 ports and 1 SD Card reader for additional data transferring, its build is solid and has a metal 1st layer on its most common areas such as the mobile dock itself and the sides of the tablet itself.

Additional Battery - The additional battery on the mobile dock itself charges the tablet when connected, giving the tablet up to 7 hours of additional mobility thus you can have up to 16 hours of mobility in total.

Why do I need the Mobile Dock? - This is the main question, overall the tablet can perform well without the Mobile Dock thus making it optional, but Asus introduced the Mobile Dock mainly for the easy transition of consumers from Notebook / Netbook to Tablets. Where you don't have to sacrifice the physical keyboard which is still more productive than typing on a on-screen keyboard. Plus the additional battery gives you the advantage over other tablets in the market today in terms of mobility duration.

CONS

Additional item to carry arround? - It is true that you have to carry a keyboard so to speak when you want to attach it to the dock, but that is why its optional, you just need to bring it when you need it. But just like a netbook the keyboard dock merely weights just like a notebook adaptor so its just like the same thing.

Widest tablet - The transformer's shape is sought after an netbook, so Asus designed the transformer to be as big as an netbook. To date the EEE Pad transformer is the widest tablet in the market, this is because it needs to be in the same size of the mobile dock so if it's attached at closed its like a netbook.

No USB 2.0 Slot? - Unfortunately the Transformer Pad itself rather its in the Mobile Dock so unless you have the Mobile Dock you can't use USB Devices for Mass Storage or put a hardware interface device such as a keyboard or mouse. 3G mobile dongles are NOT legally compatible with Honeycomb 3.1 OS.

Why don't I just buy a netbook instead? - Its a tablet that can be transformed into a netbook. Asus made the mobile dock to make it an additional feature to become a netbook, currently in the market touchscreen netbooks are ever more expensive than a tablet so why sacrifice price when you can have both at the same price?

Also its OPTIONAL, not an obligation accessory where its needed to run the EEE Pad itself, its just an highlighted feature that the transformer has that the other brands doesn't, which is your main advantage to this product.

Overall the Asus EEE Pad Transformer is already one of the capable tablets in the market featuring the main advantage over the others is the Mobile dock which has the additional battery.

Asus EEE Pad Transformer Review Part 2 - Mobile Dock Only

The Asus EEE Pad Transformer Mobile Dock is the significant half of the Transformer itself, it provides users with additional 7 hours of battery life with its battery. Additional connectivity such as 2 pieces of Standard USB 2.0, a SD card reader and fuctionality by providing a keyboard same as the EEE PC's Chiclet keyboard and a multi-touch pad.

The build of the mobile dock is very good, its provided with a top aluminum body so you can feel its sturdy but still sleek looking. The weight of the keyboard is a bit heavier than the tablet itself but still when combined it only weights 680g. Still lighter than an average Netbook in the market today

Closer look at the latches of the Mobile Dock

The latch to conenct the EEE Pad Transformer to the Mobile Dock are two clamps that easily locks when the transformer is inserted firmly. As seen in the picture below the sliding sliver bar is the trigger to release the tab from the mobile dock. While connected to the mobile dock, the tablet will enter in charging mode.

While the pad is connected to the Mobile Dock, its possible to charge both devices though the same port but this time in the Mobile itself, located at the upper left side of the Mobile Dock.

The bottom of the Mobile Dock is exactly like the EEE Pad Transformer with its graded texture, so it matches the Pad itself. The only difference is the rubber stoppers in the four corners of the dock as commonly seen in Notebooks and Netbooks.

The Mobile Dock is the "N+1" concept of the EEE Pad Transformer where Asus aims to make ease for consumers to switch to tablets or still having the best of both worlds by having this optional item. Personally I have to agree since its hard to type in long duration using an on-screen touch screen keyboard, the physical keyboard is still better, plus with the added battery life of the mobile dock itself is already a big advantage over other brands.

Overall with the SRP of the Mobile Dock of Php 7,000. Its an item worth having since it will literally TRANSFORM your tablet to a 2 in 1 Device. Plus the additional mobility time, connection and user convenience results to a more pleasant Pad experience.

Design

The Asus EEE Pad Transformer is one of the 1^st Android 3.0 (Now 3.1 available) tablets announced, as it takes on to compete with the iPad, Asus ensured that the Transformer will be a pad that is hard to resist. Unlike other tablets that are just either plain silver or a combination of black and silver the Transformer stands out by incorporating the color of bronze and black. Also the unique stylish pattern design at the back adds class to the transformer and additional grip to make users that the Transformer is not just an ordinary tablet.

The sides of the transformer is made of aluminium where you can feel the sleek edges paired with the graded dots on the sides so you can know if you are holding near the edge of the pad. Also the transformer has no buttons on the glass panel itself, where the home button is just located on the lover left portion of the screen along with the home and the recent apps key. This is due to that the OS is now honeycomb where its optimized for Tablet usage.

Android Honeycomb is really designed for tablets, where its user interface is more ideal to access application and intended for a large screen resolution. Unlike tablets (Froyo 2.2) before, the apps are intended for pocket devices thus having small resolution in apps and sacrificed quality in its user interface and experience.

The screen responses very well, as well the User Interface is fluid although it still can't compete with the same responsiveness in screen rotation compared to the iPad. Asus did changed some of the icons of honeycomb, just like the home, recent apps and return button are more visible than the default dark blue color. Also Asus created their own keyboard layout where its balck and silver instead of the black and dark blue where its harder to see.

HD applications with the Transformer performs well, the Dual Core NVDIA Tegra 2 processor really enhance user experience as you won't encounter that much glitches as compared to Single Core 1Ghz processors. The reason why I said "That much Glitches" is because there isn't any perfect experience of tablets as of now, since Honeycomb is still young so to speak its still in the stages of fixing various bugs.

Although the Android 3.1 improved speed, response and stability of the Transformer in using the tablet in heavy browsing or applications you will encounter minor lags along the way. One example is facebook chat, where when used vertically you will have ample space to see your chat feed and at the same time the keyboard is displayed but unfortunately typing fast with the tablet touchscreen is quite hard as you will encounter delay along the way when you try to type fast. I guess the reason to this is that, the onscreen keyboard, FB chat and using of flash gives the tablet a bit of load to work on all at the same time.

Screen / Speakers / Camera

The EEE Pad Transformer is equipped with IPS Screen Panel so its capable of 178 degrees viewing angle, although when in bright environments its still not capable to be seen even if the brightness settings is at maximum. As for viewing videos, expect seeing pixels if your video content isn't 720p above, although color rendering is not that that vivid on the default video player. Speakers of the transformer is quite hidden, but its loud enough for good music listening, playing games or youtube videos all thanks to its SRS premium sound technology.

Left Side Speaker

The rear camera of the EEE Pad Transformer is a 5mp camera, its capable enough to give clear delivery of images but you would still notice the pixels as the image view in the EEE Pad is already at 1280x800 resolution. Taking pictures on the Pad is bit tricky as you need to press the screen to take an image, thus may result to shaking and could lead to unfocused shots. Overall the camera could do some improvement but its still capable and decent enough.

Battery Life

Asus claims that the EEE Pad Transformer can go up to 9 hours of mobility, in my playtime with the EEE Pad I went to SM Marikina for Wi-FI continous coverage and using the GPS on the way, overall I managed to get more than 6 hours of continuous usage with the Wi-Fi and GPS on all of the time. Along with FB, Twitter and Gmail browsing, I also played Graved Defense HD (such an addictive game) for almost 3 hours with the speakers in moderate

Since 4th year Highschool, I was already an avid fan of Asus, from cellphones (yes they have cellphones) to motherboards. They are close to becoming a 4C

Anyways I would like to see in my own to eyes especially the Asus Sabertooth X58 Motherboard Series, because I was fascinated on the technology they say, that is "Military-Standard Certified TUF Components" plus its the 1st high end motherboard I saw from Asus that is categorized as "The Ultimate Alliance" instead of their ROG (Republic of Gamers). Business Tactics : The world of Capitalisim

This has been bugging me since 1st week of July, I'm referring to the GE X5 Camera. A nifty SLR looking camera that but its actually just a point and shoot. Plus it has good features, to name a few

3200 ISO
15x ZOOM

With these nifty looking features I was wowed especially looking at the price, its quite acceptable. At 11,995 I saw at PHOTOLINE, its quite nice. Plus it even has a 2pcs of 2GB SD CARDS and a Motorola Basic Phone. Out of astonishment I took a photo of it

Since I saw it on the basement of Robinsons Metro East, I decided to look at Picture City as well. In my expectations I saw the same model of the camera but with a huge twist! They are selling it for 10,495 without the cellphone!

So I was like, what the! Plus the one in Picture city has a free set of rechargeable batteries and charger. I was like WTH! The one in Photoline is a hoax since you will pay an additional 1500 just for the cellphone which they said its even FREE!

So concluding the two the one in Picture City is better, plus you have batteries that are even rechargeable. Besides 1500 for a basic phone, just buy one in cherry mobile or samung for 999.

This made me think, what ways to say your selling with an advantage but actually not. Now I hate Photoline for fooling their consumers, tsk tsk. Sheez the world of business advertising / marketing, it can really turn a person up-side down.

I hope this is a reminder to us that always look to 3-5 stores before buying. Who knows, maybe the one in picture city is even expensive than other stores....

In my life of eating snack foods, La-La Fish crackers is the one that is still in my list. Those royal blue and red foil package and with a picture of a fish. These tasy fish crackers are perfect to eat especially just hanging out, watching TV or with some friends having a friendly conversation.

Plus I find La-La cheap and affordable with its big package just around 20 pesos in your local grocery stores its no doubt why its still on demand. I for one like to eat La-La with Vinegar / "Suka".

Today is August 19, 2010 and all I did was sleep, eat and internet. I was so bored and unmotivated to do anything. So far the most productive thing I did is this blog, and its even short.

I'm Focused about F.Cuz (Focuz) (Part1)

I was hooked to F.Cuz since January 6, 2010 the day they released their MV of Jiggy. From that time I was just like magnetized in every apperace of F.Cuz. From that I decided to make my cosplay outfit inspired from LEEU's Wardrobe outfit from the music video. which is this

at first I was so buggy to others where to get those cute shoes! Fortunately my friends in plurk refered my to those multiply sellers that sells orthodox type shoes or foreign brands but replicas.

And I found those cute shoes, those are called Ato Matsumoto

So Mid February I ordered the shoes for 3k, and waited for 2-3 weeks arrival time

I guess I liked F.Cuz so much because I see myself to their "Jiggy" fashion, I like colorful outfits so much as well as plain sophisticated looks like formals. It was febuary when I began going to tutuban mall divisoria for the light blue cloth I need as well as the pattern of LEEU's inner polo shirt. Its was very hard, I went around the whole cloth stores of tutuban mall 4x just to get the right light blue coat color. It also tooked me 4 times back and forth just to see the right cloths. Since then I was so dedicated I immediately searched for a tailor that is experienced in coats, fortunately I found a bit cheap but alright store in our market place. The tailor will take 3-4 weeks due to that the coat is a real coat and not just a semi quality type, as well as the inner polo.

So in the last week of February I was surprised while in school that I was looking in some details of F.Cuz, me and LEEU has the same birth date. I was like * squeal for joy* since I was in the library -_-......so my determination to finish the cosplay amplified even more.

What gave me a headache the most is the content of the print inside the inner long sleeves of LEEU's outfit because in any frame of the music video I can't see the whole print, good this I was able to see in his interview videos the whole inner polo, the print says "Frankie Says Army Playing Tag". Plus it was so hard to print due to that the cloth was polyester and graphics shops denies the job order due to that polyester easily melts in high temperature, but its needed to be pressed in a hot iron to print the needed print in the polos shirt. Good thing I found an experienced graphics shop in Farmers Cubao.

My shoes suppose to arrive march 18, 2 days before my birthday but it got hold in the customs due to some problem. But I forced the seller to send me the shoe ASAP, but no mater what I do its still in their hands. Eventually I got it March 23. 3 days after me and LEEU's Birthday.

So eventually my outfit was finsihed last week of march, just in time for Ozine Fest since Ozine Fest incorporated KPOP theme a bit in their convention.

Currently the only telecom provider in the Philippines that uses EVDO (Evolution Data Optimized) which is the predecessor of CDMA (Code Division Multiple Access), providing wireless internet connection that they said its constant 512kbps. Based on my experience, as an subscriber of their wireless 512kbps plan, its quite good only on Morayta Manila, Cubao and Marikina. But my experiences on SM Megamall, Chinese Garden Manila, Intramuros Manila, I couldn't even get a decent EVDO signal. So I switch to their 1X connection which is up to 156kps only but its still constant.

I guess their decision to provide EVDO is to evade the wireless traffic of 3G signals of other providers.

One thing which is good in Bayantel is that their customer service is FAST, they will surely attend to you in less than 24 hours, not like other communication brands that will take you 3-5 days before they reply.

For me Bayantel is a good telecomunications service provider, only if you are in the scope of their limited service area.
