iPhone Hackathon 4 Charity, building as many iPhone apps in a weekend, profits from each app donated to local charities.

Use your talents for good to help build an army of kick ass iPhone
applications! Attendees (Software developers. Graphic designers. Social media experts. Marketers. Ninjas.) will split into teams, each team
deciding what to build. What kind of iPhone apps? Whatever they want,
as long as the apps are awesome!

Halifax band becomes YouTube hit singing the United Airlines blues

East coast pop/folk band and ECC ambassador Sons of Maxwell have a viral hit in their hands after posting the song "United Breaks Guitars" on video site YouTube on Monday.

The song and video was composed and sung by lead singer Dave Carroll after spending months seeking compensation from United Airlines after their baggage handlers fractured his $3,500 Taylor 710 guitar on a March 2008 flight.

Offer expats an opportunity to reconnect, says Chris Crowell guest writing for Chronicle Herald

ECC President Chris Crowell recently penned a column for The Chronicle Herald, urging Atlantic Canadian governments, business and organizations to nurture and maintain ties with Maritimers and Atlantic Canadians who have moved away from the east coast. Calling expatriates a "renewable resource", he asserts expatriates "do not want to be an observer of the success of Atlantic Canada; they
want to be a part of the story:"

Two island brothers have turned a sour smelling garbage strike into a sweet smelling business idea. Bill and Bob Hennessey of Charlottetown have created a business called Toronto Sameday Garbage Removal in an effort to capitalize on the city worker’s strike and the piles of waste that have been growing since it began.

John Risley personifies confidence in challenging times

Atlantic Business Summit keynote speaker John Risley remains optimistic about current challenges facing his business in Nova Scotia. ABS panellist and journalist for the Globe and Mail, Gordon Pitts, spoke with the business titan shortly after his dissertation at this year’s ABS to discuss how he will face the falling dollar, economic collapse and the new NDP government.

Conversations with ABS Participants - Noel Baldwin, Canada Millennium Scholarship Foundation

During the 2009 Atlantic Business Summit, I circulated the floor of the Rotman School of Management and engaged Summit participants in conversation. I asked them a number of questions, from “How do you envision Atlantic Canada ten years from now?” to “What is your favourite place in the East Coast?” Amidst the diverse responses, some participants offered truly insightful feedback on the Summit itself and on issues facing Atlantic Canada.
