Stupid Forum Marketing Techniques

I was browsing thru a couple of marketing forum's the other day and i came across a couple of posts that made me realize that some people still don't understand how to use forums properly.

Maybe they have never read articles about forum posting before or maybe they've been given bad advice about forum posting.

Maybe they don't care...

1) Only Post In Relevant Sections Of The Forum.

Most forum's are split into sections for different subjects. There may be a section devoted to talking about Google Adwords or a section about safelists or copywriting..etc.

Posts that are in the wrong sections are usually deleted by the admin of the forum, so you are wasting your time if you don't check first that you are posting in the correct section.

2) Don't Blatantly Advertise

Your posts will be ignored or you will be chastised if you blatantly advertise in your posts.(unless it is an advertising forum)
We've heard it a million times before..no one likes to be sold to.
People can't stand self promoters.

3)Make Sure That Your Links Work

It's a pain in the butt when someone has made a great informative post and when you click on the link in their sig file, it doesn't work. Kinda makes the post a waste of time doesn't it?
I came across two of these the other day by the same person.

Forum's can be a great source of information and they are also a great way to build your credibility as a marketer.

If you spend your time posting useful advice and and helping people instead of giving them a hard time, because they are newbies, you will establish yourself as a credible marketer that people will come to for advice and eventually buy your products....

Internet marketing gurus always talk about building your mailing list. Mailing lists are important because it is true that the money is always in the list.

How To Do an Upsell

Upsells are a great strategy to make more money from your products.What you do is you basically create a budget or "lite" version of your product to sell at a low price to to attract more buyers, and then you'll UPSELL them to the more expensive version after they buy.
This is easier to do than you think.
It can be done in three easy steps, so let's jump right in.
STEP 1 - Open up the word document for your product, and re-save it with a different name. The reason you do this is because you're going to be deleting content from it, and you don't want to do that to the main eBook file.
Now that you've done that, take out more than half of the information in the guide, and just leave about 1/3 of the content in there. Make sure you change the page numbers in the table of contents so that they're accurate. It's up to you what content you want to leave in. I don't know your product, so you'll have to be the judge of that.
The reason we're doing this is because you want to create a "lite" version of your guide that has less content, so that you can sell it more cheaply on eBay.
STEP 2 - Change your sales letter so that it doesn't promise to deliver information that's only in the main version of the guide. Make sure the new sales letter only reflects the content in the lite guide. This is simple enough, and usually just involves deleting some of the bullets in the sales letter.
STEP 3 - Create a simple "upsell" sales letter that you direct people to after they win your auction. Give them the option of purchasing the regular guide for 9.95 or the full guide for only ten bucks more (and if it normally sells for 39.95, they're getting a deal).
Creating a lite version of your products is a great way to capture business from those people who just didn't want to spend the full amount for the complete book. Chances are, they'll take the upsell and spend the money anyway, but they just needed the low price to motivate them to whip out their wallet.
Now all you need to do is get your hands on some fantastic products to pick up the private label resale rights to.Never before has there been an opportunity to createyour own product line like this.

Top Tips For Hiring Freelance Writers via Elance

One of the best ways to get more work done quickly is by outsourcing. Loads of people use elance to outsource their article writing.This may be because they don't have the time to write articles or posts for their blogs.

Below are some tips for you when using elance:

** Unless you are in a hurry, opt for about a 10 day bidding period. This bidding process is unlike eBay in that you can choose the winning bidder and end the auction process at anytime. The longer you show your project for, the more bids you will attract.

I have found however, that most of the bids will happen during the opening and closing hours of your auction so choosing a very long auction time can actually slow the process down for you.

** From my experience the most reliably consistent writers are native English born writers from English speaking countries such as the US, UK, Canada and Australia.

This does not mean ignore all non-English writers, some of the best writers are from the Philippines. Non-English writers can be very attractive because they often charge much less.

But when considering a non-English provider you must use all the practices you can to find out their true competence at writing in the English language.

** Always ask for sample articles from the bidders you are particularly interested in. Often the writers will already have samples they have attached to their bid description. If they refuse to submit sample work beware!

** If your project is for rewriting articles, send them a test article for them to rewrite and send back. You'd be surprised how ready many writers are keen to do this, especially if you say you ae looking for a long term working relationship.

** Always look at a providers feedback history and ratings. Do not just look at their average rating score, actually read past buyer comments. Some buyers are unfair in their ratings and pull down a providers score unnecessarily. These providers can often try extra hard to please in order to get their score back up and may be charging less than they usually do.

Also, new providers with no history usually bid VERY low to get work and ratings so they can be a real bargain. Do be careful though as some providers keep creating new accounts after abandoning one low scoring account after another.

** When choosing a 'Select Level' project you get to ask bidding providers three questions they have to answer before they can place a bid.

Ask them questions about their knowledge in the niche topic your articles are aimed at. Also ask if they have experience writing web content because writing for the web requires a very different style of writing to conventional offline writing.

** This is critical: *Never* pay anything upfront. Always make payment at the end of the project and only if you are satisfied with the work.
I've heard some terrible stories of people paying hundreds of dollars upfront and then their writer vanishes.

** US and UK based writers usually cost more but you do have far less risk with regards to quality.

That may not sound very PC, but this is a business not a hobby.

The fact of the matter is most non-English based writers are unable to match the natural tone a native English writer can achieve. As always there are exceptions to the rule but do be careful here or you may windup wasting your money and your time.

* Be as thorough as you can in your project description. This will pay off because you will be less likely to run in to problems of misunderstanding after selecting a winning bidder.

** Don't just go for the cheapest bidder, you get what you pay for. Likewise don't always go for the most expensive bidder thinking you'll get the best. Do your homework and look at past history and ask for examples of work.

there quickly is by writing articles. Before you submit your articles
you will need to ensure that you have the following three important

This is very important...
There are a lot of articles out there that dont have too much useful info in them. If you're going to write an article at least fill it with info that people can use. For example, a lot of articles tell you "what" you need to do to get more traffic, or build your list, but they don't tell you "how" to go about it. People are always searching for valuable information, and if you can provide this, people will read your articles and tell other people about your article.

3. Lead Them To Your Website.

Make sure that your articles are incomplete.Only give them half of the information. If you leave some details out, they will want to know more. Don't tell them everything about your subject in one article. Useful information is great, but you need to leave them wanting to click onto your link to your website to find out more. You don't want them to read your article and then just move on to another one.

Now it can be daunting when you first start out which is why I suggest you take the time to get the basics right. The Internet is a great place to find free tutorials on website building and HTML (the raw ‘code’ or building blocks of the Internet) but too much information can be bad for you.

For this reason I recommend you get a book from your local bookstore or a magazine, you’ll find a TON of them with titles like “Learn HTML in 7 Days” or “Build Your Website in 24 Hours” etc.

Now you COULD find this information on the Internet no problem. But the issue here is that you will get distracted with so many wrong turnings a=and options whereas with a physical book or magazine you just work through it from beginning to end until you are done and that’s it.

This is YOUR FUTURE we’re talking about so don’t miss out on this step. Don’t be the one who looks back months from now wondering why they never made it – you NEED to have this basic grasp of web pages in place if you are going to succeed.

Do no cheat yourself out of this.

Q. Should I start by selling other people’s products or should I create my own?

A. As with all these questions – there are multiple possible answers! I recommend you start by promoting other people’s.

Why? Because it’s quicker and you can tap into their existing network of contacts, their existing products and their knowledge.

Now I’m not recommending that you reverse-engineer any products but by promoting other people’s (i.e. becoming their AFFILIATE) you will learn by association.

You will discover the techniques they use to;

• Sell their product from their homepage

• Get traffic to their site

• Recruit affiliates

• Pay affiliates

• Make the product enticing

• Make their website stand out from the crowd

• Market themselves online

Even if you NEVER make a single sale for the people whose product you promote first online this will be a MASSIVE free education for you in online marketing. You will then be able to use everything you learn later on when you do finally develop your own products.

The other benefit to becoming an AFFILIATE first and promoting other peoples’ products is that there is a lot less to worry about. You just need your unique link that you direct visitors to and the product owner will do the rest.

They take care of selling and delivering the product. They will take care of any customer support issues and refunds or questions. All you do is keep sending them targeted traffic and collecting the checks!

Q. What are the different ways I can make money on the Internet?

A. In a nutshell here are your options;

I've been doing a lot of reading lately about Private Label Rights (PLR) content. I used to think that it was only for lazy people who didn't want to do their own writing. But as I learn more, I've come up with lots of great ways I can use PLR in my own business.

If you don't know what I'm talking about, PLR is content that you get from the original author along with their permission to use it as your own. So you can get a great report, put your name on it and have your own product to sell or give away!

The first couple of products I created using PLR only took me about half an hour. There have been a few sales so far from them so that was definitely time well spent.

When searching for PLR content to use, I found there were a lot of different types of sites available. Some offered monthly memberships and others offered just one time purchases. So be sure to look around before you decide where to buy.

The site I found that was by far the best was PLRWholesaler. Not only do they have an unbelievable amount of content, but it's completely FREE. Most sites charge an arm and a leg for the amount of content that this guy is giving away.

And although I haven't been through everything yet, what I have read is very good quality. It's stuff you would actually want to use as your own.

You would be surprised to learn how many marketers forget the backend. When you've made a sale to a customer not all is said and done. You've worked hard to make that sale, now is the time to make the most of it. If you miss the opportunity for back end sales then you will make all of your efforts a lot less productive than they could be.
Think about it this way. If you just sell once to each customer,then each time you want to sell you have to find a new customer. But if the customer is interested enough to buy one product from you, then it is quite probable that they will be interested in any other related product that you have. That way you do not have to find a new customer each time, as you can sell to the same customer several times. It only makes good sense.
When you sell a product to a customer, if it is a digital product then when it is delivered, there will be a thank you page. But there is no reason to just put a thank you on that page when you could be offering them another product, possiblyat a discount for a valued customer, or at least an opportunityto sign up for your newsletter so that you can keep in touch with them. If you do not have a newsletter then ask them if they would like to sign up for free upgrades to the product that they have just bought. Even if they just do this then when you send the email for the upgrade, there is an opportunity to tell them about your other products.
But the ideal place to sell, is from your product itself. An ebook is ideal for this as you can put links in it to other products that you have that might be of use to the customer. But make sure that you are not just selling to them, after all they have already paid for the ebook. So only put in a link to another product if it is appropriate to the subject of the ebookand if it is useful to the customer. That way you will give then real value as well as making extra sales.
When you make a sale to a customer, it is an opportunity to sell them other things as well but make sure that you are not just selling to someone who has already bought your product. If you offer them something that is really useful to them then you can continue to sell to them, as you are not just making money you actually giving them real value as well.
