			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p></p><p>Dr. Dukan in the <a href="http://eatinglowcarb.com/the-dukan-diet/">Dukan Diet</a> expects you to exercise.  Nothing crazy, you need not join a gym nor need you get up a sweat. No all you need to do is to go for a 20 minute walk every day. That isn&#8217;t much is it? I think most of us might even enjoy that.</p>
<p>All the low carb diets require you to do some exercise but you will not be able to do a lot of vigorous exercise when you are short of carbs. That is why walking or something similarly gentle is suggested.</p>
<p>Just a brisk walk and you will benefit from it. Now it is pretty obvious isn&#8217;t it that exercise will use up calories and calories use your fat because that is just about the only source of easily available energy while you are  eating the low carb way. This is true for all the low carb diets not just the Dukan method.</p>
<p><strong>You Could Walk On An Elliptical Cross Trainer </strong></p>
<p>Now if walking isn&#8217;t something you are able to do there has to be an alternative. He doesn&#8217;t give you one but I will. I use an elliptical cross trainer myself. These machines are very gentle and you can go at walking speed on them. They feel comfortable to use and when you have your iPod or the TV or radio for company time speeds by.</p>
<p><strong>Wii Fit Is  Gentle Exercise &amp; Fun Too</strong></p>
<p>If you don&#8217;t want to spring for a home exercise machine then another option that may suit you is the Wii Fit. I have this and it is good fun. The exercise is very easy to start you off and their are some games too.  When you buy Wii fit you will need to buy the Nintendo Console if you do not already have it. Wii includes Yoga, strength training, cardio and balance exercises.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">One thing about doing all this is you will feel so good about yourself. You really will.  After the misery of failure this is a wonderful feeling- like a natural high. So don&#8217;t be lazy you can do at least one of these things can&#8217;t you?</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">It isn&#8217;t the exercise though that makes the Dukan Diet different. It is really the whole philosophy and understanding of the problem of putting on too much weight. Then also of course it is special because the diet doesn&#8217;t end when you reach goal. You have to keep going as he directs so that this weight never comes back.</p>

</div>The Dukan Diet is the latest low carb weight loss diet to appear on the scene. Actually it isn&#8217;t all that new. The French have had access to Dr. Dukan and his low carb diet for several years. Now it is available to us in the English speaking world. This is anothe low carb diet but instead of being high in fat like Atkins the Dukan Diet is low fat as well as low carbohydrate.</p>
<p>Dr. Pierre Dukan created the diet almost by accident, or so he says. He had a friend who was very overweight beg him to help him to slim down. Dr. Dukan told him to eat only lean meat, poultry and fish and to drink lots of water. The friend came back to tell Dr. Dukan that the method had been extrmeley successful. He had lost pounds while eating the food he liked and never feeling hungry.</p>
<p>When he learned of the almost accidental success of the diet Dr. Dukan began to learn more about nutrition and health. He went on to help hundreds of people to slim down. He introduced the Dukan Diet to people in the UK last year and it has become a very popular way to lose weight. Now he is bringing his low carb low fat weight loss method to the United States.</p>
<p>The Dukan Low Carb Low Fat Diet has four distinct stages -</p>
<ol>
<li> Attack</li>
<li>Cruise</li>
<li>Consolidation and</li>
<li>Stabilization</li>
</ol>
<p>In Stage 1, the Attack phase you eat only lean meats, fish, eggs  whites and poultrywith nothing else except water and seasonings for your protein meals. During the dukan diet attack phase you lose a lot of weight.</p>
<p>In stage 2 &#8216;Cruise&#8217; you begin to alternate between the lean protein only days as in the &#8216;Attack&#8217; stage and a day when you can eat your lean protein plus an approved  vegetable. You continue in this stage until you reach your ideal weight.</p>
<p>In Stage 3 called &#8216;Consolidation&#8217;, you begin to introduce more foods as directed by Dr. Dukan.</p>
<p>Finally the Stabilization stage is the one you stay on for life. You can eat normally every day except Thursday. On Thursday you eat only lean meat as in the &#8216;Attack&#8217; phase. By doing this you will be able to conquer your tendency to pile on the punds.</p>
<p>Dr. Dukan pays a great deal of attention to this final part of the dukan diet. He knows that the hardest part of any weight loss plan is when it is meant to be over. That is when the pounds will pile on again. By keeping you on the diet for life the dukan diet aims to prevent weight regain</p>
<p>There ar eplenty of ideas for meals without carbs or fats. You will find that the foods you can eat are very delicious and will be a welcome part of a lifetime plan to keep that fat from coming back.</p>

<p>Dr. Dukan in his new book <a href="http://eatinglowcarb.com/the-dukan-diet/">&#8216;The Dukan Diet&#8217;</a> talks about the  problem. He believes, from his experience with  patients, that fat cells double when someone reaches a BMI of about 28.   You then have twice as many hungry  fat cells as you had before! Of  course if your mother let you get fat as a child you may already have  additional fat cell ready to be filled when the opportunity arises.  Don&#8217;t blame Mom she was just feeding you the way she was told to. Plump  babies were considered to be healthy and thriving. So maybe you were a bonny bouncing baby!</p>
<p>There is a physiological reason why diets can make you fat that is well known from studies on starvation. Animals starved or severely deprived of food will overeat for the rest of their lives. People do too. Studies on concentration camp survivors found that many of them were unable to maintain a healthy weight ever again.</p>
<p>The body is trying to protect itself against another famine. It doesn&#8217;t just make you hungry all the time it also becomes super efficient at extracting every last speck of nourishment from the food you eat. Once you reach a certain weight &#8211; and its not all that heavy, your fat cells divide and double their numbers. Each of these cells  is like a sponge absorbing fat as fast as it can retrieve it from your food. So of course diets make you fat!</p>
<p>But I am not writing this to be depressing or to make you think that there is no hope for you! I have to tell you that it seems that Dukan has made a huge contribution to solving this dieting problem.  I will post about his new diet in my next post.</p>
