In this time, achieving any big dream of building up any institute, school, memorial, college, hospital etc. is almost impossible if one thinks to achieve it from his or her two hands only. As we know that everything has immersed into the impact of expensiveness. So, one can face difficult to fulfill financial needs that occurs throughout a project. Thus, if a person would get any specific help that can reduce the financial burden, certainly the dream of developing a planned institute can be possibly achieve and that too very easily. In this regard, engraved pavers’ fundraising is the best way to collect required fun from various donors.

Although, it is not an easy job to collect fund for any organization easily, as it needs to develop faith and interest in donors for which they like to donate funds for engraved pavers’ fundraising. If a person would think to begin fundraising without any specialist or fundraising company’s help, it can be mere foolishness. In such case, the process of collecting funds would go very long; even lastly it is very hard to say if they would get desired or sufficient funds for their project or not. The idea of engraved pavers’ fundraising is quite renowned and many industrialists or socialists are using such way to complete various projects. By doing so, they can collect desired funds and that too without investing or burdening their bank accounts or pocket as well. In engraved pavers fundraising method, usually donors make donations on one condition that their name would be written over the pavers which would be engraved in the institute. Thus these pavers keep their identity secure and it can be known till the building exists. In this way, visitors come to know about donor and his or her contribution to the organization. These days, there are many times of pavers available and being offered to donors to choose on. Thus, donors can choose any paver and after choosing that paver they have to pay cost of the paver as well as charges for writing name in the pavers. Thus, whatever the charges, a company applies on each paver; the donors have to pay that amount.

Thus, all collected amount from pavers are referred as engraved pavers fundraising and this way a desired volume of fund can be collected. Indeed, it is a remarkable way of fundraising and to make a dream come true in highly sophisticated and easy way.

Your 3-Step Plan to Approach Grant Funders That Only Give to Preselected Organizations

I know it. I’ve been right there with you. You find THE most amazing grant funder ever that would be absolutely perfect to support your organization. Their interest is the same as yours. They’re in the same location as you. And they have what you need most – money! But there, in the fine print, you see those five most dreaded words – “gives only to preselected organizations.” As Homer Simpson would grunt, “D’oh!” What’s a grant writer to do?

How to approach grant funders that only give to preselected organizations is a question I am asked on a very regular basis and I’m happy to respond with what I hope you’ll find to be a helpful three-step approach. I’m not vowing that it works every time but I would say that this approach is the most graceful and tactful way in handling the situation if you want to take a crack at the inner sanctum of walled-off foundations.

First, determine if the foundation you want to pursue for grant funding really is a good match for your organization. They may look like they’re a good match when you’re doing quick searches but be absolutely positive by digging as deep as you can before trying to initiate contact. I would suggest looking at a series of the funders’ Form 990s to see if they’re funding agencies similar to yours. Also, be aware if they seem to fund a variety of agencies each year or if they stick to funding the exact same ones year after year. No matter how good of a match you might be, if they consistently fund the same organizations each year with no variation, I would skip them and move on. It could be that the foundation was legally set up to just fund those preselected organizations and that no wiggle room would be allowed.

Second, use your connections. I hate to say that grant funding only comes down to who you know but it really does help to have some sort of common connection. If the funder you’re interested in is local, check out their Board of Directors, their staff and their volunteers and make a list of these. At your next Board meeting, circulate these names and see if any of your own Board members know folks on the list. You would only ask them to make an informal inquiry or contact on your behalf just to connect the two of you together. Be careful to nurture the relationship then and let it grow over time. Let the idea come to them that you would indeed make an excellent candidate for funding.

I also suggest connecting via LinkedIn and Twitter with foundation executives. These are non-threatening avenues that introduce them to your organization and gives you an opportunity to develop online rapport. It might seem like they aren’t paying any attention to you but some really good opportunities can be borne from making this effort.

Third, use a soft approach in contacting walled-off foundations. Sometimes, the personal connections just aren’t there and you’re champing at the bit to get to a particular foundation. Rather than approaching the foundation with an introduction of your organization via letter, email or phone call with “I know that you state you only give to preselected organizations, but…” Go with a slightly different approach. It’s that “but” that ticks them off. Let’s not tick them off, shall we? Here’s what to do.

A good introductory letter of your organization should most certainly recognize that you have read, understood and accept the foundation’s guidelines yet should respectfully ask for clarification of those guidelines. You could write something along these lines:

“We have read and clearly understand your foundation guidelines and applaud your efforts in supporting your preselected organizations as you do much good in the community. We are writing to ask, simply, for clarification. Would you please take a moment to respond to the questions below? Please understand that we aren’t using this opportunity to solicit funds and appreciate your time in answering our questions about your organization.

What criteria do you use in selecting an organization to receive funds from your foundation?
How often do you add new grantees to your list of preselected organizations?
Understanding that we are not asking for money, would you be interested in learning more about our organization? We would be glad to set up an information-only meeting or phone call and also invite you to make a site visit to see our organization in operation.

Any advice you can give us as well for approaching other foundations that would have an interest in supporting us would be much appreciated.”

See? That’s not so bad. This isn’t a letter that a foundation officer would balk at. It’s respectful, it doesn’t waste their time and it’s clearly for informational purposes.

Once you’ve sent the letter or email, follow up in about a week and a half. Remember, you have nothing to lose and you’re not asking for money. This is simply an avenue that allows them to get to know you just a bit better. Continue to cultivate – your effort will pay off if it’s meant to be.

How to avoid being swindled, If you ask people if they are realistic they will say yes. If you ask people if they are intelligent they will say yes. The truth is that a stupid person would not be intelligent enough to be able to work out they are not intelligent. And nobody likes to put negative labels on themself.

When you are in business you are always getting people trying to take advantage of you and con you. It might be staff trying to charge for hours they did not work or work men wanting to get paid more than it is worth. But these are quite obvious to anyone with a reasonable amount of intelligence. It becomes more difficult when things seem to be acceptable. Here is a great example….

You meet a guy who tells you that he has to raise money urgently and needs to sell his lovely new car at a cheap price. He pleads with you to buy it or to help him find someone who will buy it at this very attractive and cheap price and tells you that if you agree you are doing him a huge favour. He desperately needs this money for an operation or to pay a bill. So you, being kind and lovely, agree and pay him this small amount for this car. It is only later on that you find out it is not his car at all, it was rented. And you wasted your money.

People are more likely to be able to trick you into spending your money – or giving it to them – if they make it look like you are getting a bargain.

Here is another great example. A young man is wanting to find out if he will meet the love of his life soon. He wants a fortune teller to confirm that it will not be long before he meets his soul mate and is blissfully happy with her. He is too mean to pay a reputable professional a fair price to find out so he looks online for a website that offers it all for free. He finds one and he eagerly asks them for his free reading. He speaks to a very young person who has obviously just left school and knows very little but he still listens and laps up everything she says. She tells him his true love is just around the corner and if he pays her £1000 she can make sure it works out well with a special romance spell. He would be far better off going to the reputable, reliable, proven professional who has been satisfying clients for decades who charges a fair price. He can do this if he goes to online psychic. Overcoming Your Grant Writing Clients’ Sticker Shock

A very real, frustrating situation for many grant writing consultants that talk with me is the feeling that potential clients get “sticker shock” when consulting fees are discussed. Most experienced consultants are right on the money (pun intended) in the amounts they’re charging if they have done their homework in creating their fee structure. In confronting the “sticker shock” syndrome, I have found that consultants are reacting in one of three ways:

Become ashamed of what they charge and wonder if they really are worth it
Immediately lower their price to accommodate the nonprofit’s pocketbook
Become adversarial and try to “defend” their charges

The problem with all three of these approaches is that they do nothing to solve the problem. What I find to be the best solution? Quit trying to appeal to a client that will never be right for you to begin with.

The plain truth is that when you made the leap into consulting, you had to make a promise to yourself that not only would you offer premium service at a fair price but that you would also stay true to yourself. This means no shame in your offerings, no client dictation over your business and a soft approach in dealing with more difficult clients.

In today’s ability to work virtually and to offer up your services to the almost two million nonprofits in the U.S. alone, why are you still frustrating yourself in marketing only to a very small pool of potential clients? I would love for you to take a moment and imagine your Ideal Client. Try this exercise:

What common denominators would the Ideal Client possess for you?
Where do my Ideal Clients hang out?

When I was a very little girl, I can remember being whiny when I didn’t get my way (only on occasion of, course!) and my mom would respond with “not everything is about you.” Ouch!

Truth be told, I actually see nonprofits that sometimes act like whiny little girls as if it’s all about them. Yep, I said it. How does a nonprofit act like a spoiled child? Keep reading to make sure this isn’t you:

Apply for Grant Funding Where There is No Mission Match – Oh, one of my favorites! May I tell you the number of nonprofits that tell me something along these lines “We’ve applied to fifty funders and not one of them supported us.” Upon just a little further investigation, I usually discover that a) they simply went down an alphabetical list of funders, paying no attention to whether it would be a good match or not, and applied anyway, b) they sent some type of form letter rather than the requested application and c) didn’t even bother to personalize said form letter. Sheesh! What did they expect?

How about this one? Is this you?

Assume That as a Current or Former Grantee That a Renewal Grant is Automatic – Again, it’s appalling the number of nonprofits that just “assume” a grant will be given if they have received grant funding in the past. And then they’re shocked when they have done absolutely nothing to prove their worth, or don’t go through the proper channels, and don’t get a repeat grant. In my experience, even current and former grantees have to go through the same application process as everyone else. Don’t assume anything.

Which brings me to my last point…

Fail to Provide Promised Deliverables – Grantees should always be respectful of what they have promised grant funders. Generally, a grant relationship is looked upon as a partnership by the grant funder and in this partnership certain things are expected: activity reports, numbers of people affected, advertising (if promised) and other deliverables. Why should a grant funder continue to support you if you don’t do what you say you’re going to do?

Yes, nonprofits are created to do good works in our community but responsibility is a must in continuing those good works. Make sure you don’t fall into the “whiny” category and avoid situations that make you appear as such.

It is always a good thing to try to raise money for a charity or special organization that you might work with. Some people will use the money they collect to go towards helping their children’s school and others might use it to help orphaned children or to assist with medical research. No matter what the cost might be it is important that you use all of the tools that are out there to bring in the most amount of people to donate.

The number one thing that you should be using for your non profit organization is a special non profit fundraising software. This is designed to help you to keep track of everything that you are making for your company, how much you have to spend for certain events, and where your largest donations might be coming from.

The first thing that you are going to want to do is to do your research and try to find what the most popular softwares on the market are. From there you want to get an idea of what they each have to offer. There are two things that you should do which will help with this. The first is to read reviews by other consumers to get an idea of what they thought and how it has helped or hurt their company.

The second is to test it out for yourself. This does not mean that you will have to commit to buying it. What it means is that you will get a trial demo version to use for a few days or even a month. From there you can see how easy it is to track your financial records and store important information on every vendor and donator that you work with.

After trying it out you will have a better idea of which one you like and which one was too difficult or was not going to work for your company. After that the only other thing to consider is the amount that you will have to pay to get it. However, that usually is not too big of a problem for people.

Fundraisers are important to churches and other non profit organization. This is what they rely on to bring in funds for supplies or to support the amount of rent that it costs to stay in the building that they are in. Without donations from the people in the town they will be gone in a heartbeat and the orphans or the medically ill or whomever they are trying to help will be without anyone to guide them and to be there for them.

It is one thing to come up with different non profit fundraising ideas, but a whole other thing to bring in people that will be willing to donate their money to the cause that you are fighting for. The first thing that you will have to do is get a list of names of the people who are influential in the town or city that you are living in. Who control a lot of the trade where you live? What name or names do people know the most?

Once you have a list of these names you will be able to create the fundraising solicitation letter. This is a letter of intent that will explain to everyone what you are trying to do and what type of company you have. Explain to them why you are approaching them, who they can help, and what they can benefit from donating money to the cause.

These types of letters need to be professional in every way, but also they need to be engaging. Try to send them out to the person’s business rather than their home. After all this is another form of business for them. When you send them the letter explain that you could help to provide advertising or that this donation is tax deductible.

You should also explain to them that it would be ideal for them to come to the fundraising event, but not necessary. If they have other plans then they can simply donate money and mail it into your office. That way they never have an excuse not to give something back to the cause.

Cause marketing is defined by Wikipedia as “a type of marketing involving the cooperative efforts of a for profit business and a nonprofit organization.” Further, “cause marketing differs from corporate giving as the latter generally involves a specific donation that is tax deductible, while the cause marketing is a marketing relationship not necessarily based on a donation.” In this article we will show that while cause marketing might be beneficial to the corporate partner it is actually detrimental to both the nonprofit organization as well as the individual donor.

The tangible benefits for corporate cause marketing participants are clear. According to a Bob Gilbreath, chief marketing strategist at Bridge Worldwide, in a speech in 2010:

71% of consumers are giving as much or more now as they were before the economic downturn.
87% of consumers would switch brands based on association with a good cause.
50% of consumers would pay more for products from brands that support causes.

Companies might look to engage in a cause marketing campaign to attract consumers and to encourage the customers to spend more money on their products. But, that is only half the story.

The nonprofit organization, as well as the individual, is actually harmed by the cause marketing relationship. Let’s look at the nonprofit first. In a scientific study entitled “Can Supporting a Cause Decrease Donations and Happiness?” “The Cause Marketing Paradox” by Aradhna Krishna, the Dwight F. Benton Professor of Marketing at the Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan, she concludes that “cause marketing, whereby firms link products with a cause share proceeds with it, reduces charitable giving by consumers, even when it is costless to the consumer to buy on CM (versus not); further, instead of increasing total contribution to the cause, it can decrease it.” A consumer is likely to believe that when they purchase a Cause Marketing product they are fulfilling their charitable quota and are therefore less likely to make future donations. The more that the individual spends on a cause marketing item the less they will donate to a nonprofit in the future.

Our results suggest that egoistic and empathetic altruism may have different effects on happiness.” Put simply, since the individual in not giving time or money directly to the nonprofit, emotionally they will not reap the reward.
